Sat, 11 Jan 2020 11:00:07 +0000

It's a new decade, and a new season of 3 Men And A Movie is underway! We're starting things off with Taika Waititi's new movie Jojo Rabbit.

Taika has a unique funny bone, so have a listen and see if it tickled both Cross and Gordy. Also to be noted that there's a whole lot of sweetness to be found too, and in some ways unexpectedly. Hope you enjoy the episode! Please share and rate on iTunes!

S04E08: The Fugitive (1993)

Sun, 17 Nov 2019 08:55:23 +0000

A gap in Gordy's movie watching history. Turns out the Dr Kimble variety of Harrison Ford wasn't his style in 1993. With the gap now filled, Cross and Gordy sit down to chat it out and with a slice of Tommy Lee Jones in there predictably, we hope you enjoy the episode! Please rate and share too!

S04E07: Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019)

Fri, 23 Aug 2019 20:26:47 +0000

Cross and Gordy go back to 1969 California with Quentin Tarantino's latest (and 9th Movie). Cult lovin' Gordy and Cross get into the Weeds and chat out all the likes and dislikes with a good mix of where we're at on all things QT... and hippy cults. Hope you enjoy the episode!

And please share, rate on iTunes and tell all your movie loving buddies!

S04E06: Dragged Across Concrete (2018)

Sun, 04 Aug 2019 07:49:42 +0000

With a title that's almost as edgy as our podcast, S. Craig Zahler follows up Brawl On Cell Block 99 with this little number! Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn star as two cops who aren't against a little off the radar action.

Difficult to describe exactly what kinda movie it is, beyond suggesting you listen in on Gordy and Cross break it down. Please share, rate and enjoy!

S04E05: Casino (1995)

Thu, 11 Jul 2019 08:44:03 +0000

Gordy and Cross visited Vegas back in February. Thus making them more than qualified to get into the finer points of Scorsese's Nevada crime epic.

Hope you enjoy the episode and let us know your thoughts! Also if you can review us on iTunes or share with your movie loving buddies it's appreciated. And any audience suggestions are most welcome too!

S04E03: Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Wed, 08 May 2019 08:04:23 +0000

Come and find out what we thought about it, agree or disagree then let us know your thoughts. As always, appreciate any ratings on iTunes, but more importantly share us with your movie fiend friends!

Fri, 05 Apr 2019 19:54:07 +0000

Hello! We are back! And we open up this new season with a hot take on the recent release 'Us'. Jordan Peele follows up 'Get Out' with this home invasion horror (or is it?)

Hear what Cross and Gordy thought, with all the usual insight and intrigue! Hope you enjoy the episode, and if you do, please share with your friends and leave us a rating on iTunes. And as always, send us some movies you'd like us to discuss and even you could guest on it!

And if you enjoy it please leave a rating on iTunes. We'll be right back!

Sun, 14 Oct 2018 19:53:57 +0000

The 3 Men return after a little R&R with a 'Lukewarm' Take on the new Shane Black movie... The Predator.

Is it fools accusing people of being the best or is it just a big old sweaty Predalien wet fart of a movie?? Enjoy the episode, please share with your friends... and special mention for next week, God Gave Rock n' Roll to you...

S03E30: The Warriors (1979)

Sun, 09 Sep 2018 22:17:25 +0000

The 3 Men are Three Men once more for one time only (or not)! This week we have a special guest presenter who was brought on to discuss his audience selection of The Warriors!

It's important to note, that any audience selector is welcome to sit in on the Pod. And Moon is the first to take up that mantle. All that's left to say is... Threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Mennnnnnnnnnnnn... Come out to playeeeeeeeeee!

S03E29: Mission Impossible (1996)

Sun, 02 Sep 2018 17:00:00 +0000

Gordy chooses to accept Cross' mission to revisit Ethan Hunt's first adventure courtesy of director Brian De Palma.

A big box office movie from the summer of 1996, it launched a franchise that is now on it's sixth installment.

Cross is a fan, but is Gordy...?

S03E28: Small Faces (1996)

Sun, 26 Aug 2018 15:54:56 +0000

Welcome To Tongland! Another audience selection this week, and after much harassment Laurie Mclelland gets his wish. He wanted us to revisit (in Gordy's case) Gillies Mackinnon's movie Small Faces.

It was Cross' first introduction to this movie and the lack of subtitles was the first hurdle for him to get over. Or Cross some may say. Or nobody. Anyway, enjoy the episode and please review on iTunes and share with any movie minded buddies. Thank you!

S03E27: The Running Man (1987)

Sun, 19 Aug 2018 21:48:21 +0000

Who loves YOU, and who do you LOVE!? Really don't need to expand any more than that beyond saying He Was a Real Pain In The Neck. And then He Had to Split. That Hit The Spot. Enjoy the episode folks!

If you could leave a rating and review on iTunes that'd be really appreciated too.

S03E26: Scream (1996)

Sun, 12 Aug 2018 22:14:57 +0000

It may well be August, but Gordy n' Cross already have Halloween in their sights if this weeks episode is anything to go by! It was lovely to revisit this Horror Classic! It's almost as self aware and knowing as the hosts!

Hope you enjoy, and please leave a rating and comment on iTunes, it really makes a difference!

S03E25: Point Break (1991)

Sun, 05 Aug 2018 18:46:48 +0000

"Lose something, Brah?" I know what it is! It's the chasm in your life that is now filled by this here Point Break podcast!

Gordy n' Cross discuss all things awesome here, who can they relate to the most? Utah, Bodhi... Pappas??

A delight to discuss this one this week. Hope you enjoy it too! Please leave a rating on iTunes and comments too are always welcome.

S03E24: American Psycho (2000)

Sun, 29 Jul 2018 15:55:00 +0000

Gordy n' Cross have a look at the superficial existence of Patrick Bateman in 1987 NYC. They also draw what parallells they can... there's lots of talk of flexing and business cards. Hope you enjoy the episode!

If you can spare a minute a rating and comment on iTunes would be most appreciated. And tell a friend! Cheers.

S03E23: Bird on a Wire (1990)

Sun, 22 Jul 2018 17:00:00 +0000

So Cross and Gordy revisit classic Goldie n' Mel. And we also had a beer during this one, so we have excessive Gordy swearing and Cross trying to corral the runaway train! It was a delight to revisit some early 90s goodness, and there's screen chemistry all over the movie certainly!

Hope you enjoy the episode and please leave us a rating on iTunes if you can. It's really appreciated!

S03E22: The Incredibles (2004)

Sun, 15 Jul 2018 18:00:00 +0000

Gordy and Cross go all zeitgeisty and look back at Pixar's The Incredibles. It was released 14 years ago which is mental! But did going back to watch the first one get the chaps excited about the sequel or not?

Please share with your friends and leave us a rating on iTunes. It's really appreciated. Enjoy!

S03E21: Ghostbusters (1984)

Sun, 08 Jul 2018 21:20:29 +0000

Who you gonna call? Cross? Gordy? Probably not, but then you can at least come join us as we talk all things Ghostbusters. It forms part of Cross' Top 10 and it felt appropriate to get in about that!

We cover all sorts from which 'Buster we relate to the most, right through to all our fond memories and general all round good times! A 'Halcyon Days' movie for sure! Hope you enjoy the episode. Please help us by rating us on iTunes and sharing with your friends!

S03E20: Pulp Fiction (1994)

Sun, 01 Jul 2018 15:22:09 +0000

Come find out what's in Cross n' Gordy's briefcase. It's certainly not the soul of some crazy gangster. We check out and reminisce about Quentin Tartantino's second flick and it forms part of Gordy's always robust Top 5.

Hope you enjoy the episode! If you've the time or inclination a review on iTunes and a share with your friends is always appreciated.

S03E19: Jurassic Park (1993) & Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Sun, 24 Jun 2018 22:08:10 +0000

Life... finds a way. And so do Cross and Gordy, this time on the back of an underwhelming Fallen Kingdom viewing we decided to go back to where it all began! Hope you enjoy the episode, please leave us a rating on iTunes and share with your friends.

S03E18: Alien (1979)

Sun, 17 Jun 2018 17:00:00 +0000

Audience selection time, and it's thanks to Campbell Read this week that we get to revisit Ridley Scott's Alien.

A movie that presumably everybody is well versed in, and if not, that's something that needs to be rectified! Hope you enjoy the podcast and let us know what you think by way of Twitter and Facebook. And leave us a comment and review on iTunes too!

Remember, in space no one can hear Cross scream... or something.

S03E17: Bring It On (2000)

Sun, 10 Jun 2018 17:30:00 +0000

Naturally, Cross must follow up Maniac Cop with something suitably contrary. So here we have the 2000 release Bring It On.

Comedy and cheerleaders, what could possibly go wrong with such a podcast!

Hope you enjoy the episode! Please do leave a comment on Facebook, catch us on Twitter and leave a rating on iTunes. And most of all, let your movie fan friends know about us.

S03E16: Maniac Cop (1988)

Sun, 03 Jun 2018 18:00:00 +0000

Back to our usual output. An old movie that we want to roll before the mic. This week Gordy throws Matt Cordell into the ring with the William Lustig directed Maniac Cop.

A good ol' slice of 80s 'nostalgia'. Hope you enjoy the episode, and as always we appreciate your support, your iTunes reviews and your sharing with friends!

S03E15: Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

Sun, 27 May 2018 20:22:09 +0000

Another day, another Star Wars flick it seems! Opinions have been all over the place both in the '3 Men' studio and further afield. This time it's the turn of Han, Chewie, Lando and a good few new additions including Emilia Clarke's Kira.

We speak candidly and all manner of spoilers so tread carefully... so much so it's better to probably go watch it and then come back and hang with us. Let us know what you think and absolutely rate us on iTunes and share with your friends. Punch it!

S03E14: Cobra Kai (2018)

Sun, 20 May 2018 17:00:00 +0000

We're still the Ace Degenerates! Just had to give an episode over to the new YouTube series Cobra Kai. A follow up of sorts that we've all been waiting for!

This is arguably the most fun we've had recording a podcast. And all we'll say is that if you have even the slightest modicum of love for The Karate Kid, that you'll LOVE this new series! And you'll most likely LOVE the pod too. Cardigan = Winning!

Please do leave feedback, give us an iTunes rating and also tell your friends.

S03E13: Why We Love Movies

Sun, 13 May 2018 19:00:00 +0000

A little bit of a different episode this week. Gordy and Cross set aside their differences from last week to get into a (somewhat) rambling discussion on why we just love movies!

I'm sure you'll agree with at least a bit of the chat here and where you don't let us know why not! Hope you enjoy it! In the meantime, look forward to the next few weeks where we'll be hitting up some old flicks once more. Please share, rate and tell your mates too!

S03E12: The Thin Red Line v Saving Private Ryan

Sun, 06 May 2018 17:00:00 +0000

Lets Get Ready To Rumble... It's TIME! A face off for the ages beckon. For longer than Gordy cares to remember, Cross has banged on about Thin Red being better than Private Ryan.

So we decided to commit it to the podcast and settle it once and for all!

We hope you enjoy it, and we'd love to hear which side of the fence you fall on? Please share with others and please leave a review if you can too. We'll be back next week, if murder wasn't committed during this episode.

S03E11: A Quiet Place (2018)

Sun, 29 Apr 2018 18:30:00 +0000

A Quiet Place is not being too quiet at the Box Office. So the '3 Men' take a look, and not so quietly. Which way will they roll on this massively popular new release and the associated cinema etiquette that appears to be associated with it.

Starring real life couple, John Krasinski (who also directs and writes) and Emily Blunt as well as the simply awesome Millicent Simmonds, it's worth checking out and it's definitely worth having a listen to us pair! Hope you enjoy and please rate and share as you see appropriate.

S03E10: Annihilation (2018)

Sun, 22 Apr 2018 17:00:00 +0000

Gordy and Cross take a dabble in the world we now live with the Netflix release Alex Garland's 'Annihilation'. It wasn't afforded a cinema release beyond the States and came straight to instant streaming.

Have a listen and see what we made of the movie and also this Brave New World of movie releases. Hope you enjoy the episode! Please feel free to share us with your friends and leave us a review on iTunes.

S03E09: Big Stan (2007)

Sun, 15 Apr 2018 17:00:00 +0000

Gordy and Cross recently went to see Rob Schneider live during the Glasgow Comedy Festival. Upon meeting him, we asked him what movie of his he'd like us to do a podcast on and he chose 'Big Stan'. When duty calls... the Men answer! Prison Rape Comedy at it's finest!

It was a movie we'd never heard of, and one he described as really difficult to get made, have a listen and see what you think? If you could share our content and leave a review on iTunes it would be most appreciated.

S03E08: Ready Player One (2018)

Sun, 08 Apr 2018 12:03:20 +0000

Gordy and Cross escape the mundane constraints of modern life with a trip to the Oasis courtesy of Steven Spielberg and Ernest Cline.

They ponder digital brothels, avatars and licensing issues.

Hope you enjoy the episode and as always let us know what you think and share with your friends!

S03E07: Star Wars: The Last Jedi 2.0

Sun, 01 Apr 2018 17:00:00 +0000

So with the impending home media release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi we thought we should throw out this episode from the archive.

Gordy and Cross both hit The Last Jedi one more time. There's been an opinion shift in The Force, guess who?

Hope you enjoy the episode! Please share, review and tell your friends as you see fit.

May The Force be with you, always.

S03E06: Before Sunrise (1995)

Sun, 25 Mar 2018 17:00:00 +0000

This is the second week running we've done an Audience Selection. And you know what... why not!

Lynn Montgomery-Hawke selected this little Richard Linklater ditty from 1995. Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy) cross paths and spend just 24 hours together in Vienna.

She was worried about what Gordy would make of it, however she suggested she was sure Cross would like it. How will they roll with it? Hope you enjoy the episode Lynn, and also to everyone else out there, we had a great time recording it!

As always, please review us on iTunes and tell your friends!

S03E05: Duel (1971)

Mon, 19 Mar 2018 21:07:04 +0000

Another audience selection this week. So it's a thank you Dave Brindle for his nice little selection of some very early Spielberg action with Duel. Cross and Gordy talk it out and as usual end up off piste at many different points. Though a thoroughly enjoyable chat it was. Hope you all enjoy the episode and especially Dave!

S03E04: Blade & Black Panther

Sun, 11 Mar 2018 20:55:57 +0000

Gordy and Cross have both hit Black Panther in recent weeks, but also had the fortune to hit Blade on 35mm as part of the Glasgow Film Festival.

It felt apt to compare and contrast and discuss the latest Marvel superhero flick! With the added cultural significance that seems to be in tow with it. Hope you enjoy!

As usual, share, review, tell your friends and feedback to us your thoughts! x

S03E03: The Rules of Attraction (2002)

Sun, 04 Mar 2018 10:57:21 +0000

One of Gordy's favourite movies of all time comes to the 3 Man Table this week. It's one Cross had seen at release, however he'd forgotten enough of it to warrant a revisit.

Based on Bret Easton Ellis' novel of the same name we tackle The Rules of Attraction. Written and Directed by Roger Avary and starring a post-Dawson's Creek Van Der Beek. As well as Shannyn Sossamon, Ian Somerhalder and Kip Pardue.

Moral choices and life experiences come into the discussions as well as the usual nonsense. As usual, any feedback, reviews, comment and suggestions for future output is always appreciated! Happy listening folks.

S03E02: The Belko Experiment (2016)

Sun, 25 Feb 2018 20:41:19 +0000

At some point in almost all our lives we've experienced frustration with our work colleagues. Maybe The Belko Experiment offers the perfect solution to address that aggro... In any case Gordy and Cross get into it, chatting over this movie from the director of Wolf Creek and the writer of Guardians of the Galaxy.

S03E01: T1 v T2

Sun, 18 Feb 2018 18:48:58 +0000

As Arnie said he'd be back, so did we. So here we are, kicking of the new season with a retrospective look at the Terminator Franchise (we only recognise two of them as Canon).

More specifically Gordy and Cross have differing opinions on which of the two is the superior. It's great to be back, we hope you enjoy!

S02E22: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 22:06:59 +0000

Gordy and Cross, as they did with The Force Awakens, hit the midnight showing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. What would the verdict be?

***Disclaimer*** Gordy has now seen it twice and his verdict has changed significantly.

S02E21: Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 23:09:45 +0000

Gordy and Cross hit up the newly released Blade Runner 2049 as part of our ongoing Hot Take series.

Both fans of the original 1982 movie, how would this new Denis Villeneuve effort be received?

*SPOILERS EVERYWHERE*

S02E20: Hudson Hawk (1991)

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 23:43:54 +0000

"Be open minded." Cross said. Gordy was open minded.

Did that lead to Cross success with his choice of Hudson Hawk, a Bruce Willis movie from the early 90s that had passed Gordy by.

S02E19: What We Do In The Shadows (2014)

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 22:31:55 +0000

Audience selection once again, and it's thanks to Kirsty McGregor who has requested that Gordy and Cross get together to watch What We Do In The Shadows.

Directed by Taika Waititi (Wilderpeople and Thor: Ragnarok) it follows the daily lives of a group of vampiric flatmates and the struggles they face.

Would this mockumentary go down better with Gordy than Spinal Tap did? And Cross was already a convert... would it be a united thumbs up?

S02018: Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D (2017)

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 21:27:14 +0000

Gordy and Cross revisit peak Cameron and Schwarzenegger with a big screen outing for T2 3D!

They were both fans (who wouldn't be) but how would this reassessment pan out?

S02E17: Hounds Of Love (2017)

Fri, 18 Aug 2017 14:26:26 +0000

Cross and Gordy venture to the Australian suburbs of 1987 to 'enjoy' the inspired by real life Hounds of Love. Last time we journeyed to Australia was for Wake In Fright. Will this be any less traumatic...

S02E16: Baby Driver (2017)

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 15:44:01 +0000

Baby Driver has been quite the success story as things have turned out. A few weeks ago and fresh from having seen it, Gordy and Cross talked it out. Gordy has generally taken a stance against Edgar Wright considering him vastly overrated amongst other things, whilst Cross has been a staunch fan and loving most, if not all of the output. Which side of the fence will they fall on with this one?

S02E15: Dunkirk (2017)

Sun, 23 Jul 2017 17:00:00 +0000

Cross and Gordy hot from a Friday night show of Dunkirk share their initial thoughts on Christopher Nolan's latest.

S02E15: Christopher Nolan

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 17:00:00 +0000

Ahead of the imminent release of Dunkirk, Gordy & Cross discuss Christopher Nolan's career so far.

S02E14: The Neverending Story (1984)

Sun, 25 Jun 2017 17:00:00 +0000

"Reach the stars, Fly a fantasy, Dream a dream and what you see will be"

Gordy does his absolute superhuman best to get The Men to do what they dream this week.

S02E13: Something WIld (1986)

Sun, 11 Jun 2017 16:00:00 +0000

Criminally overlooked on its initial release, Jonathan Demme's spirited yuppie nightmare gem features early turns from Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels, and also features Ray Liotta in his screen debut. Will Gordy & Cross be wild about it..?

S02E12: Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011)

Sun, 21 May 2017 15:41:43 +0000

Gordy naturally slides from Weird Science to Martha Marcy May Marlene. Elizabeth Olsen delivered a remarkable performance in her debut. And John Hawkes is sublime. With some cult dynamics and a little speculation that it's a way of life Cross would like (minus the most unsavoury moments... obviously)

It wasn't widely seen, but very much well worth a watch. And Gordy with a *GOOD MOVIE ALERT* klaxon (Cheers Mitch! But all my movies are AWESOME) it's well worth a listen.

S02E11: Four Lions (2010)

Sun, 07 May 2017 11:45:48 +0000

Cross invites Mitch and Gordy to partake in some uneasy laughs with his selection of Chris Morris' Four Lions. A comedy about terrorism..!

S02E10: The Philadelphia Story (1940)

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 14:37:07 +0000

Mitch invites Gordy & Cross to experience some old school Hollywood class in the shape of George Cukor's timeless tale of celebrity culture, 'art vs money' and the search for true love, as Cary Grant 's C.K. Dexter Haven crashes the wedding of his ex-wife Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn). Will they be raising a toast, or raising objections?

S02E09: The Sweetest Thing (2002)

Sun, 23 Apr 2017 12:17:44 +0000

Chosen by listener Callie Howard. A feel-good favourite of hers it's a riotous tale of girls behaving badly, and she expects Gordy to titter, Cross to blush and Mitch to get the rage. How did her predictions pan out..?

S02E08: Weird Science (1985)

Sun, 16 Apr 2017 11:54:58 +0000

Gordy takes us to 1985 and 15 year old adolescence. John Hughes' Weird Science is generally speaking fondly remembered in all quarters... will it be so for Mitch and Cross too?

And at the end of the day, if you were 15 and had the capability to create your own woman, this is how you'd roll? No?

S02E07: Train To Busan (2016)

Sun, 09 Apr 2017 13:16:39 +0000

Gordy and Mitch hop on to Cross' Train To Busan. Chaos ensues... But is it agreeable chaos?

S02E06: Martyrs (2008)

Sun, 02 Apr 2017 14:43:43 +0000

Pascal Laugier's arthouse torture-porn movie has divided audiences and critics alike since its release in 2008. Will it unite the Three Men?

S02E05: John Carpenter - Part 2

Sun, 26 Mar 2017 13:59:40 +0000

S02E03: Child's Play (1988)

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 16:44:46 +0000

Hi, I'm Gordy. Wanna play?

That's the question that the precocious Gordy has asked of Mitch (known to suffer from Pediophobia) and Cross. We go to the origin story of our favourite pint sized killer doll. The many sequels have become notorious for a variety of reasons, but how does the original stand up to the 3 Men scrutiny? Will they all be friends till the end?

S02E02: This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

Sun, 19 Feb 2017 17:50:14 +0000

1984 brought us many fine things but This is Spinal Tap surely ranks among the finest. Its genuine charm and affection for the subject matter is a joy to behold even as they exploit with subtle wit every code and convention the documentary genre and the 80's heavy Rock scene has to offer.

Gordy, of course, hadn't seen it. Surely he, being a Hard Rock fan, would love it.....?

S02E01: The Iron Giant (1999)

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 18:45:16 +0000

Adapted from Poet Laureate Ted Hughes' book, The Iron Man, and directed by Brad Bird, this week's movie never really found the audience it deserved on initial release. Mitch loves it to bits, but what will Gordy and Cross make of it?

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 13:20:23 +0000

Marking the feature film debuts of both Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix, 1985's Explorers failed spectacularly during initial release. Cross brings it to the table to find out whether it deserves a place in our collective '80s hearts.

Cross was already an established fan, but would it pass the Mitch Laugh Count Test? Perhaps more crucially, does it feature the mute child trope that Gordy (allegedly) loves so dearly?

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 16:16:08 +0000

Cross invites Gordy & Mitch on a hazy, rambling and dope-fogged detective yarn circa 1970 courtesy of Paul Thomas Anderson. Sun, 16 Oct 2016 17:00:00 +0000

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 19:16:25 +0000

Widely regarded as the pinnacle of mainstream '80s Hollywood movie-making, striking a perfect balance between commercial considerations and the exploration of the human condition through art. Well, by Cross & Mitch anyway. Gordy's watching it for the first time - will he agree?

Episode 22: Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 10:51:16 +0000

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 15:42:21 +0000

Mitch has selected this testosterone-fuelled British thriller starring Stanley Baker as a tough as nails truck driver pitting his nerve against Patrick McGoohan. It's new to both Gordy & Cross, and although it's a little too criminally overlooked to be regarded as a classic, it is in black & white so what will they make of it?
