]]>As an official stop on the 2026 Downtown Portland Bloom Tour, The Luxury Exchange is unveiling an immersive floral installation that blends luxury fashion, vintage design, and floral artistry into one unforgettable experience.
Running May 21 through June 8, the installation invites guests to step into a surreal world where florals flow from the storefront into the shop itself — creating a layered environment designed to be explored, photographed, and experienced.
A Bloom Tour Installation Unlike Any Other
Created in collaboration with floral artist Savannah Largent, this year’s concept goes far beyond a traditional floral window display.
Guests will first encounter a dramatic floral-draped exterior designed as both an artistic statement and interactive photo backdrop. Inside, the installation continues through the store with florals woven throughout vintage trunks, mannequins, luxury accessories, and curated fashion moments.
The result is an immersive experience where fashion and florals exist together as living art.
Savannah’s work incorporates reclaimed materials and dried florals, adding a thoughtful sustainability element that aligns beautifully with The Luxury Exchange’s appreciation for timeless luxury, vintage craftsmanship, and conscious design.
Whether you are visiting for the Bloom Tour, shopping downtown, or simply looking for creative inspiration, this installation is designed to transport you.

Beyond the immersive floral artistry, guests will also discover everything The Luxury Exchange PDX is known for:
Throughout the event, visitors are encouraged to engage with the installation through shopping, photo moments, giveaways, and special in-store experiences.

]]>This year’s contest proved to be the most competitive yet, with over 61,000 votes cast — a 125% increase in engagement from 2024. With thousands of local businesses nominated and only the top three in each category recognized, placing in any category is a significant achievement.
“To see both of our stores recognized during the most competitive year in the contest’s history is incredibly meaningful,” said Beth Anundi, Co-Owner of Capital Pawn and The Luxury Exchange. “This isn’t just about winning Gold or Silver. It’s about our Portland community showing up for us in a big way. We are truly honored and grateful.”
Capital Pawn has earned a reputation as Portland’s trusted pawnshop, offering fair, transparent loans and a wide selection of quality merchandise. Winning Gold for Best Pawn Shop for the second year in a row further solidifies its standing as a dependable financial resource and retail destination for the community.
Meanwhile, as a leader in luxury resale and sustainable retail, The Luxury Exchange continues to redefine how Portland shops for high-end pieces. Its Gold win for Best Jewelry Store, along with two Silver recognitions, reflects its growing presence in Portland’s retail landscape.
“This year’s 125% increase in voting tells us how much Portland cares about supporting local businesses,” said Adam Anundi, Co-Owner. “To rise to the top in that kind of field is incredibly humbling. We’ve built our businesses on value, integrity, and relationships — and these awards belong just as much to our customers and our team as they do to us.”
The Best of Rose City Awards celebrate Portland’s favorite businesses across a wide range of categories, with winners determined by public nomination and voting.
Both stores invite the community to stop in and experience what makes them award-winning favorites. Capital Pawn and The Luxury Exchange are located in downtown Portland and are open six days a week.

]]>If you’re not getting paid for another week and you need some instant cash to finance something important, whether that’s a tank of gas, a parking ticket or personal debt, then you might consider heading to a pawn shop.
“It’s fast, private, and doesn’t require a credit check,” says Seth Gold, a pawnbroker and reality television personality from Hardcore Pawn whose family owns and operates American Jewelry and Loan in Detroit, Michigan. “Once you repay what you borrowed, you get your item back—simple as that.”
You probably know you can pawn gold jewelry from watching Gold on shows like Hardcore Pawn, but there are things you probably already own that you could pawn, too. Spoiler alert: Yes, you can pawn those designer handbags stashed away in your closet.
Ahead, we spoke with pawn experts about 15 things you didn’t know you could pawn and why they work well in this more niche market. Whether you’re hoping to get quick cash or simply curious about hidden value, these unexpected finds might be worth more than you think.

Whether you play golf or love to bike ride, high-end golf clubs, professional bikes, or premium fishing gear can all bring in quick cash, according to Gold.

Take a look at your utensils in the kitchen. “If you see the word “sterling,” that means they’re real silver, and with the silver market running strong, those pieces could be worth more than you think,” Gold says.

If you have a stash of coins, then it’s worth looking through those. According to Gold, quarters, dimes, and half-dollars minted before 1964 contain silver and are worth more than face value, which makes them a good thing to pawn.

You’ll want to take a look in your jewelry drawer to see if you have any gold pieces. “With prices approaching $4,000 an ounce, even a simple ring, chain, or bracelet can hold serious value,” says Gold. “The best part? You don’t have to sell it to use it. Selling gold is permanent, but pawning gives you flexibility—you can return the same piece whenever you need to tap into its value again.”

Whether you have a PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or a new flat screen television, you can pawn these items. “Newer TVs, gaming systems, and quality sound equipment are commonly accepted and can bring in solid cash,” Gold tells GH.

If you’re a watch person, then you could get some use out of one currently sitting on your nightstand. According to Beth Anundi, pawn expert and owner of Capital Pawn & Couture, watches like Rolex, Omega, and Breitling are top-tier for pawning due to strong resale value and demand.

Is there a designer bag you had to have a few years back that’s currently sitting in the closet collecting dust? “From casual Coach totes to Louis Vuitton and Chanel, designer bags in clean condition are some of the most popular pawn items,” says Anundi.

]]>Gift giving can be stressful, especially when you’re looking for the best gifts for women. We asked two trend experts to give us some helpful tips to find presents that are unique, trendy and meaningful for any woman in your life.
The best gifts have an element of thoughtfulness and personalization. Our experts agree: The price tag isn’t as important as the quality and intention behind the gift.
According to Dayna Isom Johnson, a trend expert at Etsy, an online marketplace, “The best gifts are the ones that make someone truly feel seen,” by “reflecting who she is, what she loves or even a shared memory.” She also says that this year especially, “We’re seeing people lean into gifts that feel more meaningful and reflective of their own style.”
Beth Anundi, co-founder of The Luxury Exchange PDX, a pre-owned luxury boutique, says that when gifting, start by paying attention to what she wears and uses. Anundi also suggests shopping in person because it’s a personal connection that can’t be replicated online.
“People often walk in thinking they want one thing and walk out with something completely different because they got to hold it, try it, feel the weight and see how it fits their story,” she says.
As you start searching for inspiration, we chose these gifts based on their functionality, usefulness and personalization potential.
Johnson urges shoppers not to get too caught up in the pressure of finding the “perfect” gift but instead focus on how you want her to feel when she opens it. Truly, the success of a gift for women lies in the intention and thoughtfulness behind it.
“The key characteristics when shopping for women today are to find things that feel real—well made, versatile and timeless,” Anundi says. She also explains that “quiet luxury 2.0,” or items that emphasize sophistication rather than brand names, and “meaningful luxury,” gifts that add to their life, not just their closet, are trendy in 2025.
As you browse through ideas, keep these characteristics in mind to find a special gift that speaks to her individuality and beautifully:
We scoured hundreds of popular gifts across retailers, forums, social media and consulted style and beauty experts to find items that are special and practical. Our list of best gifts for women ranges across various categories, hobbies, budgets and interests, whether that’s the arts, fitness, beauty, wellness or tech. Each gift is also adjustable to different age groups, so you can find a present for everyone one your list.
It’s difficult to pinpoint specific prices for gifts because there are so many affordable and high-end alternatives for each item. We narrowed down our price ranges by researching hundreds of gifts across the spectrum and pulling the cheapest and more expensive options for each. The gifts on our list range from as little as $10 to over $5,000.
“At the end of the day, a good gift is one that feels intentional,” Anundi says. “[It’s also] a conscious gift that is not only beautiful but enduring, sustainable and tells a story of connection rather than consumption.”
If you need a bit of guidance on choosing the right gift, we broke down some expert-approved tips to find an item that’s meaningful and practical:
Certain gifts might speak to your giftee differently depending on her relationship to you. For example, a mother or grandmother might prefer sentimental, handcrafted items, while a friend or sister may appreciate trendier items. Take some time to get to know her interests and values, as well as her lifestyle and time constraints.
Don’t settle for the first gift you see on a shelf just because you’re in a rush. Give yourself time to prepare for the special occasion and brainstorm through your options. After all, the more thought you put into a gift, the more likely she’ll be able to see your effort.
Good presentation isn’t mandatory in gift giving, but it does go the extra mile. Buy a quality gift bag or wrapping paper or add the present to a gift basket to show you put extra thought into the unwrapping experience.

Reshared from JCK Online
A collaboration in Portland, Ore., between the Luxury Exchange and local jewelry artist Diana Leon shows how independent designers can work with retailers to develop customer connections, deeper storytelling, and visual presentation.
For its inaugural fine jewelry residency, the Luxury Exchange is showcasing Leon’s brand Retórica and her new collection, Forest Goddess. Running from Aug. 11 through Sept. 7, the gallery-like installation at the Luxury Exchange offers Leon—who does not operate a storefront—a physical space to exhibit her jewelry. Leon says she looks forward to meeting with new and existing clients as well as learning about how potential customers interact with her jewelry.
“As designers, we often spend most of our time focused on creating. It’s easy to overlook how important it is to have your pieces displayed in spaces that understand and enhance your vision,” she says. “A residency gives you the chance to collaborate with professionals who can help translate your work into an immersive experience.”

Ring and necklace by jewelry designer Diana Leon, who has bought her new Forest Goddess collection and additional pieces to a residency at the Luxury Exchange
The Luxury Exchange is a boutique specializing in secondhand designer fashion and accessories, including handbags, watches, and fine jewelry. Beth Anundi, who co-owns and operates the store with her husband, Adam, says they consider themselves part of Portland’s creative community, as they have collaborated with Portland artists before and they help amplify artisan voices in the region.
The business also aligns with Leon’s work, adds Anundi, because the designer repurposes gold and gemstones for her Retórica creations, and the Luxury Exchange supports sustainability and reuse.
“We always want to create experiences, and we reached out to Diana because of her intentionality, craftsmanship, and how she creates her work,” Anundi says. “When people put on one of her pieces, it becomes an experience.”
Mexico-born Leon studied fashion design and textiles in her home country before getting certification from GIA in gemology, pearls, and diamond grading. She says she seeks to create feminine jewelry that expresses a woman’s power and sense of self.
“My philosophy is that jewelry is wearable emotion, a connection between the maker, the wearer, and a moment in time,” says Leon. “It’s intentional, expressive, and personal. Jewelry isn’t just decoration; it’s a memory, it’s an identity, and it is a form of transformation.”
With Forest Goddess, Leon uses 14k gold and gemstones to highlight her interpretation of a woman’s journey through life. The collection is inspired by femininity in all forms, expressed through gold’s malleability: Gold can be transformed by fire, mechanical force, and other processes, reflecting how women evolve through their life experiences, Leon explains.

Retórica jewelry includes the Sunburst engagement ring ($2,950) at bottom left and the V-shaped gold band ($720) next to it.
“To me, this is a powerful metaphor for the human experience. We too are shaped by pressure and change, yet we carry our core strength through every transformation,” she says. “On a personal level, I often say jewelry-making saved my life. I discovered this craft during a difficult time, and the physical act of working with metal—hammering, soldering, shaping, polishing—gave me a sense of healing and presence.”
Per the collection’s name, the jewelry represents a woman who is as free and untamed as the forest and as powerful as a goddess, according to the designer.
“She lives on her own terms—sometimes strong, sometimes soft, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, but always true to herself. This collection is a celebration of that freedom,” Leon says.
“It is a celebration of the right to self-expression without the need to explain or justify it to anyone. Every day is a new opportunity to grow, and with that new growth comes the ability to evolve and carry yourself in the way that feels right to you.”
