Arlechinii AWRC vs Pontllanffraith RFC brought together two clubs united by a shared passion for rugby and the values that make our sport unique. On a beautiful 6th of June, Arlechinii After Work Rugby Club had the pleasure of welcoming our friends from Wales for another memorable international fixture, strengthening the friendships that rugby creates across borders.

It was a physical encounter from the very first whistle, with both teams embracing the challenge and leaving nothing behind. Our Welsh visitors proved to be determined and uncompromising opponents, making every phase a real battle. Every tackle, scrum, ruck, and lineout reflected the commitment and determination of two teams eager to test themselves while playing the game in the right spirit.

The Arlechinii AWRC vs Pontllanffraith RFC fixture delivered exactly what everyone hopes for from international amateur rugby: intensity, passion, teamwork, and mutual respect. Our visitors brought energy and true rugby spirit throughout the match, while Arlechinii matched that commitment from the opening kick-off until the final whistle. After … minutes of hard, uncompromising rugby, the smiles at the end of the game said enough—but more importantly, so did the respect shared between two clubs brought together by the values of our sport.

As always, the match was only part of the day. The conversations, laughter, and camaraderie that followed reminded everyone why rugby is more than just a game. Friendships were strengthened, stories were exchanged, and both teams enjoyed the traditional third half together, celebrating the bonds that rugby creates regardless of nationality or the scoreboard.

We would like to thank Pontllanffraith RFC for making the journey to Romania, for the commitment they showed throughout the match, and for the friendship they shared both on and off the field. We look forward to meeting again in the future for another chapter in the growing relationship between our clubs.

Arlechinii AWRC vs Pontllanffraith RFC was a day that perfectly captured the spirit of rugby: respect, friendship, commitment, and unforgettable memories.

Arlechinii AWRC – Stronger together.

Gosford All Blacks RFC Return to Bucharest

The visit of Gosford All Blacks RFC to Bucharest was more than just another international rugby fixture for Arlechinii AWRC. It was a reunion with a club that occupies a special place in our history.

Many years ago, Gosford All Blacks RFC were our opponents in the very first international match ever played by Arlechinii. For many of our players, that game marked the beginning of an incredible journey that would see our club build friendships and rugby connections across Europe.

That is why welcoming Gosford back to Bucharest for a second visit was such a special occasion.

More Than a Game

Every rugby player enjoys the challenge of competition, the physical battles, and the excitement of scoring tries. Yet what makes rugby special is everything that happens beyond the final whistle.

Throughout the weekend, players, coaches, supporters, and friends came together to share stories, experiences, and laughter. New friendships were formed, old rugby traditions were celebrated, and everyone involved was reminded that rugby creates connections that extend far beyond the field.

A Tough Challenge on the Pitch

As expected, Gosford All Blacks RFC brought intensity, experience, and quality rugby. They gave us a tough day at the office and challenged us in every area of the game.

Matches like these are exactly why international rugby friendships matter. They push us to improve, test ourselves against different styles of play, and continue growing as a club.

More Than Opponents

While the game itself was fiercely contested, what makes this relationship special goes far beyond the final whistle.

Over the years, Gosford All Blacks RFC have become much more than opponents. They are friends of the club and an important part of our international rugby story.

The respect shared between our teams reflects the values that make rugby unique: friendship, camaraderie, and mutual appreciation for the game we all love.

Thank You, Gosford

We would like to thank Gosford All Blacks RFC for returning to Bucharest and for another memorable day of rugby.

You were our first international opponents, and that is something we will never forget. Eleven years later, it remains a great honor and a genuine pleasure to share the pitch with you once again.

Here’s to many more years of rugby, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

International amateur rugby day: Arlechinii AWRC Hosts Wasps RC and Bandar Logs Marseille

This international amateur rugby day hosted by Arlechinii AWRC was much more than a series of rugby matches. It was a celebration of friendship, respect, and the values that make rugby one of the most unique sports in the world.

Over an incredible day in Bucharest, we had the privilege of welcoming two outstanding clubs: Wasps RC, the legendary team from London, and Bandar Logs Marseille, one of the friendliest and most passionate rugby teams we have ever met. Together, we shared not only competitive matches but also unforgettable moments that demonstrated the true spirit of rugby.

Learning From Great Rugby Clubs

Hosting teams from different countries is always an opportunity to learn and grow. Wasps RC brought with them the rich heritage and traditions of English rugby, while Bandar Logs Marseille demonstrated the warmth, enthusiasm, and camaraderie that define the French rugby community.

Both clubs showed exceptional sportsmanship, passion, and respect throughout the weekend. Their attitude on and off the pitch embodied everything that amateur rugby stands for.

The Importance of the Third Half

Rugby has a unique culture often referred to as the “third half”—the time after the match when opponents become friends, share a meal, and celebrate the game together.

This weekend was a perfect example of that tradition. While the matches were fiercely contested, the atmosphere afterward reflected the values that unite rugby players around the world: respect, friendship, humility, and enjoyment.

Thank You, Friends

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Wasps RC and Bandar Logs Marseille for making this amateur rugby weekend such a memorable experience.

Thank you for the rugby, the friendship, the conversations, and the memories. You reminded us that rugby is not just about hits, tackles, and tries—it is about people coming together, building lasting friendships, and enjoying every moment along the way.

You will always have a special place in the hearts of the Arlechinii family, and we look forward to meeting again in the future.

Until next time, our friends.

Mill Hill RFC Returns to Bucharest for Another Memorable Rugby Encounter

The recent visit of Mill Hill RFC to Bucharest will undoubtedly remain one of the most memorable moments in the history of Arlechinii AWRC.

More than just a rugby match, the occasion was a celebration of everything that makes our sport special: friendship, camaraderie, respect, and the shared passion that unites rugby players across borders. Once again, our friends from Mill Hill RFC made the journey to Romania, strengthening a relationship that has grown far beyond the eighty minutes played on the field.

From the opening whistle to the final handshake, the match embodied the values that define rugby. Players from both clubs competed fiercely, yet with the mutual respect and sportsmanship that have become hallmarks of this fixture. Supporters, families, and friends gathered to witness another chapter in a growing tradition between two clubs that may be separated by geography but are united by a common love for the game.

What made this occasion even more special was the effort invested in preserving it for future generations of Arlechinii players and supporters. For the first time in our club’s history, a match was recorded from multiple angles and perspectives, creating the most comprehensive visual record ever produced for an Arlechinii fixture.

The result is much more than a match video. It is a historical document that captures the atmosphere, intensity, and emotions of a day that many of us will remember for years to come. Every tackle, every carry, every try, and every moment of celebration can now be relived and shared with current players, former teammates, and future members of our club.

For Arlechinii AWRC, opportunities like this are rare and invaluable. Amateur rugby is built on the dedication of volunteers, players, coaches, supporters, and partner clubs. The ability to showcase our game through such a professional-quality recording is a testament to how far our club has come and to the strong relationships we continue to build within the international rugby community.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event possible. Thank you to the players who gave everything on the pitch, to the supporters who created a fantastic atmosphere, to the volunteers who worked behind the scenes, and especially to our friends from Mill Hill RFC for their continued friendship and commitment to this unique rugby partnership.

As we look back on this remarkable day, we are reminded that rugby is about much more than results. It is about the connections we create, the memories we build, and the experiences we share. The second visit of Mill Hill RFC to Bucharest delivered all of these in abundance.

We hope you enjoy watching the match as much as we enjoyed being part of it.

Here’s to many more encounters, many more friendships, and many more chapters in the story of Arlechinii AWRC and Mill Hill RFC.

Bogi – The Arlechinii Rugby Legend Everyone Talks About

A completely serious article written with zero seriousness

Meet Bogi. Arlechinii Rugby Legend

If you spend more than five minutes around Arlechinii, you will hear about Bogi. Not once. Not twice. Constantly.

Bogi is not just a player. He is one of the best players on the pitch, one of the best party guys after the match, and, above all, the heart and soul of the team. In other words, he is the definition of a complete Arlechin.

Why Bogi Is More Than Just a Rugby Player

First of all, Bogi plays everywhere. Literally.

One moment he tackles like a flanker. Then he passes like a scrum-half. A few seconds later, he celebrates like he just won the World Cup. Because of this, teammates trust him, opponents fear him, and spectators love him.

However, the real reason behind Bogi is not just skill. It is energy.

He lifts people. He creates moments. He turns matches into stories.

And yes… he also organizes the third half before halftime.

When a referee Meets Bogi

At some point, even top referees encounter something unexpected. That moment came for Andrea Piardi.

During a match featuring Arlechinii, everything seemed normal. The game flowed, the calls were precise, and control was absolute.

Then Bogi happened.

Suddenly, one player was everywhere. Tackling, supporting, talking, laughing, leading. Naturally, Piardi did what any professional referee would do.

He blew the whistle.

Not for a foul.
But for clarity.

A Moment of Silence… and Realization

They looked at each other.

No words. Just understanding.

Piardi’s look said:
“How is this even possible?”

Bogi’s look replied:
“Relax. We’re just getting started.”

But then something even stranger happened. For a split second, it wasn’t just about what Bogi was doing on the pitch. It was about who was standing in front of him. Two bald heads. Same intensity. Same presence. Same almost uncanny resemblance.

And suddenly, people started to notice something nobody had ever pointed out before: It wasn’t just that Bogi looked like a typical Arlechinii legend. It was that Andrea Piardi, the referee himself, looked like he could easily be mistaken for Bogi’s long-lost twin who somehow chose the rulebook instead of the rugby ball. The resemblance was unsettling in the best possible way. Like rugby had accidentally duplicated the same character and assigned one to the pitch… and one to control it.

At that moment, the truth became even clearer. The referee was not fully separate from the game anymore. He was staring at a version of the chaos he was trying to contain… that somehow looked just like him. And maybe that was the problem.

Or the beauty of it.

Because now even Piardi seemed, just for a second, like part of the legend himself.

He was witnessing Bogi in action… while also realizing he could almost be him.

The Secret Playbook of Bogi

After the match, rumors say Piardi started analyzing what he had just seen. Step by step. Like a scientist studying a rare phenomenon.

The result?

The Bogi Playbook:

  • Play everywhere
  • Make people better
  • Enjoy every second
  • Lead with heart
  • Never skip the third half

Simple. Effective. Impossible to replicate.

The Real Bogi

So what makes Bogi special?

Yes, he is:

  • One of the best players
  • One of the best party guys
  • A man with a big heart and a big soul

Nevertheless, that is not the full story.

Because behind Bogi stands something even stronger: his family.

Bogi is powered by a beautiful wife who somehow manages to keep a legend grounded, two daughters who already see him as a superhero (with or without the rugby ball), and a loyal black dog who is probably the only one capable of matching his energy after a full match and a full third half.

At home, the legend changes form. The fierce player becomes a dad, a husband, and the guy who still somehow ends up being tackled—this time by his kids in the living room.

Therefore, Bogi represents something bigger. He is not just the player who brings people together on the pitch. He is also the man who lives for the moments off it.

He creates unforgettable memories, spreads energy everywhere he goes, and reminds everyone why they love rugby in the first place.

Because in the end, Bogi is not only about rugby.

It is about life, family, and the people who make every victory matter.

Final Whistle

Rugby has great players.
Rugby has great referees.

But only a few become legends.

Bogi is not just about performance. It is about impact.

And somewhere, on a quiet rugby field, a whistle blows…
Then stops…

Because even the referee is watching.

“Play on… Bogi is doing his thing.”

We kick-off the 2026 season with Ocean Rugby Club at Grivița Stadium, Bucharest, 12:00! 🏉🔥

The season kicks off at Grivița Stadium, Bucharest, 12:00! 🏉🔥

We kick off the season by welcoming our friends from Ocean Rugby Club, Paris. Known for their flair, speed, and unmistakable French rugby rhythm, they promise to bring an exciting challenge to the pitch.

Expect a fast, physical, and thrilling match—pride and intensity on every play.

Arlechinii are ready. Are you?

Post match report

F. Frățică

Our usual writer couldn’t make it this time – rumor has it he was busy dyeing his hair blonde, and he swears he’s not regretting the decision (we’re not entirely convinced).

After my debut as a starter on the pitch, it’s only fair I make my debut on arlechinii.ro as well. I’ll try to do this match some justice.

The weeks leading up to the game felt right. A few of the boys even showed up a day early to mark the pitch – perfectly fresh straight lines. Training sessions were sharp, energy was high, and everyone was itching to finally get the 2026 season going.

Then came match day and, as rugby reminds you every time, training and reality are not always on speaking terms. The final score doesn’t fully capture how the game unfolded, and there’s much more to the story that we’ll get into.

The first half was ours, at least everywhere except where it actually mattered: the try line. We spent most of the minutes attacking, phase after phase, knocking on the door but somehow never quite finding the key until the last play of the half. Our try-scoring machine spotted a gap that most of us didn’t even know existed, stepped around what felt like half the French team and grounded the ball. Deserved and slightly overdue.

Second half – a different story: the boys from Paris came back with a plan, and more importantly, with fresh legs and clear intent. We, on the other hand, started to feel the minutes from the first half. Small gaps began to appear in defense, and they didn’t need much invitation.

We kept pushing until the end. There were moments—a few late attacks, some hopeful phases—but we couldn’t quite break through their defense again. Credit where it’s due: they were a gritty, well-organized side that fought for everything.

This is rugby.

We gave everything we had, and as our captain said after the match, the attitude was there and that’s something we carry forward. Results will follow if we keep that.

The game also had the perfect setting, played just before the final round of the Six Nations. And the third half did not disappoint. We gathered to watch the matches together, erupting in cheers (or letting out deep sighs) as France sealed the title with a last minute penalty. The night delivered exactly what it always should: stories, beers, questionable singing and Louis Bielle-Biarrey tries on repeat. Turns out, Les Bleus also have a try-scoring machine.

In the end, we may have lost the match but we gained something better: memories, friendships and a great rugby day.

Post-Post match report

Thanks to Barbosul – Foto Video (GSM: +4 0767 060 513) we do have the full game on VHS.

THANKS BARBOSUL!

Welcome to Bucharest

If you’re going to do something, do it well. And in 2026… we are going BIG.

This is not just a list of fixtures.
It’s a journey. A statement. A reunion of friends and rivals from across Europe. A celebration of amateur rugby played with passion, respect, and that unmistakable Arlechinii spirit.

People keep asking us:

“Is this your amateur national league schedule?”
“Is this the Romanian championship calendar?”
“Is this some kind of European amateur cup?”

We usually smile.

No.
This is just how Arlechinii rugby looks like.

There is no official amateur league.
There is no structured championship for us.
There is just rugby. And friends. And teams from across Europe who choose to come to Bucharest and share the field with us.

And in 2026… we are welcoming plenty of them.

14.03 – Ocean Rugby Club (Paris, FRA)

We open the season by welcoming our friends from Paris. Expect flair, pace and that unmistakable French rugby rhythm.

Bucharest will be ready.

09.05 – Mill Hill (ENG)

Mill Hill were here before, and we had a blast — great rugby, great laughs, and memories that still make us smile.

June 12, 2018

Mill Hill were here

16.05 – Pinley RFC (ENG)

Strong rugby cultures.

Structured play, disciplined forwards and proper third halves. English rugby travels well — and we are proud to host it.

23.05 – Wasps (ENG) & Bandars Log Marseille (FRA)

A special international mix.

England meets France.
And both meet Arlechinii.

It will be a day of rugby, friendships and stories that will grow bigger every year.

30.05 – Gosford All Blacks (ENG)

Yes. That name.

Tradition. Physicality. Pride.

We expect a serious test — and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

06.06 – Pontllanfraith RFC (WAL)

Welsh rugby is heart, toughness and community spirit.

It fits perfectly in Bucharest.

13.06 – Stompers (Malta) & Old Costonians Bristol (ENG)

We close this international series with Mediterranean energy and British experience.

Different styles. Same passion.

This Is How We Do It!

Since there is no amateur championship to play in, we build our own.

For us, rugby is not about rankings.

It’s about connection.

So if you were wondering what the Arlechinii “league table” looks like in 2026… here it is.

A field in Bucharest.
Friends from five countries.
And one rule:

Play hard. Laugh harder.

Welcome to Arlechinii 🏉

Let’s make this a clash to remember — for the Survivors and for the Bucharest rugby family. Come down, bring your mates, and back the Arlechinii as we take on one of Asia’s finest.

The Brutal Beauty of Reality

I haven’t seen that much running since Bocio sprinted for the tram in his vagina looking like flip-flops - you know, the ones that hug his toes like a tiny rubber vagina. Honestly, it was like his feet were getting to second base.
These Seoul Survivors don’t play rugby — they survive it! Summer Clash? More like Summer Smash!

We had the game.
And what a game it was. 💥

It was everything we hoped for — intense, physical, fast, and full of heart.

The Seoul Survivors came to Bucharest with a mission. They stepped onto the field as guests and left as brothers.
From the first whistle, it was clear: these guys didn’t fly across the world just for the beer (though we’re sure that helped).

They were sharp, organized, and absolutely ruthless in the breakdowns. They ran hard, tackled harder, and never let up for a second.

Now we understand why they call themselves Survivors — because you need to survive long minutes of hell when you’re playing against them.
They showed us what experience, discipline, and rugby spirit really look like. And for that, they’ve earned not just our respect, but our admiration.

We gave everything we had.
Sometimes we matched them.
Sometimes we didn’t.

But every moment was worth it. This is what rugby is supposed to be — not just about the score, but about testing yourself against warriors who love the game as much as you do.

And when the final whistle blew, the real magic began — the third half.
Stories, beers, bad singing, worse dancing, and a lot of new friendships. That’s where we knew we’d truly won.

We stood shoulder to shoulder with them, laughing like old teammates — proof that rugby is bigger than just the minutes we spend on the pitch.

Speaking of which…
We may not have won the match, but there’s no doubt about it — we won the third half. 🏆🍻

Hey Survivors,

Thank you for the game, the hits, the laughs, and the incredible spirit you brought.
You tackled us on the pitch and charmed us at the bar — now it’s your turn to tackle the keyboard. 🧠💻

We’d love to hear what you thought about your Bucharest adventure with Arlechinii!

Just scroll down on this page and drop a few words — honest, brutal, poetic, sarcastic… we can take it (mostly).
Your feedback means the world to us — and helps us make the next third half even better 🍻

Thanks again for everything — you’re always welcome back.
Until then… stay tough, stay loud, stay Survivors.

And finally…

God bless medium size penises and tiny vaginas.

RC Luzern will be here.

Founded in 1979, when most of Arlechinii were not in the blueprint of their parent, it holds a piece of history of the Swiss rugby.

That is something for us. It will give us something to remember, for sure. We do hope that we will get the visit of the RCL Old Farts team.

For the fun of the game we decided to give a name for this event.

WTF! Is 8th of March and we train. Let's have a beer and celebrate.
"WTF Cup" is the best pick. So... Where is the Fondue?

Join us to help Arlechinii finding the fondue on 15th of March, starting at 11AM.

Just not to spoil the surprise, be sure to join us at the Grivita Rosie Stadium.

Where is The Fondue CUP

Join the event here! Please note that this is not an online event and it will not be broadcasted. It is a once in a lifetime event. Only the memories remains.

3 days later…

RC Luzern was here.

Founded in 1979, when most of Arlechinii were not in the blueprint of their parent, it holds a piece of history of the Swiss rugby.

WTF!? Where is the Fondue?

HITF

one day later… Claudiu is going strong: net weight, alive (no shit included)

WTF-051

Starting with the end: we did found the fondue. That being said, thank you!

It was a great day for rugby. The boyz from RC Luzern were great on and off the pitch. Like we always say: what happen here – stays here. So we’ll not going to go into details. Just a BIG thank you RC Luzern. You are always welcome back!

This is what we are permitted to show — rated ‘General Audience’ by our board of management. Beyond this lies only darkness.
