In this talk, we’ll take a high-level look at two ways we can implement role based access control in our Angular applications, the pros and cons of each approach, and how to decide on the right approach for the app you are building.
Ado leads the evangelism team at Auth0 and is a Google Developer Expert for Web Technologies. Mixing his passion of programming and education, he loves creating tutorials, talks, courses, and other content focusing on security, authentication, and much more. On the front-end, he is team Angular all the way, while on the backend he flip-flops between Node.js and Golang.

]]>Hacking you say? Yes, I do, but this type of hacking has nothing to do with hooking in Matrix style or surfing through The Gibson at Ellingson Mineral Company. Nope, this type of hacking involves how we as developers, create the illusion of fast load times for our Web applications. Performance is gaining much visibility in the industry and catering to the needs of the user, there are many things we can do to facilitate that need. This talk will focus on ways we can make things appear to be faster than they are and ways to avoid having to play Houdini entirely.
Chris DeMars is a front end developer from Detroit, Michigan now living in Denver, Colorado. For his community contributions, he holds awards as a Microsoft MVP in developer technologies, Google Developer Expert in web technologies, and is an Oracle Groundbreaker Ambassador. Chris loves coming up with solutions for all types of applications, which include modular, CSS architectures, performance, and advocating for web accessibility. When he is not working on making the web great and inclusive you can find him writing blog posts, recording episodes of his podcast, Tales From The Script, or watching horror movies.

]]>Let us pretend we are having a profound moment of trust right now and I want to ask you a question.
How many automated tests have been written for the Angular application you are currently working on?
No need to get sheepish on me… EVERYONE needs to write more tests.
Now let me ask you a “magic wand” question. What if you could write an E2E test as easily as you could verbally explain to someone how the feature is supposed to work? More importantly, what if non-technical stakeholders could create E2E tests by simply telling you what the test should do?
Automated E2E testing is critical to your development release cycle because software quality is of utmost importance despite the fact that humans do not scale. We should not let a human being do what a robot can do perfectly every single time.
In this talk, you will learn how to produce incredible value to your organization by creating an army of robots to ensure that your application works as advertised. More importantly, you will see how to streamline this entire process by creating a human approachable layer around the entire thing. Even though we have a legion of robots, we can still talk to them like they are humans.

In this talk, Bonnie and Philip will summarize everything you need to know about Bazel and how you can get started!
Over the course of a dozen years of building software, Philip Fulcher has traveled through the swamps of PHP only to arrive at the jungle of JavaScript. He currently leads teams around the world as a frontend software architect. Philip lives in Colorado with his wife (who is much smarter than him) and two great kids.

But not every project is the same, and the defaults provided by the CLI may not fit your teams particular use case. Thankfully the CLI has some nice hooks to extend the built in behavior and tailor it to fit your needs!

When he’s not working Ionic itself, Mike works with community members and helps them succeed at mobile. In his spare time, he’s an aspiring woodworker, occasional musician, and craft beer lover.

]]>I work to ensure that digital products cannot be be used as tools of abuse, and share my findings with other people who create digital products. This work involves research of how technology both enables abuse and fails to recognize user behavior that indicates abuse, resulting in a lost opportunity to offer meaningful support. I’m intentional about providing clear, true (and always anonymous) examples, and aim to provide a concrete set of steps that people who work in tech can take to build products that won’t result in harm against their users.
My talk, Designing Against Domestic Violence, is the culmination of this research and the first step of a larger project to reduce harm in the world through centering the safety of victims of domestic violence. I call this work “designing for inclusive safety.” If you want to support me in this work, please visit my Patreon page.
I spend my non-design time consuming any zombie-related media I can get my hands on, creating cyanotype prints, and hanging out with my dogs, Hamlet and Horatio.
Cyanotypes are one-of-a-kind blue prints that result from a historical process that blends photography and printmaking. My prints feature botanicals and fabrics from meaningful spaces. I sell the best ones on Etsy.
I write about technology, design, justice, mental health, minimalism and more on Medium.
