I was invited to talk in the “Good Morning San Francisco” talkshow about the potential of (e-)bicycle transportation in the Los Angeles area, highlighting the LA River Path Project for LA Metro, of which Bike-minded is proud to be part of the design and engineering team. Also I talked about the Dutch Mobility Week in LA and Seattle that we are organising together with the Dutch Consulate in San Francisco, the Dutch Cycling Embassy and other Dutch Transportation focussed companies. Go (e-)cycling in LA! #NLUSA #digitalemissie Dutch Cycling Embassy Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition
Cycling keeps people moving during the corona crisis and many cities around the world quickly open up more streets and public space for cyclists and pedestrians. These short term mobility experiments can demonstrate the benefits of bicycling mobility, for instance by enabling people to commute by bike. It is really a great opportunity to develop these bicycle networks into permanent safe, direct and attractive bicycle networks for a sustainable, healthy and fun future! This article is about how the Dutch Cycling Embassy and Bike-minded work with cities around the world to make this happen. #cycling #Dutchcyling
]]>Voorbeeldenboek Fiets – Toewerken naar het structureler meenemen van de fiets in rijksprojecten
The first hard copy of the book was presented to Minister Stientje van Veldhoven on February 20th 2020.
Rijkswaterstaat (Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) assigned Bike-minded to develop and design “Voorbeeldenboek Fiets”, an inpirational book about the role and potential of the bicycle in large scale national infrastructure projects. The goal is to embed the knowlegde -and thinking- about bicycle mobility in the minds of people working at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and other people involved in national infrastructure projects, such as high ways, ring roads, river crossings, tunnels, railways et cetera. The book consists general insights and lessons about implementing the bicycle in projects mentioned above, and a number of case studies that illustrate what bicycle measures are part of the project and what it took to realise those. Bike-minded collaborated with Marlies Bielderman, a strategic research and co-creation expert to realise this inspirational book.
We are proud to be part of one of the biggest cycling infrastructure design challenges of this moment: the LA River Bike Path project.

]]>The connected future of mobility
On Februari 14th Maurits Lopes Cardozo participated at the MaaS Summit -Mobility as a Service- at the Connekt & Dutch Cycling Embassy headquarters in Delft. Kaj Pyyhtiä, Chief Customer Experience Officer of MaaS Global revealed the philosophy of the Finnish startup Whim and the announcement that the first MaaS will start operation this year in the Netherlands -Amsterdam-. Bikeminded contributed to de discussion about the role of the bicycle in MaaS as a reaction to the presentations of Vialis (Willem Hartman) en Swapfiets (Steven Uitentuis). The bicycle will play a key role in MaaS systems in the Netherlands. The challenge is how to integrate the bicycle in the connected system of mobility providers. I predict we will need more share bikes in the Netherlands in the near future to answer to the big demand for bicycles by MaaS operators and users. Interesting developments!
