This is yet another attempt to invalidate the tens of thousands of men and women who marched for the equality of the sexes. Is this what you call small, CBS? Stay strong!

On the 50th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, NOW organized the “Women’s Strike for Equality.” There were demonstrations and rallies in more than 90 major cities and small towns in 42 states. Some 50,000 women marched on Fifth Avenue in New York and across the country more than 100,000 women were involved.

This is a major victory for the equality of the sexes! Stand with NOW for the passage of ERA in the Senate as well!

Join us in our Strike for Equality on the [...]]]> Lead by chapter President, Ivy Bottini, New York NOW demonstrated at the Statue of Liberty as a prelude to the Strike for Women’s Equality to be held later this month. The demonstrators draped a huge banner over the railing which read, “WOMEN OF THE WORLD UNITE!”

In response to these demonstrations, the Secretary of Labor has promised to set up a [...]]]> In 14 cities across the country, NOW demonstrated against the National Association of Manufacturers & Department of Labor for the exclusion of guidelines on sex discrimination from the Labor Department’s “Order 4” which requires affirmative action programs only for minorities.

Stand with [...]]]> Under Executive Order 11375, which bans the discrimination of sex in hiring and employment in the federal workforce and on the part of government contractors, NOW filed a blanket sex discrimination complaint with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCC) against 1,300 corporations for failing to file affirmative action plans for hiring women.
