Monté à Paris pour se former à son art, il a le privilège de devenir l’élève de deux figures majeures de la sculpture romantique : David d'Angers et François Rude. </p> <p>Expositions : Il expose lors de plusieurs Salons parisiens emblématiques. En 1848, il y présente une statue en plâtre intitulée "<em>Le dernier des Macchabées"</em>, puis l’année suivante, au Salon de 1849, il propose un sujet religieux remarqué, "<em>Le Christ mourant sur la Croix"</em>.
