<h3>Features:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Tap "Park Here" to drop a purple maker on your current coordinates with the date and time to mark your bike's parking spot.</li>
<li>Tap "Add Spot" and snap a quick picture then tap send to share bicycle parking that is not on the map yet with everyone!</li>
<li>Blue markers are confirmed spots added by you and me. Yellow markers are from external data sources such as a list of bicycle parking areas / bike racks provided by your city.</li>
<li>The purple park here marker can be removed by tapping the "I Parked Here!" info window. Once it is removed, the "Park Here" button will re appear, so you can mark a new parking spot.</li>
<li>Tap the "My Location" button in the top right to toggle between your current location and your parking spot.</li>

<p>You have the power to add bicycle parking and help others in your area find those spots. Tap and hold the green marker on the mini map to activate dragging.</p>

<p>The following is an overview of how the Bicycle Parking app works and what you can do with it. There are screen shots and notes. Access to the internet is required for the app to work properly. It also helps to have access to your current location to help you find the nearby bicycle parking faster and to help others if you want to share bicycle parking with everyone. Your current location is also needed to drop a pin when you tap "Park Here".</p>
<h3>Park Here:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Tap the "Park Here" button to drop a pin on your current location.</li>
<li>This marks your parking spot with the current date and time.</li>

<h3>Map Tab:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Scroll around to find bicycle parking. The app will load spots as the map moves.</li>
<li>All the pins on the map mark where there is a bicycle rack or other bicycle parking.</li>
<li>Green pins are from other cyclists using the app. Purple dots are from external data sources.</li>
<li>Tap the button in the bottom right corner anytime to toggle between your current location and your parking spot.</li>
<li>Tap a pin to find out more details about the spot. For even more details tap on the info button at the right of the pop up.</li>

<li>Drag and drop the bottom of the red pin on the mini map to pinpoint the exact location. Sometimes the pin must be tapped once to activate dragging then tap again and hold to drag.</li>
<li>Tap send when you are ready!</li>

<div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>The bicycle parking project is powered by cyclists from all around who help build up the database of bicycle racks and other bicycle parking spaces creating a stronger bicycle community by making it easier to plan a ride and get around town without worrying about where to park your bike when you get there (wherever <em>there</em> may be). The project will also help identify locations lacking in bicycle parking and make an effort to coordinate new parking spots with city officials and business owners.</p>

<h3>How it Works</h3>
<p>Anyone with the mobile app installed on their mobile device can enter bicycle parking data. <strong>Required</strong>: the mobile device must have a camera and must allow the app to access their gps location. The app picks up your gps coordinates when you snap a picture of the bike rack or bicycle parking area and sends that information to the main server to be processed. Once the data is processed and verified the new parking space will be available on the public map for everyone to see!</p>
<h3>Where it Began</h3>
<p>While living car free for over 5 years I used bicycles as my main form or transportation. I biked to run errands, get groceries, commute to work, go to meetings and other appointments. I learned that I can safely carry about 50 pounds of groceries in the panniers on my rear rack. In some cases, for longer distances, a bicycle is not as fast as riding in a car. It’s not much fun to arrive in a new area for an appointment and have to ride around looking for somewhere to lock up my bike. To help make the whole process a little more efficient I decided to look for an app for bicycle parking. When I couldn’t find one for my area, I created a new one for everyone!</p>
