On Day 1, it was Bill Schneider, Herman Baker, and Tony Vieson who found the best fish, weighing in 7.92 lbs, 6.97 lbs, and 5.44 lbs respectively. It was one of the closest opening days in recent Fish Off history. Even Bobby Farmer, Ron Crabtree, Jacob Baker, and Matthew Townsley remained well within striking distance after the first day of competition.
Day 2 opened much the same way Day 1 ended, with steady rain finally giving way around 11:00 a.m. CST. By the time anglers returned for weigh-in, emotions ranged from excitement to frustration.
No one experienced more heartbreak than Matthew Townsley, who lost a potential 5-plus-pound bass at the boat after a soul-crushing failed boat flip. Meanwhile, Bill Schneider was on pins and needles. Despite putting together, the best Fish Off performance with club, he was unable to find three additional fish that would have likely secured his first Fish Off victory.
Tony Vieson came to the scales with his best finish of the season, weighing a second consecutive five-fish limit that totaled 7.29 lbs. His two-day total of 12.73 lbs moved him from third place into the tournament lead. But as they say, never count your chickens before they’re hatched.
The formidable Herman Baker had one final say in the outcome. Backed by another five-fish limit weighing 6.48 lbs, Baker finished with a two-day total of 13.45 lbs. While Vieson won Day 2, Baker won the weekend and claimed the Fish Off title, earning his third tournament victory of the season.
Although Townsley suffered the disappointment of losing a potential giant on Day 2, his 4.22 lb bass from Day 1 proved to be a winning gamble after electing to “let it ride.” The fish held up as the largest bass of the weekend, allowing him to capture both the Day 1 and Day 2 Big Bass pots.
Nine tournaments are now in the books, with only one remaining. Angler of the Year appears all but decided, as Herman Baker carries a commanding 7.93-point lead into the season finale at Rocky Fork.
Will Rocky Fork be the lake that finally humbles Herman Baker and gives Ron Crabtree the opening he needs? Or will it serve as the final chapter in a hard-fought season, cementing Baker’s dominance and closing the door on any remaining challenge for the title?

With 2 tournaments remaining, the Angler of the Year competition gets even tighter as the club head south to Nolin Lake. A first time visit for the club. With just over a pound separating 1st and 2nd for Angler of the Year. Will Nolin be the lake that lock in Angler of the Year for Herman Baker or Rob Crabtree, or will it come down to the wire at the final tournament at Rocky Fork. Only time will tell.

With only 3 tournaments remaining. Time is running out to catch currently Angler of the Year leader Herman Baker. Who still maintains a comfy 6.45 lb lead. Out next tournament heads north to the much regarded Indian Lake. Can Crabtree and Tobe gain some ground on Indian, or will Herman continue to pad his lead. Only time will tell.

The AOY standings remain mostly unchanged except for Bob Farmer climbing out of the cellar breaking into the TOP 5. Summer is in full swing with the unforgiving heat and the bi-polar weather of Ohio. Don’t like the weather, wait an hour. Eagle Creek is the next destination due for a visit from Butler County. Will mother nature play nice and allow the club on the river, or will she send the club back to the inland reservoirs. Only time will tell.

With 3 tournaments now in the book. The run for the 2026 Angler of the Year is far from a runaway at this point. With the top 3 Anglers being within 4 lbs of each other. Next stop, Alum Creek just outside of Columbus. Will we see a shake up or shake down as we draw closer to the seasons halfway point.
