Now, just to warn before you hit ‘play’ on the app below, but this is a Red Band trailer for the fourth Expendables flick. If you don’t know what that means, it basically shakes out to it being for adults, and decidedly ‘not safe for work’.

Unlike with Expendables 3 (which wasn’t bad at all, just throwing that out there), Expend4bles isn’t skimping on blood and gore or mature themes. It mostly doesn’t look to be too over the top, though in this new trailer there are definite moments where it toes the line. Oh, and there’s ‘bad language’ too. Lots of that.

But is he good?

Samaritan. The name sends the wicked denizens of Granite City back into the shadows from whence they arose. Well, it did anyway. But Samaritan has been gone for years, killed in a battle with arch supervillain Nemesis… wasn’t he?

That’s the premise of MGM’s Samaritan, an original superhero film with legendary action hero Sylvester Stallone in the title role. The movie is playing now on Amazon’s Prime Video, and a pair of new videos have been released to give prospective viewers a little taste of what’s in store.

The first is just a clip from the movie, showcasing a moment from what looks like it might be a pivotal scene.

Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

As for the 2nd release, that’s a more of a ‘behind the scenes’ look. In it, you’ll see Stallone himself talk about his role, as well as Javon “Wanna” Walton, and producer Braden Aftergood. There are also a few hints as to the story of the film, and about Samaritan and his superpowers.

Samaritan is out now, and streaming globally via Amazon Prime Video.

They drew First Blood…

Stallone’s John Rambo, probably his second most famous character behind Rocky Balboa, had a trilogy of movies back in the 80s. Believe it or not, the last one opened in 1988 with Rambo III. But that was before 2008’s “Rambo” picked up the action again.

Now we’ve got an older version of Rambo, but one who’s still trying to leave his past squarely behind him. Not that he can ever actually do that.

That’s a very different look sported by Rambo here, for the first film sequel in the new era. It’s not the only change either, as Last Blood sees the reluctant hero coming home to the US.

As you might imagine though, this is no happy homecoming. Rambo’s return isn’t exactly the retirement he might’ve wanted, as he finds himself at odds with the deadly cartels.

The biggest question here though is if this might be the last Rambo film, period. Indeed, all signs seem to point to Last Blood being just that, and closing things out. Though, this being Rambo, there’s always the chance that things are left a little more open.

We’ll find out when Rambo: Last Blood hits theaters on September 20th.

The publisher has gone one step beyond and tapped the vaults to secure the original recordings of both Sylvester Stallone (Rambo himself) and the late Richard Crenna who played Col. Sam Trautman in the films.

Said a representative of Reef:

“Our goal is to produce the finest Rambo video game ever made. To do that, we are including dialogue, special effects, and music from the movies.

STUDIOCANAL, the owners of the Rambo films, searched their extensive archives and tracked down audio reels containing the original voice recording tapes for FIRST BLOOD, FIRST BLOOD PART II & RAMBO III. These tapes provided us with the pristine vocal performances of Stallone and Crenna that we have included in the game.”

I can’t imagine that it’d be overly difficult to make “the finest Rambo video game ever made” considering that the character hasn’t had all that many outings in the gaming world. And as for the ones that are on the history books, well lets just say that they weren’t of the ‘top shelf’ variety.

Still, I have to admit that the inclusion of Stallone and especially Crenna is impressive. And Rambo The Video Game actually is looking pretty great too from the just released pair of screens. I’ll keep this one in the ‘keep an eye on it’ file with a healthy dose of conservative optimism.

Rambo The Video Game is due to shoot up the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this year.

The all-star action franchise brought to life by Sly Stallone and company hasn’t had actual figures till now other than the diminutive Minimates and Diamond is starting things off right. These bad boys are pretty slick looking figs- that Lundgren likeness looks pretty spot on.

Wave one of the Expendables hits this week at comic and specialty stores, as well as other retailers. Comic and specialty shops will be seeing an exclusive though in the form of (Sly’s character) Barney Ross with his signature beret fixed firmly on his noggin.

Other than Barney, series one includes Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews). All of them look pretty spot on and reportedly come “heavily armed”- but you wouldn’t have expected any less from these guys would you?

Personally, I love these movies. Throwback films to a time when nobody cared about a detailed story, audiences just wanted to see the good guys kick some tail. I’m crossing my fingers that this becomes a continued line from DST. (I need a Van Damme!)

The Walking Dead also arrive in stores this week from Diamond Select in the form of a silicone tray. Yes, you read that right- but you can imagine the look and use for a molded zombie tray right?

How do chocolate, or jello zombie parts sound? Legs, arms… heads. Tasty stuff, and it can be yours for use in your diabolical kitchen of horrors for only $19.99.

A pretty strong week form the toy and collectible company overall. The Expendables line could be a big deal for collectors and fans of classic ’80s action movies and The Walking Dead tray… well, that’s just plain neat.
