We all know how difficult it can be to get dirt and stains out of our carpet.
But before going to the expensive store brands of carpet cleaner full of chemicals – try making your own.

Ingredients: 2 cups hydrogen peroxide, ¼ cup baking soda, Squeeze bottle
Method: Add ingredients into the squeeze bottle and shake well. Apply solution on your stained carpet area, allow it to sit and scrub with a rag. Vacuum to dry.

For a faster identification of a specific key among a consistent collection of keys you can use a cute and elegant technique that will transform your key into a precious item. All that you need for the process is: key, craft glue, glitter, sealer. Apply glue on one side of the key head and sprinkle on the glitter. Gently press and let dry. Repeat process for the other side of the key. Seal on the glitter with nail polish top coat sealer and proceed on with other keys, using different colored glitter. Have fun and be creative!

Make your own jewelry set- pendant and earrings – using simple or colored translucent marbles, end caps with starter rings, E- 6000 and oven. Place marbles on a cookie sheet and bake for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Remove marbles from the oven and immediately submerge under ice cold water. The process will provoke cracking on the inside and will totally change marbles appearance. Glue end caps with starter rings using the E-6000, then attach chain. No need to replace your powder makeup just because is broken. There is a simple solution for fixing it and won’t require other than a few drops of rubbing alcohol. Pour liquid on top of the broken makeup and mix, reshaping it with your finger. Smooth the surface with the back of a spoon and let it dry for a few hours. As a reminder of this fact, a “thankful” piece of wall art is more than appropriate. For this you can use a wood or MDF panel, vinyl letters and acrylic paint- black and white. Cut out your letters first. Apply a layer of white paint on the board and let dry. Attach vinyl letters and apply the black paint on the entire surface. Remove letters with the paint is still wet. Tub and Shower Magic

Magic soap scum remover for your bathroom makes wonders when applied on the tub, sink, shower or appliances. To prepare it you will need 1½ cup white vinegar and 1½ liquid blue Dawn detergent. Warm up vinegar into the microwave or in a double boiler and pour onto the soap into a spray bottle. Shake well and use with trust. Spray solution on the desired area; let it sit for a few minutes, scrub and rinse. The result will put the other cleaning products to shame. For tougher soap scum areas apply solution and let it sit for overnight then scrub and rinse.

Waterless Snow Globes

Snow globes have been the symbol of Christmas for many decades now. It’s high time to learn how to make waterless snow globes without having to invest too much money or time in them. You will need glass jars. Choose jars of all sizes and shapes to make unique snow globes. Buy some artificial snow, mini Christmas trees, snowmen, spray adhesive and glitter. You`ll use a hot glue gun and glue and white spray paint. Spray paint the lids using silver glitter or white silver paint. You can spray the tress and the cute snowmen with spray adhesive and then you can sprinkle some glitter on them for a more enchanting effect. Then let the glue and glitter dry for a while. Afterwards, you can hot glue the snowmen and the trees to the bottom of the lids. Fill the jars with some of the fake snow. Screw the lids back on and turn them upside down and shake the jars to make it snow. You can make as many waterless snow globes as you like and send them as gifts to your neighbors, teachers, friends and family or you can use them in your home as the perfect Christmas decorations ever.

Pine Cone Christmas Tree

Instead of searching the entire town for original gifts or Christmas decorations, you can take a look at this do-it-yourself project and realize that it is doable. It can make the perfect gift but it can also look good on your mantelpiece or on your coffee table. It’s a cheap, easy-to-do project that will look good when it’s done. You will learn how to make your very own pine cone Christmas tree. You can make as many trees as you want. What you`ll be using are: a pine cone, glitter, hot glue, green acrylic paint, regular glue (even Modge Podge can do the trick), mini terra cotta pot (it costs less than a dollar) and a mini star. The pine cone needs to be painted green. After you apply some thin coats of green paint, let it dry for a while. After the paint dries up you can apply glue on the edge of each pine cone spine and then you can sprinkle the glitter that you chose. Let the glue and glitter dry then you can continue to hot glue the pine cone to the pot and glue the cute little star on top of the pine cone. You can even ask your kids for help; it’s an engaging activity for the entire family. You can also use some white paint to render the idea of snow and use some glitter on the star as well as on the fake snow. You can add Christmas ornaments on the pine cone tree by attaching different small beads.

The No Sweat, Chemical-Free way to Remove Labels and Glue Residue from Your Jars

Jars are used in a lot of do-it-yourself projects. They are great pops, but one thing that can get really annoying is when you try to peel off or remove labels or any traces of glue from the jars. First, you have to sink the jars in hot soapy water because they need to be cleaned. Make a paste of oil and baking soda-the ingredients should be used in equal quantities. Any type of oil will do the trick, but you can try olive oil for better results. Rub the paste on the sticky surfaces or on the labels and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a clean cloth to wipe the paste away and the labels. The labels and glue will come right off because the baking soda is a bit abrasive.

If you have kids, you can ask them to join the fun and make some sequin Christmas trees together. They`ll lend you a hand and make something nice for Santa as well. And you can spend some time with your kids engaging in fun activities such as this one. These sequin Christmas trees are perfect Christmas decorations but they can also be offered as Christmas gifts. You`ll be using some pins, a lot of sequins, some jingle bells, a Styrofoam tree and that’s it. You can make as many sequin Christmas trees as you like. Although it is quite easy to make these sequin Christmas trees, they take up a lot of time. Around one or one and a half hour to make one sequin Christmas tree. You just have to pin the sequins into the Styrofoam tree. Try choosing sequins that have small gaps or holes in them to make your job easier. You can overlap the sequins making sure there is no space left to reveal the original Styrofoam surface. The top of the tree will remain empty but you can easily fix that by adding some jingle bells. Use some hot glue to stick the jingle bells to the top of the sequin Christmas tree. These trees are very expensive in shops, but you will spend less than $10 for two or three of these trees. And the Christmas lights really make these beauties shine and enchant the room.

DIY Rumtopf

A lot of us crave for summer fruits during the cold, winter days. You can preserve all kinds of fruits in alcohol and consume them during Christmas or any other winter day. This recipe is of German inspiration and it dates back centuries ago. Use organic rum, making sure the fruit won’t ferment. This project costs some money but in the end it is worth it. The recipe goes like this: you`ll use three cups of hulled strawberries, 2 cups per different ripe and spotless fruits, 1 cup of sugar for every two cups of fruit and two liters of organic brandy or rum. When it comes to beach plums they should be pitted as well as the cherries and peaches.The apples should be cored and sliced, the apricots should be pitted and sliced and so should the nectarines. Whenever you buy fruit, wash the fruit and then put it in a bowl with half its volume in sugar. Let it sit like that overnight so it can macerate. You can then add the fruit and its juice to the crock. You should pour as much brandy or rum till all the fruits are covered in it. Keep the crock in a cool place and put a lid on it. Add fruits from every season and then let the rumtopf sit for two months. Then you can drink the rumtopf at Christmas.

Firebowl Step by Step

This project won’t take longer than 30 minutes or so. You`ll use the following supplies: a plain plastic bowl, a bunch of rocks, Sakrete Quickset Concrete, a huge canned good, Pam cooking spray, newspaper, a plastic tub that you`ll use when mixing concrete, chafing dish gel fuel pack and a stick to stir the concrete. Use enough concrete to fill the plastic bowl. Add the water and stir the dry mix with a stick. You can make a puddle in the center of the dry mix. It shouldn’t be too chunky or soupy. The cooking spray should be sprayed over the mold and the canned good and then you can pour the concrete in the mold after you spray the Pam. After 17 minutes have passed, you should cover the top of the mold with some old newspapers. Then you have to flip the content over with care. Put the rocks along the rim of the concrete shape. Drop the gel pack in the center and light it with a long match. You`ll have a bowl of fire in your house and this makes the perfect decoration ever, especially during those cold, winter days.

Painted Burlap Thanksgiving Place Settings

Thanksgiving is almost knocking on our doors and some rushed decorations should be in place. If you don’t want to spend too much time decorating the house, investing too much money or looking for decorations in every shop that you know and if you plan on cooking a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, here is a do-it-yourself project that you`ll love because it is easy, it is cheap and it isn’t time consuming. You will need some burlap bags, some Americana multi-surface satins-use dark red and orange colors. You`ll need a paint brush, cardboard, some painter’s tape and that’s it. Use the cardboard and place it inside the burlap bag, making sure the paint won’t soak and get to the other side of the bag. Use the painter’s tape to mark the bottom part of the bag and start painting using the Americana Multi-Surface Satins. Remove the painter’s tape and move on to the next section of the bag and follow the same steps. Paint the middle section with a totally different color. Take the cardboard out when the bag is still a bit wet, making sure that the cardboard won’t stick to the paint and allow the burlap bags to dry. These festive burlap bags match the occasion and they are perfect as bags for your dinnerware. You can also use some twine and some pieces of paper to tie the burlap bags and write some cute messages such as: love, joy, grateful and on and so forth.

Paper flowers are lovely elements of décor. You can try to make some paper dahlias on your own to prepare for this year’s fall season. You can pick a dark purple paper to match the autumn colors. It is better to use glue dots to put the flower petals together. Take the violet metallic text weight paper and print a dahlia pattern on it-you can find a lot of patterns on the internet as well as in craft stores. Trim all the petals; curl them a bit with the help of your scissors and use some glue dots, too. Glue the corners together and use a stick to turn the petals into cones. Stack the cones into sets and layers of three and glue the cones so they stay put. It will take some time but it is worth it.

How to Make the Perfect Ornament Wreath for the Holidays

If you like Christmas wreaths, you`ll love this tutorial. It’s easy to make and it’s perfect if you`re on a budget. You`ll use one large Styrofoam wreath, a hot glue gun and glue sticks as well as holiday wreath supplies. You`ll need four containers of miniature ornaments and two large containers of shatter proof ornaments, too. It’s best if you can start with the big ornaments first making sure there aren’t any hook holders on. These ornaments have to be shatter proof because they’ll be handled a bit rough while being pressed into the wreath. Apply the glue on the ornaments to make them stick to the Styrofoam. Repeat the same steps for the outside edge, making sure the ornaments touch each other. The same goes for the inside edge. Take the little ornaments to fill the empty spaces left in the wreath. Choose a nice looking ribbon to stick it on top of the wreath and you are done.
