I just finished my 3rd pregnancy – baby is now 2 months old – and unfortunately I don’t think I experienced much like you describe happening back in Portugal! I would stand there in queues, with my 3 or 4 year old with me (or both together!) even, waiting. Thinking of this just reminded me of a time in the supermarket, some bloke actually asked to go in front of me at the checkout while I was standing there with both my (noisy) kids and pregnant because he only wanted to buy one thing – i only had a handful of items myself!! I said ok then, go on, and he did. Oh well. I’m not being a princess about it. I’m just saying on a practical level it would be nice to sit down or be fast tracked… But I’m so pleased you experienced something different when back home. And my above story is not always the case, there have been some kind acts.
