From 12pm to 5pm, parents, carers, friends and family are invited to explore exhibitions, showcases and displays from across the college, celebrating the work students have produced throughout the academic year.

In the evening, head over to Metronome from 6 pm – 9:15 pm for a special showcase featuring performances by our Music Performance and Audio Music Production students, supported by our Technical Events course.

From 11–17 May, Confetti College hosted a range of activities to support Mental Health Awareness Week, encouraging students to take time for themselves, connect with others and explore different ways to support their wellbeing.

The week included creative sessions such as an Art Swap and mood-board workshop, giving students space to express themselves, alongside fun social activities like a pop quiz and a ‘Green’ scavenger hunt running across the campus.

Every term we hold forums to give students a chance to provide feedback and let us know if there is anything that is impacting their time at Confetti.

The below list highlights some of the changes we have made around campus:

You said you wanted more privacy in the LRC Booths

We will be adding signage around the LRC, specifically, in the booths as a reminder that the LRC is a quiet space for working

You said you wanted vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free hot food options in the cafeteria

We have created a menu which caters for these dietary requirements. Ask a staff member for more details.

You said you wanted specific communications regarding the recent meningitis outbreak

We sent communications regarding meningitis to parents/carers of those under 18, as well as students at the end of Term 2

Some of you said PDE was not supporting your personal and professional development

We are reviewing, refreshing and updating the curriculum for next academic year (26-27)

You said you would have liked Neurodiversity Celebration Week promoted

Autism Awareness Month was promoted in April and we will ensure that Neurodiversity Celebration Week is added to our calendar for the next academic year (26-27)

Confetti College student Zayden Lindsay has been awarded Runner-Up in the Young Performer Award at this year’s Youth Power Awards.

The Youth Power Awards recognise young people across Nottinghamshire “that have amazing talent and resilience… an amazing celebration of all our amazing young people in Nottingham,” said founder Romel Davis.

Romel, who has known Zayden for several years, praised the impact of his spoken‑word work:
“His poetry, his spoken word, absolutely blows people away… these are really serious topics that impact a lot of people.” He added that Zayden’s ability to connect with audiences “is just such an amazing talent, and he’s so deserving of this award.”

Zayden was surprised when the award was presented at Confetti College.
“I’m shocked… I’m happy to receive some form of recognition.”

He shared how much the achievement means after years of performing and spreading his message to young people:
“Receiving the award, even though it wasn’t the top award means a lot to me… it’s an honour.”

Zayden began performing in 2017, inspired by watching his dad. Since then, his work has taken him far:
“I’ve made the news, been on tour in Jamaica. It’s going really well for me.”

What motivates him most is the impact his poetry has:
“I enjoy seeing how it impacts people’s lives… a lot of young people around my age can benefit and learn from it.”

Looking ahead, Zayden says,
“I’d love to see where this takes me, because the sky’s the limit for me… I’m just going to keep going and see where this takes me.”

And his message to other young creatives:
“Honestly, just be yourself… as long as you’re enjoying what you’re doing… you will go very far.”

It’s been a fantastic week at Confetti, as Industry Week 2026 brought together students, staff and creative professionals for an inspiring programme of talks, workshops, performances and hands‑on experiences.

Taking place from 2–6 March, the week gave students the chance to connect directly with industry, gain real‑world insight and explore future career pathways across the creative sectors.

Throughout the week, students heard from an exciting line‑up of industry guests who shared their journeys, advice and expertise. From music, games and film to design, esports and live events, speakers offered honest insight into creative careers, the realities of working in industry and the skills needed to succeed.

A Stellar Line-Up of Industry Experts

Alongside talks and panels, Industry Week 2026 placed a strong emphasis on practical learning. Students took part in workshops, masterclasses and live sessions designed to build confidence, develop technical skills and encourage creative experimentation. Events ranged from specialist production sessions and creative labs to behind‑the‑scenes industry insights and career‑focused guidance.

The week opens with hands-on workshops led by academics from Nottingham School of Art and Design, giving you practical sessions that develop your skills and set the tone for what’s to come.

From games developers working on AAA titles to music legends and up and coming stars, Industry Week 2026 brings the creative industries directly to campus.

You’ll hear from the people producing films, designing products, coaching elite esports teams, programming major festivals and running live arenas.

It’s a week that reflects the full scale of the industries you’re stepping into, from global entertainment brands to independent creative projects.

Alongside the talks, there will be a special screening of Surrender To It and practical workshops, including CV writing support to help you prepare for what comes next.

Industry Week is one of the biggest moments in the Confetti calendar.

Plans are being discussed to schedule more opportunities to offer cross course events. This will be communicated in the near future

You said you wanted a board in classrooms for an Art Swap

This is now up and running with plans to expand to other cohorts soon.

You said that some classrooms were too cold

Campus Operations have resolved these issues and the rooms are now warmer

You said you wanted the cost of period products in machines in toilets to be lowered

These products are available in Student Services for free

You said you wanted more support and guidance on using Campus Press

Instructional videos are being recorded and will be shared with students in due course

You said you wanted more help in searching for part-time job

We have created the Confetti College Opportunities Teams Channel, with templates, cover letters and interview skills available. 1:1 support is also available on request

At Confetti College, we are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment both on campus and online.

Parents and Carers play a vital role in helping your child making the right choices online.

Safer Internet Day (2024) launched research which discovered that:

• 63% of parents and carers feel like things such as social media apps, gaming and AI are changing too quickly for them to keep up
• 74% of parents and carers feel worried that the fast-changing online world poses safety risks to their child
• 43%, of children and young people feel pressure to keep up with the latest social media trends and features, such as filters or TikTok trends
• 36% of children and young people sometimes notice a negative change in their mental well-being when they have been on social media

What can parents and carers do to support their child?

• Have regular open and honest conversations- this includes recognising the benefits of the internet for things like learning and socialising with friends
• Use age-appropriate advice
• Stay up to date with technology and trends- the NSPCC have articles focused around online gaming, live streaming and inappropriate content, including what they are and the potential harms they can cause
• Set up parental controls- your home broadband/mobile provider should be able to advise on how these are implemented
• Set boundaries- this could include how long your child can use the internet, what time they can use it until or handing devices to adults overnight
• Be aware of safeguarding concerns- grooming and radicalisation can happen online. It is important that if you suspect this is happening to your child, you report to the police, children’s social care, CEOP and our Confetti College Safeguarding Team

Dan Ottewell has performed the most sets by someone under the age of 18 in Glastonbury’s history and this year he’s also celebrating 10 years since he first played the festival with the Greenpeace Kids Band. He joined us for an interview to discuss his music and time at Confetti.  

Tell us about what you’ll be doing at Glastonbury this year. 

I’ll be performing a few sets across the festival site in the Circus, Avalon and Woodsies vicinity. I’m buzzing about it!  

How has your time at Confetti helped your career?  

My time at Confetti has created some fantastic opportunities for me. It’s such a creative hub and an invaluable asset to the city. Giving creatives a space to work and collaborate is vitally important to keeping Nottingham the cultural and rebellious centre that it is. 

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring musicians? 

Just keep going. Nothing is stronger than will power. Keep doing what it is you love and telling people about it. It’s all about making friends. People can tell if you love what you do or not, so if you’re passionate, it shows. 

What’s one piece of advice you’d give people thinking about studying music? 

The way I look at it is that the creative industry is one of the only industries that this country really dominates in, so don’t let anyone tell you it’s a waste. If you are doing something you love, you will get good at it and if you are good at something, your skills will always be needed.  

What’s one emerging trend you’re seeing in your industry? 

Something I’m loving is that young people are starting to get their voice heard again. Starting with Sam Fender’s Hypersonic Missiles to artists like Chloe Slater now, popular music has a bit of an attitude and heart again. Young people aren’t pulling any punches and aren’t being told what to sing about and I love it.  

What’s one thing people should know about you? 

Something I’ve started doing a lot more is sewing my own artwork. So if you want an exclusive CD case with unreleased material (recorded at Abbey Road in London), come down to a show. I’m a lad who uses a sewing machine – deal with it!
