It is my pleasure to invite you to the concert ‘Handel and Contemporaries’. It will take place on December 16 (Wednesday) at 7.00 p.m. in Bulgaria Chamber Hall (Sofia, ul. Aksakov No. 1). The concert is a veritable musical event – some of the most outstanding early music performers in Bulgaria join each other to perform the Bulgarian premiere of ‘Dixit Dominus’ – a work of the colossus of the Baroque music Georg Friedrich Handel. 308 years after Handel created it, the Bulgarian audience has the chance to hear this enchanting music in live concert performance, for the first time in Bulgaria. The concert will go under the baton of the Bulgarian-born German conductor VICTOR ILIEV. In the concert will take part a number of prominent masters of the baroque performance art including Ivaylo Donkov (The Voice of Bulgaria 2013) and Yanko Marinov (awarded the prize ‘Musician of the Year 2014’ in the category of active creative activity). Among this pleiades of talents is the magnificent cellist Atanas Krastev who, every time when performs, wins the hearts of the European audiences.

It is a fact, that we rarely buy computer games in our country, because the sites for pirated software are so many. And after all, the price of 99,50 leva for the “new version” is not exactly affordable for the budget of a normal family. And there is the other side of this, some parents are not so careful and are not really interested what the child is doing when he/she is in front of the computer. As long as the child is having fun, not bothering them with his teenage “crap”, they are calm.

Recently there was a survey which aim was to see the influence that computer games could have over the mind of children and adults. It turns out that the brain begins to feel that influence just a week later after someone has started playing. That was found out by the scientists at the Indiana University School of Medicine. They have put the volunteers under tests and discovered that the boys, who play action games, have changes in the brain, in the areas, related to the cognitive function and emotional control.

Scientists believe that this influence has a long-term effect, but they were not able to establish if these mental changes actually lead to a real physical violence. This condition is known as “pathological computer abuse”, in which children and adults become too addicted to the Internet and video games. This abuse has already been listed as “mental disorder”.

The conclusions that were made on the basis of these results also indicate that these psychological disorders can affect the children when they become adults. With the technology progress, three dimensional graphic becomes even closer to reality, and the sound into the computer games is so real for a long time, that is why we can reach a moment when “players” will stop differentiate which is reality and which is a virtual world.

So parents, our advice is to pay attention to what you are going to give your children as a present for the coming holidays. If you do not have a clue what they are “asking from Santa”, you should ask the shop-assistant some questions about the game. Consider whether the game (this is in case of course when your child has asked for a computer game, not for a dog) is appropriate for your child, because in most of the new games he/she could see murders, drugs, weapons, prostitution, etc. I am sure that you do not want to see your child jumping for joy that he/she “has just delivered the package to this and this dealer”, while “he has been chased by cups on the way and killing everybody around”, isn’t that right?

Art is a universal language for communication between people regardless of their business and social surroundings. This is the reason we chose a space where new ideas are born, where multi-level interaction and communication is guaranteed. The theme of the upcoming event is full-flavoured wine. They say Theodosii is the “kaval player of the world”, and we’re more than proud to admit it.  Music critics have also recognized his heavenly talent. He has been awarded numerous international prizes like the Paris International Art Academy award in 1996, “Musician of the year” in 1997 and 2002, and many others, for his unique style – a combination of folklore and jazz.

According to Theodosii, the connection between cinema and music is an unstoppable, perfect love. He believes love is the only feeling that makes us alive. Spassov is not only an exceptional musician, but also a legendary person. It’s a great honour and pleasure for us to have him as a part of the performance in “Arena Armeec” and we wish him many years in love with his cosmic music.

Theodosii Spassov states that in his opinion, Maestro Morricone is a music genius of our time, making the world richer and more sensual through the power of his creations. Spassov also believes Morricone is an original and unparalleled personality with which humanity must be proud and happy his Godly talent lives among us. Unmatched and unique in the history of movie music, Ennio Morricone is recognized and appreciated by audiences of various age all over the world.

ABOUT MORRICONЕ

Ennio Morricone started working in post-war times – a period in history not favourable of creative development and improvisations. Like most young men at the time, the music student was truly eager to prove his ideas that went beyond reconciliation, pragmatism, wits and naivety.

He grew up in a typical working class environment, where his father, a musician, provided the only income for the family for many years and where life (survival) and work were closely related.
These conditions mark the manner of work of the living legend with a sense of dignity and virtue. Besides his indisputable talent, a key factor in the development of young Morricone was the Italian family tradition which suggests that the son inherits his father’s career. Ennio Morricone enrolled in the Conservatory “Santa Cecilia”, where he studied trumpet. At the age of 14 he was already playing in nightclubs known as “capretto” (the kid) and could replace his ailing father at home as a breadwinner. Not long after that his teachers noticed his sense of music and guided him towards studying composition. Shortly after graduating from “Santa Cecilia” the future composer began working with the biggest pop band of RAI – Italian public television. This proved to be the first crucial period of his work, since some of the most successful radio and television programs in post-war Italy were made at the time.

Morricone has become one of the leading “architects” of the Italian recording industry. He was the first to demonstrate completely original elements of the modern musical language. Young Morricone was firm in his decision to create original music during the 60s of the last century and actively experimented and seeked a fusion between different music styles and classical music. He participated in the creation of independent movie production, without commercial claims, where he felt the freedom to experiment, an approach that lead him to unimaginable excellence in future. This period is marked by the specific innovations of Morricone and his endless energy that resulted in the extraordinary success of the Maestro with his characteristic “absolute music”.

With the benefit of hindsight, we are now definite that his decision to methodically and flawlessly follow his way was the right one. The result was more than impressive, dozens of international awards including 5 nominations for “Oscar”, an Honorary “Oscar” awarded by the Film Academy, “Grammy” award, “Golden Lion” awards and many others.

Iyeoka’s tour started in May in Athens, Greece, where the performer of Simply Falling was warmly welcomed by the audience. Except her concerts, her acoustic park sessions and radio performances won not only our neighbours’ respect, but a lot more – their hearts. Iyeoka continued her journey with a visit to Switzerland’s Afro-Pfingsten Festival, where the visitors could not only hear authentic African rhythms, but also feel Africa’s atmosphere and culture in the thematic markets and workshops.

Iyeoka’s next appearance is planned for her hometown – Boston. In Massachusetts, the state where she launched her career, the performer will present her biggest hits. After that she will go on to two stages in Germany, and in the heat of the summer Iyeoka will arrive in Bulgaria!

On the Black Sea coast near Sozopol, Iyeoka will sing in front of Bulgarian audience for the first time. Undoubtedly, this will be the hottest location of her tour! „I am very excited for my concert in Bulgaria”, said the charming singer, „it will not be the last time I’ll visit the country, I am sure”. She will be performing the songs of her third and most successful album Say Yes, as well as new tracks, with a band of five instrumentalists. The mix of salty sea water, cold drinks and some hot soul music won’t leave anyone unmoved by Iyeoka’s concert.
