Cheesecake factory puts beef gelatin in many of their cheesecakes. Here you’ll find the complete list of their cheesecakes that are made without gelatin!
Cheesecakes from the Cheesecake Factory are delicious. However, some of them contain gelatin, which is a problem ingredient for multiple groups of people. Gelatin is typically derived from the skin and bones of animals, so those who keep a vegetarian or vegan diet will not eat it. Similarly, some groups who follow Kosher or Halal laws will not eat these animal products either, unless it is from an approved source.
Therefore, I reached out to Whitney Dunn, of the Cheesecake Factory Headquarters, to find out the story on gelatin used in Cheesecake Factory Cheesecakes. It turns out that many of their cheesecakes do not contain gelatin, and out of the ones that do contain gelatin, some contain Halal-approved beef gelatin. Here is the list of cheesecakes that do NOT contain gelatin, followed by a list of those that contain Halal-approved gelatin.
Note: This list has been updated and is current as of January 2018!
Cheesecakes that DO NOT contain animal gelatin:

It is safe to assume that cheesecakes I have not listed here DO contain (non-Halal) gelatin. Happy eating!
In terms of Cheesecake Factory bread, some of them are vegan, others not, but they do tend to be vegetarian. You can even buy some of the breads online or at your local grocery store like Vons or Albertsons, so just be sure to check the ingredients. To get the best price, use a price tracker like PriceLasso.

]]>The post What Baby Formula is Vegan? appeared first on Approved Eats.
]]>There is no vegan baby formula currently available in the United States, however, there are two different vegan formulas available in the UK: Bebe Mandorle Bébé M and Prémibio Prémiriz. They are both 100% plant based with no animal milk so they are dairy-free.
If you are in the US, you can try to get these shipped from Europe, but that can be expensive. One alternative many moms do is to exclusively breastfeed, which isn’t always an option available to every mom.
Another option is to buy US formula (which isn’t vegan) from one of the baby stores like Amazon, Costco, or Target.
Lactation consulting costs and access can vary depending on where you live. In Los Angeles alone lactation consulting pricing is $274 on average for an in-home visit, but may be covered by insurance.
So before you try to import vegan formula from Europe, you may want to try breastfeeding first as this will be 100% vegan.
If you can’t breastfeed or aren’t producing enough milk, it’s definitely worth using an Amazon price tracker like PriceLasso, to stock up when prices for baby formula are low.

Therefore, they use an amount of lead that tests below FDA standards, but Lenox dinnerware (and therefore any Kate Spade bone china or dinnerware product) is NOT lead-free.
They can be misleading about this, which I’ve seen personally on one specific occasion. There was a Kate Spade drinking glass I was looking to buy about a year ago. They were Kate Spade New York Charlotte Street highball glasses (essentially a highball glass with a blue spiral going around it, as pictured above). Here’s the kicker: the glasses were advertised as “lead-free glass.” I was skeptical about this since I know Lenox (and therefore Kate Spade) dinnerware products contain lead, so I reached out to Lenox itself asking the specific question. This was their response:
“Our records indicate that even thought the Kate Spade Charlotte Street Blue glasses are lead free the paint that is used is not.”
So there you go. Even the products that are advertised as “lead-free” are not actually lead-free. If you’re satisfied with products that are below the FDA limits for lead, by all means buy Kate Spade and Lenox dinnerware. (They do have many wonderful designs!) But if you’re looking for lead-FREE, you will have to look elsewhere.
Our advice is to check how the Kate Spade current price compares to the historical prices using PriceLasso, and getting alerts when the price drops.

]]>The post Pros and Cons of Breastfeeding vs Formula appeared first on Approved Eats.
]]>Many leading organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) say breastfeeding is the best choice for babies
“The AAP reaffirms its recommendation of exclusive breastfeeding for about 6 months, followed by continued breastfeeding as complementary foods are introduced, with continuation of breastfeeding for 1 year or longer as mutually desired by mother and infant.”
You do have to take into account that sometimes breastfeeding isn’t possible due to low milk supply or baby latching issues. In cases like these many moms seek help from a lactation consultant which can have high costs, but are usually well worth it. When lactation consulting doesn’t work, moms have no real choice but to use formula. If this is the case, we advise using PriceLasso to track prices, see price history, and make sure you’re getting a good deal.
The main reason why leading organizations and doctors recommend breastfeeding over formula is that infant and maternal health outcomes tend to be better with breastfeeding.
For example, there is a 40% lower risk of Asthma and a 24% lower risk of obesity with breastfeeding over formula.
