I am so ashamed about the action of Tilman Ferrita-his family owns a lot of companies in Las Vegas, his family has money and made large donation to the republicans and his is how tRump rewards him But this is an embarrassment to our country and disrespectful to Italy and now especially Venice. If people were not aware before you have brought it to there attention. I’m sorry the police were involved and I’m sure they were just doing their job but can’t help but compare there actions to ICE here in the US!! Venice and all of Italy deserves better!

Comment on A Small Price to Pay for Timeless Beauty by blogvenice https://blogvenice.com/a-small-price-to-pay-for-timeless-beauty/#comment-14016 Sat, 08 Mar 2025 19:15:34 +0000 https://blogvenice.com/?p=2718#comment-14016 In reply to Janet.

The lagoon has 2 high tides and 2 low tides each day which flush the water. Flowing water has a self-purification process that helps reduce pollutants and maintain water quality. This happens through physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms that work together to break down contaminants and restore balance.
From my perspective there is much more harm done by tourist tossing trash into the canals than people cleaning the streets in front of their stores. Not to mention the mountain of laundry and plates that must be cleaned each day from hotels and restaurants.

Even birds don’t foul their nests and yet these people were deliberately sweeping dirty soapy water into the canals! Why? I think Covid shut downs allowed the water to cleanse itself and nature to be restored-so are they going to continue to pollute their own canals??

workshop it surprises me that such great work is created in such humble areas.
When I went to Venice I was unable to go to Murano, I will regret it until I do. Such minds create
such beauty. Thank you.
