A good collection of web graphics is paramount for anyone building an online presence of any kind, imho, Matt - you are perfectly right! Spicing up a webpage with great looking graphics makes that page stand out from the 'crowd' - and with the current attention span people have when surfing online, having a bland, dull page is only prone to hurt the bottom line, as potential visitors would almost instantly bounce back. I prefer amazon over adsense when it comes to monetizing Niche sites. It’s more work but at least you don’t get to be suspended without reason unlike adsense. Thanks for this post.

Hey Mat, great stuff so glad I found your site, it’s great your English too, sometimes you just get fed up with the American hyped up, fast talking sales pitches, that seems overload newbies and get them to spend fortunes on stuff they really don’t need. I am in Worthing , Sussex. If your down this way give me a shout would love to buy you a beer, maybe lunch, but it’ll be at a wetherspoons pub as I ain’t made my fortunes yet….. I promise I won’t try and pick your brain…like heck I won’t…. lol

Hi Alex,
there’s two potential problems: –
1. as a “sitewide” link Google will at best discount the links heavily…
2. you could end up with an aweful lot of links for the same keyword, which Google do penalize now.
it can still work as a tactic, but I would suggest: –
a. only including the link back to your site on the index.php template, so that it’s just one backlink
b. using a generic anchor text that you’re not targeting for SEO, which could be your brand name or company name.

all right, first comment in nearly 3 years! woo hoo. anyway, i’m commenting to ask if you think it’s still a good strategy for garnering backlinks by distributing FREE WP blog themes. if so, what is the best strategy in how/where to add your links to themes.
