You hear the theme song, don’t you

The single greatest pro-wrestler of all time? I’d say so. Yeah some guys could wrestle better (maybe a lot better), but Hulk Hogan was the pinnacle in terms of popularity in the old WWF for a ridiculously long time. He basically made the sport what it was back in the mid-to-late-80s with the phenomenon known as Hulkamania.

After that incredible run, the character moved over to WCW. And it was there that he continued as a hero… til becoming one of the greatest heels of all time with Hollywood Hogan in the nWo. Notice a theme? Yep, Hogan is a legend among legends.

And it’s that classic, iconic look for the Hulkster that Pop Culture Shock is playing off of for its latest collector piece. Check out the “Hulkamania” Hulk Hogan Statue.

The “Hulkamania” Hulk Hogan Statue measures 24.5” tall, with the Hulkster flexing his famous arm muscles as he steps into the ring on a circular black podium base measuring 10” wide, featuring the words “Hulk Hogan” in red, white, and yellow.

The “Hulkamania” Hulk Hogan Statue is fully sculpted to capture the muscular physique and mustachioed likeness of this iconic WWE Superstar. His blonde hair is tied back in a red Hulkamania bandana with yellow script. Around his neck, Hulk Hogan wears his gold necklace, and his yellow shirt features red Hulkamania script and lifelike folds and tears sculpted into the garment. His costume is complete with yellow briefs, white armbands, red kneepads, and yellow boots all sculpted and painted dynamically to capture the sheen and movement of wrestling attire in action.

I’m not used to seeing the kind of display from Mattel that they had for SDCC 2018. It’s not that they haven’t had big Cons before, as they certainly have. But since the end of Masters of the Universe Classics, it’s seemed as though Mattel’s booths haven’t had a ton of new stuff.

This year though, there were a number of very impressive showings. That’s including the stuff that we have to look at here. And in that mix we have both DC Multiverse and Aquaman figures, some great new WWE classics, and a tidal wave of dinosaurs from Jurassic World.

WWE

I’m not a fan of the least of the modern WWE, but if you’re talking classic Federation stuff? Yeah, I’m on board for all of that. And while there were a good number of modern-flavored Elite figures on hand in the Mattel booth, there were also more than a couple of classic characters shown in plastic.

Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Vader, and Paul Bearer were standouts here.

Outside of the standard line, there was also a nice showing of the retro throwback figures, including a new ring. If you remember the actual 90s line that this new series is based on, then that squared-circle in particular should look very familiar to you. I think it might be a fairly straight remake.

WWE MUSCLE figures were also shown off and even sold at the Mattel shop booth. Though they were the first things to sell out every day, and were nearly impossible to get. I’m hoping they hit actual retail at some point.

Speaking of “actual retail”, Mattel also had the Target exclusive John Tenta (Earthquake) as his WCW persona – The Shark. Like the MUSCLE packs, this figure is probably history already, though I believe Target still has him in their system.

Jurassic World

What we’ve got here, is a few of the standouts, as far as I’m concerned, in the Jurassic World line. It is not however, anywhere near a complete look at the figures that Mattel had in the booth at Comic Con. That’s because -holy crap- are there a lot of dinos either out or coming soon in the Jurassic World line.

There’s also a nifty original Jurassic Park jeep from Matchbox by the way, that fits the JP human figures in this line. It’s out now, and would go great with the Ian Malcolm figure that’s coming out some time this year.

DC Multiverse

And finally, we have the biggest feature of the Mattel booth – DC Multiverse. Yes, that does include Aquaman goods, as well as a monster-sized display based on the upcoming movie.

Pretty awesome that, and a display that more than rivaled what Hasbro does every year with its Marvel Legends showcase. It was good to see. And that’s not mentioning even that there were some tantalizing glimpses of stuff from the film, that should be making it to retail. That includes the sharks with riders, that awesome Black Manta sub, and all the various heroes and Atlantean characters.

And yes, by the way, that is a recreation of the film Black Manta costume that you see in there.

As for the rest of the Multiverse stuff? Well, it was pretty good too! I love seeing where Mattel is heading with this line, since it’s really starting to include some great DC heroes and villains again, harkening back to the DC Universe Classics series that ended years ago. I hope it continues honestly, since we’ve heard some rumors of Mattel having serious issues and laying off staff. But let’s get back to the more fun items at hand.

While there weren’t a ton of figure on hand, there were some good ones, like the Spoiler, a new Bizarro, and the Lex Luthor (in Superman suit) build a figure wave. Good stuff.

Everybody’s got a price

The Million Dollar Man is easily one of the greatest wrestling heels of all time. The villain was active for a good long time, with two runs in the WWE (at the time, the WWF), one lasting about a decade. Post Federation, DiBiase went to WCW, and has wrestled all around the world as well.

Now, DiBiase’s son Ted DiBiase jr. (himself a wrestler) has produced a documentary about his dad, along with filmmaker Peter Ferriero. The movie explores not only the elder DiBiase’s career, but also his relationship with his son. And of course, his journey post-wrestling plays a big part in the film. That’s almost as interesting, as it’s seen him get into his own ministry. It’s been a varied life indeed, to put it mildly.

“’The Price of Fame’ shows that fame, money, power and prestige are not what’s important in life,” said DiBiase Sr. “Devotion to family and friends, giving of yourself to others and building strong character and integrity – these are life’s priceless commodities, and are far more rewarding than anything money can buy. I don’t want to be remembered as a wrestling legend, but someone who, through much grace and mercy, overcame many mistakes. I want to be known as a husband, father, grandfather and friend who left a legacy of selfless love and devotion.”

Welcome to Day 4, faithful reader, of another installment of “Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time” as chosen by our Brutal Gamer staff! Today is going to be an extra special day as today’s Top 5 games are chosen by… ME! That’s right! We’ve reached the point in the week where I get to weigh in on my own personal favorite Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time!

Before we get into my Top 5 list, I just wanted to rap with you a little bit. I’ve been speaking a lot about the nostalgia of wrestling games and the things that I used to do when I was younger. How I would hang out with my friends and act out fueds together. But, let’s fast forward a little bit. Let’s get into the later era of wrestling games. When Create-A-Wrestler was the new option that blew our minds and let us be as creative as we can. Granted, the first, maybe, 28, characters we created were all horrendous abominations while we got used to flexing our CaW muscles and created some masterpieces.

A couple of my friends were part of what is called an E-Federation or E-Fed for short. For those who are unaware of what this is, it is a fantasy wrestling league that is headed up by several people who roleplay in created wrestlers with completely original backstories. Matches are done via text and a winner is chosen by a moderator who feels which “wrestler” posted the best or most accordingly. With this E-Fed, we had character ideas a plenty! We obviously created our own characters and made them face off on the virtual landscape and we had endless hours of fun. Being able to pit this characters against each other was a dream but more importantly was being able to actually see these characters that we had pictured in our minds now doing the moves that we pictured them doing. Outfits that matched our creative vision and entrances that rivaled those on Monday Night RAW (or so we thought.) It was really a joy and thankfully Create a Wrestler is a staple in our wrestling games now that will not be leaving anytime soon.

With that being said… let’s get on to my Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time!

#5. WWF War Zone (PSOne): “WWF War Zone was NOT a pretty game at all. This game is pretty fugly, the controls were damn wonky, but man, did I play the Hell out of it. My buddies and I played this game like crazy but I was had a fantastic advantage with this game. I personally owned the PSOne version but my best friend had the N64 version. While both played the same, the PSOne had one advantage. We had the actual music. When I put my character to come out to the D-Generation X theme, I nearly died. How cool was this?! Thick in the Attitude Era of the WWF, this was such an awesome addition to the game. Never had I had a game where I could actually hear the wrestler themes. N64 though? Stuck with midi versions of the tracks. PSOne for the win!”

#4. Pro Wrestling (NES): “Now I know what you’re thinking. “Seriously, Robb? Pro Wrestling?” Ya damn straight! This was the first wrestling game that I actually remember playing. Now this is a long time ago, readers. But seriously though, how could you not enjoy a game with wrestlers like Star Man, King Slender, and The Amazon (who was the Creature from the Black Lagoon!) Needless to say, with only two buttons to press, I had a lot of fun with this game in my wee years and appreciate that my love for the genre began here.”

#3. WWF Wrestlemania (NES): “Yup, another classic. I absolutely loved playing this game with my brother as kids. Playing as Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan or the Honky Tonk Man was just awesome. The game had a side view of the ring and you had to beat your opponent so that they had less Energy then you. Random items would scroll across the top of the ring that would give you more Energy. Depending on your character, you had a specific item that scrolled. Dollar sign for Ted DiBiasi or a guitar for the Honky Tonk Man. This game takes a spot on my list for nostalgia, ease of play and just all around greatness of playing as my childhood heroes.

#2. Virtual Pro Wrestling (N64 – Japan Only): “Yeaaaaa boy! Not a lot of people had access to this game but I thankfully had a resourceful older brother with money to burn and a love for wrestling games. This game required an adapter so you can play the game on your American console. This game was… PHENOMENAL! The roster was incredible. You had wrestlers from WCW, Neo Strong Wrestling (New Japan Pro Wrestling) and Dead or Alive Wrestling (Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling) to name a few. You were able to play as Chris Benoit in his Pegasus Kid attire, you were able to blow green mist into peoples faces as The Great Muta and even do some sick acrobatics as Mil Mascaras. You were able to tinker with the colors of the characters outfits which is something introduced into a wrestling game until WCW/nWo Revenge. We would create full on tournaments with the vast roster of wrestlers we had and played this game endlessly. This game doesn’t get top honors in my book merely because there was no English translations in the game and you had to edit everything manually into English characters so you knew with who you were wrestling. This minor setback keeps it from being my all time favorite… which bring me to…

#1. WWF No Mercy: “That’s right! No Mercy. The most complete wrestling game there ever was. Create a Wrestler was phenomenal. You could tweak attire color, move sets and there was a freaking career mode. You were able to create killer entrances! I can’t tell you how many times I used Gangrel’s fiery intro for my character. You had a Smackdown Mall so you could buy more attire, moves… the list just goes on and on. You had hardcore matches in backstage areas with weapons strewn about for you to bash other wrestlers heads. Backstage matches… what?! So awesome.

The game was so complete and I spent so much time with it and not just me, but my friends as well. We often talked about characters we created and couldn’t wait to show each other when we went over. Our creativity was being used in so many ways. I could honestly go on forever about No Mercy and would not be able to say enough great things about it. The game was absolutely killer and I am so happy that I was part of the generation that got to play such a well made game. The control scheme was easy and understandable, the CaW was perfection and the career mode made you want to keep coming back and play it by yourself (friends not needed.) This is the game that all future games should have been designed after. Nowadays, it feels as though devs want to try knew things and feel they’ve come up with a new way to enjoy the game when the reality is, No Mercy had it right. It wouldn’t have taken much to replicate that same formula and expand on it. Sadly, no one ever has and No Mercy will live on at the top of many Gamers’ Top 5 list.”

Well, there you have it folks! My Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time list. I had some classic gems in there and even an N64 game from Japan. Bet you didn’t see that one coming? Wrestling Games. You really can just go on and on about your favorites, why they are your favorites (mechanics, options, ease of move execution, etc.), the list goes on. One thing is for sure is that we all loved them and we all made bets with each other on whether you could beat your friend as Bret “The Hitman” Hart while they played as The Undertaker. You would bet lunch tickets, chocolate milk, whatever you had but you knew that your skills were unparalleled and will not be challenged lightly.

The generation of wrestling games really spanned a vast number of years. Starting from the NES Pro Wrestling which came out in 1986 (which I consider a fantastic throwback of a game. Star Man anyone?) stretching to this years WWE 2K17 which will be out in October 2016. That is 30 years of wrestling greatness that we have all been able to enjoy. That is a span of time older than some of our readers (that is actually 3 years shy of this writers entire life span!)

Since it is Day 3 of our “Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time” feature, I have some special news! I was able to get a Top 5 list from Brutal Gamer’s Editor in Chief himself, Jason M. He’s been keeping busy along with most of the other staff with E3 rumblings and announcements but he was able to hook us up with his own Top 5 list. So without further ado, let’s see what his Top 5 look like and see if we agree! Scroll below!

Before we start though, the Chief did have a few words (disclaimers) to say before jumping into his list: “There might be a few dark horse candidates on my “best-of list”, but I had a great time with all of the games here. Some even took over my gaming-life completely for a while, and a few I still play today… and no, there’s nothing from the last few years listed here.

#5. Saturday Night Slam Masters (SNES): “This little gem is the only game on my list that doesn’t count the WWF/E as its inspiration. Not that it had to, with Capcom dreaming up the wrestlers on its roster, which included Final Fight’s Haggar! Great controls, fast action, and that signature (16bit) Capcom style make this one a wrestling game that’s still fun today.”

#4. WWF Wrestlefest (Arcade): “When I was a kid, there weren’t too many great wrestling games on the home consoles. The NES’ offerings were god-awful and the SNES didn’t get any decent ones till like 93/94. Thankfully, there was Wrestlefest. Never really making it to home consoles (the one we got a few years ago wasn’t the original), this game had huge sprites, a terrific roster of classic 80s characters, and fast tag-team action. The only down side was running out of quarters. Well, that and the stunningly hot pizzeria my buddies and me used to play it in.”

#3. WWE Legends of Wrestlemania (Xbox 360/PS3): “The only wrestling game other than my number one that I still play today, LoW had some kind of magic. It sported over-the-top character designs, a GREAT create a wrestler, all the necessary modes and excellently simple controls. It also had many of the WWF superstars from the golden age of wrestling. A joy to play (and watch!)”

#2. WWF WarZone (PSOne): “When I got back into wrestling in the late 90s (I was lapsed for a few years), one of the first wrestling games that I picked up was Warzone. One of my friends and I became obsessed with the game pretty damn fast too. Yes, it’s got some janky controls that are the opposite of what I usually like in a wrestling game (slower is better), but at the time it was all kinds of awesome. And it’s (now crappy) create a wrestler was one of the first – spent many an hour with that one.”

#1: WWF No Mercy (N64): “What’s there to say about No Mercy? It’s quite honestly  wrestling game perfection. THQ tapped AKI for the game and its precursor Wrestlemania 2000 (which is also awesome, but too similar to add here), and they did a job like no other. Matches are strategic, perfectly-paced, and most of all they just feel like real WWE bouts. Add in flawless controls, great (for the time) graphics, and a create a wrestler feature that, while simple, could turn out some incredible custom jobs (complete with up to 3 alt outfits!) and you’ve got a winner on all counts.”

Well there you have it folks! Straight from our Chief’s… erm… well, text! Another fantastic “Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time” list. Do you agree with any of these? I must say, he pulled out some oddballs but, man, weren’t these great? I was a massive fan of Wrestlefest and spent many an afternoon with several quarters on the screen waiting to “Get Next.” While it was fun to play and sometimes win, sometimes lose to my friends… there was something more when it was against a stranger. Even better if they happened to be older than you and you showed them who was boss. Those were good days when I walked back home. I knew my mom would yell at me for taking too long, but you know what? It was totally worth it. I felt just like the Ultimate Warrior of arcade Wrestling those days.

Day 2 of Wrestling Action Coming at ya!

Welcome to day 2 of Brutal Gamer’s “Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time!” as chosen by some of our staff at the Brutal Gamer offices. How many of you remember WWF Royal Rumble? Man, I remember playing this game endlessly when I was a kid. Me and my buddies would hang out in our rooms while our parents did their adult thing and we our bedrooms would become arenas! We would shut lights off to make matches look more epic! We even made our own announcements replaying how good ole JR use to announce. We even took on the same swag as some of our favorite wrestlers. My friend swore he was the “Excellence of Execution” and I was always “The Bad Guy”. Razor Ramon was the man back in the day, just saying.

What was most interesting, especially looking back, was how God-awful some of the graphics were. For their time, they were fantastic, but man, looking back, our favorite wrestlers looked like clay figures. But we didn’t care. It wasn’t about how many frames per second our systems were pumping out or whether it was HD or if I had an expansion pack. Nope. We popped in the cartridge which had everything the game will have upon purchase. No secret locked donwloads or timed expansions. When we bought our games, it was the whole package. HD was non-existent. The only thing we needed to worry about in those days was whether we had an extra controller. Times were simpler then. Great times.

#5. Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain (PS2): “The early PS2 era of wrestling games went from one strength to another with Just Bring It!, Shut Your Mouth and the magnum opus of that generation, Here Comes the Pain. A real game changer for the Smackdown franchise, with the first to introduce Legendary wrestlers on top of more than 50 current Superstars (a roster that, by today’s standard, feels overwhelming stuffed with brilliance).

The gameplay was (and still is) incredibly tight and rewarding. The later games decided to slow things down a bit too much, but Here Comes the Pain finds the perfect balance between fun arcade style combat and the later simulation experience the 2K games would move towards.

And do not even get me started on THAT engine. Gorgeous.”

#4. Wrestlemania 2000 (N64): “If I am not mistaken, this was THQ’s first WWF game. And they came as close to knocking it out of the park as anyone could have. What I remember loving most about this was how endless and huge the season mode felt. It was the first of its kind at the time and even though it could have used a proper storyline, fighting your way to a championship match was really a great deal of fun. I never cared much for the earlier wrestling games since the controls always went over my head, but Wrestlemania 2000 was very easy to just pick up and play, while requiring some degree of skill.”

#3. WWE Supercard (Android, iOS): “I probably deserve all the flak I get for including this one, BUT this is just so addictive. It has kept my attention a lot longer than any WWE game released over the last few years. It’s dumb, completely unoriginal and allows me to have a super shiny Stone Cold Steve Austin on my phone. So, win?”

#2. WWF No Mercy (N64): “The definitive wrestling game. I can honestly say, in no uncertain terms, that No Mercy is perfect. An extensive storyline, over 60 wrestlers and the introduction of tag-team ladder matches (best gimmick matches in wrestling history), everything was spot on. And this game was incredibly hard (but fair)!

One thing that separates this from the rest is the dedicated fan base it has. It is still possible to find mods with all the recent superstars, and most look fantastic. It feels like a game that will never and can never die.

#1. WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role (PS1): “This right here was my childhood. The most played game on my PS1. Sadly, it does not hold up as well as the N64 games (the season mode is pretty horrible looking back), but the amount of hours spent running through season after season as Chris Jericho waiting for the game to hand out a title shot (went a full year without the title being defended once) while delivering the smackdown to Kane on a weekly basis.

Still, removing the nostalgia glasses, I do genuinely believe this game delivers the most enjoyable arcade experience out of all the Smackdown games released. It’s frantic, flashy and life consuming (for a kid, anyway).”

There you have it folks! Another Top 5 Wrestling Games of all Time list made by one of our staff! Great choices all around and being someone who has played the vast majority of these games, it is really hard to come up with my own top 5! But, alas fair reader, you will have to wait until Day 4 to see my list! I hope you all enjoyed this trip down memory lane. Toss your boots over by the buckets of sweat, throw your wrestling trunks in your gym bag and lets reminisce about the simpler days when button mashing wasn’t a bad thing or frowned upon. I went around the Brutal Gamer offices and collected some feedback from fellow writers on which are their top 5 wrestling games of all time and a little bit about why they felt that why. Obviously everyone will have a differing opinion and our reason for nostalgia may be why we love the games we chose, it might be because the game play overall, it could even the be the ever famed Create a Wrestler option that some of us have poured hours over in several games. In any event, we all have our own personal reasons, but one thing is for certain. Wrestling games hold a special place in all of our gamer hearts. With that being said, let’s begin with resident writer Michael J. and his Top 5 Wrestling Games of All Time.

#5. Super WrestleMania (SNES): “The first wrestling game I ever played and I had a lot of fun with it.  There wasn’t much of a roster to speak of, only about 10 wrestlers, but it was fun to play.  The button mashing grappling was good when played with a friend, and it looked pretty good in it’s day too, although the fact that each wrestler had pretty much identical move sets didn’t allow for much variety.”

#4. WCW/nWo REVENGE (N64): “This was the last WCW game developed by AKI, who developed a string of really good wrestling titles in the late 90’s-early 2000’s.  Revenge was simple enough to play and, as with many wrestling games, great fun to play with friends.  It lacked the ‘Create-A-Wrestler’ mode that it’s competition at the time, Acclaim’s WWF War Zone, had, but it more than made up for it with the sheer number of wrestlers in the game.  Pretty much every WCW or nWo wrestler you could think of was included, which gave you plenty of choices.

#3. FirePro Wrestling (Gameboy Advance): “The Fire Pro Wrestling series had been around for a long time now, and has seen almost thirty releases since the series started.  My first and, to date, only interaction with the series was the first Fire Pro Wrestling release on the Game Boy Advance, and of the handheld wrestling games I’ve played, it’s the best by a country mile, and quite a jarring experience initially, as it played very differently from other wrestling games, requiring tactical button presses rather than simple button mashing.  The game had an incredible roster of 200 pre-made wrestlers, as well as a create-a-wrestler mode.  You could also have MMA fights inside an octagon, which is a cool addition.”

#2. WWF SmackDown 2!: Know Your Role (PS1): “The second WWF game made by Yuke’s, who were arguably at the top of their game at this point.  Know Your Role featured an interesting career mode which also allowed multiple players, which was pretty cool at the time.  Create-A-Wrestler was brought in to this game having not been in the previous release.  For me, this was the most fun of the SmackDown! series to play, and ladder matches and cage matches were a particular highlight.  I put a lot of hours into this.”

#1. WWF No Mercy (N64): “In my opinion, the Nintendo 64 had by far the best wrestling games of any console.  I honestly could have just filled this list with N64 wrestling games and been happy with it.  No Mercy represents the best of the best to me.  It lost a few features from it’s predecessor, WrestleMania 2000, but it gained a hell of a lot more.  The Create-A-Wrestler mode was massively improved, and the ability to unlock new items in the SmackDown! Mall using currency earned in game was cool.  Perhaps my favorite thing about the game was the Championship Mode, which featured branching story lines, encouraging multiple playthroughs to see what else would happen.”

If you’re a WWE fan, or really a wrestling fan of any ilk, then you probably are well aware that Rowdy Roddy Piper passed away recently. It was a bit of a shock, to put it mildly, since Piper seemingly wasn’t ill at all. But that’s kind of the nature of most heart attacks and here we are.

Fortunately he had recently recorded a pretty candid interview with his friend and fellow WWE alumni Chavo Guerrero Jr for Guerrero’s new talk show- The Chavo Show. It’s a one-on-one that’s now available to watch in the player below, straight from website GeekNation.com. If you’re a fan, then it’s kind of a must watch.

The promotion tasked gamers with picking up a trio of games (or more) for the benefit of one of three charities; WWF, World Builders or Gaming for Good. After you made your choices, a $5 (or more) sum would be transferred to your charitable institution of choice via Text To Give platforms. In all, it was a really nice promotion and a way for both GOG.com (who was celebrating 5 years in business at the time) and gamers both to give back a little.

A number of big name developers jumped on board for the event including Introversion, Subset Games, Tiger Style Games, Amanita Design, Instant Kingdom, Northway Games, Digital Game Factory, Might & Delight, Daedalic, and Oddworld. Each and every one of the groups listed were an integral part of the proceedings as they didn’t receive any royalties for games sold- all that cash went straight to the charity of the purchaser’s choosing. That’s just plain awesome, especially in the entertainment industry.

In total, sales form games like FTL and Waking Mars reached the sum of $1.9 million USD. That’s a pretty heady amount and a smashing success for GOG and the three charities. The gaming storefront is promising that we might  not have seen the last of a sale like this either as GOG is looking to the new year as one that will be filled with new games and “big announcements”. As for more giving back, GOG says that they won’t forget about that either as 2014 rolls on.

Honestly, we wouldn’t expect any less from the DRM-free online shoppe.

GOG.com is no stranger to awesome sales on its library of new and classic PC/Mac games. The site is a favorite of our here at BG and we’re not exactly in the minority as thousands of folks choose GOG for their (DRM-free) PC gaming source. Usually, the sales on the site are so good that you don’t really feel too bad for taking advantage, but this newest initiative from the company will actually have you feeling good- and maybe even a little accomplished.

Together with the World Wildlife Fund, Worldbuilders and Gaming for Good, GOG has posted up a list of games for something they’re calling the ‘Pick 3+, Donate $5 or More’ sale. No, it doesn’t really roll off the tongue, but with deals this good it really does’t have to.

Included in the listing of offered games are titles like FTL, Waking Mars and Oddworld- all you need to do to get in on the deal is to select your charity, pick three or more from the list and then choose how much you’d like to donate. The minimum donation is only five bucks though, and even if that’s all you can manage, you’ll still be doing some serious good.

GOG also tells us that all of the proceeds go towards the customer’s selected charity (WWF, Worldbuilders or Gaming for Good). That basically means that things like VAT, credit card fees and more won’t be counted in your $5 (or whatever amount). And that’s because GOG is assuming all of those extemporaneous fees for you so that your donation will go, in its entirety, where you want it to go. Pretty cool.

WWF, of course, is one of the largest and best known ecological charities in the world, but the other two charities involved in this fundraiser are perhaps less well known. Worldbuilders is a charity that raises funds in support of Heifer International–an international charity dedicated to eradicating poverty and hunger around the world–and is run by New-York Times Bestselling author Patrick Rothfuss (The Name of the Wind, and Wise Man’s Fear). Gaming for Good is run by YouTube gaming personality Athene, and has already successfully raised more than 6 million dollars for Save the Children, an international charity that serves impoverished, marginalized and vulnerable children and families in nearly 120 countries.
