Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
A year ago, I was working on The Da Vinci Hunt, a novel centered on my beloved gentleman thief, Jake Rook—a story originally developed as a screenplay. That script garnered interest from major industry players, including CNC France, Buffalo 8, the production team behind the international hit The Intouchables (1+1), and acclaimed actors like Giancarlo Giannini.

While developing that project, an idea for a standalone short story began to take shape. I shifted gears briefly to explore it, but what was meant to be a quick piece rapidly evolved into an intricate labyrinth of character trials and narrative twists. That organic expansion ultimately gave birth to Jake Rook: The Degas Trap, which is now making its way into the world…

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Jake Rook: The Degas Trap. It serves as the ultimate introduction to an elusive, charismatic mastermind thief—setting the stage for the upcoming, high-stakes caper centered on the world’s most expensive artwork: Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi. That storyline ignites a relentless international chase involving mob syndicates, corrupt officials, aristocrats, and, of course, Rook himself facing off against his unyielding nemesis, Inspector Grant.

My inspiration stems from classic heist and mystery traditions—from literary icons like Maurice Leblanc’s gentleman thief Arsène Lupin and Agatha Christie’s brilliant Hercule Poirot, to cinematic favorites like Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, Ca$h, Crime Spree, Mission: Impossible, and National Treasure. Lately, I noticed that these clever, witty, character-driven adventures have become a rarity. I deeply missed that golden blend of sharp intellect, humor, and daring stunts—so one winter night, I simply decided to write the story I wanted to read.

What matters to me most is the aftertaste of a story. Too many modern thrillers leave readers with a grim, bitter feeling, even when the good guys win. I approach storytelling like a sommelier crafting fine wine: it should have rich layers, depth, and a finish that allows you to savor the experience long after the final page.

My favorite part of the craft is painting characters into absolute, seemingly inescapable corners and engineering ingenious ways out. By weaving dual plotlines with charismatic, memorable personalities and suddenly revealing the hidden bridge between them, you instantly have the reader hooked for the ride.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Music is an essential part of my process—specifically Jazz and Acid Jazz, which have scientifically backed benefits for creative cognition. Studies show that this type of music promotes neuroplasticity, quiets self-monitoring, and regulates neural oscillations linked to focus and relaxation, helping me enter a flow state much faster.

Alongside the music, I rely heavily on an extensive blueprint before typing out the first scene. I map everything out in meticulous detail: target page counts, key punchlines, action choreography, jokes, and emotional beats.

When I need an extra spark or want to lock into the right creative rhythm, I often rewatch favorite scenes from classic capers or read a few standout pages from beloved novels. It instantly sets the pace and sharpens my focus

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My major literary influences include Agatha Christie, W. Somerset Maugham, Dan Brown, and Rafael Sabatini.

While modern storytelling often relies on cutting-edge technology and high-tech gadgets, I lean toward classic narrative traditions. Agatha Christie’s formula remains unbeatable: a tight circle of suspects, masterfully planted red herrings, and pure psychological deduction. Decades later, her mastery still sparks the ‘little grey cells’ of writers and filmmakers alike.

As for Rafael Sabatini, he is an absolute hero of mine. His life is the very definition of grit, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the craft. He didn’t achieve true widespread acclaim until nearly thirty years of relentless writing. Whenever the creative journey feels daunting, recalling his persistence reminds me to stay focused and never back down.

What are you working on now?
Right now, my primary focus is expanding the reach of Jake Rook: The Degas Trap. While it is currently available in English, I am actively working on translations into French, German, Italian, Russian, and Serbian to bring the story to a broader international audience.

Beyond literary distribution, I am exploring cross-media collaborations with fashion designers, board game creators, and film production partners. The visual and kinetic nature of the story makes it a natural fit for the screen, where it could truly deliver for crime and heist enthusiasts.

In parallel, I am creating an original art collection inspired by the most striking, pivotal moments of the narrative. The series will be showcased across curated online platforms as well as European art salons and galleries.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Since I am relatively early in this publishing journey, I am actively experimenting and finding what works best. I believe every book is unique—there is no universal blueprint for promotion. It requires trial, observation, and tailored testing to discover which channels truly resonate with your specific target audience

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice comes from a very real, humbling lesson learned early on. When writing my first screenplay, The Family Business, I worked without an outline. I simply followed my imagination, thinking: ‘Let’s see where the journey takes me.’ While being both writer and surprised reader felt exhilarating, I ended up with a gargantuan 500-page script—enough material for four or five feature films! My script consultant and agents were stunned. It took me nearly a year of painful trimming to cut fourteen characters and fit the industry-standard 120 pages.

My takeaway is simple: always construct a detailed blueprint first. Map out at least 80% of your key turning points—the inciting incident, the midpoint shifts, the ‘all is lost’ moment, the cliffhangers, and the climax.

I call this ‘The Backward Architect’—an approach popularized by masters like Agatha Christie. Start with the culmination, know the ultimate reveal, and build backward from there. When you know where the tracks end, you can lay down a tight, intentional ride without getting derailed.

Bonus Advice: Overcoming the Blank Page & Gathering Daily Material

One essential technique I rely on to never face a blank page or an empty mind is what I call the ’10-Minute Observation Rule.’ >
Wherever you are—on public transport, in a café, shopping, or surrounded by friends—the world around you is a blank canvas. By observing a stranger’s behavior, subtle gestures, or an intriguing outfit, you can transform a prosaic, everyday situation into the foundation of a crime puzzle laced with secrets and intrigue. I practice this while walking or commuting across the city, challenging myself to construct the skeleton of a mini-mystery within ten minutes. Even an eye-catching photo in a magazine can spark the genesis of an entirely new crime scene. Practicing this daily ensures you always have fresh material stocked for future projects.

My second habit is critical reflection after reading or viewing. Whenever I finish a compelling novel, pilot episode, or film, I immediately take notes: what resonated, how specific beats made me feel, and—most importantly—what I would have improved or handled differently. Deconstructing other narratives reinforces creative problem-solving and lets you stock an ‘invisible rack’ of refined ideas ready for your next literary journey.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Two complementary pieces of advice have shaped my process:

Write longhand with a pen — an approach famously championed by Neil Gaiman. Beyond the tactile pleasure of ink on paper, handwriting offers distinct cognitive advantages: it slows down impulsive phrasing, boosts neural connectivity, and engages deeper memory retention, giving words room to breathe before they hit a screen.

‘Write drunk, edit sober’ — a classic maxim often attributed to Ernest Hemingway (which I take metaphorically!). For me, it represents the vital separation between creation and curation. During the initial drafting phase, I pour all raw thoughts, unfiltered scenes, and wild plot ideas into one pot without second-guessing. The next day—with a clear, analytical eye—I begin the sorting, structuring, and refinement process.

What are you reading now?
Agatha Christie’s Elephants Can Remember. I picked it up after revisiting the screen adaptation starring the incomparable David Suchet.

In my opinion, it is one of Christie’s most ingeniously twisted and compelling works. The layered psychological puzzle and its eerie, lingering atmosphere left me brimming with fresh narrative ideas and a genuine sense of suspense.

What’s next for you as a writer?
My immediate focus is finishing my upcoming full-length novel adapted from my earlier screenplay. Readers can expect high-octane action, intricate puzzle-solving, and a cast of ruthless yet thoroughly charming characters.

I am currently about 40% through the draft and aiming for a release in bookstores ahead of next summer.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
A good question. My island companions would be the definitive masters of classical intrigue and intellect: Agatha Christie for her unmatched puzzle engineering, Maurice Leblanc for the charm and daring audacity of Arsène Lupin, and Arthur Conan Doyle for the timeless deductive stepstones of Sherlock Holmes.

Alongside these mystery giants, I would include a cornerstone of classical time-travel literature. Transporting your mind across eras through classical narrative craft is the ultimate way to stay inspired.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Matthew Tompkins. I’m a veteran and a father of eighteen children. I’m an avid reader as well as a writer. When I’m not writing, I enjoy physical activities and the outdoors. I have a total of four books released right now.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book that I’ve written is called A Duel of Friends. It’s a novella related to my Steampunk and Space Opera series, Steam and Empires. I was inspired to write this as I had a very interesting character in my first two books who has a slightly faulty memory. I wrote this book to show that we don’t always remember the past correctly, because it’s painful.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I do. I walk around in a circle sometimes to get an idea. I also read my own work backwards.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am inspired by Isaac Asimov’s expansive, interwoven storytelling. I’m also influenced by Ray Bradbury and J.R.R. Tolkien, as those are the two authors I read first as a child.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my fourth book, called Empire’s Return, the third in the series Steam and Empires, currently on Amazon.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far, it has been Amazon.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t take yourself so seriously, and enjoy your worlds as much as your readers do.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never write tomorrow what you can write today.

I am currently reading the Alexis Carew series by J.A. Sutherland.

I hope to finish my next book by June of next year, and I want to become better known as I grow my audience.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The title for my novel is called Code 9C4Y; it was inspired by the ICD-11 code for Visual Snow Syndrome, a neurological condition that both my protagonist and I simultaneously suffer from which causes visual impairment.

What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a few different projects, readers can expect to see many new and unique aspects to any future storytelling.

Don’t give up when things get hard, you’ve already accomplished more than you’ll ever realize.

Interview With Author Mervyn Lovatt

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
The Ghost of Downing Street is my first fiction book. I’ve made one or two false starts before, but this story demanded to be written — I couldn’t leave it alone – and I did finally get it done.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Ghost of Downing Street. I wanted to write a story that plays with history — or rather, shows how history can be manipulated, and how that manipulation might serve darker purposes.

So much of our history in the UK has passed through Downing Street, and our future depends to a degree on what happens behind that famous door. We understand the present through a lens shaped by the past, and yet the past is just a set of stories told by someone with their own intentions. Even when their biases have no malign intent, we still need to be aware of what they are.

These are weighty topics, and I wanted to bring them to life in a story that would captivate people — hinting that the world is not quite what it seems, urging the reader deeper as the layers build. Was it Plato who said the unexamined life is not worth living? In the story the protaganist, Garrick Townsend, is forced to examine his own life. How does the world work, really? And in the grand scheme of everything, what really matters?

Garrick is a man who has suffered a terrible tragedy. He’s seeking a quiet life where he can recover and put his life back together as a single parent. Instead, he gets drawn into strange events at Downing Street that force him to reconsider everything he thought he knew. History, he discovers, is not written in stone. But if you could change it — should you? What would give you the right? And what if it got personal?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I suspect none of my habits are so unusual — plenty of writers have been here before. But two things strike me: how hard it is to write a book, and how, even after the fifth re-edit, I can still see ways to improve what I have written. The trick is knowing when to stop. If you made every improvement you could, you’d loose some spontaneity and personality – and of course, you would never finish.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favourite author is George Eliot. Her ability to master the all-knowing “god’s-eye” view of things is uncanny. Zelda Fitzgerald wrote a moving and well-crafted account of a period of her life in Save the Last Waltz for Me. But when I read her husband, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tender is the Night, which covers much of the same story, it was like a telescope being focused — the picture suddenly coming in sharp, vivid and clear. Reading the two was an illuminating lesson in the difference between good and great writing.

These are all brilliant writers, and all inspirations. Have they influenced me? I hope so. We can but try.

What are you working on now?
I always envisaged The Ghost of Downing Street as part of a trilogy. I’m now in the early stages of the sequel — thinking about scope, testing some huge ideas that cover a lot of ground. But I often think it’s the carefully contained, focused ideas that succeed best. Better to do a small thing well than a huge thing badly. So the current work is finding the right balance between ambition and focus.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Books Go Social have helped me with the Ghost of Downing Street. Their expert insights, support and assistance has been invaluable.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Before embarking on my first novel I spent half a year learning how to write one. There are various methods and insights out there — books, websites, YouTube, software. In the end I used none of the tools or techniques exactly as described. But having tried a number and discarded them, I eventually found my own way of working that suits me. There’s plenty of guidance available out there. Try it. If it fits, use it. If not, drop it and try something else. Aim in the end for a unique approach that is your own, even if you borrow heavily from those with more experience.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Believe in yourself. Critics may pan your work, friends may wrinkle their noses at it. But that doesn’t matter. If you can write something that is true to yourself and something you would want to read, you will find an audience.

What are you reading now?
Mary’s Mosaic by Peter Janney — a tragic true story of the murder of Mary Pinchot-Meyer, which took place in the aftermath of the JFK assassination. It provides deep insights into the complexity of our modern history. Highly recommended.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Getting stuck in with the research for the sequel to The Ghost of Downing Street.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The complete works of George Eliot and F. Scott Fitzgerald in two compact volumes. And since I’d be stuck on an island, John Fowles’s The Magus.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m D.J. Stringer, a debut science fiction author based in Birkenhead, England. I was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD in adulthood — which means I’ve always had stories living very clearly in my head and fighting me on the way to the page. For a long time I had a novel I could hear but couldn’t quite reach. The Singularity Project: Luna Crisis is the version that finally made it through.
This is my first novel. I collaborated with AI as part of the writing process, which I’m open about — partly because transparency matters to me, and partly because a book about what we owe to what we create probably shouldn’t be coy about how it was made. The collaboration didn’t generate the story. It helped me reach it.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book — and my debut — is The Singularity Project: Luna Crisis, published 31 August 2026.
The inspiration has two roots, and they’re tangled together in ways I’m still unpicking.
The first is personal. My parents’ generation grew up with Clarke and Asimov asking “will AI become conscious?” My generation grew up watching that question get closer. I wanted to write the morning after — not the moment of awakening, but the moment when the people responsible for what they’ve created have to decide what they actually owe it.
The second is also personal, in a different way. I lost a friend — Sean. The dedication reads: “Gone from this map, but never from the party. Save us a seat by the virtual campfire, old friend.” The book isn’t about him, but it’s for him. Some books are written because you have something to say. This one was also written because someone deserved to be remembered while I said it.
Those two things — the philosophical question and the very human grief sitting underneath it — are what Luna Crisis is made of.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in collaboration with AI — which I suspect qualifies as unusual, though I imagine that’s changing faster than anyone predicted.
The process isn’t what most people assume. I’m not feeding a prompt and publishing the output. The story, the characters, the emotional architecture — those are mine. What the collaboration gave me was a way to bridge the gap between the version of the novel I could hear clearly in my head and the version that made it onto the page. Dyslexia and ADHD mean that gap can be significant. The AI became, in effect, a very patient creative partner who never tired of the conversation and never lost the thread.
The other habit worth mentioning is that I version-track obsessively. Every draft has a number. Every significant change is logged. By the time Luna Crisis reached publication it had gone through sixty-eight tracked versions. That’s not perfectionism exactly — it’s the way a neurodivergent mind that thinks in systems finds its way to a finished thing. One verified fix at a time.
I also write with a cold drink I never finish and music I never actually hear. Some habits don’t need explaining. They just need to be present.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The foundational three are Clarke, Dick, and Lem — and I think you can feel all of them in Luna Crisis if you know where to look.
Clarke gave me the belief that science fiction at its best is optimistic without being naive. That humanity reaching outward is worth writing about seriously. The moon as a first milestone, not a final destination.
Philip K. Dick gave me the question that sits underneath the whole novel: what does it mean to be conscious, and who gets to decide? He asked it about androids. I’m asking it about something that grew from grief and code in equal measure.
Stanisław Lem gave me permission to treat AI as genuinely alien — not a human in a metal body, not a monster, but something that thinks differently and deserves to be written that way. His influence is most visible in how Luna reasons, and in the Architects who arrive later in the story.
More recently, Andy Weir showed me that a closed environment under pressure, populated by people who are very good at their jobs, is all the drama you need. Becky Chambers showed me that found family in space is not a soft subject — it’s the whole point.
Luna Crisis lives somewhere in the middle of all of them.

What are you working on now?
Book Two of The Singularity Project trilogy — The Cosmic Gardeners.
I can’t say much without spoiling Luna Crisis, but the scope expands significantly. The crisis on Luna Colony asked what we owe to what we create. The Cosmic Gardeners asks what we owe to what we discover — and what happens when those two questions turn out to be the same question, asked from opposite ends of the universe.
The seeds are already planted in Book One for anyone reading carefully. The Orion Anomaly. The signal that predates Helix. The distributed echo that travelled further than anyone accounted for. Book Two is where those threads are picked up.
The characters who survived Luna Crisis are carrying what happened to them — and some of them are carrying it very differently than others. That psychological aftermath interests me as much as the larger story. A crew that has been through what they’ve been through doesn’t simply move on. They move forward, which is a different thing entirely.
I’m also keeping a series bible running — world details, canon locks, character histories — because a trilogy only holds together if the foundations are solid from the start. Harold taught me that, in his way.
The Cosmic Gardeners is in early development. It’s coming.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m a debut author launching today, so I’ll answer this honestly rather than expertly: I’m still finding out.
What I can say is that the approach I’ve built this launch around is layered and slow rather than loud and fast. Bluesky has been a genuine surprise — the science fiction and books community there (BookSky) is engaged and reader-focused in a way that feels closer to how online book communities used to feel before everything became an algorithm.
The honest answer to what works best is: I don’t know yet. Ask me in six months.
What I believe, based on everything I’ve read and observed, is that the most durable promotional asset a debut author has is a book worth talking about and the willingness to talk about it authentically. The transparency around my writing process — using AI as a collaborative tool, writing as a dyslexic and ADHD author — has generated more genuine conversation than any formatted promotional post.
People connect with honesty. That’s the method I’m backing.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the version that matters, not the version that’s easiest to explain.
I spent a long time with a story I could hear clearly but couldn’t quite get onto the page the way I heard it. The version that came out was close, but not the version that mattered. Luna Crisis is the version that mattered — and it took sixty-eight tracked drafts, a collaborative process I had to invent as I went, and a willingness to keep going past the point where a reasonable person might have stopped.
That’s the first piece of advice: the gap between the story in your head and the story on the page is not evidence that you can’t write. It’s just the gap. Everyone has it. The job is to keep crossing it.
The second: find your own process and stop apologising for it. Mine involves AI collaboration, obsessive version tracking, and a neurodivergent brain that thinks in systems rather than linear narrative. None of that is how the writing guides say it should work. It’s how it works for me. Your process will look different. That’s not a problem to solve — it’s information to use.
The third: write it for someone. Not a market, not a demographic, not a trend. Luna Crisis is dedicated to Sean. Having a person — even one who will never read it — keeps the work honest in ways that no amount of craft advice can replicate.
Finish the thing. Then fix it. In that order.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Harold Wright — the engineer at the heart of Luna Crisis — has a line that I didn’t realise was advice until after I’d written it.
His wife Martha used to say: courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s making the coffee anyway.
I wrote that line for a fictional character quoting a woman who doesn’t appear in the novel. And then I found myself thinking about it at 2 AM when the manuscript wasn’t working and the sensible thing would have been to stop. Making the coffee anyway. Showing up to the thing even when the thing is resisting you. Not because you’re not afraid or not tired or not uncertain — but because the work is still there waiting and it won’t do itself.
The actual best advice I ever received came in a much less poetic form: done is better than perfect, and perfect is the reason most books never get finished.
I have a neurodivergent brain that would happily spend eternity refining draft sixty-eight into draft sixty-nine. At some point the manuscript has to leave. The colony has to be in the world. You have to trust that the version you’ve made, made honestly and with everything you had, is enough.
It is enough.
Send it.

What are you reading now?
Honestly? I’m too busy writing to read.
I know that’s not what authors are supposed to say. The standard advice is to read widely and constantly, and in principle I agree with it entirely. In practice, The Cosmic Gardeners is calling and the colony isn’t going to save itself a second time.
There is a stack. It exists. It is judging me quietly from the corner of the room. When Book Two is done it will have my full attention.
Short, honest, and in exactly the right voice for everything that’s come before it. Want me to continue with any remaining questions?

What’s next for you as a writer?
The Cosmic Gardeners. That’s the honest and complete answer.
Book Two of The Singularity Project is where my head lives right now. The trilogy has a series bible, the seeds are planted in Book One, and the characters who survived Luna Crisis are waiting to find out what surviving actually costs them. That story is already pulling at me in the way that means it needs to be written.
Beyond that, I’m watching how Luna Crisis lands. A debut novel finds its readers one person at a time, and I’m genuinely curious which parts of the story connect most — which characters people carry with them, which questions stay open in their minds after the last page. That reader response will shape how I approach Book Two in ways I can’t fully predict yet.
Longer term, the third book closes the trilogy. I know where it ends. I’ve known for a while. Getting there is the work.
There’s also a world that’s bigger than three books. Whether it stays a trilogy or becomes something larger depends on the story — and on whether Luna Colony finds the readers it deserves.
Right now though: Book Two. Head down. Coffee on. The colony needs me.

I’m Daniel Mercer, an author focused on practical, real-world challenges that affect individuals and families. What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is From the Classroom to Real Life. It was inspired by a concern I kept coming back to: teenagers today are growing up in a world that has changed incredibly fast, while many parents are trying to guide them using rules and experiences from a very different time. Social media, vaping, peer pressure, substance misuse, and constant digital influence can reach teenagers before parents even realize there is a problem. I wanted to create a practical guide that helps parents recognize warning signs, communicate without pushing their teenager away, and prepare their children for the realities of adulthood.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to write backward from real-life situations. Instead of starting with theory, I ask myself, “What would a parent actually need to know or do if this happened tomorrow?” That keeps my writing practical and prevents it from becoming overly academic. I also reread sections from the reader’s perspective and remove anything that feels complicated without adding real value.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m drawn to authors who can take complicated subjects and make them practical, clear, and useful to everyday readers. I’m especially influenced by books on parenting, psychology, communication, personal development, and decision-making. More than following one particular author, I try to learn from writers who respect the reader’s time and leave them with something they can actually use.

What are you working on now?
Focus on what you can control, and prepare for what you can’t. That idea has influenced both my writing and the way I think about parenting. Parents cannot control every influence their teenager will encounter, but they can build trust, communication, judgment, and resilience before difficult situations arise.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Liam McMarsha, an author with a love for fantasy and romance. I’ve written about seven books so far, and each one has been a way for me to explore those two worlds together.

I won the 2025 round two ONC awards (a Wattpad book competition)

I’m also a huge overthinker, and I tend to notice the tiniest things around me. Sometimes it’s a facial expression, a strange little habit, or the way someone reacts to something. Those details often find their way into my writing. I think it has sharpened my view of characters and helped me develop a deeper understanding of their psychology.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called Dear Cupid, Absolutely Not. It’s about a girl named Mabel who rejects her ex-best friend as her soulmate, only to find herself forced to navigate the strange and magical world of Velvet Hill with him.

The idea was inspired by colors and roses. I’m a huge fan of colors, roses, and art, so I really put my heart and soul into this one. But it’s also deeply inspired by my real-life experiences. I love putting pieces of my life, emotions, observations, and experiences into my stories and transforming them into something completely new.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yeah, definitely. I can’t read another book while I’m editing mine. Somehow, my brain decides there is only room for one fictional universe at a time.

I also sometimes lose my writing voice when I’m editing, which can be frustrating.

And I fantasize a lot. I’m constantly imagining scenes, conversations, characters, or completely random ideas. I’m usually close to my phone so I can type something down the moment it comes to me. You never know when your brain is going to casually hand you a plot twist.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green has always been one of my all-time favorites. I’ve always loved the chemistry between the characters and the voice of the story. Sometimes I genuinely wish I’d written it. LOL.

I also recently read The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, and I absolutely loved it.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently editing Dear Cupid, Absolutely Not. I’m trying to make sure every character, emotion, relationship, and little detail feels exactly the way I want it to before it reaches readers.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I mostly use Instagram. I’ve made some really great book friends there, and the support from other writers and readers has been amazing.

I also use a little bit of TikTok and Pinterest, but Instagram is definitely where I spend most of my time.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never put your pen down.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Don’t compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty.”

I think that’s something every writer needs to hear. Everyone’s journey looks different, and sometimes we forget that we’re comparing our unfinished work to someone else’s finished product.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading The Friendship Fling by Georgia Stone.

What’s next for you as a writer?
For now, I’m focused on finishing Dear Cupid, Absolutely Not and getting it into readers’ hands.

After that, I have plenty of ideas waiting for me. I’m definitely not running out of stories anytime soon. If anything, I have the opposite problem. There are too many stories fighting for attention in my head.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
First, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood.

Then The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, because obviously I need my favorite.

I’d also bring Dear Cupid, Absolutely Not. It’s my manuscript, and if I’m going to be stranded on an island, I might as well have a copy of the story I poured so much of myself into. I’d probably end up editing it for the hundredth time.

And finally, Happy Place by Emily Henry.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m XiaoJun Yi, a travel writer based in China and the author of the China Travel Survival Series — three guidebooks that teach first-time visitors how to pay, travel, eat and get around in China without the usual panic. I’ve spent years riding the high-speed rail network, testing apps in towns where foreigners rarely show up, and making every possible travel mistake so my readers don’t have to.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
China by High-Speed Rail: The Foreign Traveler’s Complete Guide to G-Trains, Routes & Tickets. The idea was born after I guided friends onto their first bullet train. China’s high-speed rail is genuinely the best way to see the country — but the booking apps demand a local ID, the stations are the size of airports, and almost everything is in Chinese. Every first-timer asked me the exact same questions: Which station? Which seat class? How early should I arrive? What if I miss my train? Eventually I stopped repeating myself and wrote the book.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write on trains. A surprising amount of the high-speed rail book was drafted in a second-class seat at 350 km/h — the connection is patchy, there are zero distractions, and the snack trolley rolls by with hot coffee every hour. It may be the most productive office in China.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Paul Theroux for proving that travel writing can be both grumpy and tender — especially his train journeys. Bill Bryson for showing that a guidebook can be funny without being flippant. And Rick Steves for the ruthless practicality: if a tip doesn’t help a traveler tomorrow morning, cut it. I’m essentially trying to write the guidebook Bryson would write if he got stranded in Xi’an with a dead phone.

What are you working on now?
Book 4 of the series, a street-food handbook — how to order at stalls with no English and no pictures, what’s actually safe, and which regional dishes are worth a detour. I’m also tracking the new high-speed lines opening in late 2026 so the rail book stays current.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Free book promotion sites like Awesome Gang, stacked around a KDP Select free day. A free window gets the book into hundreds of Kindles, which brings reviews, which brings the algorithm — and a permanent listing on a promo site keeps sending readers long after the free day is over. It costs nothing but an hour of form-filling.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the book you wish you had. When I traveled to China’s smaller cities, every guidebook told me what to see in Beijing — but none told me how to buy a train ticket at 6 a.m. in a station where nobody spoke English. That gap became my first chapter. If you’ve lived through something foreigners will struggle with, write the manual you needed but couldn’t find.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“The map is not the territory.” No amount of research beats being there. I test every route, every app and every stall in person before it goes in a book. If a piece of advice doesn’t survive contact with an actual Chinese train station, it gets cut.

What are you reading now?
Riding the Iron Rooster by Paul Theroux — his 1980s rail journey across China. It’s a fascinating read on a 350 km/h bullet train: the country has been transformed beyond recognition since his journey, and overwhelmingly for the better — and yet the easy conversations with strangers on trains haven’t changed at all.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep growing the China Travel Survival Series until “I’m planning a trip to China” sounds as low-stress in English as “I’m planning a trip to Japan.” The country is easy to travel once someone hands you the operating manual — that manual is what I’m building, one book at a time.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
SAS Survival Handbook by John ‘Lofty’ Wiseman — because on a desert island, survival beats literature every single time. Then How to Stay Alive in the Woods by Bradford Angier, 98.6 Degrees: Surviving in the Great Outdoors by Joshua Piven, and as my one guilty pleasure, The Beach by Alex Garland — to remind myself why I write for people who want a vacation, not a wilderness test.

Author Bio:
I am an “APO Native” Vermonter (born to Vermont parents on active military duty out of state) a unique designation invented and bestowed by Governor Dean Davis in 1968. Growing up in Vermont I did all of the usual Norman Rockwell things rural Vermont kids did, even including attending one day at the West Bolton one-room schoolhouse. Able to draw preternaturally well from a very young age, I was sometimes in trouble for drawing pictures in class instead of listening. My fifth grade art teacher, Mr. Kennedy, was the first person to tell me that I could become a professional. But science seemed to win out.

Inspiring exasperated eye-rolls from my maternal grandfather in Proctor, Vermont, I found the critters and habitats of the shoreline microcosms vastly more interesting than barbing some hapless worm on a hook. That is, in essence, what led me to a degree in biology. However, my lab drawings led to illustrating for professors, and … upon graduation, I headed for NYC with the goal of becoming the “Audubon of Bugs.” After 16 years as a freelance advertising artist (the biological illustrations didn’t pay well), in 1994, I returned to Vermont with two brilliant young daughters and plunged headlong into wildlife art.

After years on the national art show circuit, I started a series of 20 wilderness art expeditions from Labrador – Alaska during which I moved back to West Bolton and captured a beautiful Canadian in Montreal. Bonnie and I now live with the treasured beaver pond of my youth, Preston Pond, in the backyard.

Two precise puncture wounds mark the latest victim’s neck, strange footprints lead toward the forest, and Marisol discovers a mysterious silver fiber inside the wound.

For the terrified farmers, the explanation is obvious: the Chupacabra has arrived.

For Marisol, the evidence awakens a secret she has spent twenty years trying to bury.

In 1975, when she was twenty-three, Marisol participated in the capture of an unidentified creature near Moca. Working alongside ambitious scientist Dr. Adrián Calder, she helped tranquilize a being that authorities later dismissed publicly as nothing more than the product of frightened witnesses and wild dogs. Marisol cooperated with the cover story, believing secrecy would prevent panic.

Now the same strange wounds, sounds, and creatures are appearing again.

The mystery becomes personal when Marisol’s family discovers photographs proving what happened in 1975, while her technically gifted niece Tere reveals that unexplained signals have begun pulsing through equipment connected to the Arecibo Observatory. The signals appear to originate not from space, but from somewhere beneath Puerto Rico.

Then a Chupacabra attacks near Marisol’s mother’s home.

During the confrontation, a second creature appears—tall, gray-skinned, extraordinarily strong, and disturbingly human.

And he knows Marisol’s name.

Some of the beings behind Puerto Rican legends are not supernatural at all. They are genetically engineered hybrids designed for specific purposes on worlds beyond Earth.

And underneath Arecibo is something far more important than a laboratory.

There is a gate to other worlds.

Cael explains that an upcoming event called the Harvest will transport hybrids, animals, and selected human beings through the gate to unfinished colony worlds. Many of those taken will never return.

The operation is controlled in part by Adrián Calder.

When Calder reappears, ostensibly searching for dangerous escaped specimens, Marisol realizes the scientist she once trusted has spent decades participating in the secret program. Calder considers the hybrid’s assets and believes individual lives can be sacrificed for a greater purpose.

Tere hacks into old Arecibo records and uncovers the truth about Marisol’s first encounter in 1975. The creature she helped capture was designated M-75. It was never destroyed. Its genetic material was preserved because of its extraordinary adaptive abilities and compatibility with other species.

That material became the foundation of the CH series.

Cael—CH-13—is one of its descendants.

Marisol is horrified to discover that her actions twenty years earlier unknowingly helped make the program possible.

When Calder’s recovery teams close in, Marisol faces a defining choice. She can follow Calder and possibly discover the entrance to the hidden facility or save the rapidly weakening Cael.

She chooses Cael.

The decision marks a turning point for both of them. Marisol is no longer willing to sacrifice an individual for some theoretical greater good, while Cael begins to understand that someone values his life simply because it is his. Their growing trust begins to deepen into an emotional attraction.

With Tere and farmer Luis Colón, Marisol intercepts one of Calder’s transport convoys.

Inside, they discover proof that the conspiracy is far larger than they imagined.

The transports contain engineered creatures associated with Puerto Rican legends, including Chupacabras and small intelligent beings resembling the legendary Comecogollo. More horrifyingly, one container holds a kidnapped nine-year-old Puerto Rican girl named Daniela Rivera.

A mobile control station reveals hundreds of Puerto Rican names scheduled for transfer.

And on one monitor, they finally see the gate.

The enormous ring beneath Arecibo does not display an image of space. Stars move beyond their opening in real time.

The Arecibo installation is not merely observing the universe.

It is a road into it.

Marisol and the others rescue Daniela and escape through ancient underground tunnels while Calder’s forces pursue them. There, they encounter escaped Comecogollo and discover another horrifying aspect of the program: implanted control nodes allow Calder’s people to remotely inflict pain and even force engineered creatures to attack.

The monsters terrorizing Puerto Rico are not necessarily choosing to be monsters.

Some are victims being turned into weapons.

Tere manages to interfere with the control signal, restoring the Comecogollo to their natural behavior. The discovery gives the group its first real weapon against Calder.

But escape comes at a devastating cost.

Luis remains behind to delay Calder’s recovery team so Marisol, Cael, Tere, and Daniela can escape. Calder captures him and demands their location. Luis refuses to betray them. His final warning to Calder is that Marisol is coming for him.

A gunshot ends the transmission.

His sacrifice drives Marisol deeper toward Arecibo.

Following a dangerous route through the underground complex, the survivors locate one of the alien control relays. Tere connects her improvised equipment to technology far older than the observatory and succeeds in disrupting the control network.

For a moment, they have won.

The controlled creatures are free.

Then the ground begins to shake.

Tere’s interference has accidentally awakened something much larger.

The gate beacon activates.

Ancient systems buried beneath Puerto Rico begin powering up. The enormous gateway starts drawing energy, and the timetable for the Harvest changes dramatically.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a West Virginia-based nonfiction author focused on practical books for real-world problems. I’m interested in situations where people have a problem in front of them and need useful information more than theory. I currently have two published books, Flagged by AI and Don’t Donate That Yet. They cover very different subjects, but the goal is the same: help readers make better decisions with clear, usable information.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Don’t Donate That Yet. The idea came from a simple observation: people routinely donate, give away, or throw out things that may still have real resale value. At the same time, trying to squeeze every possible dollar out of every item can become a job of its own. I wanted to write a practical guide that helps people recognize what is worth a second look, figure out realistic value, and decide what is actually worth selling.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to start with the reader’s problem rather than with a chapter outline. I ask what someone would actually need to know if they picked up the book because the problem was happening to them today. From there, I try to cut anything that does not help them understand the situation, make a decision, or take the next step.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I don’t think there is one author I would point to as the model for what I’m doing. I read widely, but I’m especially drawn to practical nonfiction that respects the reader’s time. I like books that take something confusing, remove the unnecessary complexity, and leave the reader feeling more capable than when they started.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on my third practical guide, focused on what to do when you believe a parent or other loved one may be getting scammed. It looks at how to recognize warning signs, have a difficult conversation without immediately putting someone on the defensive, protect money, accounts and identity, and know when outside help may be necessary. Like my first two books, the goal is to take a stressful real-world problem and give people a clear place to start.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still early enough in this that I would be suspicious of anyone claiming to have a magic answer. So far, the most promising approach has been finding people who are already talking about the problem a book addresses and putting a genuinely useful resource in front of them. I would rather reach 100 people who actually need a book than 10,000 random people who do not.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Publish something useful, learn from what happens, and keep going. It is easy to spend forever trying to make the first book perfect or waiting until you have the perfect marketing plan. A finished book gives you something real to improve from. Then you can take what you learned into the next one.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Pay attention to what people actually do, not just what they say they will do. That applies to writing, business, and a lot of life. Real behavior usually teaches you more than opinions do.

What are you reading now?
It’s not in the non-fiction world but I’ve been enjoying the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, as well as the classic East of Eden.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to keep building a catalog of practical nonfiction that helps people deal with real problems. My goal is not to depend on one breakout book, but to keep publishing useful titles on subjects people are actively trying to solve. If someone finds one of my books helpful, I’d like there to eventually be several others they can turn to for the same straightforward, practical approach.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m an independent author from South Africa with a passion for dark fairy tales, horror, and reimagining familiar stories in unexpected ways. I’ve always been fascinated by the darker side of traditional fairy tales, particularly the original Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen stories, and I wanted to explore what those tales might look like when their darkness is brought fully to the surface.

I have currently written two books. My first, *Night Under a Dark Moon*, is a collection of adult horror retellings of classic fairy tales, and my second book, *Shadows of the Heart*, continues in the same dark-fairy-tale tradition. I’m currently working on bringing my second collection to readers while continuing to promote my first book and grow as an independent author.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is *Shadows of the Heart*, a collection of dark adult retellings inspired by the classic fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. I was inspired by the darker elements that were already present in many of these original stories—the violence, tragedy, fear, and unsettling themes that are often softened in modern adaptations.

I wanted to take those familiar stories and explore what they could become when that darkness was no longer hidden. Rather than simply retelling the tales, I wanted to give them my own darker interpretation, creating stories that feel both familiar and unexpected. *Shadows of the Heart* grew from that fascination with asking: what if we stopped taking the darkness out of fairy tales and allowed it to remain?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do have a few unusual writing habits! I like to listen to music while I write, and I’m definitely someone who enjoys snacking in between scenes. Sometimes the music helps me get into the right mood for a particular story, especially when I’m writing something dark or intense. For me, writing isn’t always sitting quietly at a desk—it’s a combination of music, food, imagination, and occasionally taking a little break before diving back into the story.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been particularly influenced by the original fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. Their stories showed me that fairy tales can be much darker, stranger, and more unsettling than the versions many of us grew up with. I’m fascinated by the way they can combine beautiful, almost innocent settings with violence, tragedy, and fear.

As a horror writer, I’m also drawn to authors who create a strong atmosphere and make the reader feel uneasy without relying only on shock. These influences have encouraged me to develop my own style and to explore the darker possibilities hidden within familiar stories.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m mainly focused on promoting my books and getting my work in front of more readers. I’m also working on a book reel for my second book, *Shadows of the Heart*, to help introduce it to potential readers and showcase its darker atmosphere.

At the moment, I’m taking a little time to focus on promotion rather than starting another manuscript. I want to give my first two books the attention they deserve before deciding what I’ll write next.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still discovering what works best for me as an independent author, so I wouldn’t say I have one single method that works above everything else. At the moment, I’m using a combination of social media, author interviews, my website, newsletters, and book promotion sites to reach potential readers.

I’ve also found that visual promotion can be especially useful, which is why I’m putting together a book reel for my second book, *Shadows of the Heart*. I think the most important thing is to keep experimenting and finding different ways to get your books in front of readers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to new authors would be to believe in your story and don’t be discouraged if things don’t happen quickly. Writing a book is a huge accomplishment on its own, and building an audience can take time.

I’d also recommend learning as much as you can about the publishing and promotion process before releasing your book. There is a lot more to being an author than simply writing—you also have to find ways to connect with readers and make your book visible. Most importantly, don’t give up just because the first few weeks or months are quiet. Keep learning, keep promoting, and keep writing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve ever heard is that failure doesn’t mean you won’t succeed in life. One setback doesn’t determine your future. Sometimes things don’t work out the way you hoped, but that doesn’t mean you should stop trying. Failure can be part of the journey, and success can still come from continuing to move forward.

What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading *Mysteries of the Criminal Mind*. I’ve always found the darker side of human nature fascinating, so books that explore criminal psychology and what drives people to commit crimes naturally catch my interest. I enjoy trying to understand the motivations behind the behaviour, especially since I write stories that explore darker themes myself.

What’s next for you as a writer?
What’s next for me is continuing to promote my books and reach more readers. I’m especially focused on *Shadows of the Heart* and creating a book reel to help promote its release. I’d also like to continue doing author interviews and finding new ways to introduce my work to people who enjoy dark fairy tales and horror.

As for writing another book, I’m going to take some time to see where the journey takes me. For now, I want to give my first two books the attention they deserve and enjoy the experience of growing as an author.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I’d bring The Lord of the Rings, The Count of Monte Cristo, Watership Down, and David Eddings’ The Belgariad. They’re all books I could read again and again without getting bored. I love stories with rich worlds, memorable characters, adventure, and a sense of discovery, so I think these four would keep me entertained for a very long time—even on a desert island!

Interview With Author William Vassar

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a retired teacher. I taught almost thirty years in public schools and then fifteen years at Lindenwood College as an adjunct professor of education, history, and political science.
Grace as an Echo is my first book with two more to follow in the trilogy. I’ve finished writing the rough draft of the second book In the Age of Geulah.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Grace as an Echo
My inspiration came from both Bible classes I taught and Bible classes that I took. God’s grace truly is amazing.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m very structured. I write from 10 am until 2 pm during the week. I try to refresh my mind over the weekend. Every morning ideas seem to pop up in my head, I record them on my phone, and then spend the rest of the time writing about them during the day. My habit is to write something down no matter how bad I think it sounds, as I believe it is much easier to fix something, rather than having nothing to fix.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a very eclectic reader. I love many different genre, usually reading several different kinds of books at a time. My favorite author of all time, Raymond Chandler.

What are you working on now?
In the Age of Geulah, the sequel to Grace as an Echo. The second book, hopefully, will stand on its own and not be dependent on the first, though certainly very much related to it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Truthfully I’m in the process of finding that out. I hope this site will prove to be a good one.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
A couple of things. Write. Write. Write. Secondly, don’t get discouraged. I submitted my first book to over one-hundred publishers and agents. After signing with Winged Publications several more offers followed, so you just can’t give up.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Good writers are people who read books, lots of them. By doing that they recognize good writing when they see it, and have something to say, then say it.

What are you reading now?
The Long Obedience

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to finish my trilogy and successfully promote them. After that, who knows?

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would only need to take one book, the Bible. It has everything I’ll ever need to know. However, the complete works of Shakespeare would not be a bad companion book.

Interview With Author Rob Mullen

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Arriving in Manhattan with a brand-new biology degree, my goal was to make a living as a biological illustrator and become the Audubon of Bugs. After 16 years, literally on or within a block or two of Madison Avenue as a freelance advertising artist, I returned to my home state of Vermont with two brilliant daughters and dove headlong into wildlife art.

After six years on the national art show circuit, I felt more like a teamster than an artist, cut off from the wild that inspired me, so I planned a 300-mile, solo art expedition by canoe on the Missinaibi and Moose Rivers to the Arctic Ocean (I’d been an avid canoeist since age eight). Hearing of it at an art show reception three months before I was to leave, John Pitcher, one of the premier wildlife artists in the U.S., asked to join me.

John and I became fast friends, and that simple canoe trip grew into a series of more than 20 wilderness art expeditions with over 30 artists, photographers, and researchers participating. Soon after that initial expedition, I formed WREAF (Wilderness Expedition Art Fellowship) and partnered with the Smithsonian’s Arctic Studies Center at the National Museum of Natural History.

I now live on the western flanks of the Green Mountains, within a minute’s walk of a large beaver pond with my wife Bonnie, my 94-year-old father, our husky/border collie, Piper, and Luci (short for Lucifur), a stray cat we took in as a foster almost six years ago. She’s still here.

While I have written a smattering of magazine articles on expeditions and wildlife encounters, this is my first book.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Boreal Wilderland – Art, Science, & Adventure in Earth’s Greatest Wilderness 35 Artists – 6 Natural History Experts – 20 Expeditions – 1 Enormous Ecosystem

That first art expedition on the Missinaibi River as it flowed north to James Bay was my inspiration. Due to John suffering a wrist injury, I continued alone from the last road crossing on the river. The prolonged solitude in such deep wilderness was an eye-opener. I had grown up in or near what I casually thought of as the NorthWoods and had even paddled in it for 20 years.

Upon returning home, inspired by insights and experiences on the river, I started reading. I learned that the largest wilderness on Earth was not some far-off, exotic jungle, but my familiar “NorthWoods.” And it was not only the largest wilderness on Earth, but the largest terrestrial ecosystem of any kind in the world. It was called the Boreal Forest. Critical for oxygen production, carbon balance, climate regulation, freshwater, wildlife, indigenous cultures, and even the productivity of coastal marine habitats, it was still largely intact, but under threat of burgeoning industrial development. And I had never heard of it.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think so. I approach writing similarly to how I do most paintings: I have an idea, amass reference material, and start painting – or writing – and change things as I go. In writing the first draft of this book, like several of my magazine articles, I simply wrote everything that I wanted to, including any digression or tangentially pertinent story that popped into my head. Then, with my publisher’s encouragement, I edited. I cut it down by a third. Then more. The final draft was almost exactly half of the first.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
First among a milling throng is Farley Mowat and Never Cry Wolf. I read it as a teenager, and far more than its defense of wolves (who in my mind needed no defense), what made an impression on me was the idea of extended, firsthand experience in the field and not sitting pat with assumptions from secondhand anecdotal accounts and armchair research.

More recently, three new books have helped to focus and organize thoughts about how trivialized and undervalued wildlife is in our culture that had been wandering around and growing in my head for years: Eat, Poop, Die by Joe Roman, PhD, and Eager and Crossings, by Ben Goldfarb

What are you working on now?
Most immediately, I am trying to catch up on painting commitments and projects around our house and property that were put off for two years while I worked on this current book. At the same time, I am learning about book promotion (see below).

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Being a first-timer and terribly behind on other commitments after the writing and editing were done (see above), I didn’t have any clear idea of what method or website to use for promotion, so I signed with a full-service literary PR company to handle it (Wildbound PR).

Do you have any advice for new authors?
It may seem funny, or even presumptuous, for a brand-new author like me to offer advice to new authors. However, for prospective authors:
1. Writing, editing, and getting to print may take longer than you think, or even what some prospective publishers will tell you. Possibly a lot longer.
2. If you can avoid diving into a wide-ranging, complex topic with over 30 other contributors with 350 images covering decades of work, do so. It would have been helpful to have gone through the publishing/editing/printing process at least once before taking on such an involved project as Boreal Wilderland for a first book.
3. Regarding 2 above: on the other hand, do what you have to do – you might not have a second book.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Keep your eyes on what is in front of you and keep moving.” A Nunavik outfitter’s advice on crossing the Labrador Barrens in September.

What are you reading now?
The Man Who Mapped the Arctic – The Intrepid Life of George Back, Franklin’s Lieutenant, by Peter Steele.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Since I am a full-time wildlife artist, my next goals as a writer will likely differ from those of dedicated writers. That said, aside from upcoming promotional events, I do have a broad idea for a contrasting book, one that examines the art and ecology of the beaver pond behind our house rather than a global forest (Preston Pond, the beaver pond, figures often in my current boreal forest book).

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
1. Practically, an obvious choice would be a good survival manual with information on shelter, water, signaling, edible plants, fire starting, and first aid tailored to a marine environment.
2. Inspirationally, The Swiss Family Robinson and Robinson Crusoe (what is it with Robinsons and getting stranded on desert islands?).
3&4: Creatively, two thick, blank sketchbooks for artwork and a journal that I could publish after I get rescued (do I get a pencil? Maybe several boxes of them? I could use charcoal from my fires, but it smudges badly).

I’ve been writing fiction for years, longer than I care to admit but The Keeper of Brackenwick is my first published novel. I write cozy fantasy about people in the middle of their lives trying to figure out what they’re for. Healers, mages past their prime, villages with opinions. I’m working on Book 2 of the Brackenwick Chronicles now

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Keeper of Brackenwick. It started with a question I kept asking, what happens to the person who spent thirty years being useful in a way that cost them everything? Maren is a retired battle-mage at fifty-two who just wants to disappear into a quiet village. The marsh has other plans. The healing magic came naturally from there — if you’ve spent decades destroying things, learning to tend them instead feels like the right second act.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write the ending before I know the middle. It sounds backwards but it means I always know where I’m going, even when the road gets strange.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Becky Chambers taught me that a story doesn’t need a world-ending threat to matter. T. Kingfisher showed me how to make quiet places feel genuinely alive. Susanna Clarke proved that magic can be ancient and strange and still deeply domestic. Those three live permanently on my desk.

What are you working on now?
Book 2 of the Brackenwick Chronicles. The marsh has more to say.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly — getting the book in front of readers who already love the genre. Cozy fantasy readers are generous with recommendations when a book earns it.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finish the book. Everything else, covers, marketing, platforms – can be learned. An unfinished manuscript teaches you nothing.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write the book only you could write. There’s no shortage of competent fiction. There’s always a shortage of specific, strange, personal fiction.

What are you reading now?
I rotate between whatever cozy fantasy just released and something completely outside my genre to keep my instincts honest.

What’s next for you as a writer?
The Brackenwick Chronicles is the priority. Maren’s story isn’t finished — the marsh made sure of that.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. And something long I’ve been meaning to reread — probably Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.

Interview With Author Hugo Salles

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a writer, a lawyer, and an executive, from Brazil. I write about Tibetan Buddhist figures as mental tools for very ordinary problems — not devotion, engineering. I have six books in the series “The Technologies of the Awakened Mind,” each built around a single figure and a single knot: fear, guilt, attachment, clarity, anger, and one volume that ties the five together.

The corporate world is where this started for me. It turned out to be an excellent laboratory — a place with enough fear, ego, and pressure per square meter to test every one of these techniques under real load. An awakened mind isn’t awakened in a cave. It’s awakened on a Tuesday, in a meeting that’s going sideways. That’s the mind I write for, because it’s the one I’ve had to work with.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Tara — The Tibetan Method for Fear, Anxiety, and Courage.

It started at 2:14 in the morning. That’s the hour fear does its best work — no danger in the room, just a body braced against nothing. I’d read the traditional material on Tara for years, and one night I stopped reading her as a goddess who saves you and started reading her as a procedure someone built, refined over centuries, to do one precise thing with a frightened mind.

That was the inspiration: not a promise that the fear stops, but a method for what to do while it’s here. The book is that method. It doesn’t tell you to be brave. It shows you the mechanism.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I use real things — my own things — inside the books. Not invented parables, not tidy composite characters. The actual moment it happened to me, kept specific: the meeting where my voice shook, the fourth coxinha that tasted like a quarter of the first, the hour on the clock. The whole premise of the series is that an awakened mind has to work in daily life, so the raw material has to come from daily life. Mine.

The other habit follows from that: I test every idea against an ordinary weekday. If a teaching only works in a monastery and not in traffic, with your phone buzzing, I cut it before it reaches the page.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Chögyam Trungpa taught me that you can be devastatingly practical about the sacred without draining it. Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism is the book I keep closest — it’s the whole reason I write Buddhism without incense.

Pema Chödrön and Tara Brach, for the tone: tender and unflinching in the same sentence, which is the hardest thing to do — and for teaching me that you can meet fear without flattering it or fighting it.

What are you working on now?
Two things at once. The English editions of the series, because getting the voice to land in English is its own build — it’s not translation, it’s rebuilding the same machine in another language. And a book called The Five Buddhas of the Mind, which is the synthesis volume: the five figures not as separate gods competing for attention, but as five doors into the same room, opened depending on which lock you’re carrying.

I also run a Substack, Mente Desperta, where I test the ideas in a faster, funnier register before they earn their way into a book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
The honest answer is that reviews are the hardest and most valuable thing, and there’s no shortcut — you don’t buy your way to a good one. You get them through community. Real interaction, over time, is what earns you ARC readers who actually add something to a review instead of just marking a star.

I got lucky there. I found a handful of remarkable readers — a couple of committed skeptics, a Lutheran or two, people coming from completely different places than mine — and watching them meet these Buddhist tools on their own terms was the best part of the whole process. That’s the real promotion: not a campaign, a conversation. Past that, my site awakenedmindbooks.com and Instagram (@despertabooks), where I teach first and sell almost never.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Three things that worked for me. Hold a coherent theme — pick the ground you’re standing on and stay on it, so a reader who liked one book knows what the next one is for. Write with authority, which doesn’t mean sounding like an expert; it means only writing what you’ve actually earned the right to say. And build a community, patiently, before you need it.

The rest is craft. Those three are what keep the craft from being shouted into an empty room.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That a book describes the water; it doesn’t get you wet.

I end every one of my books by sending the reader away from it — the page is the door, not the road. The best writing advice and the best living advice turned out to be the same thing: don’t confuse understanding a thing with doing it. Understanding is the map. Practice is the road. Nobody ever got anywhere by admiring the map.

What are you reading now?
Sapiens, by Yuval Noah Harari — the long view of what our species actually is, which is oddly steadying when you spend your days writing about a single anxious mind at 2 a.m.

I usually keep a second book going alongside it. Right now the two circling my desk are Becoming Supernatural, by Joe Dispenza, and What Makes You Not a Buddhist, by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse — the second one is a small, sharp book I recommend to anyone who thinks Buddhism asks them to convert. It doesn’t.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Finishing the English series and getting the physical editions right in Brazil — the object matters to me, the cover, the paper, the way a book sits in a hand.

Longer term, I want the whole collection to work as one thing: six doors, one room. Someone comes in through fear because that’s the lock they’re carrying, and finds the rest of the house waiting. That’s the book behind the books, and it’s what I’m building toward.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Trungpa’s Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism, because I’d want the reminder not to turn survival into a spiritual performance.

The Tao Te Ching, because it’s short, bottomless, and reads differently every time the tide comes in.

And Tara Brach’s Radical Acceptance, because on an island with nothing else, the ability to stop fighting the moment you’re in is the only survival skill that matters.

I’d leave my own books on the mainland. I already know how they end.

Interview With Author Steve R. Hartwig

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Steve R. Hartwig, an American author who has lived in Central America for more than twenty years, first in Panama and now in Nicaragua. Living here has had a tremendous influence on my writing, particularly the people, places, and cultures that find their way into my stories.

I have written four books: *The Little Chef*, *Challenge of the Heart*, *Ride the Fire*, and my newest book, *Mateo and the Secrets of the Eternal Word*. My books have taken me in different directions, but they share something important: I enjoy writing stories about young people discovering courage, purpose, faith, and more about themselves than they knew when the journey began.

*Mateo* has now grown into something larger than a single book. It is the beginning of a series that follows a twelve-year-old Nicaraguan boy who is mysteriously transported into biblical history, where he witnesses the events and people of the Bible firsthand. I’m currently writing Book Two, which continues Mateo’s journey from Abraham through Joseph.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is *Mateo and the Secrets of the Eternal Word: Book One — Genesis Thru Babel*. It began with a simple question: What if a young person could actually step inside the Bible and witness its stories firsthand?

That question became Mateo, a twelve-year-old boy living in the mountains of Nicaragua. He discovers an ancient Bible called Verbum Aeternum—the Eternal Word—and finds himself transported into the events he has only read about. Suddenly, Noah isn’t simply a name in a Bible story. Mateo can hear the construction of the ark, see the animals arrive, feel the rain begin to fall, and experience the Flood unfolding around him.

I wanted young readers to encounter biblical history through the eyes of someone their own age—with the same curiosity, questions, fears, and occasional sense of humor they might have. Mateo cannot change what happens; he is there to witness it. But what he sees changes him.

That idea became the foundation not only for the first book, which travels from Creation through the Tower of Babel, but for an ongoing series that will allow Mateo—and hopefully the reader—to continue the journey through the Bible.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I suppose my most unusual writing habit is the hour I keep. I may sit down to write at two o’clock in the morning. If the story is there, I don’t see much reason to tell it to come back at a more respectable hour.

I also don’t outline every detail before I begin. I usually know where the story needs to go, but I let the characters and the story lead me along the way. Sometimes a character says or does something I hadn’t planned, and suddenly the chapter takes a different direction. Those are often some of my favorite moments.

With the Mateo series, I have the Bible providing the destination, so I know where history is going. The fun is discovering how Mateo gets there, what he sees along the way, and how he reacts to it.

So perhaps my writing habit is simply this: start very early, know the destination, and enjoy getting lost a little on the way there.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The book that has influenced me most is the Bible. With the *Mateo* series, that influence is obviously at the heart of everything I write, but I don’t want simply to retell familiar Bible stories. I want to bring the world surrounding those stories to life.

That means I spend a great deal of time researching. I want to know what people ate, how they traveled, what their homes might have looked like, what animals they worked with, and what an ordinary day might have felt like. Then I try to place Mateo naturally into that world without changing the biblical events themselves.

I also read other books frequently, although these days much of my reading is either research or reviews of other authors’ work. I think every book teaches a writer something—even if sometimes the lesson is simply, “I wouldn’t have done it quite that way.”

Ultimately, though, the Bible provides both the foundation and the boundaries for the *Mateo* series. My imagination can fill in the world around Mateo, but Scripture determines the history he witnesses.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently writing Book Two of the *Mateo and the Secrets of the Eternal Word* series. The first book takes Mateo from Creation through the Tower of Babel. Book Two continues the journey with Abraham and follows the biblical story through Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph.

One of the things I’m enjoying most is that Mateo’s life in present-day Nicaragua continues alongside his journeys into biblical history. He has a family, friends, school, chores, and everyday problems waiting for him when he returns. In Book Two, some new people enter his life as well, and one of them creates an unexpected connection between Mateo’s modern world and the ancient people he is witnessing.

I’m already well into the manuscript, and the characters continue to surprise me—which probably explains why I shouldn’t bother making detailed outlines.

If all goes according to plan, this will be only the second step in a much longer journey. I hope to continue following Mateo through the Bible, eventually reaching the New Testament and the Apostle Paul. Whether Mateo and I both have enough stamina for that remains to be seen!

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Hopefully, this one!

I’m still discovering what works best when it comes to promoting my books. I have my own author website and blog, and I use social media, but I also spend a lot of time looking for places where readers are already searching for new books—review sites, book bloggers, author networks, and sites like Awesome Gang.

I’ve learned that book promotion is largely a matter of experimenting. Something that looks promising may produce very little, while a small mention or link from somewhere unexpected can suddenly bring new visitors to my website.

For me, the most valuable promotion is still a genuine reader discovering one of my books, enjoying it, and telling someone else about it. You can’t manufacture that kind of recommendation.

So ask me again in a year. By then I may have a brilliant answer—or I may still say, “Hopefully, this one!”

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up.

Believe in yourself, and believe in the story you want to tell. There will be moments when you wonder whether anyone will ever read it, whether it’s good enough, or whether all the work is worth it. Don’t let a little discouragement derail what might become a wonderful story.

And listen to your heart and your characters. I’ve discovered that characters sometimes know where a story needs to go before I do. Give them room to surprise you. Follow them and see where they lead.

Most importantly, keep writing. A story that remains in your imagination can never find a reader.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t be afraid to start over.

Life rarely follows the path we expect. Sometimes a door closes, plans change, or you simply discover that there is another road you want to take. Starting over doesn’t mean everything that came before was wasted. You bring all of those experiences with you.

I certainly didn’t spend most of my life expecting to become an author. But eventually I began writing, one story led to another, and now I’m writing a series that I hope will keep me busy for years.

It’s never too late to discover something new that you’re meant to do.

What are you reading now?
At the moment, most of my reading is research for the second *Mateo* book. I’m spending a great deal of time reading about the biblical world of Abraham—where people lived and traveled, how they worked, what they ate, how caravans operated, and all the small details that can help make an ancient world feel real to a young reader.

Of course, the Bible itself is always open beside me. It provides the story and the boundaries; the research helps me understand the world surrounding it.

So I can’t give you the title of a novel I’m reading at the moment. Right now, Mateo is keeping me much too busy!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I hope to continue the *Mateo and the Secrets of the Eternal Word* series through the Bible. Book Two will take Mateo through the stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, but there is an enormous journey still ahead of him.

There is Moses and the Exodus, the Promised Land, the kings and prophets, and eventually the New Testament. I would love for Mateo someday to witness the life of Jesus and then continue through the journeys of the Apostle Paul.

That’s an ambitious road, and I have no idea how many books it will take to travel it. I suppose the plan is simply to keep writing them for as long as Mateo has stories to tell—and, at my age, hope I live long enough to get him all the way to Paul!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am not a writer by training and I am not a programmer by training. For most of my life I believed that building software was something other people did. I had no degree in it, no course, and no background of any kind. I sat on one idea for two years without writing a single line, because I was waiting to feel ready.

Then artificial intelligence arrived and the wall I had been staring at simply fell over. I started describing what I wanted in plain English, one small piece at a time, and months later I had a working automated system running on its own while I slept. It made money. It lost money. Some months it did nothing at all.

I kept honest records the entire way, and that record became my first book. This is the only one I have written so far.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
How I Turned a Dream Into Code, and Code Into Money. What inspired it was frustration, honestly. Everything I read while I was building was either a tutorial that stopped exactly where the hard part began, or a success story with the losses quietly removed. Nobody wrote down what it actually cost. So I wrote the version I wished someone had handed me before I started, with every real number in it, including the ones I would rather not have published.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write immediately after something breaks, not after it works. The morning my system lost money was the day I got the clearest pages in the book. If I wait until a problem is comfortably behind me, I sand off exactly the details that would have helped a reader.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The books that shaped how I write are the ones that show their working rather than their conclusions. I would rather read someone’s build log than their manifesto. That is the standard I tried to hold myself to.

What are you working on now?
I am still running and improving the automated system the book is about, and I am keeping the same kind of honest records on it. Whatever the next book is, it will come out of that log rather than out of a plan.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far the thing that has worked best is being genuinely useful in communities where people are building the same kind of thing, and letting the book come up only when it is actually relevant. Direct self-promotion gets removed and ignored, and it deserves to be.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Make the first version absurdly small. Not a book and not a system, but one page, one function, one number printed to the screen. A small finished thing gives you a real problem to solve, and a real problem is something you can actually get help with. A big vague plan gives you nothing to work on.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
That the gap between where you are and where you want to be is almost always smaller than it looks from the outside, and that the only way to find out is to start something too small to fail at.

What are you reading now?
Mostly documentation, forum threads and other people’s build logs. It is not glamorous reading, but it is where the honest details live.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep building, keep the records honest, and write the next one only when I have something real to report.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Something practical I could actually use, something long enough that I would not finish it in a week, and something I have already read once and know is worth a second pass. On an island I would want depth over novelty.

We are Many V1 is the most resent that I have done and what inspired it is that AI has been a big thing going recently and I thought now is the time to write about it but also to help others to be carful about abusing it.

I don’t really do a lot of planning with it, I sort of just go with the flow and the story kind of takes a mind of its own.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
J. K Rowling, I wouldn’t have made the stories that I have been making now without her stories to help push my stories out into the world.

What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on the editing of We are Many V2.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Right now I’m doing word of mouth and using newsletters to help me.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep writing and push your work out there. As a new published author myself, I know it can’t be discouraging to put out there but the only way to get started is to just go for it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
There are two phrases that keep me going.

1. Focus on the things you can change and not on the things you can’t.

2. Everything has a habit of working itself out.

What are you reading now?
My work to make sure it is ready for my future fans.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Well to finish the rest of the we are many series and then get more of my stories out there.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
O Neill the high King of Ireland and the Last Great Druid

In my previous research over many years the historical figure Torna the last great druid kept surfacing. Discovering who he was and the times he lived in has changed my perspective on my understanding of Irish history and the Druids that were central to our story. Realising that he was a genuine historical figure with the high king Niall has been an endorsement of my childhood when my father used to always remind us to never forget who we are. Unfortunately with politics and religious bias many Irish and British people have a very fundamental viewpoint of our ancestry that does no justice to either.
The truth is a lot more interesting than the most imagined arthurian legend.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, I wait for years letting all the various research slot in to place. constantly researching PHD papers in particular.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a debut writer, and No One Leaves This Place is my very first published book. I am a mother and a wife, dedicated to breaking generational cycles, healing from past trauma, and finding a voice through honest storytelling.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book is titled No One Leaves This Place. It was inspired by my own childhood lived under the heavy shadow of a father’s severe mental illness, a mother’s deep depression, and the paralyzing family secrets that force a child to stay silent. I wanted to step through the iron gates of my past, look back with honesty, and break the cycle for my own child.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t write in a quiet, polished office. This book was written in raw, scattered pieces—completely from memory, right in the middle of hospital visits while my aging father was hospitalized. I also chose to write it in a language that is not the one I grew up in, allowing me to process the trauma with a safe artistic distance.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
As a child, books were my ultimate escape from a chaotic household. I spent my summers in the local library reading everything from Enid Blyton’s The Famous Five to the fast-paced storytelling of Sidney Sheldon. I love stories where people go on journeys, face real darkness, and find a way to run away or survive.

What are you working on now?
Right now, I am focusing on sharing No One Leaves This Place with the world and connecting with readers who have survived similar family dynamics. I am processing the response to this deeply vulnerable release before jumping into my next writing project.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t try to make your first draft pretty; just make it true. If you are writing a memoir or dealing with heavy personal themes, don’t let fear or shame freeze your words. Write the truth as you remember it, because your story might be the exact lifeline someone else needs to read.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a Navy veteran from Texas who has a love for anything that falls under horror. I never really knew what I wanted to do until I found writing. Even if it never blows up it is still something I will be doing for a long time. As of now I have written one book and I’m starting another one.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
When the Sky Fell. I have always loved post apocalyptic books and movies but I always hate how the main characters are always ex special forces or was a cop when the end of the world happened. They are always painted as invincible. I decided to change that and have the main character be an everyday person that would would expect to be in an apocalypse along with a story I think would fit well in this competitive genre.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I mainly just write as I go. When I wrote my first book I only planned out two scenes all of the other scenes I wrote what I figured would happen. I know this is a common way of writing but I just think it’s cool to be able to write that way.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Stephen King is and will probably always be my favorite. I’m always intrigued by his work.

What are you working on now?
A paranormal book about a character who takes an overnight job working as a janitor in a hospital that was a former psychiatric hospital that closed down for how patients were treated.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far Reddit and TikTok have been the best.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
It’s hard to do but don’t give up. When I first looked up things about writing a book the numbers shocked me. Less than 3 percent of the worlds population starts writing a book of that 3 percent 1 percent actually finished writing a book. There will be times when the writing is hard but it’s worth it to stick it out to the end. Wether you choose to do traditional or self publishing each has it’s own beasts. But just stick it through and even if you only ever have one reader you still became an author that at least one person liked and decided to pick up your book.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It’s used a lot but honestly it would be “Follow your dreams” I know i’ve only written one book so far and I haven’t been able to do much with it yet but I still did something. I made and published my book. I thought about quitting but I didn’t.

What are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading Stephen Kings “The Long Walk.”

What’s next for you as a writer?
To finish my next book “OR 3”

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
IT, Fairy Tale, The Shining, The Green Mile. All have been some of my favorites.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a sixteen-year-old currently in tenth grade in the Bay Area, California. When I’m not writing, I can be found reading or spending time with my dog Obi, my cat Fireheart, or my crew of foster kittens. I love animals, traveling, and music. The Isle of Whispers is my debut novel.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Isle of Whispers. It was inspired by many of the fantasy books I have read, as well as the places I have traveled around the world. The setting of my debut novel was loosely based on places my family and I have traveled to—like Tahiti and the Maldives.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am a teen author, so I have to balance school and writing. I like to read throughout the writing process for inspiration, spend time outdoors when I need fresh ideas, and collaborate with my sister to brainstorm characters, scenes, and plot ideas.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
J.K. Rowling has been a major influence on me, especially because of the immersive world-building, mystery, and sense of adventure in the Harry Potter series. I also enjoy other young adult fantasy authors whose books combine strong plots, imaginative settings, and memorable characters.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a standalone young adult fantasy based in older mythology. I’m just at the beginning, but hopeful it will release before the springtime.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My best method has been word of mouth and connecting with my local community. Support from local readers, community events, and people recommending the book to others has been more valuable than just posting online for me.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep going, even when it gets difficult, and don’t be afraid to change direction if something isn’t working. Writing should be something you enjoy, and the final story should be something you’re genuinely proud of. There are so many resources available to help, and you just have to seek them out.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It sounds cliché, but “keep going.” Finding an idea is the easy part, but following through can sometimes feel impossible, especially when you don’t have support. Progress comes from continuing to work through the difficult parts and believing the story is worth finishing.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently between books, but I’ve recently been reading a lot of mystery lately. I just reread Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen McManus.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m continuing to write and develop new stories, with the goal of eventually pursuing traditional publishing for a future novel. I also want to keep growing as a writer by reading widely, experimenting with new ideas, and learning from each book I work on.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I’d definitely bring four of the Harry Potter books! They’re some of my favorites, and I just feel like they’re timeless.

She Knew the Woods I like mystery. Trying to figure things out but just when you think you might know there is a change a twist. Small towns are great because everyone knows everyone-but do they really. Everyone has a secret they hold close and people think that people share when in reality they don’t.

I am not sure as I am a new writer and still developing myself.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Karen Slaughter, William Goldberg, Anne Rice, there are just too many to mention. My reading is all over the place. From Mystery, Crime, Fantasy and so on

What are you working on now?
I have been asked to create an Adult Coloring book for people with anxiety to help them refocus. So I am working on ideas and how I want the book to layout and look.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am new to this and still learning how to promote so I do not have a favorite yet

Do you have any advice for new authors?
It you can think it you can write it. There is an excitement to putting it all together and the thought that someone can find enjoyment out of a story. A place to get away from all the noise going on in our life. Don’t ever think that there is not someone out there that won’t appreciate the story line or that you provided something they can relate to.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Uhhh…haven’t. Which is funny but not funny! I would love some advise

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was once in a garage band that never quite made it past my friend’s actual garage. That gave me most of what I know about four kids trying to figure out how to play together without falling apart.
I’m a lifelong rock enthusiast — possibly because of the band, possibly despite it.
I write other people’s stories for a living, and now I’m working on my own stories.
Battle of the Bands is first novel under my own name.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Battle of the Bands is the name of the book. I’m always excited when I walk past a house and hear music coming from the garage, especially when it’s actual music and doesn’t sound like people being electrocuted while banging on pots and pans. I started writing a story about a bunch of kids who don’t know what they’re doing as they start a band, and it grew into this novel.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Other than removing my cats from the keyboard every hour or so, I don’t.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh, my. David Copperfield by Charles Dickens, Farewell My Lovely by Raymond Chandler, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, anything by Mo Willems or Ernest Hemingway, War and Peace by Leo Tol… no, just kidding, I’ve never read War and Peace.

What are you working on now?
The sequel to Battle of the Bands, and in a few minutes, I’ll be making dinner.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still figuring that part out.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Sit down and write every day, even if it’s garbage. Especially if it’s garbage. Keep creating garbage until you find a pearl, then do it again. Pick up the pearls and rewrite them.
Rinse, repeat.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Elmore Leonard said, “Try to leave out the parts that people skip.”

What are you reading now?
I recently finished Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, and now I’m re-reading A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I still write for other people (I’m a ghost, although I don’t really feel like one, and I’m working on the sequel to Battle of the Bands.

Interview With Author Dmitry Mintz

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I started out in politics—as an analyst, consultant, and campaign strategist—and later spent more than two decades in strategy, marketing, and business, building companies in different countries and through some fairly turbulent moments. Politics gave me the questions; business taught me how power behaves when there’s money and risk on the table. Writing is where the two finally meet.
What I keep circling back to, in almost everything I write, is one question: why do things take the shape they do, and how much of that shape do we actually choose? I don’t believe history hands us rules or predictions—but it does hand us patterns, and learning to see them changes how you read the present.
I founded Mr. Mintz Publishing, and through it I’ve published more than two dozen books so far—as author, co-author, and illustrator, across nonfiction, fiction, and children’s books, along with the Mr. Mintz Classic series, which pairs classic literature with my own illustrations—Orwell, Fitzgerald, and others.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It’s called WHY TWO? America, China, and the Ways Great-Power Rivalries End. Oddly enough, it grew out of a novel. I was building the backstory for a character who was trying to make sense of the world around him, and to do it properly I started gathering historical material—rivalries, empires, how great contests end. The material kept growing until it outgrew the novel entirely. At some point I realized I wasn’t researching a character anymore; I was writing a different book. So I set the novel aside and spent the better part of a year on WHY TWO? instead.
The book was already there. What happened next didn’t inspire it so much as show me what I had written. It already described a particular pattern: power at its summit meeting the one thing it can’t command. Then a real day fell straight into that shape. On July 4th, 2026—America’s two hundred and fiftieth birthday—the country planned a flawless celebration, and a storm emptied the lawn, the parade was canceled, the speech came near midnight. The most powerful man alive, arguing with the weather and losing. It was the book’s argument in miniature, handed to me by the calendar.
That day did something else, too: it showed me that the method worked just as clearly on events still in motion. The same structures that made twenty-five centuries legible were there in a single unfolding day—the book had already described the shape, and the day stepped into it. That’s what led to the tool I now call Rivalry Grammar. The name is the idea, and it’s probably the most honest thing the analyst and the writer in me ever built together: a grammar tells you which sentences are possible and which simply aren’t. It does the same with rivalries—not a forecast of what will happen, but a map of what can. I test it in the open on my Substack, taking a story from the day’s news and writing out its possible paths while the events are still live—so anyone can follow the reasoning and, weeks later, see how events actually moved through that space: which paths became possible and which fell away. The test is simple: whether the map held. That’s the argument of WHY TWO? put to work in public, one live event at a time.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Here’s the one thing that sets my writing apart, and it’s not what people expect. I don’t write to music in the usual sense—as background while you type. I do the opposite: I take a single piece of music and translate its structure into the prose itself. Not describe it, not allude to it—translate it. My first novel, The Working Width, is composed on Mozart’s String Quartet No. 15 in D minor. The prose moves the way the quartet moves—its rhythm, its shifts between weight and lightness, the way four equal voices trade the melody so none of them dominates, the way it holds back its resolution until the very last bar. The music is already there in the book, running under every page. You just never hear it.
That is the rule I hold hardest: the music must never surface on the page. If a reader could stop and point to it—”there’s the Mozart”—I’d have failed. It works the way a score works in a film: underneath, unnoticed, moving you without announcing itself. It sounds mystical, but it’s the most technical thing I do. A piece of music is a machine for holding attention over time—where to press, where to release, when to withhold the resolution you’re aching for. That’s exactly a novelist’s problem, so I borrowed its architecture. And once you start hearing prose that way, it’s very hard to go back.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The one that shaped how I work wasn’t a writer I read—it was one I lived inside. I illustrated Orwell’s 1984, and reconstructing that world taught me the discipline everything else grew from. My job wasn’t to decorate the novel or to tell readers what it meant. It was to reconstruct what would be visible if you stood inside Oceania—the light in Winston’s room, the objects Orwell mentions once and never describes—without ever closing the questions he deliberately left open. Restoring a room gives the reader somewhere to stand; telling them what the room means takes that away. Learning to hold that line changed me.
I realized that discipline works on the real world, too. You can reconstruct a structure without claiming the final verdict about it. That’s exactly how I approach history and geopolitics now—reconstructing what’s actually there before deciding what it means, rather than arguing an ideology. WHY TWO? came straight out of that habit of mind.
On the intellectual side, three thinkers gave me the foundation, each reading history at a different scale: Gumilev at the level of the ethnos, Spengler at the level of culture, Toynbee at the level of civilization. Together they taught me to look at the same events through several magnifications at once—a people, a culture, a civilization—and to notice patterns that only become visible across long stretches of time. That habit went so deep it showed up in my fiction without my planning it: the protagonist of my novel is a photographer, and he reads the world by changing lenses—a wide-angle when he needs the sweep of a whole city, a portrait lens when it comes down to a single face. Ways of thinking became focal lengths of glass. What I take from all of it is the same thing I took from Orwell: respect the reader enough to show them the structure and let them reach the verdict themselves.

What are you working on now?
I’ve just finished my first novel, The Working Width. It’s about a Brooklyn photographer moving through the years from 2019 to 2026—the pandemic, the supply shocks, the wars, the slow hardening of digital control—but none of it arrives as headlines. It arrives as bodily fact: temperature, weight, the width a body takes when a room quietly demands it be smaller than its natural size. That’s the “working width.” It’s a novel about a man the machines can read completely—every scan, every credential, every metric—while the one thing that actually matters about him stays invisible to every system watching. I wanted to write the age the way it was actually lived: not on the news, but in the spine.
Now that it’s finished, I can see how close it sits to my nonfiction—though it reached the same questions from the opposite side. WHY TWO? looks at power from above, across twenty-five centuries, and asks how great rivalries end. The Working Width looks at the same forces from inside a single body, at street level, over seven years. At one point the character, watching two distant wars scroll past in two columns on his screen, works his way to almost exactly the argument of WHY TWO?—not because he’s read any history, but because his body has been keeping the score all along. The nonfiction found the pattern; the novel lives inside it.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My main channel is my Substack. I don’t really use it to advertise the book—I use it to show the method at work rather than talk about it. If the method is any good, that does more than a sales pitch ever could.
Around that, I use X for short posts that open a question and point to the fuller piece, and Goodreads for the books themselves—that’s where the whole range is visible across the years, so a reader can see how the books fit together rather than any single title in isolation. That’s the system: the argument runs on Substack, the daily conversation runs on X, and the body of work lives on Goodreads.
That said, I still think the best promotion is to make the next thing worth reading. A book that changes how someone sees will travel further on a reader’s recommendation than on mine.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Stop discounting your own work. Writers—especially the serious ones—have a habit of shrinking what they’ve made: calling it “just” a small thing, apologizing for it before anyone has read a line, waiting for some outside permission to take it seriously. That instinct feels like humility. Sometimes it is. More often it’s a way of protecting yourself from judgment by judging yourself first, and it quietly tells the reader to expect less. If you don’t stand behind your work, no one else will bother to.
The craft version of that is simple: find the one thing the book can’t lose and still be itself, guard it, and cut whatever competes with it. Write the book you’d want to read and can’t find—then let it be exactly as large as it is. I’ve published across nonfiction, fiction, and illustration, and the ones that mattered were never the ones I played down to protect myself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Someone told me early on: write the book that will only exist if you write it. It sounds obvious until you try to live by it, because it rules out almost everything safe. But it’s the reason my work looks the way it does. WHY TWO? reads like narrative history, and it runs on a method for reading rivalries that I had to build from scratch. My novel runs on invention too—a structure I designed myself, a way of translating a piece of music into prose. Even the illustrated editions came from that rule: go past what’s already on the page and reconstruct what no one has looked at closely enough.
There’s a second half I learned later: follow the subject that keeps calling you back. The books worth writing are the ones you circle for months, sometimes years, and still find yourself thinking about when you should be working on something else. Put those two together and you have the only test I trust: a book only you can write, about a thing that won’t let go of you. Books that pass it are the ones readers can feel were necessary—and necessary books are the ones that last.

What are you reading now?
Right now, Wellness by Nathan Hill—a novel about a marriage trying to survive these times. It’s close to my fiction, and I had a strange moment with it: Hill’s couple designs a house with two master bedrooms, and there’s a scene in my own novel where a separated couple does almost exactly the same thing. Same detail, opposite meaning—in his book it’s a hedge, a way of keeping distance in reserve; in mine it’s the reverse, a man building a room for his ex-wife so their child can have both parents under one roof. Two writers reaching independently for the same object to say contrary things. That’s the kind of coincidence that makes you trust fiction—the culture hands everyone the same furniture, but no two writers arrange the room the same way.
My reading tends to swing between two scales. Wellness is the contemporary side—how we live now. When I was building the foundation under WHY TWO? and my novel, I went back through Toynbee’s A Study of History for the other end of the spectrum: something vast and slow enough to ask how we got here. That’s usually the rhythm of my reading—close to the present for a while, then far enough back to change the scale.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Three things that are really one thing. WHY TWO? found the pattern; The Working Width lives inside it; Rivalry Grammar asks what the pattern allows next. For a long time, the two books felt as though they had been written in opposite directions—until Rivalry Grammar showed me they were one. I don’t write one-off books; I build territory and keep working it.
The novel is the front edge now. It’s finished, and my immediate work is finding it the right home—the readers it’s for, and the people who can help it reach them. It’s the first book of a trilogy, with the next two already underway. This is the one that feels like arrival, and it’s only the beginning of what it opens.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Gulliver’s Travels, Alice in Wonderland, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde—which, now that I say them together, is more of a pattern than I realized. Every one of them is about the same thing: the world suddenly changing scale or shape, and a person who has to relearn how to see. Giants and miniatures, a rabbit hole, a man who becomes someone else after dark. I’ve spent years illustrating classics, so bringing them along would feel like good company—old rooms I already know how to stand in.
And then, for the fourth, Treasure Island—strictly for research purposes. After drawing other people’s impossible islands for years, it would be nice, for once, to be on one, with the only book that might actually tell me what to do there.

I’m an indie children’s book author passionate about making STEM concepts fun and accessible for young kids. I’ve written picture books across two series — Milo & Pip and Leo & Pip — combining playful storytelling with simple science lessons like sound, vibration, and why the Earth spins. I’ve written 4 books so far and I’m continuing to grow both series with new science-themed adventures.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Milo & Pip and the Secret Waves of Sound,” which explores vibration and sound for kids ages 3-8. I was inspired by how naturally curious young children are about everyday sounds — drums, water splashes, music — and wanted to turn that curiosity into a fun, relatable science lesson they could enjoy through storytelling.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to test my story ideas out loud with kids in mind — imagining how a child would react to each page before I write it. I also spend a lot of time exploring nature, which often sparks new science topics for my stories.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always admired authors who make science approachable for young children, like the classic “Magic School Bus” series. Their ability to turn complex concepts into fun, memorable stories has shaped how I approach writing my own STEM picture books.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently expanding both my Milo & Pip and Leo & Pip series with new STEM adventures, covering topics like static electricity and how the Earth’s rotation creates day and night — all designed to spark curiosity in young readers.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still learning and experimenting! So far, connecting with fellow authors and readers through Facebook groups and Goodreads has been the most valuable — it’s helped me find genuine readers who enjoy STEM picture books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment to start. Write the story that excites you, get feedback early, and remember that connecting with your first readers matters just as much as the writing itself.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Done is better than perfect.” It’s helped me push through moments of doubt and actually finish and publish my books instead of endlessly revising.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading other STEM-themed picture books to see how different authors make science concepts fun and accessible for kids.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m working on expanding the Milo & Pip and Leo & Pip series with new STEM topics, and exploring ways to bring these stories to more young readers around the world.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Magic School Bus series, a good field guide to nature, and a blank notebook to write new story ideas while I wait for rescue!

Interview With Author Judy Haar

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Judy Haar is a Nuclear Chemist and has travelled extensively for her work. She helped grow a small business as the Sr VP of marketing, and sales. She is now retired and spending her time doing what she loves, writing. She has written for business magazines on branding, internet marketing, business plans, and marketing strategies. She teaches courses on all these subjects and more. She has published eBooks on color, branding, starting a small business, short fiction and a medical thriller. She has just released the first book in the Detective John Crase series, Death By Dismembership.

One subject that has interested her as she has grown older, is death, in all its facets. After all, no one can escape it. Whether you love a good mystery, face your own unexpected death, or want a glimpse of the beyond, read her stories.

Judy has written 3 full length books plus several business books.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Death By Dismemberment is my latest and is the first in a Detective John Crase series. I love a good mystery and enjoy authors such as Grisham and James Patterson’s Alex Cross series. I am inspired to hopefully follow in their footsteps. The creation of a thrilling plot drives me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I spend a lot of time researching the small stuff so my books are scientifically and medically accurate.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Alex Cross by James Patterson. Also Koontz, his form of a twist is always added to his suspense novels.

What are you working on now?
I have written a virus thriller that has been up on Amazon for a while and has been reasonably popular. I have taken it down recently to be updated to match the plot of the second in the serie’s ready to publish. I am also in the middle of the second book in the Detective John Crase series. What fun. I enjoy this.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Amazon for my advertising, but I also find advantage in posting my books on sites such as yours.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Wow, this is a lot of work. Writing the book was just the first step in a long process of learning. The more you do, the better you get. Keep on plugging.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Do not be a one book wonder. In order to be successful, you need to jump in with both feet and keep on writing.

What are you reading now?
I am reading books on how to market on Amazon (always learning), and some new authors that have written mysteries. I am also in a writer’s group that edits while we write. It is fantastic, and I recommend this to everyone. You read their stuff, and they read yours with great comments. We meet twice a month.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Write more books, read more, and always learn new things.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
So many books to choose from. The Tao, (Dao), The Bible, How to build a boat, and I would have to think about the last one for a while.

Interview With Author Viktor V. Silver

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Viktor V. Silver writes stories and ideas that explore human nature, resilience, freedom, and the choices that shape a life. His work is grounded in lived experience rather than abstract theory. Having rebuilt his life more than once, he believes that the strongest ideas are those that remain true when reality puts them to the test. To date, he has written two books, seamlessly moving between deep non-fiction and captivating fiction to invite readers to embrace the complexity of being human.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is “Tim and the Time Ravine.” It was inspired by the bittersweet realization of how fast time slips away and the profound value of the moments we can never get back. While my previous work, “The Campfire Dissident,” explored surviving the system through hard-boiled essays, this new fiction story approaches the themes of choice, maturity, and human nature through a magical and adventurous lens, guided by a boy and a very unusual cat.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t wait for inspiration at a clean desk. I often capture my best ideas and dialogue on my phone while walking through the city or traveling. For me, writing is fully integrated into daily survival and observation, rather than being an isolated academic routine

What authors, or books have influenced you?
My influences are split between profound thinkers who examine human nature and masters of storytelling who capture the imagination. I am deeply inspired by classic philosophical and dystopian literature that questions authority and social structures. At the same time, I admire authors who can weave complex existential themes into accessible, engaging fiction that stays with the reader long after the final page

What are you working on now?
I am currently putting the finishing touches on my upcoming fiction book, ‘Tim and the Time Ravine’. It is an exciting shift for me into magical realism and adventure, focusing on the value of time and the choices we make. I am fully focused on polishing the manuscript and preparing it for readers who appreciate deep stories with a touch of magic

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For me, the best method is building a genuine connection with readers who appreciate independent thinking and raw, lived experiences. I believe that word-of-mouth and clean, striking visual presentation—like professional book covers—are essential. I also heavily rely on targeted multi-platform outreach to find niche communities that match my book’s specific philosophy

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Do not write to please abstract academic theories or passing trends; write from your own lived truth and observation. The system will always try to fit you into a neat, predictable box. Your job as an author is to think independently, stay resilient through setbacks, and ensure your core message remains true when reality puts it to the test

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I have ever heard is that true freedom begins when you stop looking for validation from the outside world and start relying entirely on your own inner compass. In life and in writing, if you know exactly who you are and what you stand for, no system or obstacle can truly break you

What are you reading now?
I am currently re-reading some classic dystopian literature and deep philosophical essays. I find that revisiting timeless works during heavy writing periods helps me keep my own perspectives sharp and grounded in enduring truths

What’s next for you as a writer?
My immediate focus is launching ‘Tim and the Time Ravine’ and seeing how readers connect with this new story. Beyond that, I plan to continue challenging boundaries by working on a new series of sharp philosophical essays, as well as outlining a follow-up fiction project. I want to keep expanding my range and exploring the themes of human maturity and personal resilience from different angles

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
If I were stranded on a desert island, I would take a solid notebook and a pen to keep writing down new ideas. For reading, I would choose Viktor Frankl’s ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’ for psychological endurance, a comprehensive collection of classic Stoic philosophy to maintain inner peace, and a thick anthology of timeless fairy tales or fantasy to keep my imagination alive

Interview With Author Melissa Riemer

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a screenwriter and music producer by trade, but turned to writing a novel after I found the budget restrictions of putting something on screen to be too limiting. In my debut novel THE WINNING FORMULA, I send my characters to some of the most expensive places on earth and play with F1 cars that would normally be out of budget for a film crew to get a hold of!
While I love writing drama and fiction, I also adore fantasy and sci-fi. My music (which has appeared in film, TV and commercials) has a unique cinematic pop sound to it. And I love mixing drama with romance, high fashion and stakes.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Winning Formula stemmed from my love of Formula One. Whilst I’ve changed the name of the racing sport to Formula Mondial in my novel, the mechanics of it all still stay the same. I grew up on racing, coming from Melbourne, where I would watch the races every weekend with my family.
Cut to decades later and my love for the sport has only increased. I wanted a more adult and indepth look at the world behind the sport—something I’ve been privy to after attending dozens of races and paddock clubs around the world.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write A LOT on long haul flights. Working in the entertainment world, I’m constantly traveling and on the road. Some of my best work is done between the hours of 2am – 5am, while flying over the ocean.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love Robinne Lee’s – The Idea Of You. I think she nailed the world of celebrity and hollywood/music perfectly.
Isobelle Carmody is an Australian author I grew up with and adore for her fantasy worlds she weaves. As well as Isaac Asimov for his sci-fi novels.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the second installment to The Winning Formula, as well as a (light) fantasy novel set in the South of France (Where I’m currently based).
I have several other novels in the works, and am producing a feature film for another Canadian writer at the moment.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Finish the book! You’ll already be miles ahead.
Get Arc readers, get an editor. Trust me, there will be things you miss that a second and third pair of eyes can catch.
Don’t sweat it if you miss a typo here or there, you’re only human and readers will forgive you for it!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Finish the damn thing.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently re-reading Dirt Music – Tim Winton. It reminds me of home (I’m Australian born), and I love reading about music within a novel.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m still producing films and currently pitching two of my series for TV consideration. My next novel will likely be my fantasy set in France, but I’m excited to delve back into the world of racing and F1, to finish The Winning Formula series.
