]]>An all-new look at Spyro: A Realm Beyond was included in this year’s Community Day celebration, complete with one hot cake.
Spyro flames on
The formerly dormant Spyro series is getting set to torch consoles and the PC some time in 2027. Before we get to that launch though, there’s plenty yet to be revealed about Spyro: A Realm Beyond. We’re not just talking about mechanics and worlds either, as the story hasn’t been discussed yet either.
What we do know about the game though, is that Spyro‘s vacation is officially over, and he’ll be taking flight in a whole new way once he’s back. And by that, we mean that developer Toys for Bob will be bringing what looks to be unlimited dragon flight to the series.
As mentioned though, there’s much more to be revealed. And that incudes the worlds that Spyro will be traversing. To that end, we just got a better look at one of them, via the 2026 edition of Spyro‘s Community Day.
The above area is Arcadian Vale, an “early” region that players will be visiting in the game. That’s looking like it’ll stock plenty of green, along with some distant mountains. Critters will be populating the land of course, along with some strange ruins. We’ll note too, that on the former, we’re only seeing what look like friendly fauna. So if you’re waiting to get a look at the baddies, well, keep waiting.
Oh, we’ll also mention that there’s a very welcoming sky hanging above the landscape as well. And yes, we assume that will allow players to feel out the aforementioned flight. From this glimpse though, it’s definitely looking like the Spyro of old, just mightily updated.

]]>Onimusha: Way of the Sword brings the long-awaited return of one of Capcom’s best-loved series’. It’s also a smash hit.
A monster new game
Bringing the brand back to fans in a big way is Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The latest game in the long-running series brings in an all-new hero, and seems to be a big hit with fans. How big? Well, how does selling one million copies in one day sound?
Yep, that’s a big number, but it’s just what publisher Capcom is touting, as it reveals the initial sales figures for the game. According to the company, Onimusha: Way of the Sword moved an excess of a million copies, as it brought the series of mothballs.
After 20 years on hiatus, it sure does look like fans are more than happy to welcome it back. Not that the success is anything new for the line. Capcom adds that the sales history of Onimusha has now exploded, with sales past ten million units.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which marks the first new title in the series in over 20 years, is a swordplay action game featuring protagonist Miyamoto Musashi that is set in Edo-era Kyoto. This title enhances the exhilarating sword-based action of the series with cutting-edge technology while also providing a compelling story and beautiful visual depictions. In addition, through several marketing initiatives prior to launch, such as multiple demo releases and hands-on exhibitions, Capcom worked to expand awareness among a broad range of users, resulting in sales surpassing 1 million units on the day of its release.
Capcom press release
This announcement comes along with a bit of an interesting addendum too. Namely, that Capcom says there are more ‘lost’ IP’s set to return. Now, don’t get too excited, because what those might be is still something of a mystery. All the same though, the company says that it’s “working to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content”.
So yeah, that’s a fancy way of saying to look for more games like Onimusha: Way of the Sword. We’d assume that the lot of what’s coming up would probably include more adventures in feudal Japan as well, but we don’t have any confirmation on that.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is out now for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Onimusha returns in style
Why was Onimusha ‘forgotten’ about for so long? That’s a mysterious question, honestly, since Capcom’s action/horror series was a beast in its heyday. The original three releases were legendary in the PS2 era, and garnered a legion of fans.
Despite some re-releases a few years ago though, it seemed like it’d just dried up as the publisher moved on to newer properties. Well, that and lots of Resident Evil, can’t forget that. All of that was before the reveal of Onimusha: Way of the Sword however.
The first new game in the set to be revealed in a long time, Onimusha: Way of the Sword would bring fans an all-new story and hero, set in the world of the original games. Japan’s Edo-era would be the setting, with players guiding Miyamoto Musashi on his journey through a twisted vision of Kyoto.

]]>Nintendo fully detailed its upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time yesterday, complete with a launch date.
The Ocarina plays its tune
If you’re unaware, 2026 is The Legend of Zelda‘s 40th anniversary. Yes, it’s really been that long. The original game launched for the NES way back in 1986, setting up what would be a series for the ages. The property remains one of Nintendo’s biggest, and claims legions of fans around the world. So, naturally, its 40th would have to be marked with something special.
That “something special”, as it was announced this past summer, would be a full remake of one of the series’ biggest fan-favorite titles. At the time, Nintendo revealed next to nothing about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (2026), though that’s changed considerably.
Yesterday saw to that, as the gaming giant held a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on all things Zelda. That did include a few extra notes, though the star of the show was the game itself. Leaping from the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time is being brought into the modern age for the Switch 2. That leap will include some freshly added gameplay elements, and of course a full visual and auditory make-over.
Remade with completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded character dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, reworked camera and movement controls, and more, Link’s milestone 1998 adventure has been reborn for a whole new era. The first print run of the physical version will commemorate the release with special packaging that features textured foil cover art, available while supplies last.
Nintendo press release
A whole new game?
So, what’d you think of that trailer? We agree that it could be argued that the original game didn’t need a remake at all. After all, the original was stellar, and easily one of the best games for the N64. Nevertheless though, this new edition is looking pretty great.
The visuals are gorgeous, looking even better than the likes of Tears of the Kingdom. And that’s just the half of it, since there are those updated elements, which sound like they should make the 2026 version of Ocarina of Time play fairly different from the N64 classic. This new incarnation will allow for jumping, running, and even greater camera control.
There’s a fair bit of ‘new’ in terms of audio as well. Nintendo says that characters are fully voiced this time around, and will star in expanded cut-scenes. There’s also a greater level of interactivity with the title instrument, as players can actually hum a tune that Link has learned in the game, to get him playing it on the Ocarina. It’s also an innovation that’ll work with the upcoming electronic Ocarina accessory/instrument. More on that in a bit though.
Keeping this section to the game, there’s also a new tapestry to chat about. Via that, fans can keep track of the “Threads of Time”, according to Nintendo. What’s that mean? Well, basically, said tapestry will tell players all about their progress, and lead to their next objectives. Nothing groundbreaking there, but it sounds like a nice addition.
If you’re up for a return to one of the best-loved Zelda titles ever, get ready, because it’s heading to the Switch 2 fast. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be out for the Holiday Season, landing on November 5th, 2026.
More Zelda goodness
Along with the game, will come an onslaught of accessories and hardware. If you know Nintendo’s bigger game launches, then you know what to expect there. Look for a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time-branded Nintendo Switch 2 console, as well as Pro Controller, and a carrying case for when the Switch 2‘s in handheld mode.
There’ll even be a stand for the controller, if you want to get really fancy about things.
Then there’s the Ocarina we mentioned above. Or maybe, we should say Ocarina‘s’, plural, since there’ll be two of them. Available at retail later this year, but still without a launch date, the Ocarinas will offer fans the ability to interact with a reasonable facsimile of the item from the game. Though the two will do that in some very different ways.
From accessory-maker HORI, the first offering will allow fans to play full songs at the touch of a button. Don’t worry if you’d rather play your own tunes though, as it’ll also allow for separate button presses, to activate individual notes.
Prefer to play it old school? That’s what the second Ocarina is for, as it’s ready to be played by the “musically inclined”.
That’s not all though, as Amiibo will be making a return for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Just don’t expect ’em at launch. Both Young Link and Young Zelda figures will arrive for use with the game, unlocking “special in-game masks that evoke a retro graphical style”, some time in 2027. They’re not all that’s on tap in the realm of Amiibo either.
Don’t forget that Mineru’s Construct is coming up this month, from the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game.
The full show
Want even more? Well, there’s a ton more Zelda coming this year, and into 2027. That includes a concert series, fresh LEGO sets, updates to the NintendoToday app, an electronic Master Sword replica from Hasbro, and of course the big screen movie. That opens in theaters on April 30th, 2027, by the way.

]]>Optimus Prime: Awakening will run alongside some showings of Transformers: The Movie, when it hits theaters this month.
Arise, Optimus Prime
It was a massive blow to the Transformers fandom, let alone the pop culture universe, when Peter Cullen passed away last month. The legendary actor had starred in a huge amount of roles over the years, after all. And many of those roles were in well-loved films and TV shows. None though, more so than his turn as Transformers‘ Optimus Prime.
Since taking up the robotic role in the 80s, Cullen’s iconic voice brought Prime to life through the decades, and across multiple forms of the core fiction. Those have included the original show, video games, and even the big budget Michael Bay films. Simply put, the man was a legend, and his loss hits in a very particular way. As it happens, it also comes on the precipice of Transformers: The Movie‘s 40th anniversary return.
The film, which saw the actor’s original run as Prime come to a close, will be making its way to theaters this month. That’ll be courtesy of Hasbro and Fathom Entertainment. Its re-release hype had something of a tongue-in-cheek presentation originally, with Hasbro joking that it would be the centerpiece of an “apology tour” for Optimus‘ death. Now that Cullen has passed away himself though, that marketing seems to be making a turn.
That starts with deemphasizing the former “it still hits like a truck” tag line, and raising the above-mentioned animated short to prominence.
The Awakening
Set to run with “select” presentations of the film, is an animated short that was formerly something of a question mark. And by that, we mean we had no idea what it was about. That however, is a shroud of mystery that’s starting to open a tad.
Optimus Prime: Awakening will have apparently have a wide scope. At least, that’s what it sounds like to us, since the short will explore both the past and future of the franchise. Being that it’s set to run for a total of 12 minutes too, we’re more than a little interested to see what’s included. Oh, and naturally, it’ll bring back Cullen as Prime, along with Frank Welker.
As fans know, Welker has voiced both Megatron and Soundwave, so there’s plenty of reason to be looking forward to Optimus Prime: Awakening. That’s not to say that it’s not bittersweet however. Officially, it will present the last time that Cullen and Welker will be playing opposite each other.
“Optimus Prime and Megatron were made for each other. After all, one needs the perfect hero against the epitome of evil to create great drama. Peter’s portrayal of Prime was born of his own personal beliefs; honesty, loyalty, and always insisting on doing the right thing. This made it easy to be friends. Returning as Megatron and Soundwave for one final story opposite Peter’s Optimus in “Optimus Prime: Awakening” was a real gift. I will miss my friend, but that voice and his heart and values will always be part of Optimus Prime.”
Frank Welker
Transformers: The Movie opens in theaters on September 17th, for a run that’ll conclude on the 22nd. If you’re looking to catch Optimus Prime: Awakening along with it, make sure to check with your theater. Remember, the animated extra will only be “presented following select anniversary screenings of the original 1986 film.”.
Note: Other than the US, a selection of additional territories have been revealed for the film’s opening. Those include the “United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Germany”, according to Fathom Entertainment.

Action, horror, and general weirdness? It’s The Goon
The Goon has become a part of comic book history at this point. The main run(s) wrapped up several years back after all, and creator Eric Powell looks to have retired the hard-hitting character and his world. But that doesn’t mean that the property is disappearing any time soon.
Not even close actually, as Dark Horse Books and Albatross Books have a fresh run of 7 x 10″ deluxe hardcovers in the works. Those look to be the perfect jumping on point, for those who might be interested in checking out Powell’s horror-tinged hero. For that matter, they’d probably be pretty sharp for longtime fans as well, who might be on the hunt for some bundled tales for their bookshelves.
The revival starts with March 2027, with The Goon Library Edition Volume 1(Second Edition). That’ll bring together volumes 0 through 3 of the classic comic series, telling the tale of the Zombie Priest. As for the creative team behind it, it’s classic The Goon. And by that, we mean a heck of a lot of Eric Powell.
For those who might not know, the series’ creator is both artist and writer for it.
The Nameless Man, the Zombie Priest, has come to town to build a gang from the undead. Yet even with an unlimited supply of soldiers, the Priest cannot move in on the territory controlled by the crime boss Labrazio and his unstoppable enforcer—the Goon. But when the Priest discovers the Goon’s most closely held secret, the balance of power threatens to change forever!
Volume 1 collects The Goon Volumes 0–3.
Dark Horse press release
Presented in hardcover format, The Goon Library Edition Volume 1(Second Edition) is just the start. Fans can look for volumes 2 through 5 to arrive after that first re-issuance lands. The run will take the books through 2028, but don’t look for dates just yet. It’s a shade too early for those, but we’ll keep you updated.

]]>Yes, for the first time, a Call of Duty title is coming to a Switch console, with the Switch 2’s Modern Warfare 4.
Modern Warfare goes handheld
When was the last time that a Call of Duty (any Call of Duty) appeared on a Nintendo console (any Nintendo console)? Well, turns out it was longer than we thought, as that game was Ghosts for the Wii. And for those who don’t feel like googling it, that launched in 2013. So yeah, it’s been a while.
Nevertheless, the drought is officially over as of this October. That’s when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives for the Switch 2, with an edition that looks surprisingly sharp. At least, it does from the first trailer, shared last week.
In that video, we got a look at Price racing through an urban area, firing from the side of his car. There were also glimpses of what looked to be the multiplayer modes in action, with plenty of running and gunning, airstrikes, and monster-sized explosions.
You might’ve noticed that there are some console-specific options shown in that trailer. It being the Switch, those were kind of a given, and indeed Activison and Infinity Ward will be making use of the console’s unique strengths.
Those start with the joy-con 2’s mouse mode, letting players make use of the native, more PC-like, control option. That’s not all though, as gyro controls are ready to roll as well. And in a cool additional note, “cross-play/cross-progression” is also included. That’s a pretty slick option, not to mention unexpected.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on the Switch 2 in a little under two months, on October 23rd, 2026.

If adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones
The man with the hat is back, and set to swing into the pages of Marvel comics. And actually, that return will be coming in a few ways. For those not following along, Indy will be getting some very welcome reprints of his classic Marvel adventures for one thing, and there’s something altogether new on the horizon set for 2027. But neither of those things are on the docket for today.
Instead, what Marvel has released, is word of a new variant cover initiative. And yes, you guessed it, those covers will star none other than Indiana Jones. These images won’t be just generic Indy action shots either, as all of them will have a definite theme. That would be ‘Marvel artifacts’, if you’re wondering.
Basically, each cover will star Indy, as he uncovers a famous piece of the Marvel Universe. Those, so far anyway, include the Infinity Gauntlet, Doctor Doom’s iron mask, Mjolnir, the Necrosword, and even the crimson gem of Cyttorak.

The adventure never ends
While the above-mentioned variants are pretty neat, they’re also just the first in a volley of new Indy stuff coming from Marvel. That onslaught begins next month too, with September’s releases of some seriously long-awaited books. Both Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures Book I Hardcover and Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures Book II Hardcover will be landing then, with both targeting the 30th of the month.
The two tomes will bring some long out of print adventures back for modern audiences. It’s been a while too, since any of them have seen the light of day. While it had a decent run, that was way back in the mid-80s. And if you’re unfamiliar, the talent list onboard for that run was massive. We’re taking about some all-time greats.

The further, further adventures
Oh, and one last thing, as there’s something altogether new coming too. We unfortunately don’t know a heck of a lot about it, but whip-cracking fans can stay tuned for Indiana Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium #1 (of 5), which will be along some time in February of 2027.
Look for Jason Aaron to take up the writing on that one, with Aaron Kuder on art. The covers should be sharp too, with Bryan Hitch signed up. Again though, details are scarce, so stay tuned for more.

Wait til they get a load of Joker
Released earlier this year, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight immediately stirred up a massive amount of positive word. The game brings together a huge collection of the Dark Knight’s film and TV history, amalgamating it into a cohesive LEGO-ized vision of Batman. That includes some of his biggest movie-moments, not to mention his villains.
Actually, let’s mention them, as when the game arrived, there was also a downloadable content announcement. That was for something called the Mayhem Collection, a piece of DLC that’d allow players to actually play as the bad guys. Specifically, Joker and Harley Quinn.
Gamescom has brought a much better look at what that will entail too, including a new story mission for the un-dynamic duo. That’ll follow Joker and Harley as they attempt to initiate a break-out at Arkham.
Time for some Mayhem
As you can see in the trailer, the new story and playable villains might be the main event, but there’s a good deal more to the Mayhem Collection. For one thing, there’s the Mayhem Mode, which is separate from the story mission.
While they kind of bleed into one another in the video above, Mayhem Mode is a totally separate experience, that sees Joker and Harley Quinn take on “Mayhem Runs”. Those send the pair throughout the city, with the goal of making it back to Amusement Mile. It won’t just be a race against time though. Batman and Robin will be in pursuit, and there’ll be A.R.G.U.S. Agents on the hunt.
And we can’t forget “Task Force X” either. Amanda Waller’s squad of controlled villains will be looking to take Joker and Harley down. And we’re not talking about lightweights, as Deathstroke, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, “and other notorious DC Super-Villains” will all be included.
Rounding out the pack, is a host of cosmetics. The DLC will come fully packed with more costumes, a new vehicle, and Batcave Items. The trick is that all of the above will be Joker-themed, included in something called the Sinister Pack.
While the above is all paid DLC, there’s also a free update landing along side it. That’ll introduce a new difficulty level, in “Absolute”. The setting will “be even more challenging than the Caped Crusader and Dark Knight options”, according to publisher Warner Bros Games.
As for release dates, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knightis available now, for the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC (via Steam and Epic). Fans can pick up a copy in either Standard or Deluxe Edition forms. As for the DLC and update, fans can look for both of those to drop on September 18th.

Stuntman meets dinosaurs
A rebirth for a classic series, Stuntman: Hollywood is in the works from Saber Interactive. If you know the previous releases too, you should be right at home with this new incarnation. Once again, fans will be cast as a motion picture stuntman, performing daring feats for the cameras. That said though, this new version won’t be the same as the legacy editions.
The biggest change, other than the updated look of course, is that Stuntman: Hollywood will feature actual properties. That’s not to say that all of the scenes that players will play their way through are based on real films or TV. But even so, it looks like a decent chunk of them will be.
Featuring the game, will be legendary properties like Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, and Miami Vice. And yes, players will be able to get behind the wheels of absolutely iconic vehicles too. We’re talking about K.I.T.T., the DeLorean, and more. But hang on, because the reveals aren’t done yet.
This week, fresh from Gamescom, we got a peek at one more inclusion, in the form of Jurassic World. The modern incarnation of the 90s film series, Jurassic World’s section of Stuntman: Hollywood will naturally feature dinosaurs, and lots of them.
Buckle up and get ready to experience movie sets inspired by the iconic Jurassic World films from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. At today’s Xbox Gamescom Broadcast, Saber Interactive, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences, revealed that Jurassic World will be one of the blockbuster franchises featured in Stuntman: Hollywood, the new evolution of the classic stunt-racing series. This single-player action-racing game puts you in the driver’s seat for thrilling cinematic stunts inspired by fan-favorite Universal Pictures films and NBCUniversal television series like Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice and more! The latest trailer offers a first look at Stuntman: Hollywood‘s Jurassic World adventure, featuring high-speed chases, spectacular stunts, and exciting encounters with iconic dinosaur special effects, set against one of cinema’s most recognizable and awe-inspiring backdrops.
Saber Interactive press release
Stay tuned for more on this one, as Stuntman: Hollywood Doesn’t quite have a release date just yet. the action/driving title is heading to the PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC (via Steam), and wish listing is open now.

]]>The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 demo takes the spotlight, in a Nintendo Download that goes big on big names.
Switch 2 hears the Call of Duty
The biggest story for the Switch 2 this week, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s demo weekend is almost here. That would be just a few days from now, and will bring the first glimpse of CoD action to a Nintendo console in… well, a long time.
its the full game out on October 23rd, this weekend’s play test allows fans to download and play the demo. And for the first time, that includes both single and multiplayer action. It’ll kick off on August 28th (at 10 am Pacific) and run through September 1st (also at 10am).
As for actual games that you can buy and play, there are still a couple of big names titles landing. Those include the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 for both Switch consoles, and ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition for the Switch 2.
The former there is quite notable, as it includes Metal Gear Solid 4. What’s so great about that? Well, it’s actually the first time that game’s been ported to additional platforms. As hard as it might be to believe, it’d previously been exclusively locked into the PS3.
And for those curious, EDEN RING Tarnished Edition is sounding pretty packed as well. Included there is the base game, plus the SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE expansion. Those come along with “new weapons, armor, a new Torrent appearance customization and more.” So if you’ve yet to play the soulslike neo-classic, this seems like as good of an option as any.
This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following content:
