Last night at the Singletrack Advocates membership party, Arctic MTB treasurer Chris Schutte (right) presented a big check, literally and figuratively, to STA president Lee Bolling. Arctic MTB’s 2015 season was a huge success thanks to your enthusiastic participation at all of our races. That success translates into cash that we can proudly throw back into the bike community. STA trails and trail crews make our races possible! Please consider donating or volunteering!

Do you know who builds and maintains the trails you race on?Arctic Bicycle Club Mountain Bike Division owes a tremendous amount of gratitude towards STA for providing premium trails for our race courses. For the future of mountain bike racing in Anchorage, it is critical that our membership (yes, that is you) become active stewards of our local trails and provide support through hands-on participation with STA.

Bear Bells are more like “awareness bells” that alert wildlife, or other racers that you are approaching. These are mandatory for all racers, but we also suggest using them whenever you are riding on the local single-track trails where traffic is coming from either direction. Hearing an approaching biker can help to reduce collisions.
Bear Bells must be attached to you or your bike and stay on for the entire race.

]]>Due to the transitions within the MTB Board and Race Director position, our permit for this event was not included with the Road Division’s annual permit request to JBER.
We apologize for any disappointment. Don’t let this stop you from getting out there and climbing hills on your own, or as a group ride!
