Unless…the spinoff series are a ploy and everyone dies?! Pick your side of the conspiracy. Join us as we wrap up what can best be described as not the worst season, but definitely not the best season of The Walking Dead.

1116 - Acts of God

Sun, 10 Apr 2022 13:00:00 +0000

Have you seen The Bourne Trilogy, All the President’s Men, and Prince of Egypt? If yes, you’ll see where the writers of The Walking Dead took inspiration from this season. The title of this episode is “Acts of God”, so aside from the cameo from Brood X, we’d like to know where these other acts are. Don’t miss the zombies biting at the gaps in the armor of Seal Team Sux with the same ferocity of your uncle eating a chicken wing at the family picnic.

Next week is the bonus episode of The Walking Dead season wrap where we’ll go through feedback from you. Last chance to send it in at watchingdead@baldmove.com before the show goes on hiatus.

The End

Thu, 26 Apr 2018 13:50:51 +0000

It’s been real, it’s been fun, hell, it’s even been real fun. But as we announced two weeks ago, we feel this is our time to exit from the series that helped found Bald Move, AMC’s The Walking Dead. This podcast is for you; the long time listener! Come take a stroll with us through memory lane, say your goodbyes, and hopefully meet again real soon on better shows with better podcasts. This episode is chock full of clips from the archives, old skits, and tons of memories both hilarious and cringe-worthy from the past. Until we meet again!

If you want to see A.Ron do Rick Grimes for THE Rick Grimes, here it is.

816 – Wrath

Tue, 17 Apr 2018 19:20:43 +0000

Jim and A.Ron put AMC’s The Walking Dead to rest at the end of it’s eighth season, with the finale episode “Wrath”. It’s not the worst episode of TWD, but it certainly isn’t a good one, and it ends on a puzzling conspiracy against Rick perpetrated by his closest friends. There are crazy character flip flops involving Morgan, Eugene, even Jesus and Daryl get caught up in it, and we say, enough. We’ll be back next week with a Podcast Fiesta Wrap Up Extravaganza with some of our fondest memories of the show, and this podcast we’ve been doing for the better part of a decade. Want in? Send us an email or hit up the rocking and rolling wrap up thread on our forums.

815 – Worth

Tue, 10 Apr 2018 18:30:27 +0000

Jim and A.Ron discuss the sadness that is an above average episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead that still can’t rise above the weight of the garbage it’s surrounded by. No offense, Jadis. For every half-decent book-end device, there is a terrible Gregory or Eugene scene. For every clever Negan canary trap, there are two seasons of his incompetence making him look like a fool. We’re tapping out. Next week will be the last episode of The Walking Dead that we cover. The week after, we’re ending the podcast in style, as we reminisce with our fellow fans about the show that was and that will never be. Favorite moments? Fondest memes? Best skits? Send us your thoughts and let’s do this send off right!

814 – Still Gotta Mean Something

Tue, 03 Apr 2018 18:30:35 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are here to, sort of backhandedly compliment the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead. It’s one of the better recent episodes, but the unfortunate thing is all of the moments and beats they come really close to nailing here are ones that have been so worn through mindless repetition to the point we’re incapable of feeling anything but boredom. But yeah, Andrew Lincoln, Denai Gurira, and Lenni James really know how to act, and work their professional asses off to sell this material. Oh, and Rat-Faced Jesus has a very satisfying character development. Just two episodes left! See you next week.

If you’d like to see Jim and I escape from prison together please watch us over at twitch.tv/baldmove, every Monday and Wednesday at 4pm EST. You can watch part one of the “A Way Out” saga right here.

813 – Do Not Send Us Astray

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 18:15:40 +0000

AMC’s The Walking Dead served up what A.Ron describes as a top 5 worst episode of all time in “Do Not Send Us Astray”. The show continues to find new lows in its regard for the audience’s intelligence, as they don’t even bother trying to plausibly setup any action set pieces or plot, it just kind of happens because reasons. We have at least five morgalizers at this point. Day turns to night turns to day and Maggie has been pregnant for like ten seasons now. There was a helicopter at some point? I think Father G. went blind earlier? The only thing I know is that we’ll be back for more next week. See you then.

812 – The Key

Mon, 19 Mar 2018 19:33:53 +0000

“The Key”, which is the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead continues to erode Negan’s aura of invincibility, as he can’t even keep Rick’s hands off his precious Lucille as he lurches from one insane and pathetic deal to the next. Simon’s had enough, and leads the rest of the Saviors off to war against the Hilltop. Meanwhile, Maggie makes a deal for The Key to the Future for a milk crate full of phonographic records, and Enid openly wonders if anything means anything anymore. You and me both, Enid. You and me both.

811 – Dead or Alive Or

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 18:50:00 +0000

“Dead or Alive Or” crash lands back to Earth after the pleasant surprise that was last episode, and there’s no “Jadis makes chunky beef chili” aspect to take your mind off things. It’s the saddest traveling road show you’ve ever seen starring Father Gabriel and Dr. Carson. It’s Carol and Morgan morgalize over a young boy’s soul. It’s Daryl losing control over his refugee group because of arguing about the loyalties of Dwight. And Maggie making hard decisions on the Hilltop, which is the most interesting thing about the episode and so of course serves as the “C” plot. Can we get a second helping of that Zombie chili, ya’ll?

A few things I wanted to link for your convenience… we discussed our Groundhog Day Marathon podcast, where our community raised over $10k for the National Alliance to End Homelessness in a typically ridiculous Bald Move way. Also, we’re streaming on Twitch! If you like us, and like video games, maybe you’ll like it? Shows currently start at 4pm EST on Monday and Friday.

810 – The Lost and the Plunderers

Tue, 06 Mar 2018 20:38:08 +0000

Jim is off traveling the world this week, but Nina Perez from Project Fandom joins the lonely A.Ron to talk about the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead which… isn’t half bad as far as these things go. Lots of Simon, an effective Rick vs Negan scene, and one of the most disgustingly awesome set pieces in all of The Walking Dead history combine to make for an entertaining episode. Sure, Rick’s back to being a loon, the garbage people are still garbage, and Oceanside has clearly lost their collective minds, but that’s why we said it’s “not half bad” instead of “pretty good”.

If you dig Nina, you can find her and her awesome crew over at Project Fandom covering basically all of television, movies, books, comic books, just all media in general. You can also follow her on Twitter, and check out her published books!

809 – Honor

Tue, 27 Feb 2018 20:01:25 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are here to say goodbye to Carl, and to have the debate about whether or not we should be saying goodbye in the first place. While acknowledging this is an above par episode of The Walking Dead by AMC Studios standards, it commits several offenses, chief among them the decision to undercut a fairly effective scene of a father and surrogate mother saying tearful goodbyes to their son with yet. More. Morgalizing. Everyone involved is too good for what they're doing, perhaps even including us, but we'll be here to continue to catalog the decline of a once great television empire.

Season 8b Preview!

Tue, 20 Feb 2018 19:56:45 +0000

Jim and I will be back for the back half of season 8 of AMC's The Walking Dead. Whether that is exciting or depressing is very much up to the individual, but it's a fact, so today we're previewing the next 8 episodes. What do we think about Gimple's promotion? Is Carl really going to die? What did we think of the pre-season trailers and marketing? And who lives and who dies this season? We contemplate all this and more. See you Sunday night for the LiveWatch!

Season 8a Wrapup

Tue, 19 Dec 2017 20:50:29 +0000

Season 8 of The Walking Dead is finally over and we're doing a wrapup podcast to commiserate with the fans who have hung in there. Thanks to everyone who has been listening and supporting us for the past 6 years of coverage. We'll have some more information on the future of Walking Dead at Bald Move in early 2018. Stay tuned.

808 – How It’s Gotta Be

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 20:50:04 +0000

It feels like we're at a big crossroads here for our relationship with AMC's The Walking Dead, as we watch "How It's Gotta Be". What do you do with a show you don't really enjoy watching when it eliminates one of the biggest reasons you've been watching it, and you have no real hope for improvement? Honestly, we don't know, we're going to have to do a lot of off season soul searching to decide what form our coverage is going to take going forward. We'll be coming back next week for a mid-season wrap up if you got more things you need to get off your chest. We'll see what happens from there.

807 – Time for After

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 20:50:30 +0000

AMC's The Walking Dead presents for us a perfect storm of mullet, trash people, rapid onset morgalizing, and terrible action sequences. Except in the actual perfect storm it was two terrible things coming together to make a larger terrible thing, and in "Time for After" it's four. Regardless, George Clooney and Marky Mark ain't making it out alive. The question Jim and I are left with is, do we go down with the ship? Or accept coast guard rescue? Honestly, I've kind of lost the metaphor at this point, but if Gimple can do it, so can I!

806 – The King, The Widow and Rick

Tue, 28 Nov 2017 20:50:06 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are not sure whether to laugh or cry with the latest from AMC's The Walking Dead, "The King, The Widow, and Rick". On the one hand, this is a garbage show, now populated with literally, for real, garbage people. On the other hand, Rosita vaporized a guy with a rocket launcher. In a warehouse. From 30 feet away. That's garbage, but it's funny garbage. We break down this fiasco as per usual with supporting fire from our fellow fans in the feedback section.

805 – The Big Scary U

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 21:50:57 +0000

On this episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, "The Big Scary U", Gabriel hears Negan's confession, Rick and possibly a live wildcat standing in for Daryl hit a rough patch while debating the meaning of "All Out War", while the Council of Idiots decides what to do in the absence of their Dear Leader. And feedback. And a bit of spoiler section! Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Americans, and we'll see you and the rest of the world next week!

804 – Some Guy

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 20:50:28 +0000

A.Ron and Jim praise and rip this episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, "Some Guy". We dug a lot of the high concept medieval horror going on, and if nothing else, Ezekiel is a particularly interesting personality to mine pathos out of in this worn out zombie apocalypse we're stuck in. AND YET WE SMILE! Because those car chases were right out of 80's action / comedy, Carol was kicking Savior butt and taking names, until the tragic and outrageous death of a beloved character. Then, feedback! See you next week...

803 – Monsters

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 20:50:07 +0000

A.Ron has lost his mind in Morgan fashion, coming out in favor of this episode, but just because he's not right, that don't make him wrong. Jim decries the heavy handed Morgalizing and shoddily constructed action, and then, just when we're at our darkest hour, Guy Ferrari arrives to save the podcast.

802 – The Damned

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 19:50:50 +0000

Jim and A.Ron decry the debacle that was the latest episode of The Walking Dead, "The Damned". If you liked the episode, I'm happy for you. But this is us explaining why we didn't. There was a lot of action, but it had not context, and even if it did, a surprising amount was staged and executed so poorly you couldn't tell if the good guys were winning or losing, even if you knew the objective. Worse, the rampant Morgalizing of seasons past has returned in a big way. This time, they're hand wringing about what kind of people they're going to be in the middle of heated gun fights to make it even more annoying. Ya'll, we're desperately hunkered down behind an armored car here, taking fire, waiting for a genuinely good episode to shamble over this season. Maybe next week?

801 – Mercy

Tue, 24 Oct 2017 19:50:20 +0000

A.Ron and Jim are a bit divided on this episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, "Mercy". "Mercy" seems to be the dominant theme of this season, with Rick's warpath sharply contrasted to Carl's desire for hope and open handedness. Lots of butt gets kicked this episode, surprisingly the majority of the butt kicked consists of glass panes and not Saviors or zombies. And there are a few head scratching flash forwards/backs/sideways. But just look at that sweet shot of Daryl blowing up stuff real good!

Season 8 Preview

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 15:20:44 +0000

Jim and A.Ron look ahead to season 8 of The Walking Dead! We discuss our thoughts on the promo materials, the legal bombshells that dropped over the spring/summer break, and finally we get spoilery discussing the comic book version of the “All Out War” storyline at the end of the pod. See you this weekend!…

Season 7 Wrap Up!

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 20:50:47 +0000

Jim and A.Ron say goodbye once again to AMC's The Walking Dead, but first, we have some things to get off our chest and a ton of feedback from our fellow fans to share. What lane does the Dead need to stay in? How long can it last? How big a star is Andrew Lincoln, anyway? Will the War with Negan last 8 episodes, or 16? Just how many episodes of Trash People backstory will we be inflicted with? Should Gimple and company just let Heath go? All this and more will be discussed!

716 – The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Mon, 03 Apr 2017 21:40:19 +0000

by The Walking Dead's season 7 finale, "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life". Well staged action and CGI stunt tigers get the pulse pounding, but it's not long before well worn bad habits start to get in the way; a convoluted plot by Negan to once again impress upon Rick that resistance is futile, literal Garbage People, and Sasha's "I'll save you from the situation I helped create" heroics, all these unfortunately mire the proceedings. But that's not our last work on the subject. We'll be back later this week to wrap up the season, so get your email in before Thursday if you want to be heard!

715 – Something They Need

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 21:00:58 +0000

A decent episode of AMC's The Walking Dead nevertheless provokes a bunch of questions regarding "Something They Need". Is Rick's group really justified in their "take no prisoners, take all guns" approach with Seaside? Has Eugene really turned turncoat? Is Gregory Negan's "little bird"? Why can't Grandma McGee pull a gun on somebody proper like? And does Rick know that a man is at his most dangerous when he's on his knees? Dwight knows. He's been to the School of Eugene's Nut Cracker, and shouldn't be taken lightly when he's at crotch level. Be careful, Rick, is all we're saying.

714 – The Other Side

Mon, 20 Mar 2017 21:50:10 +0000

Jim and A.Ron watched the latest episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, "The Other Side", and then immediately crawled through a wood pile and launched an assault on the episode. First we tried sniping, but then we went in for a frontal assault. I promised to watch Jim's back, and then betrayed him to his chagrin at the end. As always, Eugene, excuse me, Chief Engineer Dr. Eugene, was useless. Listen in for all this, some feedback, and yours truly holding court in the Spoiler Section!

713 – Bury Me Here

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 21:10:55 +0000

Jim and A.Ron agree that AMC's The Walking Dead delivered an entertaining episode with "Bury Me Here", but maybe not for the reason we were supposed to. Hilariously bad premises, unbelievable payoffs to trivial moments, characters getting massive backstory dumps before being unceremoniously bumped off... it's a pretty full "Bad Walking Dead Bingo" card. But hey, an end to the era of rampant Morgalizing, so that's something!

712 – Say Yes

Mon, 06 Mar 2017 22:50:49 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are reasonably pleased with the latest episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, "Say Yes". After many long years, TWD finally found a way to have a philosophical argument about "why we fight" and "what' it's like out there" and "this is the way the world works" that doesn't actually involve any of those words, and inserts a few new ones, "hope" and "future". The fact that it goes down between Rick and Michonne, characters with chemistry that we actually care about, makes it that much sweeter. But then there's some dodgy action, and that whole mess with Rosita, and literal garbage people, and you know? Our feelings are complicated.

711 – Hostiles and Calamities

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 22:50:58 +0000

Jim and A.Ron point and laugh at poor Eugene in the latest episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, "Hostiles and Calamities". Eugene fails at lobster, succeeds at Yar's Revenge, blows up some balloons, puts on a wiz bang science show, and ultimate turns into the bad guy? Yeah right, we'll believe it when we see it. Meanwhile, Dwight reaches the sad boring conclusion of the Dwight/Sherry saga that began way back in episode 606, "Always Accountable". Also, A.Ron vents his spleen about Eugene's direction in the Spoiler Section tucked safely away at the very end of the show.

710 – New Best Friends

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 22:50:29 +0000

Jim and A.Ron slog through a mess of a Star Trek: The Next Generation inspired episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, as Rick negotiates a complicated treaty with the Romulan sub-commander of a garbage world. There's some good stuff too; some emotional punch with Daryl and Carol, some nuanced Morgalizing from Morgan, and a "have to see it to believe it" Mad Max / Lord of the Rings inspired zombie pit fight sequence. Maybe that's how TWD is going to roll going forward, pilfering from better sci-fi/fantasty tales? If so, I'm really looking forward to Battle of the Blackwater, or ooh, maybe the Red Weddding episodes!

709 – Rock in the Road

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 21:45:55 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are back to further chronicle the legendary journeys of one Rick Grimes and his merry band of post apocalyptic crazies. This week, we consider "A Rock in the Road", which we found to be an amazing episode in terms of epic clothes lines, and considerably less so when judging by its titular morality tale. Speaking of morality, there is some rampant Morgalizing in this episode. But we get just the right amount of Negan. All this plus explosions and fan feedback!

Mid-Season 7 Wrapup

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 02:49:14 +0000

The first half of season 7 wasn't exactly what we hoped for but it should have been what we expected. We dip into the feedbag one more time for the year to consider what we've seen and what's to come. We'll be back in February in some capacity so until then, enjoy your holiday and have a great 2017!

708 – Hearts Still Beating

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 22:40:33 +0000

AMC's The Walking Dead entered it's mid-season hiatus last night with the episode, "Hearts Still Beating", which had Jim and A.Ron asking if their hearts were still stirred by the drama on screen. Your mileage may vary, but we found it doing just enough to make up for the missteps this season, and promising just enough up tempo pacing that we're, knock on wood, excited for it's return in February? That maybe losing more than a 1/3rd of it's audience in a season will scare the creative and studio types enough to stop dicking around and get serious about bringing this show to some sort of satisfying conclusion. In addition, we talk about mysterious boot person, the reunion of one of television's most potent bromances, express concern for Maggie's ripped uterus, and show mock concern about the show's latest shocking death.

707 – Sing Me A Song

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 22:30:31 +0000

A.Ron and Jim are pleased to note that "Sing Me A Song" is an improved, if far from perfect episode of The Walking Dead. We discuss invisible Jesus, Carl being gun shy, Rosita being unreasonable and Eugene proving her claims of cowardice true, Spencer's Latin studies finally paying off, and Rick and Aaron up to something awesome that unfortunately we'll have to wait until next week to actually see. All this and a ton of feedback, coming your way!

706 – Swear

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 22:30:33 +0000

Jim and A.Ron wonder if it's all worth it anymore after seeing a historically bad episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, number 706, "Swear". Aside from being the dreaded single POV focus episode featuring a second-tier character, so much of this made no sense and seemed pointless. From the zombie action sequences involving improbable combinations of dump trucks and sand, to the 538th, 539th, and 540th time we've heard one character bemoan the degradation of humanity to another, to questionable directorial and editing decisions, a lot of time and effort was spent to tell us of the existence of a community with an axe to grind against the Saviors that is heavily armed but suffering a shortage of effective warriors. Gee, where ever could we find a place that is disarmed with a crew of killers with itchy trigger fingers? We're just one broken promise away from getting that creamy peanut butter inside that chocolate folks. Oh, and Heath has gone missing. "PPP" is somehow involved. And Tara has some weird tattoo. And we have feedback! Is this thing on? Is anyone still listening?! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE OUT THERE! THEY AIN'T US! HERE'S NOT HERE!

705 – Go Getters

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 22:14:11 +0000

Carl and Enid rolling down the street! S-K-A-T-I-N-G! Sure, we all loved Richonne, but step aside, there's a new hot apocalyptic romance in Alexandria: Carnid. Or Earl? Whatever, it was cute, and fun, and gives Carl a new angle to work besides the increasingly silly hair and hat routine. What else? Oh, Maggie is a boss, of course, tractors are employed in unusual circumstances, Gregory is literally The Worst, Michonne struggles to adapt to a post-Negan world, and the biggest surprise of them all; The Walking Dead writer's staff deftly juggling no less than three separate plots in a single episode! All of this and more are discussed, including emails from your fellow fans.

704 – Service

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 22:30:26 +0000

Jim and A.Ron rap about AMC's The Walking Dead episode 704, "Service", and in keeping with the episode title, we're thinking of stiffing the Gimple and company on their tip. The maniacal focus on single plot line story telling is doing real damage, not just to the pacing, but to their otherwise solid and memorable attempts at characterization with Negan and Dwight. Also, WHERE IS TARA AND HEATH?! Did they run into the crew of the S.S. Minnow and decide to take the three hour tour? On a positive note, the show has us really howling for Negan and his Savior's heads, which is presumably something the show wants us to feel. Mission accomplished. All this and much more including feedback from our fellow fans coming right up!

703 – The Cell

Mon, 07 Nov 2016 23:30:52 +0000

A return to form for AMC's The Walking Dead in episode 703, "The Cell". And that's not necessarily a good thing. We discuss turd sandwiches, mysterious motorcycle mishaps, Negan's lose definition of "consent", the internal politics of the Negan compound, and much, much more. Plus, we consider a bunch of feedback.

702 – The Well

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 22:50:40 +0000

Jim and A.Rron dig Ezekiel and his wookie co-pilot, Shiva, mostly because it turns out, he's not crazy. Or at least not that crazy, and mostly in the fun way. Not only did episode 702, "The Well", effectively introduce "The Kingdom", but offers topics such as cobbler gobblers, Ben failing at life, our disdain for the anti-christ, and we cover lots of feedback.

701 – The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 21:33:09 +0000

The Walking Dead comes back with season 7's premiere, "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be". Did they do enough to win back fans from last season's disastrous cliffhanger? They guys are somewhat divided on their opinions on that score, as are our fans. Jeffery Dean Morgan and Andrew Lincoln are amazing, but can ?TWD? curb it's worst instincts and put their collective pedals to the metal, and keep the momentum they've managed to build? We'll find out together!

Season Seven Preview

Tue, 18 Oct 2016 01:41:18 +0000

A.Ron and Jim try to puzzle out the big "mystery" from last season; who does Negan beat the ever-loving piss out of? We use clues from the previews to try to figure it out, before giving our own predictions and a bit of comic speculation in our spoiler section. We'll be back next Monday with our full coverage of the premiere episode!

Season Six Wrap Up

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 19:32:14 +0000

You all had a lot to say about the finale of season six of The Walking Dead, and about the season as a whole. So we're back for a final week to air more grievances, mount some defenses, psychoanalyze show runners, and make some predictions about the year to come. Thanks for listening! We'll see you back in the Fall...

616 – Last Day on Earth

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 19:50:08 +0000

Jim and A.Ron struggle to comprehend and understand the bizarre cliffhanger choice of the season six finale of The Walking Dead, "Last Day on Earth". But to be honest, the problems don't begin and end there. Which is not to say there's not good stuff; Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan was awesomely... Negan. There was some genuine suspense and dread built as our RV full of heroes slowly felt the noose tighten around their neck. And then this tension was let out as artfully as a air out a whoopee cushion because, lest you forget, this is The Walking Dead.

615 – East

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 19:14:28 +0000

Welcome to another AWESOME episode of The Walking Dead, "East"! In which 75% of Alexandria's fighting force leaves the city for totally justifiable reasons, Dwight introduces us to the innovative "froggy style" firearms technique, Rick and Morgan debate causality, Carol hyperventilates her way to another flawless victory, Maggie eases into motherhood with the help of a jar of pickles and a fresh 'cut, and pretty much everyone gets taken hostage. Tune in next week for the THRILLING conclusion! Which will probably be a CLIFFHANGER! But still!!!

614 – Twice As Far

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 19:52:47 +0000

The Walking Dead episode 614, "Twice As Far" takes a few strange character turns, before it jumps tracks and barrels out of control straight into Awesomeville Station. We discuss questionable decisions made while babysitting the town's medic, Eugene's admirable wearing of proper pants and brilliant strategy for Alexandria's defense and trade, Carol tragically falling victim to "Morgalizing", the shocking return of Daryl's crossbow, and the bite heard 'round the world. All this, plus tons of feedback and our spoiler section for all your prognosticating needs. See you next week!

613 – The Same Boat

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 19:25:36 +0000

It's fair to say that neither Jim nor A.Ron was under or overwhelmed by this episode, number 613, "The Same Boat". Thus properly whelmed, we discuss the themes of the episode, including Carol's sudden (?) change of heart with regards to her ruthlessness and apparent callous disregard for life, Maggie's maternal nature, how we feel about the Saviors now that we've seen a slightly softer side, and Carol and Maggie's innovating combination of slaughterhouse and barbecue. All this, tons of feedback, and a healthy spoiler section at the very end of the episode await your listening pleasure.

612 – Not Tomorrow Yet

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 20:50:02 +0000

The Walking Dead has strung together three pretty great episodes in a row! Jim and A.Ron could not be happier with this turn of events, as we tuck into episode 612, "Not Tomorrow Yet". We discuss the horror of acorn/beet cookies, the appropriate time and place for Morgalizing, the unlikely relationship of Tobin and Carol, how not to break up with your post-apocalyptic girlfriend, and some general geeking out at the intense, well filmed action of this episode. All this plus tons of feedback and lots of spoiler section analyzing, coming at you faster than the break of dawn.

611 – Knots Untie

Mon, 29 Feb 2016 20:30:13 +0000

We're not sure what got untied in last night's episode of The Walking Dead, "Knots Untie", but nevertheless it was another pretty good episode that clearly and confidently moved the action forward as it gave more depth and color to characters that sorely needed it. Join us for a discussion of crops, creepy leaders, the wisdom of post apocalyptic procreation, tons of feedback, and a healthy spoiler section after the outro music.

610 – The Next World

Mon, 22 Feb 2016 21:00:35 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are relieved to find that they can still enjoy a legitimately good episode of The Walking Dead. This one had it all, tight writing, characters with rich back stories and interconnected personal history interacting in believable and relate-able ways, humor, family, competent and professional directing, the works. Not to mention a development we've been anticipating for about 3 years now. Yes, it was the elusive feel good episode of The Walking Dead, and we frankly gush about it. Join us for a discussion of soda pop, post-apocalyptic teenage angst, finding love in all the right places, and just tons and tons of Messianic puns. Plus, great feedback from the listeners, and a speculative spoiler section, safely tucked away behind our trademark wall of outro music.

609 – No Way Out

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 21:00:35 +0000

Last night's The Walking Dead had a lot of moments of genuine tension and real stakes, but it also had a lot of continuity errors and puzzling directorial and editing choices. Which is too bad because it's central gasp inducing moment was a real bomb. We discuss some potential future story angles featuring Michonne's guilt and some fresh juice in the Morgan/Carol arc what with Denise's new found appreciation for the malleable nature of Wolves and question how Carl will fit in to Rick's New World Order, and how the mysterious Kneegan could possibly threaten it all. All this, some great feedback, and a thoughtful spoiler section, coming at you!

Mid-Season 6 Preview

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 22:45:01 +0000

We're back to discuss the new seasons and some changes to our coverage going forward. The Instant Cast is out, in favor of an accelerated Monday full podcast. But that's not all, as we discuss reasons to be cautiously optimistic about the new season, as well as reasons to fear. And we get fired up over some recent revelations about Frank Darabont's departure from TWD way back in season two. It explains a lot of what's had us scratching our heads over the past few years. All this, plus some casting news and plot detail discussions in our clearly marked Spoiler Section, and feedback from our readers. See you all back Sunday for the premiere!

Mid-Season 6 Wrap Up

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 22:57:32 +0000

From the promising start, The Walking Dead tripped and fell it's way towards a disappointing first half of season six. WTF is the problem? Can they recover? Should we care any more? All these questions and more are pondered by Jim and A.Ron with our fellow fans. Regardless of where we're at now, we WILL be back for the back half of season six, rain or shine, and hopefully you'll be there with us.

608 – Start to Finish

Tue, 01 Dec 2015 21:10:45 +0000

The Walking Dead schleps it's way to a mid-season finale, "Start to Finish", and we're right beside it, covered in guts, shambling right along. Unfortunately the mid-season finale was kind of blah. It wasn't especially good, and it wasn't especially bad, but in the context of wrapping things up for a long hiatus, that means it's not doing it's job. Lots of monologing about ideas we don't care much about between characters we're not interested, a few really fantastic pieces of writing and performance for Deanna that are undermined by how we feel going into the episode about the character, and more sloppily staged action and set pieces. But, we're not done! We'll be back next week to wrap things up and try to generate some excitement for the next half. Hopefully you'll help out. Send us your predictions, thoughts, complaints, praises, and spoilers and we'll talk about them next Tuesday!

608 – Start to Finish – Instant Take

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 03:45:15 +0000

Jim and A.Ron give their off the cuff opinions and thoughts about the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, "Start to Finish".

607 – Heads Up

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 21:00:05 +0000

A.Ron and Jim come, not to bury Glenn on The Walking Dead episode 607, "Heads Up", but to pull him out from the dumpster and resurrect him... So yeah, maybe that wasn't as bad as it could have been, or maybe we've just spent four weeks accepting the fact that this just wasn't going to end in a way that made sense or paid respect to the character or our devotion as fans, who knows. We commit to addressing it and then honor the not-dead by moving forward and living our lives. We talk about that, a little Morgalizing round table action with Rick, Michonne, and Carol, ponder the different directions Rick and Carol's personal ethos are heading, what disaster Ron's gun training is going to lead to, and debate the verisimilitude of CGI balloons. All that, a ton of feedback from all ya'll, and we'll see you back this weekend for the mid-season finale!

607 – Heads Up – Instant Take

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 04:00:32 +0000

So, we got some clarity on a Big Event that happened Earlier This Season with tonight's episode of The Walking Dead, "Heads up"... Obviously that's a lot to talk about, but we also have some moral philosophy debates between Morgan, Rick, Carol, and others, with Carol possibly getting some remorse for the way she's rolled since infection ran wild in the prison. Should she? Michonne has some thoughts on Deanna's "Barly == Intellect" plans, but we aren't privy to them. Gabriel's running a G.D. prayer circle out by the solar panels, and his faith is rewarded with... green balloons. What did you think? Use the links below to send them in and we might just read them on our full coverage cast Tuesday.

606 – Always Accountable

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 20:30:55 +0000

Jim and A.Ron want to hold someone "Always Accountable" for what is, on the surface, a serviceable enough episode of The Walking Dead, but becomes on reflection, a tedious seeming waste of time for us the viewers. Daryl loses his bike and his 'bow, Abraham gets some new threads and a new plan for life, and Sasha gets a walrus mustached possibly recovering death jockey for a boyfriend. Along the way, there's forest fires, melted zombies, Cherokee roses, improbably diabetics, and a truck named Patty. All this and plenty of feedback, in a fairly dispirited podcast. We'll hope for better this weekend, and either way, we'll see you then.

606 – Always Accountable – Instant Take

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 03:30:34 +0000

Jim and A.Ron have seen episode 606, "Always Accountable" of The Walking Dead. Of that fact we are certain. We're more fuzzy about the who, what and where of "Accountable". But we're crystal clear that the concept of Abraham possessing RPG's is going to be pretty epic one of these days. I mean, look at what Carol did with a bottle rocket back at Terminus. Anyway, use the links below to get in touch and we'll see you back here Tuesday for our full coverage podcast!

605 – Now

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 21:25:16 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are divided about their opinions on episode 605 of The Walking Dead, "Now". One host thinks it was a basically good episode with a few peculiar TWD tics dragging the overall goodness down, while the other disliked the majority of the episode despite it having a few bright parts. Which host had which opinion may surprise you...

605 – Now – Instant Take

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 03:40:31 +0000

Jim and A.Ron have some off the cuff thoughts and observations, an "Instant Take", if you will, of episode 605 of The Walking Dead, "Now". From manic city planning of hope, to entitled pantry raiding of despair, we have all of the emotional and factual angles covered as deep as one watch and 15 minutes will get us. We'll be back Tuesday with our full coverage cast with loads more and tons of feedback. See you then!

604 – Here’s Not Here

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 20:55:30 +0000

Jim and A.Ron have had a few days to ponder the Morgan-centric episode of The Walking Dead, "Here's Not Here", and while it still suffers from some conceptual flaws and it's unfortunate place in the meta-narrative, there is still a lot to like here... We discuss the finer points of goat milking, the zeal and desperation of the newly converted, the problems of an "all life is precious" worldview during a zombie apocalypse, ponder Eastman's Goo-goo Cluster supply as well as his possible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle connections, and consider a metric ton of feedback. See you next week!

604 – Here’s Not Here – Instant Take

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 04:00:33 +0000

Episode 604 of The Walking Dead, "Here's Not Here", seems like at least an above average episode, featuring superior acting from the two leads as well as a reasonably interesting and satisfying backstory to Morgan's otherwise inexplicable "all life is precious" philosophy. But the problem is, Glen just got killed and Rick has one foot in the grave, the other on the doorstep of a crappy run down RV, and that has a way of making 90 minutes of good television seem tedious. That's our first impression, what's yours? Let us know using the links below, and we'll regroup here Tuesday to sort it all out.

603 – Thank You

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 23:05:58 +0000

So, if you're not in the mood for a hate-cast on the fiasco of an episode that is The Walking Dead #603, "Thank You", it might be wise to bail now, and we'll see you next week. If you're angry and confused and looking to tear into the guts of "Thank You" like a herd of hungry zombies -- well friend, you've come to the right place. Jim and A.Ron rail against the frankly inexcusable and inexplicable jerking around The Walking Dead production team has been inflicting upon it's audience for the last 48 hours. To say nothing of the strangely detached sense of geography and space, the tedious battle between the pragmatic veterans of Rick's team and the naive idiots of Alexandria, the lazily crafted action sequences, the massive location oversights, the casual throwing away of of potentially interesting character arcs and developments just for shock value that they've been steadily undermining since the moment the episode finished airing. It's infuriating. Hopefully, next week will be better, because, hey, Lennie James. See you then!

603 – “Thank You” – Instant Cast

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 04:32:27 +0000

Sorry for the delay, we’ve been experiencing technical difficulties with the website this evening, but! We did see episode 603 of The Walking Dead, “Thank You”, and have a lot of mixed feelings about it. It just, I dunno, feels unreal, doesn’t it? So, yeah, we talk about the Big Event that Happened, as well…

602 – “JSS”

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 22:50:13 +0000

Jim and A.Ron must confess that they continue to be impressed with the storytelling and action on The Walking Dead. This week we're taking on episode 602, "JSS"... We discuss Carol's upcoming cooking show, Enid's torturous path towards her personal survival motto, Morgan's incessant Morgalizing, Carl's complicated feelings, and Jessie's surprising emergence as a survivor. All this, ton's of your feedback, and few fun surprises along the way.

602 – JSS – Instant Take

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 02:30:26 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are continuing to groove on The Walking Dead's sixth season, with the newest episode "JSS". Some minor quibbles with the rampant Morgalizing going on, we thoroughly enjoyed Bat-Carol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Morgan, Jesse completely destroying A.Ron's "not a survivor" theory, and the general chaos and pandemonium this episode brought. We'll be back with full coverage Tuesday, but until then use the links below to tell us what you're thinking!

601 – First Time Again

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 20:25:05 +0000

The (Real) Walking Dead makes a confident return with episode 601, "First Time Again". We get sane Morgan, just-the-right-amount-of-crazy Rick, and thousands upon thousands of walkers. What can go wrong? Not much, as it turns out. An experiment with B&W photography could have been yet another failed attempt at artistry beyond their reach turned into a vital grounding technique to keep us in sync with an ever shifting time line, and those shifts did a heroes work plastering over some of the plot holes and inconsistencies of the main plot, while also showing important character shifts in interesting ways. And hey, zombies. Lots and lots of visually interesting, disgusting, soft headed zombies.

601 – First Time Again – Instant Take

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 03:00:20 +0000

The (Original Recipe) Walking Dead returns tonight with episode 601, "First Time Again", and we're relieved that it was actually pretty good! Packed with zombie action, rube goldberg-esque zombie herd management, and superior performances by Lennie James and Andrew Lincoln, it kept us entertained throughout the 1:30 run time. What did you think? Tell us using the links below, and we'll be back Tuesday for our full coverage cast!

Season Five Wrap Up

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 19:18:09 +0000

Jim and A.Ron sign off on The Walking Dead until next October... Death prediction updates, a deep dive on PTSD, some critiques and defenses of Father Gabriel, tons of feedback, some April Fool's debunking in the spoiler section, and much, much more. See you next fall!

516 – “Conquer”

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 21:40:12 +0000

While it wasn't the perfect finale, Jim and A.Ron are liking where we leave our group for the season in the plus-sized podcast for the super-sized episode 516 of The Walking Dead, "Conquer"... We discuss Ricktatorship 2.0, the continued rise of the Caroligarchy, the puzzling degradation of the skill set of one Daryl "Master Tracker" Dixon, what to make of these Wolves on our borders, the rediscovery of one Teenage Morgan Ninja Turtle, and wonder if sunsets work differently on the East Coast and just how big is Alexandria, anyway? All this, and just tons of great feedback, coming your way. And we're not ready to close the books on the season just yet! Come back next week for our season five wrap up!

516i – “Conquer” Instant Take

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 03:10:50 +0000

Jim and A.Ron enjoyed a perfectly satisfying season five finale of The Walking Dead, episode 516 entitled, "Conquer", and although it wasn't as crazy as we had hoped, it laid a very nice foundation for next year... Hear our off the cuff observations and opinions, and then use these links to give us yours! We'll be back for the full cast Tuesday!

515 – “Try”

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 21:03:27 +0000

We discuss rationing booze, the complete lack of any sort of follow through or effect on Deanna's "no guns, no going outside" policy, Glenn's righteous setting straight of Dickolous, Rick's "no", gobs and gobs of feedback, and a robust spoiler section contained by our cold rolled steel wall of outro music. Can't wait to see if they cap off a rather successful mini-arc with a pulse pumping season finale next week! See you then!

515 – “Try” – Instant Take

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 02:45:15 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are still digging what The Walking Dead is putting on, albeit with some reservations with what they're doing with Rick's and Sasha's character...

514 – “Spend”

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 20:17:27 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are on a roll with The Walking Dead, loving episode 514, "Spend". Can TWD keep the streak alive for the final two episodes?

514 – “Spend” – Instant Take

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 02:46:53 +0000

Jim and A.Ron were loving the extreme zombie carnage and credible character threats on display on this episode 514 of The Walking Dead, "Spend". But what did you think? Hit us up on the links below and let us know!

513 – “Forget”

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 23:35:48 +0000

The Walking Dead is on something of a roll with episode 513, entitled "Forget". Jim and A.Ron continue to be entertained as our group of borderline psychopaths try to integrate into civil society, with sometimes hilarious, sometimes horrific consequences. This episode we discuss serious spaghetti, Carol putting the fear of Carol into poor Sam, Rick's hungry eyes, being bored to tears with Jesse's post-apocalyptic life speech, Abraham's life, and Michonne hanging up the old katana among many other topics. All this, a mind bending amount of feedback, and a lively spoiler section await behind the cold rolled bars of our theme music.

513 – “Forget” – Instant Take

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 02:36:25 +0000

Things got crazy in this episode 513 of AMC's The Walking Dead, "Forget". And by things we mean Sasha and Carol and by crazy be mean full on, house screaming, child scarring insane. In a good, and fun kind of way, of course. We talk about Rick's half measures kiss, Daryl the Horse Whisperer, Aron the Daryl Whisperer, and the surprising lack of Trumpface drama in the episode. Can't wait to hear what you all thought of it. See you back Tuesday!

512 – “Remember”

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 20:33:00 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are digging the promise of a new direction in episode 512 of The Walking Dead, entitled "Remember"... In this podcast we discuss Stealth Possum, the underwhelming cold rolled steel fences of Alexandria, Undercover Carol, stupid teenager plots, ROTC-candy @$$es, and feral Daryl's difficulty in fitting in. All this plus your great feedback AND a extra sized spoiler edition.

511 – “The Distance”

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 22:19:09 +0000

Welcome to our coverage of The Walking Dead episode 511, "The Distance". A fine episode, most exciting due to the fact that we arrive at an intriguing new location with the hope of intriguing new characters, heroes, and villains to get to know and new situations and scenarios to explore. But, much like a darkened route 23 at night, we hit a few bumps on the way. Applesauce, broken ankles, a recalcitrant Rick, a zero turning radius RV, and broken shell acorn paste. Alls well that ends well, and five seasons in, we are once again stoked for the potential of The Walking Dead again. Lord, what fools these podcasters be.

511 – “The Distance” – Instant Take

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 03:49:24 +0000

A.Ron and Jim weren't impressed with the tenth outing of season five of The Walking Dead, "Them". It was slow, slogging through well worn territory of dealing with loss and grief and acceptance of the way the world is rather than the way the world should be. On the other hand, we got some cool zombie kung-fu via a nifty bridge sequence, and somebody finally told Gabriel to shut the EFF up already, so there's that. What did you think! Tell us, because the full cast is coming out Tuesday and you just might get on the air!

Episode 501 of The Walking Dead, “No Sanctuary” got the season off to a great start. Fri, 11 Apr 2014 01:45:48 +0000

416 – “A”

Wed, 02 Apr 2014 02:18:56 +0000

Wow! I know it left some people cold, but for our money, The Walking Dead season four finale, "A", was firing on almost all cylinders. 412 – “Still” – Instant Take

Mon, 03 Mar 2014 03:43:41 +0000

Instant cast for episode 412 of The Walking Dead, entitled, “Still”, where the teenage alcohol virgins can drink white lighting with impunity, the sexual tension is non-existent, and the character development at the end is… probably worth the other 30 minutes of treadmill television? Your mileage may vary, it will be interesting to hear what…

411 – “Claimed”

Wed, 26 Feb 2014 06:52:25 +0000

The Walking Dead got around to doing what The Walking Dead does best, which is create dread, tension, and horror in it's episode 411, "Claimed". 410 – “Inmates”

Wed, 19 Feb 2014 04:36:09 +0000

Here at Bald Move, we don't just say, "this show sucks" when we think a show eats say, multiple bags of dicks. No, sir! We lay out the case for it, introduce our evidence, make our closing remarks, and let you, the audience decide. In this cast, A.Ron apologizes for some hasty comments made in the heat of passion, we praise Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohen, talk about some plot points that we're enjoying and some others they're setting up that we look forward to, and then we talk about the stuff we didn't like, at pretty great length. Tyrese's babysitting skills, Glenn's future as an NFL runningback, Bob'Angelo's shit-eating grin, Beth's diary, dead rabbits, and much more. We consider feedback, and then engage in a bit of light comic book type spoilers, and mentally prepare to wipe the slate clean and hope for greener pastures next week!

410 – “Inmates” – Instant Take

Mon, 17 Feb 2014 03:53:15 +0000

Things that were good about this episode: Steven Yeun’s performance. Glenn armoring up and rolling on out. Lil’ Asskicker being not dead. Daryl kicking ass pre-credits. Maggie’s desperate search for Glenn IF and ONLY IF you hadn’t seen any previews or teasers. Everything else was pretty terrible. Hopefully, Abraham pulling up in his deuce and…

409 – “After”

Wed, 12 Feb 2014 04:09:35 +0000

In this episode 409 of AMC's The Walking Dead, "After", Carl Jr. becomes a man. Do I have to call him Carl Sr. now? Join me and Jim as we ponder this and other points such as Michonne's scream, Rick's zombie acting workshop, eating a truly improbable amount of chocolate pudding, post-apocalyptic shoe selection, and the wisdom of turning down free hot sauce. Mid-Season 4.0 Wrap Up

Wed, 11 Dec 2013 03:29:33 +0000

It was the best of seasons (Internment), it was the worst of seasons (Dead Weight), but while it ended on a very bleak note for our survivors, it nevertheless was a positive and hopeful way to end things from a storytelling and general quality standpoint. Jim and A.Ron are willing to give the Gimple a…

408 – “Too Far Gone” – Instant Take

Mon, 02 Dec 2013 04:07:47 +0000

After the last two week’s distraction from what was going down at the prison, we return in triumphant fashion with the highly entertaining hour of television that was The Walking Dead mid-season four finale, “Too Far Gone”. And by “triumphant” I mean “a total defeat for everyone concerned,” except for us, the viewer. Seriously, Daryl…

407 – “Dead Weight”

Wed, 27 Nov 2013 03:43:30 +0000

If you’re a true-blue Walking Dead fan and loved this episode and couldn’t get enough of the Governor or his storyline, this might not be the cast for you. A.Ron straight up hates it, and Jim likes it but only if he grants that the entire two episode arc is an unnecessary distraction from what’s…

407 – “Dead Weight” – Instant Take

Mon, 25 Nov 2013 04:12:09 +0000

Not a lot of love from Jim or A.Ron this episode, and some pent up anger over last week’s episode now that we’ve seen Gimple’s plan for the Governor’s character unfold. Feels like a lot of wasted opportunity over the last two weeks, especially with how much we were all invested into resolving the Carol…

406 – “Live Bait”

Wed, 20 Nov 2013 04:08:29 +0000

I can’t remember an episode of television this polarizing that we’ve covered, but that’s what you get with The Walking Dead episode 406, “Live Bait.” People loved it, people hated it, people were extremely confused by it. 405 – “Internment” – Instant Take

Mon, 11 Nov 2013 04:39:13 +0000

Jim and A.Ron review a powerhouse, although still problematic around the edges, episode of The Walking Dead, “Internment”. Find out our off the cuff observations and thoughts about Hershel’s heroics, the Grimes and Son wrecking crew, Carolgate fallout, and the return of a rather polarizing character. As always, if you like what we do, give…

316 – “Welcome to the Tombs”

Wed, 03 Apr 2013 04:53:37 +0000

It’s finally here. The moment we’ve all been waiting for. And it stinks! Like a fresh walker on a hot summer day, it stinks! We try to find the words to justify the backlash that this episode has unanimously, and deservedly, received across the internet.

315 – “This Sorrowful Life”

Wed, 27 Mar 2013 04:47:37 +0000

The penultimate episode of Walking Dead’s third season is surprisingly not the war that we, and the survivors, have been prepping for. But that doesn’t mean it’s not what we wanted… Meaningful characterizations and some great acting make this another strong episode on the back half of season 3. But that doesn’t mean it’s perfect…

314 – “Prey” – The Watching Dead

Wed, 20 Mar 2013 03:40:12 +0000

Hey guys, Jim was under the weather this week, so we resorted once again to a remote cast. This one went much better than last, but we still have a ways to go. Bear with us this week and we’ll be back to in-studio next week. This week, we discuss “Prey”, episode 314 of The…

313 – “Arrow on the Doorpost”

Wed, 13 Mar 2013 05:05:23 +0000

A.Ron and Jim were… inspired by the events of this episode to do another tribute skit, our most elaborate yet. If you’re a fan of those, then you’re in for a treat, if not, I suggest skipping about five minutes ahead. Lots of questions raised in this episode, with not many answers. We also have…

312 – “Clear”

Wed, 06 Mar 2013 05:24:08 +0000

This was a pretty good episode of The Walking Dead; unfortunately I don’t think our cast quite matches up this week. First off, some rush hour weather kept Jim and A.Ron from getting together to cast, and we had to hastily assemble a remote recorded cast. We also had some great skit ideas that we…

311 – “I Ain’t a Judas”

Wed, 27 Feb 2013 04:12:20 +0000

This podcast is about romance this week. That special time when the moonlight shines just so, playing off your lover’s shapely ass as she makes her way across the darkened bedroom, by your side… AND THEN PRESSES A KNIFE AGAINST YOUR THROAT!! And then goes back to sleep? Okay, it’s less romantic and more confusing…

310 – “Home”

All this and plenty of your feedback, too!…

The Walking Dead is back, with the mid-season premier episode “The Suicide King”, and so are we! Jim and A.Ron discuss A.Ron’s man crush on Chad Coleman, a ludicrous Rick/Beth/Carl “love triangle”, dead eyed Carl Jr., the Rick/Daryl bromance breakup (temporary, we’re sure), and Andrea’s toe dip into the world of fucked up post-apocalyptic politics.…

Wed, 12 Dec 2012 03:48:35 +0000

Hey everybody! It’s been a break neck, take no prisoners, pedal to the metal, Lori-killing kind of season so far. Can The Walking Dead keep it up in season 3.5? Who will live, who will die? Where does Team Prison and Team Woodbury go next? Listen to Jim, A.Ron, and a few dozen fellow TWD…

307 – “When the Dead Come Knocking”

Wed, 28 Nov 2012 02:35:51 +0000

The Walking Dead hits a home run this week with the very solid episode 307, “When the Dead Come Knocking”. About the only turd in the punch this week was the lunatic in the cabin, and who’s to say the turd didn’t add a touch of savory piquancy that elevated the episode as a whole?…

306 – “Hounded”

Wed, 21 Nov 2012 02:52:21 +0000

I’m sick this week so the update’s are going to be a little barebones. But we soldiered on through the podcast. Jim and I were kind of down on this episode, which we felt had a high silly shit to awesome ratio. Some of the stand out great scenes were, anything with Rick and a…

305 – “Say The Word”

Wed, 14 Nov 2012 03:12:55 +0000

This episode is CRAZY! Literally crazy. Like, Rick and the Governor try to out crazy each other in the Crazy Olympics, and Rick wins by a phone call. Join us as we discuss this and zombie stuffing, Carol’s sham grave, Daryl’s hard core panty dropping abilities, Michonne revealing her softer side (well, she did smile),…

304 – “The Killer Within”

Wed, 07 Nov 2012 03:38:08 +0000

It’s fiesta time! I hope you got your salsa, your chips, your margaritas, your Dos Equis and whatever the hell else you need to celebrate the death of Lori Grimes, because The Walking Dead did it’s level best to make sure we’d have a hard time enjoying it. But what the hell, right? In for…

303 – “Walk With Me”

Wed, 31 Oct 2012 01:40:42 +0000

This week’s episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead finally introduced us to the long awaited character of the Governor, capably played by distinguished actor Liam Neeson. An interesting choice to let him roll with his Scottish brogue, but you know what? I think it works. Other points of interest include Michonne’s epic, episode long stink…

302 – “Sick”

Wed, 24 Oct 2012 01:27:27 +0000

This episode, which is The Walking Dead Season Three Episode Two, just about killed me. Up until the last fifteen minutes, I was as pissed as I’ve ever been watching any TV show, ever. Tue, 20 Mar 2012 03:38:29 +0000

Well, season 2 is over and in the books. We’ve had times both good and bad at the farm, we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve whipped ourselves into a murderous frenzy about one Mrs. Grimes. But now it’s time to put it all behind us and move on. Jim and A.Ron are thumbs up on “Beside…

212 – “Better Angels”

Wed, 14 Mar 2012 02:21:24 +0000

A.Ron’s on vacation, so that means a no frills, all cast update. This week we discuss the penultimate season 2 episode, “Better Angels”. Fan reaction was very mixed, and frankly, we’ve seen better TWD, but the plot’s going where it needs to go, and that’s not a bad thing. Tune in for our thoughts and…

211 – “Judge, Jury, Executioner”

Wed, 07 Mar 2012 03:35:30 +0000

The one thing you can’t say about this week’s episode 211, “Judge, Jury, Executioner” is that nothing happens. Camp Herschel is rocked, and Jim and A.Ron are liking how things are going down on the farm as we enter the home stretch of season 2.5 of The Walking Dead. We discuss Daryl’s Sayid homage, proper…

210 – “18 Miles Out”

Wed, 29 Feb 2012 04:26:52 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are conflicted this episode. There are parts of our favorite AMC zombie-based dramedy that are brilliant, and parts that almost gave us brain aneurysms. Find out which are which as we discuss zombie waterfalls, Andrea Kavorkian, Rick being silent but deadly, Lori extolling the benefits of being pregnant and in the kitchen,…

209 – “Triggerfinger”

Wed, 22 Feb 2012 04:37:29 +0000

In this peach of an episode, A.Ron and Jim discuss some insights from Glen Mazzara’s recent interview with Vulture, the politics of Rachero del Herschel, the relative upper body strength of Mrs. Grimes, the unluckiest jumper in the world, the newly found artfulness of The Walking Dead, the effectiveness of Andrea as Shane’s ambassador, and…

208 – “Nebraska”

Tue, 14 Feb 2012 22:12:17 +0000

Watching Dead is back! Jim and A.Ron have tons to discuss with the return of our favorite zombie themed drama, The Walking Dead, from it’s mid-season hiatus. Find out what we think about small-farm politics, Philly fans, zombie bonfires, who’s jockeying for position of “Most Useless” survivor, and lots more. IMPORTANT: We dish some MASSIVE…

Last recap episode of the short The Walking Dead season one. We’re all caught up, just in time for season 2.5 starts in two weeks. Jim and I really enjoyed this episode, and over all really love season one. Hope you enjoy it! As always, if you like what we do, give us a shout out! You…

It’s time for another catch up recap, this time for The Walking Dead season 1 episode 5, “Wildfire”. Spoiler alert: Jim dies. No, not that Jim. The other one. Anyway, join us as we discuss dubious grieving strategies, zombie premonitions, corpse mis-identification, the importance of watching the boat, and another installment of Dale’s weekly segment…

104 – “Vatos”

Tue, 17 Jan 2012 21:14:33 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are back with more Walking Dead catch up, this time episode four of season one, “Vatos”. We discuss what is quite possibly the single worst scene in The Walking Dead history, troll dad parenting, Jim’s escape plan to China, the relative difficulty of killing Merle, Daryl’s effectiveness as Bad Cop, hilarious gang…

103 – “Tell It To The Frogs”

Wed, 11 Jan 2012 21:25:46 +0000

Jim and A.Ron with more Walking Dead catch up, this time episode three of season one, “Tell It To The Frogs”. 102 – “Guts”

Wed, 04 Jan 2012 02:28:54 +0000

Jim and A.Ron with more Walking Dead catch up, this time episode two of season one, “Guts”. We review tank escapes, the effectiveness of zombie climbers, how foley artists get to have all the fun, gore as comedy, why it’s a bad idea to parade your juicy, living, ass in front of a horde of…

101 – “Days Gone Bye”

Wed, 28 Dec 2011 00:04:57 +0000

Jim and A.Ron are back to cover season 1 of The Walking Dead starting with, of course, the series premiere – “Days Gone Bye”. We hit all the highs including the most vulnerable of garments, dehydration and british biking lessons. As always, if you like what we do, give us a shout out! You can…

Mid-Season Wrap Up

Wed, 07 Dec 2011 04:33:48 +0000

Jim and A.Ron ponder a few questions looking backward to this past half season and looking forward to the next. Where do the survivors go next? Which was better so far, season one or season two? Can they make the zombies scarier? Then we process some listener feedback and talk comic spoilers in the spoiler…

207 – “Pretty Much Dead Already”

Tue, 29 Nov 2011 21:46:32 +0000

Turns out that the midseason finale went out with a bang. Several dozen, actually! Before we get into the recap, we consider an article from The Atlantic on five ways The Walking Dead can be improved. It’s pretty good, even if you think The Walking Dead is just fine as is. Then we break down…

206 – “Secrets”

Wed, 23 Nov 2011 02:48:05 +0000

Welcome to this week’s episode of Watching Dead! Some say this was the best episode of the season, and some say one of the worst. What do Jim and A.Ron think? It might surprise you. We talk about chicken legs, advanced shooting classes, farmer’s ultimatums, the ridiculous, irresponsible way the “morning after” pills were depicted on…

205 – “Chupacabra”

Wed, 16 Nov 2011 02:50:27 +0000

Welcome to this week’s episode of Watching Darryl Dead! The show picks itself off, and dusts itself off after falling into a well last week, only to derail the otherwise decent episode with an ill advised headshot! Rage along with Jim and A.Ron as we vent along with the listeners about the near tragic stupidity…

204 – “Cherokee Rose”

Wed, 09 Nov 2011 01:10:27 +0000

Hey everybody! We had a nice run of two good episodes, so it was about time for a stinker. Not historically bad, by TWD standards, but about as putrid as the zombie in that well. I’m traveling this week, but was able to join the cast through the miracles of modern communication, as Jim and…

203 – “Save The Last One”

Wed, 02 Nov 2011 02:50:58 +0000

First off, apologies for the substandard audio quality. We messed up our audio checks and ended up recording on the mac’s internal mic and not our soundboard. It’s still listenable, but we’ll try to do better going forward. This week, we talk about backlash backlashes, how scary The Walking Dead really is, Shane’s face-heel turn,…

202 – “Bloodletting”

Wed, 26 Oct 2011 01:43:31 +0000

If you hated our negativity on the first cast but stuck with us, good news! We liked the second episode much, much better. I’d say that is because objectively this episode was much, much better, but hey, that’s me. We could really use your support on iTunes! If you like what we’re doing, please give us…

201 – “What Lies Ahead”

Wed, 19 Oct 2011 03:32:02 +0000

Welcome to the first episode of The Watching Dead, the officially unofficial fan podcast of AMC’s The Walking Dead. I’ll be up front, if you’re a big fan of the show, buckle up, because we’re fairly critical of what we feel is a very uneven episode. There is a lot to like, but a lot…
