In reply to Pam Smith. I may be related to GRC as well and have researched him quite a bit. I have a small disagreement with the author tho I am very pleased he included the covetous Wilkenson in his story. I believe GRC turned Jefferson down because of #1 His debts that were not honored by Virginia tho they were incurred in her Service and #2 The march to Vincennes thru freezing,flooded terrain had left him Rheumatic and in ill health. He used a cane just a few years ever afterwards. Also from my studies he fell into the fire due to his first stroke which left his left side mostly paralized. Very well written article overall.

Great pictures! Loved this writing. I have visited The Charles Demuth Museum in Lancaster, it’s only a few blocks from my home. I would so love to own something by Charles Demuth. He is most definitely my favorite painter. I have visited his gravesite as well. I am especially fond of the bedroom in which Charles use to sleep.

Because I believe I am a distant relative of George Rogers Clark, I have read as much as I can on the man. I find him to be one hell of a man. He, like George Washington, were men in the right place at the right time. The Clark/ Rogers family, his parents produced an outstanding family of men and women who played a tremendous role in the creation of the United States of America. I recommend the study of this family.

This is an excellent and intriguing article on George Rogers Clark. He seems to have been a person of great capability, yet one who was caught repeatedly in the gristmill and at the short end of repeated political advantage-taking of others. The notation of his brother, William’s, accomplishments is, indeed, especially ironic and magnifies the ultimately sad story of Clark.

Book ‘Man of War’ is SOOOOOoooooooooooo FUNNY! I had a lot of fun reading it. I’d highly recommend it! Now I wanna go do one too – and reinact… except that I’m a wimp! However if you’re interested in history, we have a Halloween tradition coming up soon here in Farmington NM. It’s called Dining with the Dead. Tickets are 25 bucks and it’s dinner at a graveyard. They feed you a nice meal among the gravestones and as you sit there, reinactors (or actors) each pretend one of the people buried there. They wear the period clothing and in the style that would have been worn by the person, and then they talk about their lives. A lot of the characters chosen for the event are exciting people from our towns past – or characters who were instrumental in our towns history. Sound like fun??? I haven’t been to one yet but want to go.

If you are in China, perhaps you could bring some of your astute observations of the culture you now explore to we who are USA mainstream/land bound?
I will buy that book!
