Other recent alumni include Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station), Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), Dee Rees (Pariah) and Robert Eggers (The Witch).
The official list of films submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for consideration as Best Animated Feature is out and Cedar Lee regulars have seen almost half of the films. MFKZ, Fireworks, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Mirai (12.5.18) and Liz and the Blue Bird (11.13).

FilmStruck has been cancelled. After AT&T bought Time Warner a few months back, there were hints at some major changes and it looks like FilmStruck is a casualty of those changes. The specialty Box Office this week was all about Colette and it's spectacular debut in limited release. It opens here on October 12th.
The expectations for any film directed by Michael Moore have been unrealistic for years, and Fahrenheit 11/9 is no exception. Unfortunately, Moore himself isn't helping by setting unrealistic expectations himself.

Box Office Hits (on the Art House Circuit) - Why you don't see that hit festival film the same time film geeks in NYC are able to. It's not us, we swear. We use the release of Sony Pictures Classics The Wife as an example of how to perfectly build critical buzz and audience interest in a film, while taking their sweet time getting the film to us in Cleveland.
