Apple refers to these as an “Apple Service Program”, but in reality these are Apple Recalls. Apple will usually service, or replace the device that is affected.
What Should I Do?
First, check Apple’s website here to see if your device is affected. If your device does indeed meet the criteria, you should contact Apple at 1-800-275-2273, and ask for the AppleCare team which is Apple’s technical support. Once you reach them, you are speaking to a tier 1 representative. Most of the time, the tier 1 agent will be able to help you with any publicized recall or service program. On occasion, Apple will sometimes not publicize a defect, in which case these are handled on a case by case basic.
What If My Problem Is Not Publicized?
On a case by case basis, Apple may have an internal procedure for handling certain issues. More often then not, the tier 1 agent will not have to tools, or access to help with the unpublicized issues. At this time you will want to politley ask for a tier 2 representative, or requesting a supervisor will also get you to the tier 2 agent.
AppleCare Tier 2
When dealing with an AppleCare tier 2 representative, they do have the additional tools, or authorization to make things happen especially if the affected device is an non-publicized, or an internal process documentation Apple refers to these as.
What If Tier 2 Is Not Helpful?
You have additional options at your disposal. 1.) You can ask to speak to AppleCare Customer Relations. AppleCare Customer Relations is the department that handles any customer complain in relation to a technical support issue. You HAVE to have an existing case number whuch woukld have been provided to you during the call or chat when speaking with the tier 1 representative. If you still are not getting the help you feel you need, at this time you can 2.) email a higher up exectutive, or contact via email the CEO. These issues are mostly handled by Executive Customer Relations. Executive Customer Relations can get your device swapped and can issue some form of compensation like a gift card or some device for free.

You have multiple options when it comes to repairing this problem. There are many rumors out, for what works, and what doesn’t. We can however say with certainty, that you can do any of the below jobs yourself.
Call Apple
1. Apple never officially published public documentation for this issue, however Apple uses a thing called an internal process doc, which an employee is supposed to follow when a customer calls in about an issue like this. Sometimes Apple may not publish a process doc at all, and in these scenarios, it is usually in the customers benefit to push for a fix. Some of the more senior or tenured Apple Advisors may handle each one of these on a case by case basis. The best thing you can do is document your call, write down any case number you were given by the Apple representative you spoke to. Persistence usually will pays off. Ask Apple to replace your screen, or ask for a replacement computer. These screens never should have failed like this. If you get no where with Apple, then try some of the other methods listed here.
Replace Your Screen
2. Replacing your screen is another option, albeit a more expensive option. Screens can cost North of $350, which is not a inexpensive fix, but it is a fix that will work, if you feel confident in replacing the screen on your own. Our suggestion is to order the entire assembly, metal and all. If you are not sure if you can handle this repair yourself, it is best to leave it up to the pros. We would be more than happy to assist you with your repair options. Contact us now for a FREE no obligation quote.
Remove The Delamination
3. This is the most inexpensive solution for removing the lamination over the screen, and if you put in the time and elbow grease, this option might be ideal for you. After trying multiple methods of cleaners ensuring not to damage the screen further, we have found that using baby wipes is the best method. Yes, baby wipes, we are not kidding. You can pick these up at any Dollar Store near you. Be advised, you may not be able to get up all the lamination, however we have been successfull each and every time removing about 97% or more of the lamination. We will however forwarn you, this requires a lot of elbow grease. Just think of Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid movie, “Wax on, wax off Daniel son”. Before you start, we always recommend finding a small inconspicuous corner to test this, before you go all in. We suggest an unscented brand like these Huggies baby wipes that can be ordered here on Amazon: Baby Wipes
Leave It For The Pros
4. We have been successful with removing at least 97% or more of the laminate from all screens. How much will something like this cost? Prices start from $100. Removing the laminate can be a time consuming process but we guarantee your screen will look much better then it does with the patches of laminate it currently has. We recommend bringing your MacBook in for a free evaluation today.

You must not forget that you are not the only one that is going though this period of social distancing. It is very important that you communicate not just with your childrens teachers, but make it a habit to hold a weekly meeting involving as many parents as possible. One of you is bound to stumble on to something the other parent hasn’t, and can share tips like what has, or has not worked. The more of you that share your experiences, the greater the chances of having a safe and successful online learning environment for both yourself, and for future parents.
No I do not mean the FaceTime using Apple’s iPhone, I am talking about good ol’ fashion communication with your kids, face to face. Sitting down with your child, having some one on one time, will usually show where there might be some weak spots in your childrens online lesson plan, or way of studying. Since we are all different and have varying degrees of learning, it is important that we remind ourselves that our children are going through this too, and that means that it is equally important to take the time to listen to what our children have to say.
Create “What would you do if?”scenarios, like, “What if Bobby was working on his math assignment, all of a sudden Bobby gets a friend request from someone he does not know, but Bobby knows this person is friends with one of his online classmates. What would Bobby do? Positioning ourselves in a “What would you do?” scenario allows us to quickly and easily spot what might be an undesireable outcome, before a real, or similar outcome may happen. Remember to give very limited guidance while doing this role plsy. It may be tempting to want to jump in and guide our children down the right path, but it is important to show them what might be the outcome if they were to get in to this exact situation in real life.
So you just found out that your child has been talking to some stranger online. Relax, don’t assume the worst. It is important that you tell your child that they will not be in trouble if they come to you, no matter what it is. Now is the time to sit down with your kid, in a calm tone and manner. Ask him or her about this stranger, have they met? Has the stranger ever spoken to you? Do you know there name? It’s always important to keep a cool and clear head when talking to your kids, especially about this stuff. If you do find that your child has been talking to a stranger online, check out this website to learn more about how you should handle the situation.
Nothing comes close to good old fashion, low tech observation. You should always be around your child, especially when using the internet. In a world where there is so much screen time between all the digital devices we use, if something is going to be noticed, it won’t be by some kind of tech monitoring software or equipment. It will be from picking up on different signals your child is giving off. Nothing is better then a mothers intuition right? Sorry dad’s but there is some truth to that. It is important what we as parents set rules early on in our children’s lives. Having a clear and well understood set of rules early will help set the groundwork for learning right from wrong, good or bad, when your child reaches adulthood. Make sure when you set these rules, that you consistently stick with them otherwise your child will not know when is the appropriate time to apply the rules to each and every situation. Remember that you are always considered to be a role model early on in your child’s life whether they say it or not. So always be mindful that your child is nearby waiting and watching.
One, out of every four children throughout the country admit to talking to a complete stranger at least once during their childhood. In fact, many kids type in a code, which is really just acronyms.
