Congratulations and welcome Rick Verhallen as our new Club President. Rick has been a long time member of the club and we appreciate him stepping forward to lead.

Lockdown Lifted – Field News

With the stay at home order being lifted the field will be open effective Tuesday February 16^th. Please ensure that you maintain social distancing of 6ft/2m and be cautious around any potentially shared surface.

Housekeeping items:

Please make sure if you’re going out flying that your MAAC is paid up for 2021
Ensure your club dues are paid to Bobby. Club membership has gone up to $80 dollars this year to cover increasing costs.
Finally, please drive slowly on the gravel lane, especially if there is standing water. Quicker traffic moves around more of the dirt and kicks out stones which increases the rate that the pot holes form.

Field Update – Clubhouse and Generator

Some brief updates on the field:

Clubhouse

Al has let us know that he’s moving ahead with tearing down the shed containing our clubhouse. Due to this, all personal affects must be removed by Sunday August 16^th. Anything left after the 16^th may be thrown out or otherwise destroyed. Al is planning on constructing a new larger building roughly on the same foundation. We can expect debris from the shed along the length of the runway once it’s been knocked down.

Generator

The club generator is suffering from unnecessary wear due to incorrect handling. We are asking that anyone wishing to use the generator talks with Alex to get checked out on what needs to be done. Also, please bring your own gas for the generator, and do not use the gas in the shed for the lawnmower.

Laneway

As you may have noticed, the lane is getting bumpy again. In part this is caused by our traffic, and is accelerated when folks are driving quickly. If everyone could please keep their speed down (10kph) when coming and going to help limit our impact, it would be appreciated.

Had a blast video taping the carnage of foam and coro meeting streamer and string today. Stress release in the form of chaotic, but (usually) controlled mahem in the skies. Check out the video and enjoy!
