Due to the weather changes expected, which will lead to changes in lake oxygen levels, we are temporarily banning the use of keepnets. We will post again when we are happy for them to be used again.

Can we just remind everyone that both Newton Park and the Hunstrete Complex are currently closed for spawning.

We are now closing Main Lake from close of today, 23rd May, the carp are spawning.

We will monitor Withy and Murfet’s but expect them to follow suit very soon.

Lakes are likely to be closed for 2 weeks but we will update when we know more.

‘Walk of Life’ fundraising event along the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath on Saturday 23 May 2026 (07:30am – 20:00pm).

As previous years, we will have walkers starting at both Bishops Cannings and Bradford on Avon, with the event ending at The Holburne Museum in Bath. We expect the towpaths will be very busy on the route throughout the day and I do hope this won’t cause your members too much inconvenience.

I’m very pleased to be able to confirm that today we stocked just under 50 VS Fisheries carp into Main Lake, with almost all fish in the 21lb to 25lb range.

Every fish was stunning and we cant wait to see your photos in the future and watch them all grow.

The beginning of a very bright new chapter at Hunstrete!!

I’ve said it many times… we are extremely greatful to a small group of people that have given up a huge amount of time, blood, sweat and tears over the past 2 years allowing us to get to this day.

We would also like to give a huge thankyou to one of our team who has given specific support during modifications to both lakes and by adding additional carp to our delivery. You know who you are… thank you!

We don’t have an opening date quite yet, but this will be confirmed shortly. It won’t be long. See you all soon.
