The best weddings have everyone both laughing and crying, and this was indeed the best. Victoria and Nick began their wedding celebrations by inviting both their families to stay with them in a lovely little castle in Mill Valley for the weekend. It was the perfect way to spend some quality time together, and it was the perfect place for them all to get ready for the wedding day. From the morning through to the afternoon, everyone was wonderfully present, and it all felt beautiful and heartfelt. It was a delight to photograph them all.

Mama and her daughter, getting ready.

A lovely low-key first look.

Immediate smiles

and tears.

The flower girl and ringbearers were very charming and nearly stole the show.

Victoria and Nick reserved the Mayor’s Balcony for their ceremony.

I know most folks photoshop out every single other person in their wedding photos and I do that too to many of the images, but I also love the layers of weddings that happen in this beautiful building. San Francisco City Hall is truly special, and we are all so lucky to experience it in this way.

Married!!

A wonderful joining of families.

Congratulations, Vic & Nick. I can’t wait to see you all again for part two, soon!

Nikki is a wonderful designer, and I’ve known her for over a decade, as she did my branding back then. It was so wonderful to photograph her and her family while they were visiting from Texas. We met up at Point Lobos for some seaside portraits on their grand road trip along the California coast. The weather was frigid to these Texas girls in their cute dresses, but we managed to get some beautiful photographs regardless, and the little one even smiled a few times, haha.

Another monthly recap, a year later. Lots of dining out and last times going places as a couple before we added the third to our trio!

Liholiho with Cindy & Vince

Their Baked Hawaii, a tasty play on the Baked Alaska.

Checking out Draymond Green’s new restaurant Meski

A visit to our favorite ayce hotpot, Sea Pot.

I was sewing up a storm, making ten outfits for bb and three for me in two months.

Ruth Asawa Retrospective at SFMOMA. Really inspiring. A very creative woman all around. She’s left a lasting legacy here in San Francisco.

I started knitting a baby romper that I still never finished… Here I was working on it when I had to go in for jury duty, but I definitely got dismissed and did not have to serve once I said I was 9 months pregnant. Went and treated myself to nearby Vietnamese afterwards.

Tunnel Tops with the Garrisons

Colibri Mexican Bistro in the Presidio afterwards. And a Valkyries game!

One of the maternity outfits I sewed myself, just duplicating an outfit I had purchased.

And making baby a matching dress and leggings in the same fabric.

Her pineapple romper that I knit from materials purchased in Minneapolis.

Her grey separates, knit on our babymoon on the Mendocino coast. And a look at all the outfits I made her before she was born.

Lunch with the grandparents!

A bubble romper made from my Japanese pattern book I found in Tokyo and cotton double gauze from Joann’s going out of business sale.

Our quarterly HOPR group date! I made Courtney’s baby a Tiny Tiles quilt like we all have for our babies. The fifth one I’ve made so far.

Cassie, Michael, and Courtney

Alex, Alex, and me

Another bubble romper from my Japanese pattern book. Also with Joann’s fabric.

The fruits from my baby shower all came back! Such a cute mix, and baby really loved staring at it from very early on.

My mom and aunt looking over all of my Taiwanese cookbooks.

Bodega.

Cooking up lots of reserves: beef noodle soup

Cod potato chowder

Short Rib stew

And sewing one last outfit for myself, in linen from Stonemountain & Daughter.

Peng You x Mahjong Project pop-up at Standard Deviant Brewing. Very nice gathering with friends!

And that’s it for June! We’ll see if I ever post from July on, or that might be it for the personal posts. Thanks for reading!

Karen and Hadi did not let the rain stop them from some beautiful wedding day portraits at Sutro Baths before their City Hall ceremony. I love these misty, romantic moments against the epic backdrop of the sea.

Later, we regrouped inside the beautiful building of San Francisco City Hall for an intimate ceremony with just a few of their friends and family members.

Still finding new angles and delighting in the uniqueness of every one of these couples!

Congratulations, Karen & Hadi!

Hello, May of last year! It was a busy month of travels and gatherings, but we start the at-home adventures with Taiwan Day at the SF Giants.

Cute Taiwan bear bobbleheads this year!

We had a wonderful personal block of Taiwanese Americans joining us for the annual night out.

The ‘popcorn chicken’ looked like donut holes and took ages to get (missed a whole inning waiting). Special event food is not really their strong suit. We caught a free t-shirt though.

Great crew!

Sweet treats. Flour + Water Pizza Shop soft serve / Sunny Hills pineapple cake.

Watching the Warriors in an away game in the playoffs. We went to the new Splash sports bar in Thrive City.

Alex ran a half marathon on the Bay Bridge. So we went to the expo in Oakland and stopped by Benchmark Climbing’s event afterwards. They had some funny problems, like this one that you have to climb while wearing oven mitts. Cheeseboard for lunch!

I also visited my favorite fabric shop in Berkeley — Stonemountain and Daughters. Got two knit fabrics to make outfits for myself.

Arts & crafts prep for my baby shower — making felt fruit kits for baby’s mobile.

Got a mani pedi and ran into these friends at the nail shop!

Hand embroidered some caps for grandma and grandpa-to-be.

Lots of furniture assembly with friends’ help.

I just tried to copy some H&M maternity outfits that I liked into new outfits with the fabrics I bought. I had never done this before, but I guess I assumed it wasn’t that hard.

I ended up wearing these a lot! I guess they turned out ok.

Portrait session time! Hair & makeup by Fiona Tsang, and photos by bestie Cassie Valente. See the session here!

Celebratory mozz sticks after the photo session and baby shower. And my brother came to help build the crib that he got for baby.

Knitting a pineapple romper with the yarn that I got in Minneapolis! And blocking the finished pieces.

Grand opening of Batch 22 Bakery in Los Gatos! Love these pudge cookies.

Home opener for the Golden State Valkyries! Proud to be two of the over 10,000 founding members in this inaugural seasons.

Very fun, unbeatable energy.

City Connect pre-game activations in the new park across the water from the ballpark

The Garrisons came up for dog day! Dog and toddler together makes for quite a lot of wrangling.

Here’s my second self-drafted maternity outfit. Also wore this one a ton!

Bumpin along with my beloved client Amanda for her maternity session, and we had our babies the same month. Their session was my last one before going on leave, which felt perfect!

Prime rib afterwards!

Birthday dinner for my father in law.

Casting on some grey separates for baby, and meeting up with Rebecca for lunch at the new Valley Goat by Stephanie Izard.

Jeri came over to organize and help donate/give away/sell all of my extra stuff! Here she’s doing my crafts, but she also did all of my clothes and other things too. She thinks it’s fun! This woman is incredible!

Birth center tour! And dinner with Stephanie and James, who were in town for the Stray Kids concert.

More yarn for my projects (left) and Cassie’s projects (right). Plus Girls’ massage day!

Front row to Hillary Hahn at the SF Symphony.

Tasty pop ups at Golden Goat Coffee. I think this was Lunar Bakeshop?

Chronicle Books’ annual 80% off warehouse sale. We got a whole bunch of stuff for free and very cheap!

Vince made us kong xin cai and sticky rice. Very delicious.

And a couple videochats from the month– my regular check-in with Tiffany in Sydney.

And a meeting about TAF Hubs, as I am now leading SF Bay Area for the TAF alumni network!

For our babymoon, we returned to one of our favorite spots: the Harbor House Inn, a beautiful two-Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel on the Mendocino Coast. We had already visited Harbor House for lunch on when we got engaged and returned for dinner on a second trip, and now we would complete the experience with the full hotel stay, and of course a few more meals. It was the perfect getaway for the occasion, filled with slow days, indulgent meals, and a  wonderful sense of peace.

Our first stop on the road trip was at Tenfold Farmstand in Petaluma, with a very cute bakery pop-up an the airstream in the front.  So charming!

Lunch was at Spud Point Crab Company.

Over to a old favorite, the Sea Ranch Lodge.

We visited The Loft, a yarn shop in Gualala. I picked up three balls of very slightly pink yarn, which I just recently completed knitting into a cabled cardigan for baby.

Then we finally made our way up to the town of Elk and checked in at the Harbor House Inn. We stayed in the main house, in a beautiful wood paneled room.

We took advantage of the in-room dining option and got to enjoy our dinner at our own pace in our own room. Perfect for a super pregnant lady!

Everything is presented on a lovely tray.

So, so wonderful!

We wandered outside after dinner to enjoy the sunset from this special spot on the coast.

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Got engaged back here!

The hammock has been replaced by a bench, but the views are still the same.

And I was knitting a little top for baby all along the babymoon.

Waking up at Harbor House is also a special treat. We were treated to breakfast each morning.

Very pretty omelette!

And there are beautiful cows across the street too.

We drove inland a tiny bit to visit Drew Winery. Well, Alex did a tasting while I just tagged along.

Next, a visit to a couple shops in the very tiny town of Elk.

We picked up lunch and brought it back to the back patio of Harbor House. Might as well soak up these views as much as humanly possible!

Dinner for night two was at Gama, a little Japanese izakaya in neighboring Point Arena.

A fun self portrait on the cliffs of Point Arena.

Sunset by the sea. Really lovely.

Crossing the threshold between entryway and lounge. It’s very fun to feel like this lauded restaurant is your home.

We were just hanging out by the fire when chef/owner Matthew Kammerer came by to show us the books about the history of this place. And then I spotted my clients walking out of the restaurant from across the room. So funny, I love it. She was also expecting and due around the same time as me!

Another morning, another wonderful breakfast.

Today we went over to shop around in the town of Mendocino.

And then we finally made it all the way down the little staircase behind Harbor House to get to their little beach cove. Wow, third time here and first time actually walking down there. It was so fun beachcombing.

I made a little collection of fun treasures.

Another wonderful in-room dinner.

Final morning: breakfast in the dining room, then journaling and knitting out on the back porch.

Then it was time to head out from our stay. This time we took the inland route through Anderson Valley.

We picked up some fancy juice from Navarro, which makes the most fantastic nonalcoholic pinot noir and gewurztraminer grape juices.

A visit to the little apple farm as well.

Lunch at new-to-us Jumbo’s Win Win, a great burger spot from a former Trick Dog partner.

A stop by the Boonville Hotel gift shop. We previously stayed here and had a wonderful time too.

And finally, a visit to Healdsburg. We always stop in to the same shops, and it’s wonderful.

Finally, we trekked back to San Francisco and on to our merry lives. This was such a special trip during a special time. Love, love, love!

We had a lovely little fruit-themed baby shower on Mother’s Day last year. Of course it involved lots of arts & crafts, and I even made people do some homework for baby. A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who came and participated in welcoming baby into our community!

Thank you to Courtney and Steph for helping to set up my fruit backdrop wall.

I invited our friends to help make a fruit mobile for baby! I assembled the felt pieces and some rough instructions, and let everyone sign themselves up for some homework, sewing these at home!

Can you tell what these will be? Scroll all the way to the end to see the finished mobile.

Thank you to Stephanie for helping me create this lovely flower bar for Mother’s Day! She also helped us turn our wedding florals into Mother’s Day Bouquets a couple years prior. Putting her floral skills to good use! Also, it was very sweet to have a baby shower on Mother’s Day. Thanks to all the other mamas for spending the afternoon with us too.

Fruit bar for the fruit theme, thanks to Jackson and Courtney!

And a million peach kit kats and funny snacks from Muji thanks to our recent trip back to Tokyo. Hello Auntie Courtney and little Enzo, then just six months old!

We also had a name-guessing station and a task sign-up board for things like helping us to assemble furniture.

Courtney and Jeri helped make this coloring book activity for the littles, creating a fruit-themed alphabet book for baby!

Showing off some of baby’s handmade wardrobe.

And opening some gifts!

Every fruit was accounted for in the end! And everyone did such a wonderful job! Baby really loved her fruit mobile. Such a wonderful gift from the community.
