I made this little puzzle box called a soma cube for my girlfriend for Christmas. I was going to make a little wooden box to put it in, wood burn something on it, and then wrap the box up for Christmas with a few other things I have since returned since, well, she broke up with me. Do you guys only fold paper cranes and glue Warhammer figures? I've never seen a bookbinding thread here.

Printed and bound House of Leaves. Split it into 2 volumes because I was afraid to work with so many pages at once. Covered with paper-backed vinyl (black) and linen fabric (red), which will probably collect a ton of dust pretty soon.
Couldn't decide how to put the titles on. Should have made a debossed rectangle with a paper label glued inside. But I hoped that hot ink transfer would work. So I made the covers first, then printed the title on ink transfer paper, and found out that pressing a hot iron to the cloth-covered board warps the board due to heat expansion. Tried on small swatches first (picrel). This method won't work.

As I understand it, my current options to put the title are limited to
>linocut transfer
>screening (sponging the ink through a trafaret)
>just print a paper label and glue it on top
Don't have any hot stamping tools to work with foil, nor the desire to purchase these materials.

I don't see any box designing thread here.
So picrel is what I think the well protected design to safely deliver fragile items, but this design is only good for small bottles but not for big items, such as for an item that's 2/3 size of a coffee table. I tried using the same material (cardbox) but the strength of the box couldn't support it. How would you improve this design so that I could still use the cheap card board stocks while at the same time it's able to retain shocks from being tossed around?

Please post images that print well for use as origami paper! I routinely "chop up" a page to easily get 12 to 20+ squares out of a single print.
Multi-pattern images are really cool... allowing for several squares each with individual patterns.
Any good pattern that'll work for several squares with the same/similar patterns.
Black & White can be really cool when printed onto color papers.

Hey I know the overlap between people who like paper modeling stuff and people who like home designs is small, but does anyone else do something similar to this? Design a little home layout in MS paint, print it out, cut it out, and tape/glue it together? It's nice to be able to better visualize home designs than just in my head and it helps me avoid using software. I've made a few of these and just finished this one about ten minutes ago. Seeing everything else here I know it may be a bit sub-par quality, but I'm still happy with how it turned out :)

Hello! I make pepakura for money. Models are usually constructed only once. My pieces are not so much like what we can find online; they tend to be VERY large and intricate, akin to a vg model. This is context for what my advice applies to. If you do it as an easy hobby or stick with truly low poly/tiny part models, a lot won't apply. No pic related just inspo, this is advice dump not my art thread. If you have any questions, why X, tell me more about Z, I am happy to oblige. I rarely use 4chan and wrote this on a whim, sorry if no reply. If you are interested in reaching for the stars with pepakura, here are my personal trade secrets.

MATERIALS/TOOLS
---Do not score the fold lines by hand. If you have a silhouette cameo, go ahead. To fold by hand purchase a glass scraper. I have two, one with a small 1.5 inch blade and another that is 4 inches. Dull the blade. I align the fold line across my fingers, press down with the blade.
---Stop using an xacto knife. Get a snap blade utility knife. I HIGHLY recommend OLFA, XA-1 design.
---Titebond II Premium wood glue. It doesn't cure instantly but that's good, you don't want that. You want to be able to move the tab around into the perfect position before it starts curing. You have a 10 second window to make sure it's in position before it starts curing, then another 10 seconds till you can let go & any tension in the structure won't pull the tab out of place.
---Tiny squeezable craft bottles for glue. One of the bottles I added thicker medical syringe tube. It is long, which is good for when I have to apply glue to a tab which is difficult to access The other bottle has a 1 inch long coffee straw, I use that for when I need a lot of glue then spread it around. When a tab is huge I just open a jar of glue and use a brush to paint it on.
---Dental tools.
---Little neodymium magnets. I rarely use them, usually to hold a tab in place after the glue has already cured to the point that I can let go. See below

I had a question but none of the existing threads are really too relevant so I thought making a general help thread from the get-go (beyond what’s in the welcome thread) would be good so even if my question gets answered the thread can be used for other people’s questions

I’m making a papercraft where I want to paint part of it gold for some extra pop, but I want neat and clean lines. I’ve seen a lot of artists use washi tape to do this in their art and I want something similar, but I have inkjet prints and don’t want any of the ink to lift up. Any tape recommendations? Or possibly other techniques? I’ve done some googling but I don’t wanna take my chances with buying a ton of tape just to test it.
