It’s time for another edition of Annie’s Craft Store’s lookbook! Whether it’s knit or crochet, Annie’s has something for everyone in their Autumn Glow Collection. There are 5 designs made with your favorite Plymouth Yarns! Of course you want to make them all but let Plymouth and Annie’s help you get started with a giveaway. One lucky winner will get to chose a pre-selected knit or crochet kit! All you need to do to enter is comment on our blog and tell us your essential knitwear piece for the Autumn transition. Christmas in July!

We are only 22 weeks away from Christmas and 20 weeks until Hanukkah begins. I am guilty of not starting projects until October and staying up until the wee hours of the morning in the days before the holiday. I’m even guilty of knitting under my desk at work (don’t tell the boss). One thing I do now is plan….my brother always wants an Alpaca scarf, my niece always wants cowls. my sister, whom I love dearly, is my challenge. I think she does it on purpose. She always wants sweaters with cables, lace, or stitches that require practice before I apply them to the garment!

We have some fabulous new designs that would make up into cherished, keepsake gifts. If you’re not a knitter/crocheter but love one….consider a kit. The real way to your fiber worshiping friend’s heart is with yarn! Your local yarn shop can help guide you in the right direction. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Free Poncho Pattern from Mobile Yarn

I came into the office this morning and found this gem in my email from a cute little shop in Alabama. The Garter Cable Poncho, by Heidi Sunday, is free for you to download! The pattern was written for Encore Worsted but as you can see in this picture, it’s beautiful in Dynamo too! I asked Heidi, the yarn shop owner, if I could share it with you and she said “of course!”. Everyone needs a poncho…..this summer heat wave will be gone before you know it and the leaves will be turning…..perfect poncho weather.

Encore and Charity Knitting….Perfect together

Here’s a great little news story out of Idaho Falls, ID about a young man learning to knit and making chemo caps. Encore is the perfect yarn for these projects. The Yarn Connection has quite a variety of colors too!

Ask at your local yarn shop about charity knitting projects. There are so many organizations in need and many knitters and crocheters who want to help. You guys rock! It always warms my heart to see the amount of good and kind things the makers in this world are doing. Keep up the good work!

Spring is Springing!

And after our trip across the country to participate in the Spring Show of The National Needle Arts event, we here at Plymouth Yarn are PUMPED! We had a tremendous response for our neon colors in Encore Worsted and our new sock yarn called Neon Now!

After returning from Italy in July on a Yarn Sourcing trip, we witnessed the same about trends. Neon is still wildly out there! It is hot, it is now, and it is available!

Here are a few examples of neon for color combos. I love the one below with the black and grey-see how it makes the orange pop but yet not read completely neon? LOVE THAT!

And then putting orange and fuchsia together? Who’d have thought that worked. But it does! Tell us what you do with neon!
