https://95bfm.com/bcast/%C4%81e-hine-w-nadia-marychurch-6th-november-2026

Nadia Marychurch (Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Raukawa) is a Tauranga-based artist whose materially-led practice explores whakapapa, cultural memory, and the interconnected relationship between land, identity, and time. Working primarily with whenua and reclaimed, tactile forms, Marychurch collaboratively works with these materials, gathering, preparing, and reconstructing them into sculptural forms that carry layered historical and emotional meaning.

Her current solo exhibition at Melanie Roger Gallery, Āe, Hine, presents a new body of works exploring concepts we have been taught to separate, divide, or treat as polar – light and dark, Māori and Pākehā, life and death, belonging and unbelonging, the sacred and the ordinary. Yet here, Marychurch asks us to view these divisions in a different light, asking: what happens when we refuse to divide them?

What has emerged from this exploration is a beautiful body of work that sits in this in-between space, letting whenua, uku, onepū, muka, and repurposed woollen blankets meet, making visible the complex intersections and tensions between these concepts and material forms, opening up the gallery space for the viewer to reflect, connect, and slow down in the process.

https://95bfm.com/bcast/touchsprings-w-miranda-bellamy-and-amanda-fauteux-2026

Miranda Bellamy and Amanda Fauteux are an Ōtepoti and Canada-based collaborative duo. Working amongst an interdisciplinary research-based practice that often finds itself operating through a site-responsive approach, examining the interconnected relationships, and entanglements we as humans have with living systems.

In their current exhibition on at Gus Fisher Gallery, touchsprings, the collaborative duo present a collection of significant bodies of work- including large scale sculptural installations, video works, as well as automated pen drawings. An array of works that seek to navigate the vast world of our living systems.

The title itself touchsprings, coined by the artists themselves, points to this idea of an action that sets irreversible and unintended things into motion. Highlighting a domino effect of sorts that exists within the history of our living systems. How the smallest of actions can play a part in our wider ecosystem, and our very understanding of it.

Here, the artists delve into this idea, showcasing a living system attempting to untangle itself from a kind of pre-determined prejudice. With the artists themselves leading us through these alternative modes of looking, and approaching the very world around us. Recontextualizing the overlooked wild plants that begrudgingly pep out through the urban landscape outside the gallery door, often predetermined, or labeled as weeds. But here the artists shift our judgement and turn them into a meeting point, connecting the work itself to the audience's very surroundings.
