I liked that the article doesn’t present the technology as a complete replacement for personal trainers, but instead as a tool that can help beginners understand resistance, form, repetitions, and workout structure. The point about not becoming overly dependent on fitness data is also important. Technology can make exercise more accessible, but people still need to listen to their bodies and develop their own understanding of fitness.

And since Idaho has no lease management or lease stabilization legal guidelines to guard tenants from worth hikes, housing prices are more likely to proceed rising as higher-income renters hold relocating into city. And because Idaho has no rent control or rent stabilization laws to protect tenants from price hikes, housing costs are likely to continue rising as higher-income renters keep relocating into town. Since I retired, I’ve gone to about 95% bicycle transportation. The Open Streets events provide a narrative that parallels my transition. I’ve gone from 280+ pounds to 160 lbs. Along with changing the foods that I eat, riding instead of driving has been a big part of my transition.

To get around Boise, I think less about the fastest drive, and more about the most enjoyable way to spend the next half hour. I use bikes that let me sit upright so that it’s easier to see the moving scenes around me. I feel the air and sounds that move around me. I dress for the weather. On cold and wet days I have stretches of the Green Belt to myself. The city dissipates into natural views and sounds.

My daily experiences, social, exercise, shopping, etc., are more tethered to being near good bike routes and less about being a traffic participant. The travel and the experiences are more pleasant, somehow more connected to me.

I hope the Open Streets events encourage people to think outside of our cultural conditioning to the automobile. I’ve found it a good place to be.

That was my point. The minimum wage is an effective policy when the labor market is soft, meaning the supply of workers grows faster than the demand. That is not the case in Boise or Idaho. Here, the labor market is very tight, with the demand for workers growing faster than the supply.
An attempt to raise the minimum wage above the market wage for low-skilled, entry-level jobs could make the cost of living even less affordable.
