The University of Alabama is offering a FREE online ACT preparation and college readiness program, Tide to Success, for students in grades 9–12.

This six-hour, self-paced course is designed to help students build the skills, strategies and confidence needed to succeed on the ACT while exploring important college-planning resources.

Students who complete the program will:

Learn effective ACT test-taking strategies and foundational content
Explore college and career readiness resources
Gain access to ACT preparation materials for up to two years after course completion
Earn a digital badge recognizing their achievement and commitment to academic success

LAUNCH Collective Virtual Event

United States Senate Youth Program

The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) provides high school junior and senior student leaders the opportunity to attend a one-week program in Washington, D.C. Two delegates are selected per state and each delegate receives a $12,500 scholarship. Applicants must hold a high-level leadership position in any one of the following student government, civic, or educational organizations during the 2026-27 academic year. 1) Student body president, vice president, secretary or treasurer, 2) Class president, vice president, secretary or treasurer, 3) Student council representative, 4) A National Honor Society officer, 5) Student representative elected or appointed to a local, state, regional or national level civic or educational organization approved by the state selection administrator, 6) Commander or squadron leader of a JROTC unit. The Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) is a nine-month leadership development program for juniors and seniors that meets monthly (September – May) from 4:30pm – 7:30pm. Each meeting will feature a special guest speaker and a lesson focusing on their three pillars – faith, character, and/or patriotism. Additionally, you will participate in monthly service projects. By participating in YLDP events, you will earn points, which can qualify you for college scholarships.

All students interested in being considered to represent Chelsea High School at YLDP need to submit this linked application by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2.

The Fiesta Scholars Program is for young people who contribute to Alabama’s Latino community through leadership, cultural engagement, volunteerism, or community service. $5,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must have a 2.5 or higher GPA and be accepted to or attending a college, university, or trade school. The deadline to apply is August 30, 2026. The Alabama Association of Federal Education Program Administrators will award two $1,500 scholarships in honor of Leo Brown and Joan Buckley. Persons eligible for the Leo Brown scholarship must be pursuing a degree in education. Persons eligible for the Joan Buckley scholarship may be pursing a degree in any area of interest. Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. The application must be postmarked by Monday, September 28, 2026.

Huntingdon College Murphy Scholars/Rural Teacher Scholarship Program

Huntingdon College is offering scholarships to seniors from a rural school in Alabama who would like to become a teacher and return to a similar community. Chelsea High students qualify for this scholarship. Applicants must be eligible for full Pell Grant and federal TEACH Grant.
