Unfortunately the book is very difficult to find because it was privately published. There is a copy in the National Library in Kolkata.

I’m deeply moved by these posts. My great grandfather was at the front at Mesopotamia – and I’ve grown up listening to little anecdotes about the war. In fact, a lot of these stories survive in the things he left behind – his medals, his sword, his lieutenant colonel gear, the empty shells which are now used as decorative pieces in our drawing room. He even had a certificate recognizing his bravery in the war – signed by none other than Winston Churchill (who I think was the secretary of state then). My great grandfather eventually came back home to become the superintendent of alipore jail.

I thought of that too, but Baiji is too far north. This is near Nasiriya. I think it must be a small village.

The publication of the next book of the Trilogy is at least two years away…

biji means “long live” in kurdish (long live Kurdistan = biji Kurdistan), though the author is outside the Kurdish area south of modern day Iraq. maybe Baiji is what he meant, the town that is in the triangle between Musoul, Kirkuk and Tikrit?

just wondering if your new book will be on this subject? also i hoped to read the last book of the triology this summer, but i guess i will have to wait longer?
