WIND AT THE STAGNONE KITESPOT

The wind comes mainly from three directions: North, Northwest or South.

The north wind can be very strong, but usually blows with 12 to 18 knots. The morning north wind is reinforced in summer afternoons by the thermals, which guarantee good conditions for kitesurfing from 12.00 to 18.00 hours. For kites, sizes of 7 to 12 m² are usually sufficient.

General information Kitespot Nabq

Nabq, a great place from March to October. Cheap rates for 4 or 5 star hotels and flights are easy to find, especially out of season.

Rentals and excellent beaches for kitesurfing. After your daily 4/6 housr of kiting you will find in Sharm a small touristic “Rimini”.

Kitespot Nabq For whom?

For families, with girlfriend or friends who are not kiters, Nabq is a good compromise.

There are excellent resorts with all prices and activities such as aquapark and children’s entertainment.

For other sports activities and evening shopping, “Multibrand” is recommended. This place is also suitable for beginners.

A minimum stay of 7 to 9 days is recommended.

Kite Spot Nabq – Sharm El Sheikh

The only really good Kitespot in Scharm is the lagoon of Nabq.

The ideal starting point for kitesurfing is at the beach of the Regency Plaza Resort or Sea Beach: no rocks or corals, and a super wide and “safe” exit, unfortunately, however, with many kites if there is very good wind.

800 meters further south is the “ZOUARA BEACH”, a “free” beach without connection to a resort.

Less crowded with kiters, but be careful: the exit is narrower, but surfable, both to the right and left of the relatively wide exit channel there are rocks and corals.

Usually, there are also two motorboats moored which are used for parasailing near the coast.

Wind at the Kitespot of Nabq

50 % – 60 % days with wind, mostly thermal and slightly gusty. The wind usually starts at night when it reaches its maximum before lowering to 6 knots in the afternoon.

With a weight of 80 kg you can use two kites (9m² and 13m²) or three kites (7m², 9m² and 13m²) with a standard board during the same day. P.S.

The predictions of the various specialized websites are not always accurate as they usually underestimate the actual wind.

I have been told that the mathematical models used do not take thermal winds into consideration.

Wind forecast Sharm El Sheikh

Suggestions Kitespot Nabq Sharm El Sheikh

Use a 5/6 mm winter wetsuit from October to March, from April to September a summer wetsuit (3 mm), believe me that it will protect you especially when you start from Zoura Beach.

Also use kite shoes at the beginning to protect yourself from corals and rocks.

I advise you to buy shoes with reinforced soles that can be found on the spot for a few euros.

As soon as you can kite safely through the exit, you don’t necessarily need the shoes anymore.

Be careful not to lose your board (tie it to you), because due to the current only another kiter can bring your board back (if you lose the board, raise your hand… this is the signal that you need help).

General information Kitespot Maui – Hawai

  • The wind is always constant and persistent.
  • Spot for beginners and advanced, beaches with high waves which are high even for very experienced kiters.
  • Ideal temperature and weather conditions even in winter.
  • Please note: Leave your passport and other documents in the hotel or apartment.
  • Easy to hire/purchase equipment, including used equipment, many offers available in kitesurf and windsurf shops.
  • Car rental is essential. Credit card required for car and kite equipment.
  • Maui has a subtropical climate: great temperatures all year round. The months with the best wind are March to October.
  • Possibilities to rent very nice apartments by the sea for $50 per day as well as hotels from $100 to $500 per day.

Simply  ”The Dream Kitspots”

This island seems to be made for the sports kitesurfing and windsurfing as well as for pure surfing. Maui has a large selection of beaches, some suitable for beginners, others for advanced surfers and others only for professional kitesurfers.

However, it’s not really worth flying to Hawai just to learn kitesurfing (of course you are free to do so), but by the time you’ve learned the basics and gained your first experience, you’re already on your way home and haven’t had a chance to get to know this beautiful island.

My advice: Given that a flight takes 21 to 26 hours, you should be able to kitesurf very well and stay at least for two weeks (just for learning there are also excellent spots in Europe, which are only 3 to 5 flight hours away).

The island looks like an upside down 8 (also symbol for infinity). When it rains in the north, just head south to find ideal conditions.

The north is more informal, natural and sporty. A melting pot of people from all over the world who want to kitesurf, windsurf or just surf. There are also the most extreme spots like Hookipa and Jaws, which I only recommend to experts, as well as other beaches for advanced and beginners like Kanaha, etc. (see below).

The south is full of luxurious “American style” hotels with many golf clubs and beautiful beaches to visit when the weather is not good in the north.

KitespotJaws

a very dangerous place, absolutely reserved for professionals. There are probably the highest waves in the world, breaking only a few days a year. Not suitable for amateur surfers, but spectacular for photography. However, it is not easy to get there…..Strong ocean currents! Only for very experienced and professional kiters

KitespotHookipa

Classic spot, only suitable for experts and professionals. It is difficult to kite out through the narrow channel between sharp rocks (Rock Garden) and the only safe 60 meters wide exit.

Outside, fantastic waves. Hookipa is one of the most dangerous spots as an “equipment killer”. Even the most experienced kiters are equipped with wetsuits, gloves, shoes and helmets.

A big problem is that the wave creates an offshore current on the way back, which drives the board out to the sea…. in this case you will be pushed out of the safe channel…. and thrown into the middle of the ‘rock garden’ (luckily I only had to pay for this with two hand wounds…. I had no gloves).

Strong ocean currents! Not suitable for everyone!

KitespotSpreckelsville

Perfect place, also for those who want to learn to wavekiting. A beautiful 2 km long sandy beach, easy to reach with a long and clean wave breaking over the reef. Spreckelsville is the place where you normally find Europeans.

For advanced and experts!

KitespotKanaha Beach Park

Cosy place (beach) with shady places, lifeguards, toilets, showers with fresh water and picnic places. Easy to surf, also suitable for lake surfers. Here you can also book beginner courses. There is a small wave off the coast.

For all…. a sunny and very spacious place.

Kitespot Kihei

On the south coast: If you are looking for very shallow water for fast gliding, you should go to Kihei, which is about a 15 minutes’ drive from the towns in the north. Kihei is perfect for slalom and fun for the less experienced.

For everyone.

General information about Kitespots in The Canary Islands – Corralejo

These touristic islands also offer “top kitesurf spots”. The most popular spots are located near Corralejo in the north of the island Fuerteventura, especially the spot “Flag Beach”. The wind comes sideshore and gives its best during the summer months. “Flag Beach” is one of the favourite spots for kitesurfers on this part of the coast. The best weather and wind conditions prevail in the north. There are several spots that can be reached by car in 10 minutes. Corralejo is strategically important as you can reach all the interesting spots in the area in about 10 minutes by car. In all accommodations, a flag is displayed every morning to indicate which spot is the best for the day (usually Flag Beach).

General information about theKITESPOT CABO VERDE SAL ISLAND

Cape Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning in an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. Located 570 kilometres (350 miles) off the coast of Western Africa in front of Senegal, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi). Three (Sal, Boa Vista and Maio) are fairly flat, sandy and dry; the others generally rockier with more vegetation

THE BEST KITESPOTS AT CABO VERDE SAL ISLAND

Santa Maria Kitespot

Is located in the south of the island SAL, in a bay where there are the best spots at the tips of the bay.

  • Kitespot Ponta Leme:  The conditions in this place are excellent and constant, the wind is not affected by the houses of the city when it blows from the mainland (NE). At the entrance of the bay, the water is shallow, on the open sea the waves reach a height of more than 4 meters.
  • Kitespot Ponta do Sino: Either with a kite and tail wind as well as several jibes or with a pick-up service that will take you there and pick you up again after your kiting session. Of course, you have to negotiate the time and the amount beforehand. This spot is fun when the wind blows from the northeast and the waves from the left are two meters high, and you can try almost anything.
  • Kitespot Ponta Preta: On the southwestern side of the island in one kilometer as the crow flies (along the beach about four kilometers), this spot is known for its waves from the right. You will find many kite pros there. A very radical spot with waves between two and three meters high, which form only a few meters from the entrance of the bay, where there are also rocks. Be careful, you can damage your equipment.

General information Kitespot Dahab

Dahab lies in a wind tunnel in the Gulf of Aqaba – the wind blows with full force in the lagoon area. The reason for the strong winds during most months of the year are the thermals. Therefore, the wind in Dahab is stronger and more frequent than in other areas of the Red Sea.

The best kitesurf spot of Dahab

The best spots are 2 km south of the old Dahab (Masbat), at the so called Dahab-City Lagoon. The water here is suitable for beginners as well as for advanced kiters. At the spot there are 5 large hotels, all with kite centres.

General information Kitespot Tarifa

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW…. The Mecca for experienced and advanced kiters. Tarifa is not the best spot for those who want to learn kitesurfing.

The Kitespot Tarifa do not offer the best conditions for beginners !!!

  • Super months: actually ALL !!!!!!!! But January and February are not really recommended because of the temperatures ….however, kitesurfing is still possible.
  • Attention: in July and August the beaches are very crowded with bathers and kitesurfers.
  • Attention beginners: Many schools offer kitesurfing lessons…. choose the school well.
  • The wind is always constant between 14 and 30 knots for kites from 7 to 12 m².
  • Possibility of kitesurfing in a small lagoon, in the Atlantic or in the Mediterranean.
  • You can eat cheaply and easily find apartments and hotels.
  • In the summer months you feel like being in a small Ibiza…. only the prices for apartments triple.
  • There are many sailing shops and workshops which can build custom boards.

This Kitespot is not for Beginners !!!

Pay attention to schools, only a few are of good quality and professionalism… choose well!

Kitespot for able or experienced kitesurfers

Kitesurfing is possible in the Mediterranean as well as in the Atlantic. YOU CAN BREATHE KITESURF AIR IN EVERY CORNER OF THE TOWN!

During a tour of Tarifa you will see signs displayed at windows of apartments saying “alquilamos  casa” (for rent).

The Beaches of Tarifa – The Kitesurf Spots of Tarifa

KitespotLos Lances: is the most famous kitesurf spot in Tarifa, on a 5 km long fine sandy beach. At the end of Los Lances, which begins in the centre of Tarifa, is Valdevaqueros, a place with large sand dunes. You can also kite along the coast in Bolonia, another great place with sand dunes and the Roman ruins of Baleo Claudia. All these spots are clearly also suitable for windsurfers.

For lovers of wave surfing: Kitespot Balneario beach is a regional classic with a wave breaking from the left and right. The entire coast from Tarifa to Cádiz (Cádiz) has numerous surf spots, the most famous being Canos de Meca, near the Trafalgar lighthouse and El Palmar.

General information – Kitespot Mykonos

  • Excellent months: May to October
  • Supermonths: July and August with ideal temperatures (compared to Egypt)
  • The wind is always constant between 20 and 30 knots.
  • Suitable for: advanced and experienced kitesurfers (slightly less for beginners…. but still feasible, accompanied by an instructor)
  • Hardly overcrowded beaches for practice.
  • During the summer months you feel like in a small Ibiza….

Kitesurfing in Mykonos has significant advantages over many other Kitespots around the world. On Mykonos the months with the strongest wind are July and August. During this time the wind blows from the north (Meltemi), with an average of 20/24 knots, and on some days up to 30 knots.

Tourism on the island is concentrated on the places where people drink and dance, or next to the trendy beaches. Kiters have the rest of the coast at their disposal and can easily lay out their 30 meter long lines and set up their 12 m2 kites.

There are basically two kite spots: Ftelia and Korfos: both with onshore wind. The first beach on the road leading from the old port to the town of Ano Mera is very popular with our windsurfing relatives, but here “very busy” means no more than 15 boards in the water, not even in mid-August. So don’t be surprised if you are the only one setting up a kite.

In light waves you can kite out against the wind with kites from 7 to 12 m² (rarely larger unless you are a heavyweight).

If you are good enough and your equipment is reliable, you can try to reach the beach of Panormos with several turns. The way back is perhaps the most beautiful trip on the island, a few turns will do. In Ftelia there is also a bar, a restaurant with a relaxation area for aperitifs and separate public bathrooms.

The other place, Korfos, near the airport and in the southwest of the island, is my favourite. The place is practically deserted despite the proximity to the crowded beach of Ornos (diametrically opposite).

The reason is simple: the beach is perfect for kitesurfers, as well as for one fisherman who brings his fishing ashore around eight o’clock in the evening (watch out for net cables).

Of course, I wouldn’t advise anyone to learn kitesurfing on Mykonos, but if your level is good enough and you have no problems with drifting, Mykonos can become your natural gym.

I would like to give you a tip: Rent a quad that has the rack in front and behind it (the price is 25 Euro per day). I travelled all over the island with a friend on a quad and had two boards and three kites with me.

Avoid Kalafatis, the most famous spot for windsurfing. The wind is really gusty there, and with a kite it can be almost dangerous due to the fact that the wind comes offshore. Outside the bay the wind is more regular, but in my opinion it is not very funny.

Further information and videos in the near future: about booking possibilities, special beaches etc. etc. etc. etc. etc..

An area that offers many top locations for fun with your kite. One of the best places in the world from March to October and even in the winter months. Further south, in Marsa Alam it’s even warmer with 5 -7 degrees more.

For Beginners – Kitespot El Gouna

It’s a prefect place to start learning Kitesurfing. There are many  Kitesurf Schools  … choose well! We  suggest for beginners the spot of “El Gouna” by the so-called Mangroovy BEACH.

For all the others – Kitespot El Gouna

It is easy to find reasonable prices for 4 or 5 star hotels and flights, especially if you travel out of season.

A really broad area that offers many Top Spots to have fun with your Kite. One of the best spots in the world in the months from March to October and even in the winter months… but in the winter more in the south there are always 5/7 degrees more in MARSA ALAM.

Equipment can be hired locally, and there are excellent beaches where you can kitesurf.

There are also kite resorts which offer accommodation in addition to equipment, schooling and training. Between El Gouna and Hurghada there is a very wide range of resorts and hotels, so you can easily find accommodation and travels at reasonable prices. The distance between El Gouna and Hurghada is about 10 km, which means that within 20 km there are countless beaches suitable for beginners. For the latter, however, we recommend El Gouna, and especially the so-called MANGROOVY BEACH.

Soon more information and videos: on the possibility of booking, dedicated beaches ect. ect..

Advice – Kitespot El Gouna

Use winter  entire suit  (5/6 mm) from October to March, April to September entire summer suit (3 mm), believe me, that it will protect you. Initially, also use kite shoes to protect your feet against coral and rocks. Better if you buy the shoes with a very reinforced slab that you find for few Euros on the spot. Once you are sure of the spot, you can kite without the shoes.

General info – Kitespot Marsa Alam Egypt

One of the best kitespots, if not the best, as you can expect a constant thermal wind for many hours a day from March to October at temperatures 4-5 degrees warmer than in Sharm (Marsa Alam is 350 km south of Sharm). These warmer temperatures are clearly a pleasant advantage for this spot.

Marsa Alam is definitely less touristic than Sharm, and probably a little bit more expensive since there are not so many hotels to choose from. But I am sure that you will find similar prices as in Sharm if you look around a bit.

There are rentals, schools and great beaches for kitesurfing.
