aspeers 7 to be Launched

The editors of aspeers 7 (2014) are proud to announce that their issue will be released on April 30th, 2014. American Studies Leipzig will host a launch ceremony at 5 pm at the lecture hall of the Bibliotheca Albertina to celebrate. You are more than welcome to join us!

The seventh issue of Europe's first and only print journal for American Studies on an MA level spotlights the topic of “American Anxieties.” It contains a topical introduction authored by the editors, four academic papers by European MA students, and an interview with Prof. Agnieszka Soltysik Monnet of the Université de Lausanne.

Two Intriguing CfPs for Graduate Students of American Studies

Two American studies programs in Germany have recently published CfPs for upcoming graduate conferences. Both CfPs may well be seen to closely relate to "American Anxieties," the topical focus of our 7th issue. So we thought they might both be interesting to potential aspeers contributors and to graduate students of American studies in general.

In March of 2014, master students at American Studies Leipzig will host a conference focusing on "Death and Dying in American Culture."

Then in May of 2014, the Graduate School of North American Studies at the FU Berlin will host a conference on "Trust Issues: Community, Contingency, and Security in North America."

Work has started on the seventh issue of aspeers, the first and currently only graduate-level peer-reviewed print journal for European American studies.
