“Investing and Doing Business in Africa: Is Arbitration Contributing to the Revolution?”

Following the success of the previous editions, the Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (CIMAC) is delighted to invite you to the upcoming fifth edition of its annual flagship event Casablanca Arbitration Days which will take place at the Kenzi Hotel Casablanca on December 5, 6, 2019.
The title of this upcoming fifth edition is “Investing and Doing Business in Africa: Is Arbitration Contributing to the Revolution?”The Casablanca Arbitration Days offers an opportunity to engage in topical issues-such as investment protection mechanisms in Africa, the importance of regional economic communities, considerations relating to Chinese investment on the continent, the pros and cons of the proliferation of arbitration institutions and an update on Moroccan arbitration law- with some of the world’s leading arbitration experts to provide pertinent insight into Africa’s changing and challenging investment landscape.
The Casablanca Finance City and Accuracy are supporting this event.

CIMAC and ICSID sign a cooperation agreement

CIMAC is pleased to announce that it entered into a cooperation agreement with the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The Agreement was signed on behalf of CIMAC by Hicham Zegrary, Secretary-General, and on behalf of ICSID by Mrs. Meg Kinnear, ICSID Secretary-General.
The Agreement provides for the possibility of holding ICSID hearing at CIMAC facilities. It encourages also knowledge sharing between CIMAC and ICSID, and exchange of information and publications in the field of arbitration, conciliation, and other methods of dispute resolution.
To mark the occasion, a ceremony was held on November 29th 2018 in Casablanca (Morocco), on the sidelines of Casablanca Arbitration Days, and attended by Mr. Paul Jean Le Cannu, ICSID Legal Counsel.

4th Edition of the Casablanca Arbitration Days 2018

On November 29-30 2018, Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (CIMAC) hosted the fourth edition of its flagship event “Casablanca Arbitration Days (CAD)”. The topic of this edition was “The New York Convention at 60: Has It Worked for Africa?” While celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of this landmark treaty in field of arbitration, speakers and participants recalled the pioneer role played by Morocco as being one of the first countries in the world having ratified the Convention. They also discussed the relevance of this treaty today. CIMAC thank you all for making this edition a success.
