The post This week’s Diamond Select offerings include Star Wars and Marvel, including Weapon H appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>As Marvel heroes and villains go, Weapon Hulk is kind of a rare one. The massive monster made a splash when he first appeared in the pages of Weapons Of Mutant Destruction, and has figured into several series’ and events in the years since, but hasn’t become a major hero in the Marvel Universe. And on top of that, he really hasn’t gotten much merch at all. If you’re a fan of the amalgamation of Wolverine and Hulk though, this might be your week.
Collectible and comics giant Diamond Select is sending the character to store shelves as a 1/7th scale statue, alongside busts of Moon Knight and Star Wars mainstay Boba Fett. Though the latter doesn’t hold the image of the bounty hunter that you might be expecting, but instead reflects his appearance just after Attack of the Clones.

]]>The post “A former Lord of the Rings exclusive comes to retail with DST’s “Invisible Frodo” appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>Way back in 2001, Peter Jackson’s original The Lord of the Rings film (The Fellowship of the Ring) brought Tolkien and fantasy fans the first in what would arguably be one of the greatest trilogies of all time. That film set the tone for what was to come in The Two Towers and The Return of the King, but Fellowship was a fantastic movie in its own right, that offered highlight after highlight. And one of those, took place in The Prancing Pony.
A tavern where the Hobbits head to meet Gandalf, the Pony saw some partying amongst the group, which got the attention of Strider. But that wasn’t all, as Frodo himself first donned the One Ring there as well, albeit by ‘accident’. The ensuing scene was etheric and loaded with spectral beauty and terror combined, including an appearance by The Enemy.
Toy-maker Diamond Select actually paid homage to the events, with an “Invisible Frodo” SDCC exclusive figure a few years back. A part of the Lord of the Rings Select lineup, said figure was obviously not actually invisible, but was cast in translucent plastic, giving it an appropriate look. Again though, it was an exclusive to the iconic convention, and if you missed it, you missed it.
That’s to say, until this week, when The Lord of the Rings Invisible Frodo Deluxe Action Figure finally heads to retail.

The Lord of the Rings Invisible Frodo Deluxe Action Figure brings back a previously sold-out convention exclusive in all-new packaging, to commemorate the moment Frodo first puts on the Ring of Power. Cast entirely in clear plastic, this “invisible” action figure stands approximately 5 inches tall and features 16 points of articulation, as well as an invisible sword accessory. It was designed by Yuri Timg, and sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios.
What’s more, the figure comes packaged in a full-color window box, with a magnetic fifth-panel door, designed to resemble the sign of the Prancing Pony inn, where Frodo put on the ring for the first time. Featuring front and back paintings by packaging designer David Forrest of Kinetic Underground, Inc., the inside flap tells the tale of Frodo up until that moment, so you can relive the film!
DST press release
If you’d like to add Invisible Frodo to your own The Lord of the Rings collection, you can do so as of today, as the figure should be out and in stores now. Fans can check out ComicShopLocator to find a brick and mortar location that might be carrying it, or buy direct from DST via the company’s online shop.

]]>The post NYCC ’24: DST prepping panels, exclusives, and more appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>With New York Comic Con right around the corner, Diamond Select has dropped a look at what it’ll have on tap. It’s a list that includes booth happenings, as well as what looks like a can’t-miss panel, and giveaways and contests. That all shapes up to equal a lot for DST fans to dig into, and yes it does include some exclusive items to buy.
Fans who stop at the booth (# 3135) will be able to pick up a Marvel Animated-Style Hallows’ Eve Statue ($65 USD). Plus, if you’re feeling a little extra very nice and very evil, there’s also an AEW Danhausen Vinimate. Though the wrestler hasn’t been seen on AEW programming for a while, DST’s vinyl figure should be a slick collectible for fans. He’s even going to be there in person (this Friday and Saturday) to sign ’em.
Again though, exclusives are just a part of the show for DST, and you can check out the full list of highlights below.

]]>The post DST’s first wave of The Walking Dead figures arrive, along with some new Marvel busts appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>It’s been a while since collectors have had a The Walking Dead toy line out there in the wild. The last one wrapped up years ago, and there hasn’t been all that much to collect coming out of the property since. That though, changed this week.
Hitting store right now, are DST’s The Walking Dead Action Figures Series 1, packed with both Rick Grimes and Michonne. The two figure wave is cast in the usual 7″ scale, and look to be fully articulated, and packed with appropriate accessories. If the Dead aren’t your thing though, there still might be a few things on tap to buy. That’s to say, if you’re a Marvel Comics fan.
The first offering hails from Diamond Select itself, with an animated-style bust of classic X-villain Mystique. And the second is what looks to be an impressively detailed iteration of Tony Stark’s first MCU suit of Iron Man armor. Yep, the one from the cave.
Take a scroll down, and check out what should be landing in stores right now.

]]>Yes, Comic Con was a while ago, but that’s not stopping Diamond Select from taking a little look back at the show that was. The toy and collectibles company had quite a few highlights on hand in the booth to talk about too, with huge brands represented. Of course, that’s nothing new for DST, as fans well know. Diamond is one of the oldest names in the comics game, and has been offering massive collections of stuff for a good long time.
This year, the company brought John Wick, TMNT, Star Wars and more for fans to check out, including the increasingly impressive House of the Dragon toys. Much like the company’s Lord of the Rings figures, the House of the Dragon Deluxe Action Figures are some of the only fantasy figures out there right now, especially ones that clock in at a lower price point. Series 2 looked great too, so if you haven’t see it, we think it’s worth it to scroll on down.

]]>The post Lord of the Rings’ Cave Troll dio leads the way this week, for DST’s latest offerings appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>If you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, then you likely know that Diamond Select Toys produces a whole bunch of stuff from the iconic property. Chief among those lines are the company’s action figures and statues, and both of them are coming together for one mighty new offering which, of course, is the Cave Troll.
Meant to serve as a diorama piece to display with your Lord of the Rings Select action figures, the Cave Troll is both sized to match the scale and sculpted to compliment the look of the collector toys. Why not just make him a ‘deluxe’ action figure? While we don’t know for sure, it’s likely due to the size and therefore cost that something like that would encompass. But regardless, if you’re looking for a centerpiece for your LotR “Select” shelf, then it certainly seems as though this guy’s going to fit the bill.
Naturally he’s not alone this week either, as also landing in stores is a decent dose of Marvel drops. Those are including new Minimates, as well as a couple of busts.

]]>The post Lots of new DST stuff hits pre-order, including Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and more appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>Yes, there’s a fresh addition to Diamond Select’s Lord of the Rings action figure line that’s just posted for pre-order. We’re not talking about the recently revealed Eowyn and Witch-king figures either, as this new offering is a clear Frodo, meant to mimic his donning of the One Ring. A “special-edition” figure, this new Frodo is sculpted by Gentle Giant and will fit in with the rest of the increasingly impressive lineup.
Past LotR, there’s also a Gargoyles Gallery Diorama that features Goliath coming up, as well as a series of four Vinyl Figural Banks featuring the classic Godzilla. And by that, we mean the way the characters were modeled in the 70s and 80s flicks.
All of the above though, pales in comparison to the selection of Marvel and Star Wars stuff that’s coming. DST usually goes deep on both licenses, and that won’t be changing any time soon if this slate is anything to go by. Scroll down to check out everything above.

]]>The post Celebrate wrestling legend Sting’s retirement with DST’s latest Minimates set appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>If you missed it, yesterday was a pretty big day in the history of pro-wrestling. Yeah, yeah, we get it, but we ask you to put aside any ‘WWE bias’ for a moment. No matter your fandom, it’s worth taking into account that the business is now without one of its biggest names, the icon himself, Sting.
The Stinger had been wrestling since the 80s of course, making a massive name for himself in the now-defunct WCW. That came first as the over-the-top and super-heroic ‘surfer’ Sting, which then morphed into a much darker and grittier version of the character in the late 90s. That black and white look, which he took on as he battled Hollywood Hogan’s evil nWo, has become what he’s best known for in the decades since, and it was the look that he retired with yesterday.
At an AEW pay-per-view, Sting hung up the boots with a win over the Young Bucks, retiring as one half of the tag team champions and with a perfect 29-0 record with the brand. The big moment is no doubt going to be getting a decent amount of merchandise in the years to come, but it’s starting with a special set of Diamond Select’s Minimates.

AEW Minimates Series 3 features tag team champions Sting and Darby Allin, plus Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson and ring legend Ric Flair! Each 2-inch Minimates figure features 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts, The set also includes accessories, including a microphone, a baseball bat, and a folded steel chair!
All four Minimates come packaged in a full-color window box with a fifth panel door featuring photos of all four grapplers. Pre-orders are open now for delivery this fall.
DST press release
On top of the above, it’s worth noting that there’s also a Young Bucks 2-pack out there right now, so if you’re looking to complete the set, you can. DST is seemingly going pretty big with the AEW MM’s too, with both a first and second wave also available, each of which offers up key grapplers from the brand’s roster. And if you’re looking for something a little more impactful, there are also Gallery Dioramas of Sting, Bryan Danielson, and Chris Jericho that you can pick up.
The above series 3 box set is set to ship some time in the fourth quarter of this year too, so you’ve got plenty of time to collect ’em all before the Stinger arrives. Wanna pre-order? You can do that right now, via DST’s online shop, here.

]]>The post Upcoming Diamond pre-orders include Lord of the Rings, AEW, and plenty of Marvel appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>November is coming up fast, and once again Diamond has unleashed a full set of pre-orders for stuff that’ll be heading to stores down the line. As goes this latest collection, that future-time will be spring of 2024, so you’ve got a while to go before any of this stuff lands.
You might not want to wait though, as the new announcements are pretty wicked. There’s a little something for almost any collector too, with products ranging from a statue of AEW’s Sting, to an awesome Marvel Select figure of the X-Man called Archangel, and a very interesting Lord of the Rings Gallery diorama.
If you don’t know, DST has two lines that feature the LotR branding. There’s the figure series, and a Gallery line of statues/dioramas. While they don’t get all that much press, both are pretty nice, hitting all of the main points in terms of character selection and the figures serving up solid articulation and accessories. But you might be asking what they’ve got to do with one another, other than the license.
Well, as it so happens, DST is bringing the Lord of the Rings action figure and diorama series’ together for this latest offering. The piece in question is a Cave Troll diorama, and it’s scaled to the figures. So in other words, it’ll serve as what would be a massive action figure, and also be a great centerpiece for a Lord of the Rings shelf, or in a larger diorama. It also makes you wonder what else Diamond might be thinking up for down the line, if this does well with fans.
Scroll down to have a look at him in all his cavernous glory, along with everything else that’ll be on the way in quarter two-ish of next year,

]]>The post Zach Snyder’s new sci-fi film series Rebel Moon to get collectible line from DST appeared first on BrutalGamer.
]]>We’d imagine that by now everyone knows the story of Rebel Moon. But just in case you don’t, its tale is one that originally started as an idea for a Star Wars film, from iconic director Zach Snyder. Needless to say, since you’re reading about “Rebel Moon”, that didn’t happen. Instead the story moved into the realm of an original, brand new property.
Now that you’re up to date on that, and you’ve seen the phenomenal trailer above, take a look at the first pieces of merchandise from the Netflix film, fresh from Diamond Select. Yes, that same toy-maker that regularly produces all the nifty Marvel, Lord of the Rings, and even Star Wars stuff is taking the reigns when it comes to collectibles from the Rebel Moon.
“What we’ve seen of Zack Snyder’s vision for Rebel Moon is amazing,” said Diamond Select Toys president Chuck Terceira. “We love sci-fi here at DST, so it was a no-brainer for us to go after what is sure to be one of the hottest sci-fi films of the decade. Our motto is ‘The Best of All Worlds,’ and we’re always looking for new worlds to explore!”
Chuck Terceira, president of Diamond Select Toys
So what can you expect to see from this new world? Diamond says to expect a “variety” of product, including “1/10 scale action figures, Gallery Diorama PVC sculptures, and Legends in 3D ½ scale busts”. Those figures seem to be the highlight of the bunch, with two series’ already confirmed.

Series 1 will include both of the above, with “Jimmy (voiced by none other than Anthony Hopkins) and Nemesis (played by actress Doona Bae)”. Series 2 will so-far include the film’s main character, actress Sofia Boutella’s Kora.
While neither set has a release date just yet, Series 1 will go up for pre-order this month, on September 22nd. And if you missed it in the video, part 1 of Rebel Moon (A Child of Fire) hits Netflix three months to the day later, on December 22nd, 2023.
