I'm trying to turn the object on the left; which I drew manually on paint.net into a vector graphics object so I can easily edit and move it around. I am trying to do this using Inkscape.

The issue is, whanever I try to Trace Bitmap using the 'Pixel Art' tool, it ends up creating all these tiny white lines. It seems to make a thousand superfluous tiny little squares.

Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to manually trace every single one of these objects? There are far too many.

I'm working with a 3d model that I want to have a bunch of spider motifs, and I want it to have like spiderwebs going down the legs. The issue is I want like a set of straight lines going down the leg, but pretty much all my results trying to google result in more circular or semi-circular patterns.

Does anyone have any spiderweb type patterns that would run down straight lines? It'd important that they're symmetrical, but that's about it.

Icons back in the day used to be colorful, in varying shapes etc, being immediately recognizable.
Around 2015 or so, everything went black and white for some reason, turning into monochrome, silhouette icons.

Why would you remove distinct features of icons? (Attempt to decipher the icons in the middle row in the picrel without hovering over them for descriptions.)

Worse, This light/dark mode shit gets on my nerves. You have two options, blinding white or pitch black. Before chrome infamously got rid of "chrome" bars on your screen, our ancestors had arcane knowledge about this color: grey!

It has been 10+ years with this crap design, why does it still persist?

Why is graphic design such a giant, popular field but tutorials and documentation outside of the surface level, popular effects are either lacking or among a horrifying large sea of shit. No other creative field reaches GDs level of garbage imo (i.e. drawing, video editing, music, etc).

If you want to do cool shit or learn interesting ways to use tools that isn't just messing around with filters, you have to do a fuck ton of research or personal experimentation. Doesn't help that most tutorials are by people who purposefully waste your time for money on videos or boomers who have no script and ramble on and fumble their way through trying to each shit.

/gd/, I come in peace. I didn't see a general for logos in general so fuck it, here's my thread. After nothin on /ic/, I'm gonna post my sloppy attempt at a logo here for a fantasy concept of mine, stylized as "nOdream", as in the phrase "this is no dream". I thought it was mysterious and loaded with both positive and negative feelings, plus juxtaposing strong and conflicting words like "no" and "dream" together. Additionally, I believe it to be an anchor of sorts, a reminder for when even the most bizarre set pieces are explored or the most beautiful or terrible things happen.

The big "O" is representative of the world, while the warped lettering was meant to make it whimsical. I could play around with a few more styles for the typography for sure. The other reason for the letters being warped was to create a symbol of sorts that could be easily recognizable even to non-English speakers. Thoughts?

Originally, I was calling this "Key to the Kingdom", but after getting gummed up with lore and trying to make sense of what kingdoms go where and then having to reconcile set pieces I wanted with climates and so on, I got to a breaking point where I said fuck it and recommitted myself to focusing on individuals even as big things happen around them. I don't think I'll even give kingdoms names anymore, but write an indecipherable hash in place. With the importance of "kingdoms" reduced, I needed a new title, something more personal and unusual. This is what I landed on.

I want to use Adobe Jenson for the body text typeface, but I really love the corroded look of Celestia Antiqua Std (pic related) that was used in Dungeons & Dragon's 3rd edition. Is there a way to add something like that to an existing font? I'd consider other humanist/Venetian old style fonts like Adobe Jenson that already have this quality, but I really like Adobe Jenson.

I feel like I’ve wasted 15 years of my life, and my career has led me nowhere. At 35, I should be at my peak in terms of earnings and health, yet I’m a nobody. I keep ending up in shitty companies where I’m expected to do everything while getting paid less than gate keeper. For the past 10 years, I’ve designed websites, logos, mobile apps, print materials, books, t-shirt prints, labels, packaging, product photography, social media content, 3D designs, modeling, animation, and simulations. If I had focused on one thing from the start, I’d be an expert in a specific field by now and making decent money. Unfortunately, the harsh truth is this: if you are able to do anything that means you are good at nothing. When there are job listings for simple graphic work, they don’t want someone with 5+ years of experience. If they do want someone with 5 years of experience, they expect an expert in one particular niche. Today, no one even wants to spit in my direction. No one is looking for a 35-year-old guy who has done everything (but nothing specific) because they have 100 young, dynamic grads fresh out of college to choose from. The competition in the big city is just too strong. For the past 5 years, I’ve been working from home part-time, and somehow manage to pay the rent. The MS diagnosis broke me. Depression, no friends, far from family, always making excuses. If it weren’t for my wife earning well and help from my in-laws, I’d have nothing. It feels like everyone around me is doing fine, earning well, and building great careers - except me. I’m feeling down, I’m sick of this fucking city and its weather. I just needed to get this off my chest.

So Im looking to get my van wrapped up for my plastering business located in the Netherlands. I have been working on this design lately. The business name translates to: Plaster Corner. The business name AND products already imply for a design with squar (plastered)wall like shapes. So for the sides i made a square like shape in white space, so my logo can be placed in full color. Which im pretty happy about. For the backside im trying to get the following hierarchy, Attracting interest -> contact details ->logo. Im having a hard time on the backside of the van which feels a little cheap for now.

I have 25,000 images like pic related. Old timey engraved images. I found them in old books from Internet Archive before it went belly up. I cleaned them, vectorized them, converted them to backgroundless PNGs. Where can I sell them? I'm trying to get 250 - 300 USofA dollarinos a month. Etsy? What image service should use? I've spent years doing UI, UX, and graphic design. I want to start building some web stuff myself, but I'm daunted by the steep learning curve. HTML and CSS come pretty easy, and I understand the fundamentals of flex. Jumping into this side of things isn't so bad.

But I'm daunted as shit by JS. Suffering through the initial Hello World tutorial sounds brutal, and even beyond JS, merely setting up and maintaining a workspace (vscode, the terminal, installing packages, git, etc.) looks painful.

Anybody know of a decent video course with a tolerable instructor and a focus on modern techniques (flex-centric, good JS framework)?

It's a seminal event that marks the reopening of Detroit’s Michigan central. Truly monumental moment for Detroit, highlighted by the crazy opening concert directed by Eminem and it wasn't worth getting a person to do the poster? Very sad.

Then you should know that at the current year of 2023 graphic design is pretty much dead. I was a professional gd for almost 10 years working in both studios and on my own and I can't really find a job anymore. It's not even because of AI to be honest, its because of how the industry works and how bad the corporate environment has become.

There's still web design, 3D and VFX/motion design(primarily 3D too) and if you want something similar or easy to transition then chose one of those but I'm not sure for how long they will be relevant themselves because of the AI which is basically a final nail in the coffin of gd. Of course there are and will be exceptions and maybe you will get lucky to find some obscure local business that needs you, but if you are young and looking for a career in the future you should stop consider becoming a graphic designer. This profession is dead.
