I always thought I’d work somewhere long term. when i look at my resume, i see:
laid off (2 years)
quit because company got bought and i didn’t want a demotion(2 years)
quit because of stress(3 years)
laid off (2 years)
laid off (6 years, and I’d still be there if they didn’t close my division…)
part time office (worked there over a long stretch of time while unemployed 3 years)
contract (6 months)
contract (7 months, got sick, lost contract)
contract (7 months, contract not renewed)
real grown up job (3 months as I was wooed back to current workplace that didn’t renew my contract, with big money real grown up job)

and that finds me here today. we’ll see how long i last. My father worked for the same company for 37 years. my mother worked for a bank for 16 years until the bank was bought by some shitty bank and she quit, and then worked for 10 years for my high school in the attendance office, until she retired.
