I turned 29 today.

When my boyfriend asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, again, just like every year it seems, I was sort of confused. I didn't really want to do anything. He was a bit confused by my choice and wanted to know immediately what was wrong. And nothing was really wrong. I'm just so ambivalent about the whole experience. He still didn't understand; my boyfriend is a couple of years younger than me so his idea of birthdays is doing it big, partying it up, maybe getting wasted. So we're at two different points and he wanted to gain insight on what it felt like to be on the cusp of 30. And the best way I could describe it is that it's on the cusp of 30. You've left your 20's behind for the most part. But you're not quite 30. It's that awkward feeling, sort of like when you're the next person in line. Have you ever been to a deli counter and you're waiting for your number to be called? They call the number right before yours and you get a bit confused. Check your number to make sure it isn't your turn. You do a double take, thinking your eyes might be playing tricks on you.... You're that anxious. You know you're next...but it's not quite your turn. That's how to 29 feels. You're transitioning, true, but you still feel 27. You're ready for 30 but you aren't quite 30. You're just waiting... waiting for the next phase of your life. What has been said to be a great transition to begin. And time flies. I can definitely remember being 25 and it feels like yesterday. So imagine turning 29... still feeling 27... and knowing that a great transition is a short year away.

I don't think my boyfriend truly understands how it feels, but he will see. Soon enough.

i've been eyeballing this grey sweater dress in my closet for a whole two weeks now. i got it right at the end of spring for $15 at a season clearance sale and only got one wear out of it before the weather had turned too warm. it was during a date to the Baltimore Museum of Art with my honey. that dress was perfect for that day, as it was kind of cloudy and cool, and my boyfriend thought i was cute as a button in it. it's been hanging in my closet ever since, waiting for the first snap in the air to be whisked from it's humid prison. i haven't broken it out yet because the timing hasn't been... ideal. sure, there have been a couple of cool, even chilly days, but mostly mornings that yield to hot/humid afternoons. not yet. even today, it's almost October (0_0) and still topping out at 80°F (O_O). so the dress shall wait patiently for the perfect moment, when i can throw it on with some leather boots and a colorful scarf and enjoy the crisp, cool air. hello Autumn! you're my favorite!

day and night

if you follow me on Twitter, you'd know that i endure a hour and a half commute every morning and evening. it's not too terrible; a lot of sitting and waiting, but that means that a lot of my free time is chewed up by... sitting and waiting. so, i need a work wardrobe that transforms easily to hanging out after hours. comfy materials in tailored cuts, bright colors, easy to wear, but still full of personality. i'm really feeling jewel tones and lots of leather this fall and those green pumps are to die for!

belle of the ball

i wanna be pretty. these are a few pretty things. if you can't tell by know, i'm really feeling emerald as my go to color this season. it's just so darn... pretty! and such a gorgeous, drapey dress deserves great trimmings, such as the dainty gold jewelry. the birdcage bangle is me being very meta but it's set off nicely by the golden collar necklace. pops of velvet amethyst with the retro slingbacks and clutch. and just to bring a bit of androgyny to the game, because honestly too pretty for me makes me uncomfortable, the beige leather asymmetric collarless jacket is so necessary.

on the regular

let's be honest... i'm as chill as they come. and i wear more menswear inspired pieces that the über girly ones i see my super-ego wearing. in real life, you'd probably catch me in something more this speed, palling around the farmer's market on weekends. i may have souped myself up with the sneaks and the bag, but i love the relaxed look of that belted jacket with the, wait for it... emerald green panel top! i can't get enough! also, my newest obsession are those bangles and that ring. the jewelry looks vintage and personal and fits in with the throwback style of the flare jeans. all that's missing is the grande Starbucks cup! and i'm ready for fall!

i should be wearing my sweater dress and some boots. logically, i should be wearing an undershirt today, but i YOLOd it and am paying dearly for it. but, i foresaw this predicament and packed my plaid scarf, which is keeping my neck quite warm on this very chilly morning. too chilly to be called "chilly" actually. i don't feel prepared although i'm ready. hello Autumn. it's been too long.

finally got to try Roti here in DC. it's an à la carte Mediterranean fast food restaurant with several locations throughout the city. the meat and roasted veggies were very good, as was the tomato and cucumber salad. the falafel was also pretty good, although a bit on the soggy side. the couscous was a little too cold, the sauces a little to mayonnaisey and the rice was a complete throwaway. would do better with Jasmine or Basmati and it would be great if lamb was on the menu.

photo a day: price. the price of the fruit i got at the Amish market last week could not be beat! not only that, but the fruit was amazingly sweet.

shout out to the faux-nado that hit DC! it totally wrecked my commute for two solid days! it took me four hours to get home Tuesday evening and three hours to get to work Wednesday. no picture for this day, unless you want to see the bags under my eyes.

'memba this? it's the Nickelodeon daily lineup back when i was a kid... 15 years ago!! sheesh! feel old? i used to know this schedule like the back of my hand and was always excited for new episodes of The Secret World of Alex Mack.

Bonus birthday gift for my boyfriend. he loves beer, especially microbrews and specialty brews. i discovered this the night we met, at the bar of a restaurant near my house. could also be because he's a Brit, but i bought him a sick growler and had it filled at the very restaurant we met with a beer he told me he loved that very night. he absolutely dug it.

photo a day: favorite. this is one of my favorite breakfast items. i was turned on to it in high school by one of my classmates. there's the little deli across the street that many of us would frequent. my HS is very progressive and didn't have a cafeteria, so we were allowed free time to roam around and enjoy long lunches, feeling very adult-like. anyway, she oredered this breakfast sandwich, an egg & cheese on toasted croissant with... grape jelly! i initially turned my nose up at it, but the burgeoning foodie in me gave it a try and has been hooked every since. the jelly cuts the richness of the egg and cheese and the buttery croissant, giving much needed balance. give it a try! it works with strawberry jam too, if you're above grape (u_u ).

it's 60°F this morning. that fills me with such glee! you know how i feel about autumn. i go from looking like a sweaty, glistening hog to a sophisticated Mrs. Piggy in the blink of an eye. so i was happy this morning to be out in the cool crisp air, even though i was still dressed like summer, with my skimmers, no socks, and summer cardigan. i was happily shivering on the train!

photo a day: far away. there was a wedding at the very classy Belvedere near my apt. as much as i've always wanted to get married, that concept seems so far away right now... i just realized the actual work that two people have to do to get to that point, not to mention i'm almost 30 and have been with my boyfriend for less than a year. i still want it though.

photo a day: mailbox. the one thing i hate about moving into a new apartment is still receiving the former tenant's mail. it's so awkward! so i just leave it in there and hope that the mailman with get the picture. it's been a year and i don't think he will.

photo a day: bright. my commute this week was anything but. i had some time to make up in my work hours this week, so that meant i did three 12-hr shifts in a row! i was up and at work before sunrise and back home way after sunset. i hated it.

Thursday

i've discovered free cupcakes. it makes me so happy. Georgetown Cupcake has a secret password everyday and my coworkers and i have made it a point to take a break, for mental health reasons, to go for an invigorating walk in the mornings and the cupcake is like a free reward at the end of it. but only if the flavor is appetizing, otherwise we're "too busy" with work.

a bit of déjà vu for you... look back up to the picture from Wednesday... yeah. again, i was so through with my work schedule this week that i had not the wherewithal to take a picture on Friday. i had an interview, a luncheon, still worked late, had dinner with my mother and her boyfriend, and crashed too hard when i got home.

photo a day: at night. i guess because i was so wrapped up in work this week, all i wanted to do on Saturday was get out and enjoy the air. i drove for a while, picked up some hair stuff, and relaxed for the rest of the night. 'twas heaven.

look back up to the picture from Wednesday... the part where i said i was so ready for the end of the day? well, that is the reason why there's no picture from Friday. I was that tired. although, i did meet a really nice stranger on the train who was a stuntman at Six Flags America when it was Adventure World. i used to love that place and he was Batman! now, he's an IT tech. such is life.

i'm sitting in my apartment while it storms outside. i was supposed to go to the Maryland state fair today, but those plans are canceled, obviously, as the sky gets grayer and the lightning becomes more active. this blows. it's also been a week since i've seen my boyfriend, which has caused a bit of friction between the two of us. for couples that spend ample time with each other, missing a day or two is no big deal. but, because we work opposite schedules, missing a chance to spend time together means that 10 days could go by without seeing one another. imagine the pent up emotions, good or bad, that could cause...

the week started off with the best intentions. hit the farmer's market with my boyfriend. had to drag him there practically, since he works on Sundays, but once he got there, he fell in love with the sights, the options, and we of course came back and cooked brunch. he definitely noticed a difference in the quality as opposed to what he gets from the regular grocery store.

photo a day: today. i practice Casual Mondays. isn't it enough that i can barely shift from Weekend Mode to Work Week Mode, but i simply cannot go so far as to set out office wear for the week. fortunately, my job has a very casual dress code, so this outfit works pretty well.

photo a day: cool. the weather has been cooler lately. that means i haven't had to really utilize my A/C since summer started, which the electric bill gawds are smiling about.

photo a day: path. besides clouds, there are all sorts of amazing sights along the Marc train tracks, including a growing family of deer, foggy valleys, and hidden paths that i'm sure lead to beautiful houses.

the week before this one ended kind of rough. after not getting a job that i was really thirsting for, i had sort of a breakdown. a lot of questions were swirling about my head and i felt really unsteady. after a long talk and long hug, i entered this week on a more sure foot. not necessarily sure of my professional future, but at least my personal life is right where it should be.

definitely the highlight of my week. date night with my handsome, loving, supportive, charming, witty, 15 awesome facial expressions, sometimes annoying, always sarcastic, ratchet music listening, sci-fi entertainment loving, intellectual glasses wearing, Mr. Nice Watch, stickler for grammar but not so much for punctuality boyfriend. the night was magical and he did everything in his power to put a smile on my face, including over-tipping the waitress. she deserved it.

photo a day: glasses. in undergrad, my friends would always call me the girl from Signs. i never saw the movie, but apparently she had a habit of leaving bottles of half-consumed water all around the house, which ended up saving them in the end. i did the same thing in my dorm room and i still do the same thing. i just cannot finish a glass of water fully and will leave cups all over my nightstand.

The Gathering in Baltimore is a big food truck rally where people can come out and get food, treats, and drinks from the city's finest all in one place. i went with my homegirl and had a decadent crabcake cone from Gypsy Queen Café that i've been craving for months! i'm definitely going back as i spied other trucks i want to sample.

photo a day: purple. walking past my neighbor's house, i peeped some chili peppers and... an eggplant?! no way! right there on a city street in the window was fresh produce. pretty damn cool.

happy August! the summer is on its last leg, although i didn't really do much to enjoy it. while most of my friends spent it at festivals and concerts and traveling, i spent it making a meager wage at a temp job... that i'm very grateful to have, might i add. paying my bills is a joy, even though i have no money leftover to have any actual fun. speaking of last leg, the Olympics were somewhat amazing! i say "somewhat" because NBC sports absolutely sucks! look, i get it, the goal of a network is to keep people watching and garner ratings, but how dare you make me sit through four hours of uninteresting events just to catch thirty minutes of the main event! i was up wayyyy past my bedtime and avoided all types of media just to catch certain historical moments. Khaaaaan!

i've been in the business of making agua frescas this summer. mostly because my eyes are bigger than my stomach when i see delectable fruits at the farmers market. then i get home and realize i have a real aversion to the texture of most fruits. they're too soft and squishy most times, which is why i gravitate towards apples and bananas. the solution to being seduced by the purple sweet plums? make juice. this concoction here is puréed plums strained and mixed with fresh water and honey. i still have to figure out what to do with all the peaches i bought...

photo a day: outside. hello August. this is the golden time of day. wish i could've captured the morning light, but there was none! for the first time this summer. it'll be sweater season before we know it.

photo a day: one. on the other end of the summer spectrum, the opposite of agua fresca-ing is roasting just about everything. this onion was so effing glorious! just an onion, sliced in half, tossed with olive oil, salt, and pepper transforms after sun bathing in the oven for 25 minutes. it's a sweeter, tanner version of its usual self.

Friday lunch with my coworkers. i introduced them to my fave, Bangkok Joe's. if you love Thai and live in DC, you must try it, if only for the sexy bowls. you know i love me a sexy bowl!

another summer week in the books! i spent it being very jealous of one of my homegirls. y'all know how i am about my birthday and her's was this past week. i guess i'm not the only person with birthday anxieties because she said "screw that!", hopped on a plane with her boyfriend, and spend 3 days in Cabo San Lucas. they spent most of it bickering like an old married couple, but the pictures she posted showed nothing but tranquil days lounging on the beach, eating brunch on a boat, and horseback riding. i'm jealous. and totally stealing the idea.

as i mentioned last week, it was Artscape Weekend in Baltimore. probably the coolest thing about the city. it's a total weird fest with tons of art, jewelry, and clothes for sale, exhibits, free plays and dances, tons of food and music concerts. i just went for the food this year, but that's just me.

this is a regular size bag of potato chips. had they been Utz, they'd probably be 75¢. i paid $2 for this bag from a fru fru sandwich shop in Union Station. i regret nothing.

photo a day: mirror. i love my apartment. it's filled with all sorts of cute details and tons of character. case in point, the mirrors in my bathroom are screwed in and capped with these lovely glass flowers.

i don't like to broadcast my healthy eating habits because then people would be like "oh! you're trying to lose weight?" and i'd have to explain to them that i'm perfectly healthy, just not skinny. shits awkward. but, i was on a fruit and veggie kick last week, trying to undo the week of latte/croissant breakfasting from the week before. but Wednesday night, hump day found me with no inspiration for dinner. then this happened. then gravy fries happen. and that's all i can say about that.

photo a day: sunshine. another skygram from my view on the Marc train. it's a daily inspiration and solidifies my love of train-riding.

Friday

Friday lunch with my coworkers. i look forward to this day on Tuesday when i'm eating reheated leftovers from Sunday. it gets me through to know i'll be rewarded with meals like this Seafood Fra Diavolo. and cupcakes. those happened again too.

Saturday

Saturday was spent with my boyfriend, doing what Brits do... yelling chants at a soccer game. this is a Tottenham-Liverpool exhibition in Baltimore. i find it wild that two England teams came all the way to M&T Bank stadium to play soccer, but there were over 40K people there. my bf let me know that if we were in England, it would be twice and many people, twice as loud, and twice as much pandemonium.

photo a day: 9 o'clock - you already know! cleaning off my DVR and only moving from the bed to forage for food. BTW, have you seen Take Me Out? when i first saw the premise for it, my feminist Spidey senses went off... 30 gorgeous women vying for the attention of one scruffy man?! but, it's actually good. the women are beautiful, funny, smart, and in total control. many a douchebag has left without a date. check it out! i'm glad i did.

riding on the Marc train to and from work, i see some amazing sights. the mist in the mornings, the graffiti under bridges, and the clouds during the evening... just stunning. i don't know if it has anything to do with being so close to the airport, but the clouds sit so low, i swear the sky is falling.

photo a day: texture - as i've gotten older, i've fallen in love with the texture of runny egg yolks. something we were always warned against as children, i was previously squeamish about yolks and would only eat eggs scrambled. one day, out to eat with my old roommate, who always loved a rare steak and sunny side up eggs for brunch, i was tempted to try it and have been hooked ever since. now, i put a fried egg atop anything... warm salads, pasta, grilled meat, and it's a great excuse to make hash!

this first week of July was too hot! the weather consistently passed the 100°F mark and the humidity... off the charts! that being said, i kind of enjoyed it. i didn't do anything for the Fourth of July, but i didn't really want to. it was nice having a day off in the middle of the week. i spent some of it with my bf, some of it shopping with a friend, and the rest of it with the television, LOL! to top it all off, i think i finally have my commute to a T! i am a master of the Marc.

Friday should've sucked. i received a laughable paycheck, i was dragged to see the travesty that was Madea's Witness Protection, and there was a freak storm that stranded my family and me in a restaurant and knocked out some towers. BUT, Friday was awesome because the evening before was a great night spent with my bf, my paycheck came through on time, and i was stranded with the people i love in a fantastic restaurant eating fantastic food. if you're ever in Baltimore, check out Woodberry Kitchen and get the CMP for dessert, if for the brûléed marshmallow topping alone.

another Saturday with me spent catching up on sleep. it wasn't quite the sleepy haze as last week, but it was the same schedule of sleep, tv, food, sleep, light cleaning, tv, food... and i loved it! i've found a Saturday groove and i ain't ashamed! one of the meals i made was simple Hasselback potatoes, which i imagine to be a lazy man's scalloped potatoes. it's yummy and i topped it off with the remainder of my roasted chicken tossed with my housemade BBQ sauce. i roast off some chicken on Sundays and shred it up to toss in quick meals throughout the week so i'm not stuck with the prospect of making a full scratch meal on a Tuesday night when i get home at 7.30p. it saves me from going to sleep tired and hungry or eating a huge bowl of cereal at 10p.

another week down and what a rough one it was. i mean, my spirits are high right now but i'm sooooo tired! this was my first full week at my new job and i'm just getting used to the commute, which is a lot rougher than it should be. it should take 1.5hrs, but DC traffic is terrible! i don't remember it being this bad and the scary thing is, i don't think there is anything the city can do about it; it's just overcrowded. it takes 2 hours for me to get home, if i'm lucky, and by the time i do, i have three hours to maybe cook, maybe shower, and catch my breath with a bit of TV. then i pass out before 11p and wake up at 6a to do it all over again. i'll get used to it tho. i am grateful for the job and that i'm not in the house on my ass all day.

Happy Father's Day! i hope you all had a great week. mine was interesting. again, the weather was beautiful and i started a new job. it's great to be back in DC on a regular basis, but i must get my commute under wraps... because 3 hours just to get home is NOT the business. but, i spent the weekend with my family in DC for my mother's birthday/grandmother's birthday party/father's day. a lot went down on Saturday and i saw close to 200 family members and friends. it was great (^_^)

it's been a long time... i shoudn't have left you... without some fine mens to obsess to. Man Candy alert!!

it must be the warm weather and the fact that men are now walking around with big, shiny muscles in thin, tight tank tops, but i have been quite the hound dog lately. whether it be a shirtless man on Instagram or a tall chocolatey man in cargo shorts glistening in the sun at the wine mixer but i got my creep shades on and i'm giving every fine man a #HeyBoo.

TV has also been good to me. between summer tennis, watching the NBA playoffs by proxy, and the upcoming Olympics, i'm checking out all the hard bodies. and you should too. let me help you out.

you should already know by now that i don't really care for basketball although i have date quite a few players. these days, i leave the athletes alone but still pine over their long and lean bodies when i'm forcibly watching the game while at the bar or with my man. enter the OKC Thunder. touted as a young team with a lot of heart, they are currently in the NBA finals against the Heat. One of the key players is power forward Serge Ibaka of Congolese-Spanish decent. what a yummy combination.

after the wine festival, i was so happy to have some wine in the house that i made some cookies. i was a little lazy after making the dough so i put it straight in the oven instead of chilling it down first. my laziness was serendipitous, as my cookies came out better than ever! even my bf, who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies, gave them a good compliment ;)

photo a day: morning. i'm a cereal whore. i keep a rotation of 4-6 boxes of cloying, kid-friendly cereal on deck at all times. i have yet to perfect keeping a full box/full milk carton ration though. i eat one hot breakfast a week, maybe... if i'm not in a cereal mood. my top faves are Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, and Cocoa Krispies. Honey Nut Cheerios, Captain Crunch, and Golden Grahams gets honorable mention, but don't ever serve me cereal with raisins or marshmallows in it. i'll cut you.

photo a day: empty. my sorority sister had a birthday potluck and we put in some work! i made my mac & cheese, since she liked it so much from my bday potluck, and i bought a bottle of Voület. It's a staple at our functions! try it out. it's a not too sweet Italian red wine with a bit of sparkle to it. great for parties and summer get togethers.

graduation day! if i'm honest with you, i was not looking forward to this day. graduations have been very anti-climatic in my experience. it's supposed to be a joyous occasion, then something happens and everything is ruined. someone has a bad attitude, doesn't feel like waiting, it's notoriously hot as hell... but i have to say, this was the best day ever! my family and friends really showed up, i actually enjoyed crossing the stage and was the first person in line, and the ceremony was really short and sweet. i enjoyed this day so much, i'm gonna post another picture!

these are some really pretty flowers, two bouquets of lilies. the white ones are from my father. the orange ones, my favorite, are from my boyfriend. i went out to lunch with my friends where i lavished over my accomplishments, the past, where we see our futures, and i opened my cards and cried. life was great right there over lunch eating cheap Chinese food, as it should always be.

went to the Caribbean Wine Fest Saturday with my sorority sisters. this sea of people... that was just the mosh pit! there were twice as many people in the tents surrounding it. there was food and music and wine/drinks galore. it was a blast and a great way to end the week (^_^)

juicy juice

my momma started my love affair with "the juices". at any given moment in time, there could be four different juice drinks in our fridge growing up... typically OJ, AJ, cranberry or grape, and a blend of some sort. see, i have a weird aversion to fresh fruit, but i eat a lot of veggies, so to get our fruit intake, we drank a lot of juice, taking care to pay attention to sugar content of course. my least favorite of the juices were the ones that came from packages or frozen concentrate. they never tasted fresh to me so i would dread walking over to the frozen juice section in the grocer. #thestruggle

whelp, i am struggling these days and dishing out damn near $4 for fresh juice is just not in the cards for me. but, while kicking sad rocks away from the Simply Apple the other day, i paused in front of that nostalgic Dole 100% Juice frozen concentrate section and gave it a grab. it was less than a dollar and i was juice starved. but, when i brought it back home, i was perplexed as to what i could do with it. the dreaded frozen juice memories haunted me and stymied my creativity, until serendipity, and my clumsiness, caused my herbal teas to fall onto my counter and a juice blend formulated itself in my mind. if i use it as an ingredient... duh duh duhnnuhhhh!

i chose Wild Sweet Orange Tazo tea. not only is it a great color, but i figured the lemongrass, ginger, and hibiscus flavors would play well with the pineapple concentrate. i've had this tea in my cupboard for a while, along with the Passion blend. i don't make them as often as i used to, but i might have to remedy that this summer...

first, i made a simple syrup with 1/2 cup of raw sugar and 3/4 cup of filtered water. i let it simmer for a bit until the sugar melted and it smelled faintly of caramel, which i also thought would bring a depth of flavor to the juice, instead of a cloying sugary background. agave nectar and honey might also work, but try think outside of the white sugar box.

then, i took four bags of the tea and put some water on to boil. i steeped them in 2 cups of boiling water for about 5 minutes until i got the right strength, which is indicated by the color... a nice deep orange, one of my favorite colors and the reason why i love this tea. should take no more than 5 minutes. steep any longer and it might go bitter.

i have a simple and cute 1-quart carafe into which i put half of the pineapple juice concentrate, followed by the brewed tea and topped it off with 2 cups of cold, filtered water to cool it down. finally, i topped it off with the 1/2 cup of simple syrup, but you can add more or less to your liking.

ta-da! juicy juice. just store in the fridge to completely cool it and let the flavors marry, but don't keep it longer than a couple of weeks. and, as with the case with frozen concentrate juice mixes, you must shake well before serving. serve it straight up or you could mix it with champagne, sparkling water, or ginger ale to really drive the herbal and complex flavors home. serve it with a great meal as i did here:

the exotic, fruity flavors paired well with homemade salmon hash i made for brunch. yum! this should make a perfect summertime drink and could pair well with any type of grilled meat or veggie salad. stay tuned for what else i have in store for the juice concentrate...

bitchin loft space. i love lofts. i almost lived in one, but most lofts in Baltimore have terrible views. but i love everything about this one, the wood flooring and beams with feature lights, the island range in the kitchen, the painted exposed brick, and the staircase. this is beautiful.

photo a day: something that makes me happy. this is about 20% of my family pigging out at IHOP, take up two tables and the booth. i love getting together with my family and feasting. it's the best time you'll ever have! the laughter and stories... it was just what i needed.

hello May! you're gorgeous! unfortunately, my apartment does not reflect that. my place is a wreck! so messy with clothes and dishes everywhere. *slaps wrist* but, this weekend is all about cleaning things up. my boyfriend is the catalyst, helping me by cleaning my kitchen. i'm off to do laundry at his place today, but first... week in photos time! enjoy (^_^)

photo a day: circle. for the past two weeks, i've ended these posts with food fun with my boyfriend. this week, i'm starting off there! we went to brunch and i finally, finally, finally filled my craving for chicken & waffles. it's been too long.

came across this butterfly on the concrete streets of Baltimore while i was headed to Starbucks. it must be lost. i know the feeling.

Saturday

took some leftover mashed potatoes and some leftover ground chicken and made spicy chicken potato fritters. with gravy. always with gravy.
