HT 1-1

The second half saw Colts take control of the game much more and they worked hard to create several scoring opportunities. A free-kick from Luis that struck the post and crossed the goal line, only to go out for a goal kick, was a particularly frustrating moment for the Colts players,coaches and parents. It was a “could have been” game changer moment for sure, but everyone emitted positive vibes in the hope a goal would still come.
Despite their dominance towards the end of the second half, Colts were unable to find the decisive goal, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Today wasn’t Colts best day, and they definitely didn’t bring their A game but while the result may not have been what they had hoped for, Colts can regroup, learn and get ready for their county game next weekend.

FT 1-1

In a weather-affected first half when radiators were needed to keep the crowd warm, Jack’s effort wide of the target after an error playing out from the back from the Lancing goalkeeper was the home team’s first real chance of note.

Colts found themselves behind in the 24th minute after a mix-up in defence allowed the visitors to open the scoring.

Substitute Vinnie came close to equalising after a lovely passing move, but his effort was narrowly wide

The Colts’ standout first half performer was Finn, who helped keep score the down with a solid defensive display and some calm passing from the back under pressure.

HT 0-1

Trent’s half-time teamtalk worked wonders and the second half was much more pleasing on the eye.

Wingers Oscar and Jamie helped widen the play and slowly, but surely gaps began to show in the Lancing defence.

Captain Leo shot over from a well-worked corner before Vinnie levelled 13 minutes after the re-start, shooting home through the goal keeper’s legs from outside the box.

Five minutes later man-of-the-match Finn claimed a deserved goal with a bullet header from Ben’s corner to make it 2-1 and win the game.

Set pieces continued to ask questions of the Lancing back-line and another whipped-in Ben corner forced a near-post goal-line clearance late on while Leo also forced a good save from the goalkeeper with minutes remaining.

Trent used his five subs well to keep the team fresh and defend the lead comfortably as Colts took advantage of other games being called off to move into the top four in the table.

The game started with both teams seeming equally matched and all the boys were keen to show their skills. It felt like a goal was coming for the Colts early on, but Hurstpierpoint kept them at bay with some great defending. Hurstpierpoint had some good chances with their counter attacks, but in the 15th minute, Colts were the ones to break the deadlock. Goalie Fletcher hit a great drop kick and a now warmed up Jasper on the right wing, managed to get the ball down and past their defence line. 1-0 colts

Hurstpierpoint immediately struck back, scoring a goal of their own just 1 minute later after some great passing and finding their quick left winger and making the scores even. 1-1

The game continued as it started with both teams playing with heart and fighting for every ball. Leo tried hard to find the front players, but it just wasn’t connecting.

27 minutes in and Vinnie came on to play right wing, crossing a great ball that found Luis who popped the ball into the net. 2-1 Colts.

HT 2-1 COLTS

Half time kicked off and after ten minutes of to and fro, Colts found themselves with a corner. Ben swung the ball in, and Luis managed to get his head underneath it and popped it into the top of the net. 3-1 Colts

10 minutes of scrappy football ensured with both teams having a couple of half chances each. Colts wanting to keep their lead and Hurstpierpoint desperate to claw it back, made for some disjointed but ambitious football.

At 47 minutes, Leo kept his cool head in midfield and managed to get a through ball to Jasper on the left wing, Jasper cut through their defender and beat their keeper to bring the colts a little more security. 4-1 Colts

Hurstpierpoint had a few chances in the next 5 minutes, but just couldn’t finish their attack. Goalie Fletcher and the defenders, working to make it as hard as possible for them.

52 minutes in and Hurstpierpoint keeper struggled to deal with a backpass, meaning the ball fell at Theos feet. He scuffed the ball from outside the box, but gave it enough momentum to get past the keeper and into the net. 5-1 Colts

All credit due,Hurstpierpoint at this point seemed to dig deep and really fight for a comeback with 20 minutes to go. They put the pressure on and after a cross from the left wing and some flakey defending from Colts, they found the net one more time. 5-2 Colts

The last 15 minutes continued as the game had started, with both teams putting a shift in and Colts defenders Ben, Jack, Charlie and Finley in particular had to find their second wind to keep the attacks at bay, but the game finished with a win for the Colts.
Colts move onto the 4th round of the County Cup.

Player of the match goes to Max for being in a good position throughout the match today.
Well done to all the boys today who played as a team and showed signs of some great play to come!

Up the Colts!

Then came a goal against the run of play for bognor in the 11th minute. 2-0 down. Colts now having to dig deep and practice the art of coming back. After 20 minutes Colts finally woke up!  It started with a chance after Leo played lovely through Ball to Vinnie, who just put it wide.

10 minutes of scrapy play, mainly in the midfield followed, where we just couldn’t seem to keep possession. On the 29th minute great pressing from Vinnie saw him steal the ball from the left back and slot it in the top corner. Parents and coaches clapping with relief that the goal that was coming for so long finally came to fruition.

Colts had started to settle in and get focused.
35 minutes in,  a chip pass from Leo over all of bognor midfield and defence saw Jasper find the ball the other side and put it in the back of the net. Even scores at 2-2! Let’s go!

Ht 2-2

Second half started at even Stevens and all to play for. Colts starting positive and keen to get the lead.
Another connection between Leo and Jasper, finished with the ball in the net, Colts go up 3-2

Bognor then found themselves with not 1, not 2 but 3 corners in a row 2 minutes later. All spectators holding their breathe with defense really having to put a shift in. Luckily to ball didn’t find the net!

Play continued, with the ball flipping between teams quickly, but
a speedy Bognor attack went through our defence scoring, giving them another goal,  making it 3-3

60 minutes in, a fabulous cross from Vinnie and a great finish from Jasper making the score 4-3 and wrapping up Jaspers hatrick.

Rest of the second half Bognor were relentless and Colts started to waiver. Communication breaking down a little  between the boys and tiredness creeping in.

A Lapse in concentration led to bognor scoring 2 more goals from their speedy wingers and great crosses but goalie Fletcher also put in a great shift saving some great goals to keep the score balanced.  5-4 to bognor

In the last few minutes all Colts players really fought to try and make the score even, but sadly the Goal just didn’t come today.

They boys had moments of fantastic play and teamwork today, showing some potential great progress for the future games ahead.
A lost today is not a true reflection of the level of football, a draw would have been fair but onwards and upwards, we learn from our mistakes and get ready to face Lancing next week away.

Jasper got player of the match for his hatrick and being in a good position throughout the game.

Chichester Colts hosted Midhurst and Easbourne today for the next round of the challenge cup.
The game started scrappy, with both teams taking a little time to settle down, but both radiating an heir of determination.
Just 4 minutes in Jamie found himself in front of goal and had a shot,but sadly it went wide.

Both teams were hungry for the ball but after some good defending from the opposition, Colts found themselves with a corner, but the first goal wasn’t meant to happen just yet. . 1 minute later and after yet more great defensive play from Midhusrt, another corner.Fletcher managed to get his head on it, but again iit wasn’t meant to be.

Colts started to settle a little after 10 minutes or so and after some good work from Fletcher and some nice simple passing, Jack had a shot but it went wide.
This is when Colts started to settle into the game and some nice passing and linked up plays started to happen. Jazzy found the ball at his feet in the 15th minute, so he took a long shot, but again, it just didn’t find the back of the net!
Perseverance and Leo being the cool headed midfielder he is, led to a lovely ball to Vinnies feet, and after a shot from outside the box, the ball slotted into the top corner of the net! 1-0 to Colts.

It took another 10 minutes of toing and froing from both teams, Midhurst digging deep and keeping their energy levels high, but Oscar in the 28th minute, showed off some fabulous skills, running through 3 of their defenders with his handy footwork, but sadly running out of space.
A few minutes later, Leo found himself 20 yards out and hit a curling left footed shot into the top corner. The keeper managed to get a hand to it, that ball was going nowhere but the back of the net! 2-0!

HT 2-0

Beginning of the second half and both teams rearing to go with it still all to play for.
Fletcher came out to clear the ball and unintentionally caught their striker, giving Midhurst a free kick 10 yards outside the box. Noah, Max and Daniel put their shifts in and yet again made sure it didn’t come to anything.

The chances for the Colts started to ramp up. They started to find each other with simple play and some great movement, using the whole pitch. Jack started to run of attempts with a free kick that hit the bar, followed by Vinnie hitting a wide shot in the 44th minute.
Fletcher played yet another great cross to Vinnie, leading to another wide shot under attack from Midhursts defence!

Patients paid off in the 56th minute,the ball was crossed from Fletcher, Jack hit it straight in the back of the net. 3-0 Colts.
With colts now controlling a lot of the game, Midhurst were still putting in some great tackles and energy, however in the 65th minute, Theo played a ball from midfield and after a scuffle in the box, Vinnie managed to kick the ball over his own head, where in managed to bounce straight through the keepers legs and into the goal. 4-0 Colts.

The Player of the Match went to Noah for some great defensive play throughout the game.

A special mention to the Referee today who was fantastic with both teams. Refs get a lot of backlash, but he showed fairness, patience and took time to explain his choices to the boys and educate them.

Colts secured a comprehensive victory over Arundel in their latest match, showcasing their dominance throughout the game. The attacking prowess of Colts was on full display, as they converted a number of chances into goals, aswell as missing some too!
Arundel started well and seemed well matched against Colts, but the back line of Noah, Charlie and Finley kept them at bay.
Once Colts settled they started to establish a firm grip on the match.

Vinny opened the scoring in the 20th minute, followed by Luis’ goal just five minutes later,lifting spirits and helping Colts to realise they can play great football together.
Arundel had a couple of near misses, but just couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net, largely due to goalie Fletcher and his quick reactions and some great tackles from Colts backline and sweeping wingers.
Jasper missing a great opportunity in the 30th minute, just made him more determined to find the back of the net at some point. But when was the question?

Jack added to the tally in the 35th minute, after a lovely cross from Fletcher on the wing,  giving Colts a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime.

Arundel came out second half, ready to go! They managed to pull one goal back early in the second half with a great long ball goal leaving to score 3-1 at 37 minutes.
Arundel were on the attack, with defense having to work hard to stop a few good attempts and Max doing what he does best, being relentless at chasing down the ball to gain possession. After a wobbly few minutes for Colts, they took a breath and composed themselves.

Colts settled back down and a through ball from Leo, lead to a great cross from Luis, finished by Vinnie knocking it into the back of the net. (4-1)A great demonstration of the team coming together.

The game was getting a little more firey, but Colts kept attacking with the help of Jamie on the wing chasing down the ball and fighting hard to gain possession. This lead to another chance with Theo hitting a long shot from outside the box, which the Arundel keeper saved.
Luis bought the next goal, after maneuvering past an obstructing Arundel defence, he managed to chip the ball from 30 yards out, scoring in the 50th minute. (5-1)
Jaspers long awaited goal (how many shots first half?) followed in quick succession in the 55th minute with a chip over the keeper. (6-1) At last!

Arundel came in with a few attempts, but Fletcher either had it covered or they shot wide.
Oscar working hard on the wing and making some lovely passes lead to
another attack and a great cross from Vinny, finished at back post by Jack, securing Colts a 59minute 7th goal. (7-1)

Vinny had the chance to complete a hat-trick but was unable to convert a late opportunity, hitting the post in the final minutes.

The final score of 7-1 reflects Colts’ dominance throughout the match. Their attacking play was impressive, with a number of chances created and some lovely simple but effective passing.

No one man of the match today,  every player deserved it! So it went to them all!

Next we move to our cup game, where hopefully we can bring the same energy and radiate the same positivity.
