Traditional detailing strengthens the single-story design with gabled massing and careful use of stone. The distinctive landscape ties to the modern ranch elevation with complementary features and compatible materials.
One of the project goals was to provide an adaptable design that allows buyers to customize their plan to meet their needs and priorities. This standard four-bedroom plan flexes with multiple buyer options to accommodate a variety of lifestyles. Included is a lock-off casita for a multigenerational buyer, along with additional opportunities to increase bed count, square footage and garage space.
While offering the ultimate single-level home for a family, all variations offer a spacious great room, bonus room, and den.

From the Judges | The elevation of this home is really inviting, especially with the stunning outdoor spaces. The tasteful use and blend of materials definitely feels like luxury production. The client’s collection of head-turning art drove the design of the home, and it wasn’t until the selections were complete that the home design could take final shape. Each painting, each sculpture, each furniture piece was chosen with a specific designated location, which was further developed to properly illuminate and showcase.
Upon entering the motor court, an inconspicuous flame-sprayed nickel wall transforms into a custom bifold garage door hidden behind vertical oak glulam louvers. Walking through the one-of-a-kind burled oak entry door, your eyes are immediately drawn to impeccably executed terrazzo floors and up over the rippling infinity pool to the expansive views of the neighboring canyons.
The purposeful reveals, indirect lighting and architectural breaks bring together a stunning collection of natural stones, exotic marble slabs, flame-sprayed metals, and specialty glazing products. The signature exterior element is the pool and sunken firepit area with highly technical waterproofing details, adjoining the house foundation and the pool structure, creating the illusion of a floating water slab hovering past the canyon’s edge.

From the Judges | The home almost feels museum-esque with its artistic features, but the design brings warmth to it. There is a well-thoughtout connection with the outdoors, including a great outdoor sitting area surrounded by infinity pool. The sunken living room also adds a nice Midcentury touch.

Perhaps the most important aspect of this art studio addition is the overall lighting in the space. The studio was built so that it faces north, allowing natural light to flood the space in the mornings. It also includes a south-facing window for plenty of afternoon light, as well as custom track lighting, set at a 35-degree angle to prevent glare and shadows on the canvas.
The studio was built with a stunning 22-foot vaulted ceiling to match the scale of the rest of the house. Painted black, the ceiling adds a bold contrast against the white walls of the space and further prevents glare.
The finishes in the art studio also perfectly match the finishes in the rest of the luxury home for a seamless design throughout both spaces. The artist plans to use the studio as a gallery, as the space is a work of art itself.

Walking from the front porch inside to the foyer, you are greeted by a spacious great room, casual dining area, well-appointed kitchen, and a charming courtyard. The kitchen is an entertainer’s dream, with a large center island, ample counter space, and plenty of cabinets. The expansive 24-foot-wide footprint bathes the home in natural light, further enhanced by a side yard.
The primary bedroom suite is a true sanctuary, showcasing a spa-like primary bath with dual vanities, a luxurious shower with a seat, private water closet, and an enormous walk-in closet. A roomy loft connects the secondary bedrooms, which share a hall bath with a separate vanity area.
