The large width brings enough space to create easily many « steps » for coral reef, high on the back, lower in the front.
Ways are created, with small beaches, hiding places under the rocks, many territories for fish.
Aquaroche « Eco reef plates » (15 to 30 cm) « Eco reef plates » in XL version ( 30 to 40/45 cm) and « platiers » (up to 75 cm) enable to create coral reefs with large surfaces for corals and inverts.

Depuis trente ans, l’entreprise de Glénic Aquaroche s’est spécialisée dans la fabrication de roches artificielles pour aquariums : elle est la seule en France.
■ REPRISE.
En février dernier, elle a été reprise par Jérôme Levassor. Il ambitionne notamment de développer encore plus le marché à l’international.
Dirigée depuis février par Jérôme Levassor, l’entreprise Aquaroche, installée à Glénic, poursuit son développement à l’international. Spécialisée dans la fabrication de décors pour aquariums, l’entreprise réalise déjà 60 % de son chiffre d’affaires à l’étranger.
Seulement trois entreprises dans le monde fabriquent des décors d’aquariums à base de roches artificielles. Et l’une d’entre elles la seule en France se cache en Creuse. Une histoire débutée à Glénic, il y a trente ans quand Laurence et Jacky Compin, potiers d’art, ont relevé le pari, lancé par un adhérent d’un club d’aquariophilie : “et pourquoi vous ne feriez pas des décors pour aquariums ?”.
« Nos produits vont jusqu’en Chine »
Trente ans plus tard et un marché largement développé à l’international, les fondateurs ont pris leur retraite. Non sans avoir préparé leur succession. En février, l’entreprise creusoise a été reprise par Jérôme Levassor, 38 ans. « Après quinze ans de salariat dans la céramique, je cherchais à reprendre une entreprise de céramique sur un secteur porteur. C’est comme ça que j’ai rencontré Laurence et Jacky. Après un an d’échanges et de discussions, on a pu trouver un accord. » Et continuer dans la foulée des anciens dirigeants. « Notre spécialité, ce sont les décors en céramique pour les aquariums : des roches artificielles les plus proches possibles de ce que l’on peut trouver dans la nature et notamment dans les grands bassins coralliens.
On a d’abord toute une gamme proposée sur catalogue, avec une soixantaine de références et aussi une gamme sur mesure pour répondre à toutes les autres demandes. On a déjà livré un décor pour un aquarium de 15.000 litres ! »
Ici, entre modelage, séchage, cuisson, il faut compter « trois semaines pour sortir une pièce quelle que soit la taille, d’ailleurs. C’est pour ça aussi qu’on travaille sur du stock : en trois jours, on peut livrer tous les standards ». Indispensable pour l’entreprise qui « vend à des magasins spécialisés dans la revente de produits pour animalerie et aquariophilie » et qui surtout réalise 60 % de son chiffre d’affaires à l’étranger.
Un développement à l’international « aujourd’hui, nos produits vont jusqu’en Chine » que Jérôme Levassor compte bien poursuivre en visant notamment les États-Unis et le Moyen-Orient. Et, d’ici cinq ans, « profiter de ce procédé technique pour se lancer dans des activités de filtration ». Ce qui, bien sûr, irait de pair avec des embauches. ■

These decors are neutral and can be used as well in fresh water as in reef aquariums.
« Nests » (with a diameter and a depth around 5 cm), at different levels of the rocks make it easy to install plants in fresh water and corals and anemons in reef aquariums.

LiVe Rock Function Filter
Live rock function :
The development of these modules comes from our vast experience in the creation and manufacturing of rocks/ culture live rocks.
After colonisation, they are similar to natural live rocks and their porosity is double the Indonesian live rock porosity (porosity 60/65 %)
Bacteria and micro fauna :
The difference with other filtration media is that the Aquaroche modules can shelter both bacteria and micro fauna, including microscopic worms which find galleries, wide and deep enough to penetrate to the heart of the rocks.
These worms and other micro-organisms play an important part in the biological balance and also prevent clogging that often occurs rapidly with other traditional media, with a too thin and homogeneous porosity.

Porosity :
Aquaroche Live rock Function Filter elements have a great deal of open cells of 20/100 µ, linked together by galleries and fissures of 100 µ to 1 mm.
The shape is a cube of 5 cm, big enough to enable the development of areas poor in oxygen.
To better imagine the size: a bacterium measures around 1 µ, each element is a micro world cube of 50 000 µ side. To bring it to a human size, if the bacteria measured 1 meter, the cube would measure 50 kilometres.
Then it’s easy to understand that, to avoid the filter media clogging (which happens with too small and too regular pores) and to make life develop, you need
• A very good circulation between the pores, the cavities, grottoes and fissures
• A great variety in the dimensions so that each micro-organism can find its place and can be fed correctly.
Material :
The ceramic of the structure is the same as the one for our eco reef plates (to make artificial live rocks), which has proved its neutrality for years. Scientific tests confirm there is no leaching of toxic elements in the water for fish and corals.

Use
• Do not rinse with tap water but immerse your aquaroche filter media in a “soup” rich in bacteria and nutrients eg. off-the-shelf bacteria products.
• Put them loose or stacked up in the filter box under a thin coat of pre filtration foam eg. cotton wool.
• Normal waterflow to provide oxygen.
Development and maximum efficiency of aerobic bacteria in 4 / 6 weeks (check and follow the evolution of nitrites)
Clean regularly the pre-filtration foam but never rinse the elements once they are colonised as you would risk to destroy the active bacteria.
Reduction of nitrates comes from the development of anaerobic bacteria which requires a complicated balance that needs several months to settle (from 4 to 6 months, provided that you do not rinse the elements)
