War and peace for Wolverine

Origin stories are synonymous with comics, though for some heroes, the past can get a little… murky. That was the case for one James Howlett AKA Logan AKA Wolverine. At least, it was for a time. That was before Marvel started delving into his past, with Wolverine: Origins. That book would give way to a sequel, with even more of the mutant hero’s past laid bare in 2013’s Wolverine: Origins II.

Origins II picked up where the 2001 original left off, finding Logan in a savage state. From there, the tale took him towards an ill-fated meetup with Mister Sinister, as well as a run in with his longtime nemesis, Sabertooth. But with all of that in the rearview mirror, the story isn’t quite done yet.

Marvel has revealed Wolverine: Origins III – The Dark Age, which is inbound for release this December. Its story is seemingly a stark contrast to what’s come before too, as it finds Logan in a post-war state. He’s battled his way through both WWI and WWII.

And in the wake of that, he’s looking for something that’s been illusive for him throughout his long life. That’d be peace. But although he’s on the hunt for a quiet life, it certainly sounds like there are much darker things lying in wait for the old Canucklehead.

Wolverine: Origins’ Paul Jenkins will return once again for this fresh tale, teaming with artist CAFU.

“Wolverine: Origin was foundational. It did not simply tell us how, why, and where a young, frail Canadian named James Howlett became the super hero we know as Wolverine, it also showed his loss of innocence and his understanding of a cruel and difficult world,” explains writer Paul Jenkins. “Now, after 25 years, I’m privileged to present this story I have waited over a quarter of a century to tell. Where did Logan go? Which parts of his story were lost to history? What led to the events of Weapon X? The answers are not going to be what you expect.”

ORIGIN III – THE DARK AGE sees Jenkins return to the character after his groundbreaking work on 2001’s Wolverine: Origin alongside artist Andy Kubert, which revealed the mysterious beginnings of Logan’s life for the first time ever. To celebrate 25 years since the release of this seminal work, the never-before-told darkest period of Logan’s history will finally be revealed by Jenkins and superstar artist CAFU in WOLVERINE: ORIGIN III – THE DARK AGE, a five issue limited series launching in December. ORIGIN III – THE DARK AGE is a psychologically driven and harrowing tale that will delve deep into the way Logan’s mind and memories work and explore how a twisted experience in the 1950s created the man and mutant known today as Wolverine!

“I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this is the most important project I’ve worked on in my entire career,” CAFU shared. “Origin is one of my all-time favorite Wolverine stories, and I’ve loved Paul Jenkins’ work since I was a teenager, so becoming a part of the continuation of that story and being able to tell a little more about Logan’s past is a dream come true.”

Secret Wars revisited

That sub-heading is true in a few ways really. First and foremost, there’s Avengers: Doomsday. A massive feature film hailing from Disney and Marvel Studios, Avengers: Doomsday brings top threat Doctor Doom to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it’s setting up to be a monster of a movie event, it’s also something of a lead-in.

That would be for its sequel, Secret Wars, which shares a name with more than one comic book event. In this case, it appears that the MCU is skipping the classic 80s event, and settling on an adaptation of the 2015 comic book series.

If you missed that one, it saw Doom forging a universe all his own, as the Marvel multiverse collapsed in on itself. So with that event in mind, let’s talk about Incursions. Yes, those multiversal crossovers might be a big part of the current state of the MCU, but they’re also a part of the comics. In specific, we’re talking once again about that 2015 event.

Incursions will be the title of a new series of one-shot books, hitting stores beginning this December. The issues won’t lead to a new Secret Wars happening, but will instead revisit the last one, focusing on different timelines and eras colliding with one another. And from the sound of it, each pairing will have a decisive victor.

Worlds are colliding

Incursions’ action begins this November 18th, with X-Men: Incursions #1 by Alex Paknadel and Jim Towe, pitting two iconic X-flavored realities against one another. From there, Christos Gage makes up one half of a partially revealed creative team for December’s Spider-Man: Incursions #1.

Fantastic Four: Incursions #1 will follow in that same month, with Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan, and Paco Medina onboard. The intriguingly named X-Men ’92: Incursions #1 is up in January 2027, from Chris Yost, Craig Kyle “and more”, with Avengers: Incursions #1 by Al Ewing and Fran Mariscal Mancilla rounding things out.

It was the catastrophe that led to the end of both the Ultimate and Marvel Universes and birthed the conflict known as Secret Wars, but not every story of those dark days has been told! 

In X-MEN: INCURSIONS #1, witness what happens when the universe of the mutant-ascendent HOUSE OF M intersects with that of the DAYS OF FUTURE PAST! In eight hours, only one can survive, or both will collide and be utterly annihilated! This devastating choice is left in the hands of Kate Pryde!

Kicking off the series, writer Alex Paknadel said “As someone who sincerely relishes the challenge of dancing between the raindrops of continuity, this project was all my Christmases come at once. I got to tell a story about what really matters, and I got to do it against the backdrop of three (!) of the biggest Marvel events of all time. I really love my job sometimes.”

Forget Ultimate, it’s time for the Midnight Universe

Marvel has dabbled in horror at times over the decades, there’s really no arguing that. And it’s done so in terms of its mainline universe, as well as offshoots like Black, White, and Blood. But what’s on tap for launch this October is something altogether new and different.

That would be the Midnight Universe, an entirely new universe of Marvel-themed heroes and villains. But, that said, if you’re expecting those characters to be slightly different riffs, you might want to reconsider. Because from what Marvel has shared today, it’s looking like they might be as different as night and day.

As an initiative, the Midnight Universe will be headed up by Executive Editor Dan Buckley and will include major talent. The likes of Jonathan Hickman, Matteo Della Fonte, Benjamin Percy, Kev Walker, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, and ScieTronc will all be onboard for what’ll be a trio of initial offerings. Fans can look for all three titles to appear in stores on the same day as well, October 7th, 2026.

Just in time for some Halloween thrills and chills.

Expressing his confidence in the new line, Midnight Universe Executive Editor Dan Buckley said, “The more we talked about Midnight, the more we realized it was far more than just the birth of another new universe—it was on an entirely different scale creatively, a doorway to something that was not only immediately exciting, but had immense long-term promise.”

“I was very excited when Marvel told me the revamped plans for the Midnight launch because when I read both Ben and Phillip’s first scripts—and even more than that when the art started rolling in—I knew that this line was going to be something special,” Hickman shared. “As for me personally, I haven’t been this excited about a book in a very long time. There are certain kinds of projects that I, and I think most fans, prefer for me to be working on: Ambitious stories with intricate plots and long-form payoffs, which is exactly what MIDNIGHT X-MEN is.”

Discussing his expansive vision for the project, Percy explained, “I have an epic, rich storytelling blueprint for this series, and I don’t know that I’ve ever felt so…in the zone…when writing comics.”

“The Midnight meetings with Jonathan and Ben continue to energize me, every time. I want my readers and fans to know I’ve never written a longer series outline than the one for MIDNIGHT SPIDER-MAN,” Johnson added. “By the time the first issue comes out, I’ll have written two 50-plus-issue series for Marvel and DC, but I want and expect MIDNIGHT SPIDER-MAN to be the longest, most epic series of my career… the series on which I bring everything I’ve learned to bear.”

“The world these creators are building is truly special and the passion behind the stories they’re envisioning was palpable,” Buckley continued. “We wanted to match their ambition with this unique launch plan, one that allows both retailers and fans to fully immerse themselves into this new line right from the start. When the clock strikes Midnight on October 7, these three series will unleash a bold new energy that we hope echoes throughout the industry for the foreseeable future.”

A dark new vision

You’ve got a sense of the themes now, but as for the roster, the Midnight Universe is coming out swinging. As you saw above, the heaviest-hitters will be there for day one. Fans can look for Midnight Spider-Man #1, Midnight X-Men #1, and Midnight Fantastic Four #1 to all land on October 7th.

Take a scroll down the page to get the full descriptions of what to expect from each of them. But as we’ve hinted more than once already, ditch your expectations. These heroes are a fair shade darker than what you might’ve expected.

The Dynamic Duos

With a run that just concluded last year, DC Comics Batman & Robin: Year One told an early tale of the Dynamic Duo on the streets of Gotham. That series was written by comics mainstay Mark Waid, with Chris Samnee providing the artwork. And if you liked what you saw in its pages, get ready, because there’s more to come.

Just revealed by the publisher, Batman & Robin: Year One – Dynamic Duos is coming soon, and set to run a full 12 issues. The same team of Waid and Samnee is back in action for this spinoff/sequel, which looks to be a multi-leveled tale.

There’s the main theme that it’s set to spin out of course, which sounds like it’ll still be included. That would be that the pair of heroes are still learning how to work together, plus navigate a newly formed father/adopted son dynamic. But there’s much more to Batman & Robin: Year One – Dynamic Duos.

For one thing, there’s a group of youths who are out to cause chaos in the city. And just who’s coordinating them is something that Batman and Robin will have to discover. Past that though, there’s also Catwoman’s appearance, and that plays into the name of the series.

Remember, it’s “Dynamic Duos”, with an ‘s’. From the looks of that, that translates to the femme fatale having her own protege. Well, that and the fact that she’ll be driving a bit of a wedge between the title team. So it’s kind of a trio of duos for this one, with a bit of overlap included.

Batman and Robin are back in action! The Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder have been hard at work cleaning up the streets of Gotham City, and their partnership has only gotten tighter. But when a gang of street kids starts causing chaos, Batman and Robin will need to get to the bottom of where these kids came from and who is in charge! Who is the hidden hand guiding these young mischief-makers?

The past, but with nods to the present

For Waid and Samnee, Batman & Robin: Year One – Dynamic Duos presents another chance to explore an era that they’re both ready and willing to dig into. After all, the chance to play in the classic Bat-world doesn’t come around all that often.

And to not only further explore Batman and Robin’s early days, but one of the first meetings between Batman and Catwoman? That’s almost as big of a deal, given the relationship that the pair have even in the current DCU.

From the sound of it, both members of the creative team are pumped to return to this Gotham City of the past.

“One of the great things about talking story with Chris is that we generally end up with way more than we can actually fit in the books—that’s how excited both of us get when we explore Batman and Robin’s early days,” said Mark Waid. “This is Chris’s dream job, and I could write younger Bruce and Dick forever. Hence Dynamic Duos—Bruce and Dick and Catwoman and a brand-new character who may or may not choose to be Selina Kyle’s sidekick.”

“Mark is 100 percent right,” added Chris Samnee. “Our first 12 issues of Year One felt like the exact book I’d been wanting to make since I was a kid. And to be able to make it with this amazing team really is like catching lightning in a bottle. Bouncing stuff around with Mark is always so much fun, and the voices for these characters are always so on point. Mat goes above and beyond with every single page of colors—always making my stuff look better than it deserves—and Clayton has done such a great job of integrating the lettering into the design of each panel and page—and has been so generous with letting me take all the fun SFX out of his hands. So instead of making plans for the next project or book (which is usually what I start trying to plan about halfway through a project), we just kept up the momentum and started getting the pitch together for what’s become Dynamic Duos and rolled right into this, straight after we wrapped Year One.”

“Whereas Year One was about Bruce and Dick learning to live together and work as a team, Dynamic Duos is about how Catwoman divides them,” continued Waid. “Dick’s still too young to understand why Batman doesn’t treat her like every other Gotham criminal, while Catwoman sees this little Robin punk as an obstacle to overcome if she wants to land her next big score…which might involve getting close to Batman! And chaos ensues.”

All In goes Next Level

DC’s All In era is still very much happening and evolving as it goes. There’s been some of that to date of course, but there’s more on the horizon, with Next Level. That’ll see the age of All In usher in a new collection of titles, and it starts with Next Level: One Shot #1.

A 48 page special, Next Level: One Shot #1 is aiming for an August release, and will feature the creative team of Gerry Duggan and Fernando Blanco. The name is a hint as to the content too, as it’s set to spotlight none other than Deadshot. And fans know, Floyd Lawton only needs one shot.

One of the DCU’s premier assassins, Lawton will find himself at the center of a massive conspiracy in the title. Not that that’s where the tale will start. While it’s set to begin with a job the killer’s been hired for, it seems like he’s destined for trouble.

And where said trouble goes from there looks to be much larger in scale.

In Next Level: One Shot, DC’s deadliest assassin goes to the Next Level and uncovers a conspiracy that will change everything. Duggan and Blanco tell the tale of a job gone sideways, a father and his daughter, and a web of super-powered lies that stretches throughout the entire DC Next Level cast of characters…and points in the direction of war on the horizon. This epic issue tells you everything you need to know about what’s next for Next Level…if you survive the experience.

Deadshot is just the beginning

As mentioned, Next Level: One Shot #1 is just the start of the newest revolution of All In. As the push continues, DC says that fans will be able to expect more new #1 issues for a host of DCU stars. Those include “Batwoman, Deathstroke, the Demon, Firestorm, Lobo, the Legion of Super-Heroes, Barbara Gordon, Deadman, Jonah Hex, Zatanna, the Teen Titans, the Doom Patrol” too, so the names are definitely big enough. We’re kind of amped to see Firestorm in there too. He’s about due for a new series.

As for the creative teams for the above, those are looking equally massive. “Jeff Lemire, Jamal Campbell, Hayden Sherman, Mariko Tamaki, Rafael De Latorre, Greg Rucka, Tony Fleecs, James Harren, Martín Morazzo, Deniz Camp, Javier Rodríguez, Michael Walsh, W. Maxwell Prince, Jorge Corona, Kyle Higgins, DaNi, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Skottie Young, Amancay Nahuelpan, Joshua Williamson, and others” will all be onboard according to the publisher.

Youngblood is back

We’ve talked about Youngblood a few times in the last few years. It still seems like something of a mirage. The title was so absolutely massive back in the 90s after all, a time that BG remembers fondly in terms of comics. And to see it back once again, let alone at Image, is pretty awesome. Of course 1990s nostalgia seems to be running pretty hot as of late, so we suppose we’re not alone. If you’re in the same boat as us though, get ready, because Youngblood is about to kick off a summer celebration.

Dubbed the Summer of Youngblood, Image Comics and creator Rob Liefeld have quite a bit on tap. That starts with Youngblood #100 though, a book that sees the long-lived superhero title hit the century mark. The title will star a cavalcade of covers as well, with a slew of variants landing from major talent.

The likes of Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Jim Valentino, Whilce Portacio, and Robert Kirkman will all be included there. And yes, we mean that Robert Kirkman. His is a name that you don’t hear much in artistic circles as of late, we get it. But nonetheless, he’ll be onboard for Youngblood.

In the case of Silvestri too, an Image stalwart, issue #100 of the book somehow marks the first time that he’s penciled this group of heroes. Naturally, Liefeld is pumped for it.

“Marc’s cover is special; it’s an absolute stunner. I’ve literally waited 34 years for this,” said Liefeld. “Silvestri has never illustrated these characters, which makes it a real event for the fans as well me. I told him that I have to retire now. I’ll never, ever do better than this. It’s one in a million. Marc is my favorite artist, and this cover is monumental.”

A long hot (Youngblood) summer

Now, as mentioned, Youngblood #100 isn’t all that’s coming up this summertime. Sure, it might be the biggest happening, but there’s more heading to fans under the name. That includes a spinoff too, one that’s been a long time coming.

None other than Badrock will be getting his very own monthly. According to the press release too, it’ll be a book that both has wide-reaching and personal implications. Not only will it “shake the foundations of the Extreme Universe”, but it’ll also explore the hero’s family. When you have profile as high as the big guy does, that might be set to cause some problems for them.

As for the creative team, the title will have Liefeld onboard, but as writer. Seth Damoose will be providing the visuals. While Damoose’s is a name that you might not be overly familiar with, it sounds like he’s been hand-picked by Liefeld for the project.

“I’ve been following Seth’s work for years; he was the only artist I envisioned for a Badrock series. He’s an incredible storyteller and illustrator. Fans are in for a huge treat.”

“Badrock is the heart of Youngblood,” continued Liefeld. “Giving him his own title allows us to go deeper into his character, his humor, and his sheer power. If you’re a fan of high-stakes, high-octane action that is loaded with laughs, this is the book you’ve been waiting for.”

Armageddon Assemble

Setting up to be a pretty influential event is Avengers: Armageddon. The crossover will kick off in June, and when it does, it’ll serve as something of a followup to 2024/25’s One World Under Doom. That’s not all though, as Marvel says it’ll also lead to a new era for one of its premier super-teams.

Before we get to the new Avengers though, there’s Red Hulk to talk about. Apparently, Thunderbolt Ross himself isn’t leaving Latveria. The man who is also the crimson-shaded Hulk has a Hulk squad at his side too, and they’re looking to keep Doom’s homeland locked up tight.

Opposing them will be Earth’s Mightiest Heroes of course, plus a cadre of additional superheroes from across the Marvel Universe. Helming the series will be writer Chip Zdarsky, with artists Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar. They’ll be taking a wide-range of heroes to war with Ross in the title, including Wolverine , as well as the FF and others.

While there’ll be familiar faces in that Avengers mix though, there looks to be a pair of surprises as well. The first of those come by way of David Colton, the new Captain America. And the second? That’d be a brand new hero, though just who it might be is still a mystery.

AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, a new event series by acclaimed writer Chip Zdarsky and rising star artists Delio Diaz and Frank Alpizar, is set to transform Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a way not seen since Avengers: Disassembled. Spinning out Zdarsky’s current run of Captain America as well as One World Under Doom, Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon and more, the long-awaited saga sees some of Marvel’s greatest icons assemble against Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, A.K.A the Red Hulk, whose takeover of Latveria puts the entire world in jeopardy. When the dust settles on the cataclysmic showdown, a new era of Avengers begins, complete with a bold new lineup that includes an all-new hero with unrivaled power.

Ready for Armageddon? Look for Avengers: Armageddon #1 to arrive in stores on June 10th, 2026.

Avengers: Armageddon certainly sounds like it’s going to be a big series for Earth’s Mightiest. As such, you better believe that Marvel will be there with some covers to celebrate the occasion. The series will kick off with an assortment of those, in the way of nine variants.

Fans can look forward to all of them to hit day and date with the main cover version of Avengers: Armageddon #1, from Dike Ruan. As usual with these slates, look for a cacophony of talent. Kaare Andrews, Skottie Young, Ryan Stegman, the great Alex Ross and plenty more will be a part of the fun.

Supergirl, Blade, Aquaman, and uh Jeff

The main spotlight of Marvel and DC’s latest crossovers might be of the physical variety, but there are some digital comics that fans might want to check out as well. Those follow in the footsteps of Superman/Spider-Man, and follow two more unlikely teamings. For starters, there’s DC’s Supergirl/Blade crossover.

The Girl of Steel and the Daywalker are indeed set to get each other’s backs when they come up against… Mojo? Yep, the X-Men villain is a third wildcard in this one. It seems he’s kidnapped the two heroes to star in his latest twisted motion picture event.

More or less, that means they’ll have to battle their way through waves of vampires.

When Mojo kidnaps Supergirl and Blade to star in his latest over-the-top vampire romance series, the Girl of Steel and the Daywalker find themselves trapped on a soundstage where the cameras never stop rolling and the stakes are very real. Forced to battle bloodsucking foes, melodramatic tropes, and Mojo himself, the unlikely duo must team up and fight their way to freedom before the show’s final twist becomes their last.

From writer CRC Payne and featuring the artistic talents of Mikel Janín and Hugo Petrus, Supergirl/Blade will actually present its action in vertical format. We haven’t seen that format in a while, to put it mildly. Fans can catch it right now via the DC Universe Infinite subscription service, and the DC GO! platform.

According to the company too, the book is also free-to-read for the first 30 days, “with registration”. We assume that means that those forming accounts won’t get the title added to their account, but that they can log on and read it free of charge for those first 30 days. Not too shabby, that.

While that’s DC’s portion of the latest cross-company heroics, there’s also the Marvel half to talk about. That one certainly looks to be a little lighter in tone than the above, and features Jeff the Landshark and DC’s king of Atlantis, Aquaman.

Aquatic action

It’s Jeff/Aquaman will feature the title off-the-wall pair as they go up against a monstrous threat. That would be Ken the Kaiju, as the beastly creep terrorizes New York’s Coney Island. Writer Kelly Thompson helms this titanic tale, with Andres Genolet aboard to provide the artistic accompaniment.

As mentioned, and like the Supergirl/Blade crossover, It’s Jeff/Aquaman is a digital event. Though while the former book is delivered via DC GO!, his one will be found in Marvel’s online subscription service, Marvel Unlimited.

In a neat twist too, the publisher has issued a limited-time promo code. So those looking to check out It’s Jeff/Aquaman can do so sans cost. Readers can use CROSSOVER26 at Marvel.com/redeem to get in on that action.

You’ll of course need an account to make use of the code, though you don’t need to be an existing customer. And while said code was issued later last week, it’s still viable as of this writing.

Since we’re talking about Marvel’s half of this new crossover initiative too, don’t forget that Spider-Man/Superman is still coming up. DC’s Superman/Spider-Man is already out and about, but that second installment is set to land in comics shops this month, on April 22nd.

Alex Ross covers the Marvel U

Comics fans of all ages should well know the name Alex Ross by now. The artist has delivered stunning works featuring multiple publisher’s pantheons, stretching back to the 90s. Now back at Marvel Comics once again, there’s more to come.

This fall will see the arrival of Marvel Dimensions, a graphic novel featuring Ross, that looks to be pretty wide in scope. According to Marvel, the title will span the ages, getting into origins, as well as “early stories”.

It sounds like it’ll offer a nice presentation too, clocking in at 112 pages and in hardcover format.

This September, Alex Ross reimagines the Marvel Universe in Marvel Dimensions, an all-new graphic novel from Marvel and Abrams ComicArts as part of their Marvel Arts line, releasing September 1, 2026. Written and illustrated by Ross, the upcoming graphic novel follows the incomparable artist’s acclaimed work on Fantastic Four: Full Circle with an expansive, reality-shattering saga that includes beautifully painted depictions of Marvel heroes’ iconic origins and early stories. Starting in June, eighteen pieces of artwork from Marvel Dimensions will appear as stunning VARIANT COVERS across select Marvel Comics titles.

As you can see there, while Marvel Dimensions is the main course, there’s more. This summer will see an appetizer in the form of a variant cover slate. Featuring art from the actually book to come, it will span multiple titles and feature some of the biggest Marvel Comics superheroes, at their most iconic.

Set to follow on Ross’ own Timeless, the new Marvel Dimensions line looks to feature some stellar art. Each cover will “showcase Marvel heroes as the mythic legends they are”, according to the company. As such, you can expect a heavy roster of the Marvel Universe’s biggest heroes to be present.

The Fantastic Four, the Avengers, Spider-Man, and of course the X-Men will all be a part of the Marvel Dimensions variant lineup. And from the looks of the preview imagery, these are shaping up to be some terrific homages to the Marvel of the past.

The full slate that you see above will kick off in June, starting with Avengers: Armageddon #1. From there, the collection will roll on towards its finale in August 12th’s Daredevil #5. In between will be a pretty full collection as well, with all of the above figuring in.

Superman and Spider-Man meet once again

These are some wild times that we’re living in… and we mean in terms of comic books. It wasn’t long ago, that it would have been crazy to think that DC and Marvel would be working together again. It’d been decades since the Amalgam Universe after all, and even longer since the days of the one-shot crossover.

Firmly in the rearview mirror were happenings that saw the Teen Titans meet the X-Men, Batman take on the Hulk, and yes, Superman teaming with Spider-Man. But that drought was soon to come to an end, with 2025’s Batman/Deadpool (and Deadpool/Batman).

It turned out that the event was just the tip of the iceberg, as Superman and Spider-Man were once again heading for a collision. Even cooler, the new book actually is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first time that these titans met. Not that the modern one-shot will be solely to commemorate what’s come before. Far from it.

Superman/Spider-Man #1, which hits stores today, will include a whopping eight original stories. The collection will be led by Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez’ “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility”. From there, fans will find the backup tales hailing from talent like Greg Rucka, Jeff Lemire, Christopher Priest, and more.

As DC and Marvel celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, DC today revealed a second wave of variant covers for Superman/Spider-Man #1, arriving March 25. The landmark one-shot unites two of comics’ most iconic heroes in a new adventure that honors one of the most important crossovers in comic book history.

DC’s one-shot is headlined by the lead story “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility” from Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez, in which intrepid newshounds Clark Kent and Peter Parker uncover a conspiracy that pulls Superman and Spider-Man into a universe-spanning threat involving Brainiac and Doctor Octopus. Jiménez has also created a new pin-up paying homage to Ross Andru’s iconic back-cover illustration from Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, which will appear as an interior page. Alongside the main story, Superman/Spider-Man #1 features an all-star lineup of bonus tales by Tom King and Jim Lee; Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber; Sean Murphy; Gail Simone and Belén Ortega; Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere; Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott; Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval; and more, making DC’s Superman/Spider-Man #1 one of the most creator-packed releases of the year.

Those heading out to stores to grab a copy of this fresh event will have some options. And yes, we mean in terms of cover art. Just like with Batman and Deadpool’s meet-ups, this crossover will be loaded with variants. And as with the aforementioned, those covers include even more cool pairings.

Now, you might be thinking that we’re talking about the ones that you’ve seen already. That’s fair, since we detailed them a few months ago. But nope, there are more, with a second wave of images. And you better believe that even more top talent is providing those.

So if you dig collecting variants, you just might love what DC has on tap.

As mentioned above, Superman/Spider-Man #1 is indeed out now, though the followup is still coming. Spider-Man/Superman #1 will be published by Marvel, and will arrive next month, in April of 2026. As to what might happen afterwards though, we’re not sure.

That said though, we do think it’d be a shame if the crossover train stopped rolling here.
