I’m still not sure how I’ll start the conversation like that..Though I know it’s inevitable..
My dh and I have recently been through DE IVF shots in Ukraine. We’ve been successful for the first time since ever!! We’ve tried all the possible options with OE before, like mitochondrial donation and ICSI..but all the attempts resulted in bfn..my eggs turned out to be absolutely useless that is why we turned to donor eggs..Well, I’m in the research stage so to say..Am just keeping on reading on the point..Hopefuly I’ll get to know what to say to my DE IVF kid when time comes…

Strong! I absolutely agree with it till the last word! I hate the lies and always tell the truth.
If a child will know everything from the very childhood he won’t be vulnerable and nobody could hurt him by saying the truth. Sooner or later he will know but it will really be better if he get it from his own parents but not from strangers.

That’s a really great idea to write such advertisement as it may help other intended parents to be aware of possible commitments, issues and outcomes before, during and after an egg donation process. I am one of the parents who are looking for an appropriate place for egg donation program and it would be great to read some reviews about somebody’s previous experience.

It was really nice to read Heather’ story. I’m so happy for her and her husband. I love reading such success stories! They are just amazing! They give hope, they inspire, they motivate. They make you believe you can and will be a mother. Heather’ words about her emotional path of failed treatments almost made me cry… I know how it feels. I’ve been there myself… Those questions, “When/Why/How?” had never left my mind… Those “ifs” were always with me. I can’t believe all those things are far behind. I just wanted to say a few words about my path from infertility to pregnancy through de ivf. I’m 32 yo. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19. I’ve been in treatments for years. My husband and I have been together for almost 10 years. All this time we were ttc, but unfortunately treatments, meds, shots, etc. gave no results. Two years ago one of my doctors advised us to try donor eggs. We were not 100% sure we want to go this way. We’ve been thinking about this option for a year or even more. To be honest, it was me, who had lots of doubts and questions. Eventually I agreed to try and we went for ivf with donor eggs. I’ve got pg from the first attempt which was great surprise for us. After 10 years of infertility struggle we are finally pregnant!

Wonderful article, thanks a lot for it. So many helpful and useful tips. I haven’t decided yet how and when I tell my child that he/she is donor conceived, but I’ll definitely use your advice. Recently I’ve been looking through the comments on some forums about how to tell your child the truth about donor. And I really liked one response. OP said they (she and her dh) always told their daughter how she was conceived. From the time she was a toddler the words like “egg donor” and “mommy had some help” were a part of how they talked around her. It was important that being conceived with a donor egg was something that was always in the room, but not an elephant, more like the curtains. You see them, you know they are there, but not such a big deal. When their daughter became a teenager, she was asking questions about genetics, sometimes curious but never questioning that she’s OP’ daughter. I want to do my best so my child won’t feel that the fact he/she is a donor-conceived baby is something odd, weird or scary. It should be something normal. And I want my baby to perceive it as a normal thing.

I’m pregnant and I used donor eggs. To be honest I was very scared at the very beginning of my journey. I had so many doubts. I think all women who choose de ivf as an option have doubts and uncertainty about their choice. It took me more than a year to decide if I really ready to go this way. My husband was 100% positive about using de. Why wouldn’t he, right? There is nothing to worry about for him. It will be his child with his features and his blood. But for me it was tough decision. I knew baby won’t be genetically related to me. I knew the baby might even not look like me. To be honest I was scared… I was thinking up scenarios like someone telling me that my child has nothing similar with me. I thought everyone will know for sure that I’m not a real mother of a baby. Now all those thoughts seem so ridiculous to me! I was so happy when pregnancy test showed positive result. And I was so happy when doctor confirmed it. All thoughts about donor eggs, doubts, dumb scenarios just faded away. This is my child and I’m his/her mother! Nothing else matters. Speaking about “appearance problem”, we were able to choose features(like hair color, eye color, nose shape, etc.) which we wanted our donor to have. But I think the most important thing is healthy and happy baby, right?
