Parking will not be available！

Until now, visitors coming to the Buddha Foundation office by car could park in the second parking lot of the Yamaguchi Heart International Clinic, but this lot will no longer be available starting in June.
We will no longer be able to provide parking for visitors, so we ask that you please use public transportation when visiting us.

Satihar（Bulletin of the Buddha Foundation）September. 2021

Bhagawati coffee went on sale in Japan in March.

The “Bhagawati School Coffee Farm Project” started in 2009, and after 10 years, 200kg of green coffee beans were purchased by UCC in August 2019.
After that, sales were delayed due to the spread of Covid-19…
In March 2021, the product was sold by UCC under the name “Nepal Smile Blend”.
Although the product is probably no longer sold, UCC was able to provide us with images of the poster and package stickers, so we are happy to report them now.

Some of the purchasers have posted Nepal Smile Blend on their blogs.

We’ve been unable to update the website for a while now…
We were able to publish our bulletin “Satihar” in about four years as a result of our efforts to activate our publicity activities.（”Satihar” means fellow or friend in Nepali.）
We hope to report on our activities not only to those who have supported us so far, but also to those who are interested in us.

End of May 2020 – Impact of COVID-19 on the Buddha Foundation’s activities in Nepal

COVID-19がネパールにおけるブッダ基金の活動に与えている影響について、5月末の状況をお知らせいたします。

ネパールおよびポカラ市の状況

2月中旬以降COVID-19が突如全世界に感染拡大。それにより、2020年3月22日からネパールはロックダウン（都市封鎖）となり、現在も続いている。中東の感染者拡大により、3月中旬にはネパールから出稼ぎに行っていた者が大挙して帰国。最近ではインドでの感染激増により、通常ルートはロックダウンにより封鎖されているため、コンテナ車に隠れて入国し、首都カトマンズで検挙される人がいる。インドとの国境を完全に封鎖するのは困難で、ネパールはインドに比べ感染者が少ないためネパール人のみならずインド人も多く流入している。我々の活動拠点ポカラもロックダウンが2か月以上続き、生活は極めて厳しい。市民は食料品などの日用品を午前2時間、午後2時間一人で買いに行く以外、多数で長時間外出することは許されておらず、警察が常時市中を警備している。ジャガン氏によると、理由なく外を出歩いている者は警官から袋叩きにされているとのこと。自宅から数メートル先のコーヒーショップも見に行けない状況。5月末現在ネパールのコロナ感染者は日に日に増えており、先日ポカラ近郊でもついに感染者が出たためロックダウンはより厳しくなるだろうとの見解。そのためロックダウン解除の見込みは全くたっていない。

ブッダ子ども移動図書館（BCML）の状況

ロックダウン以降、ネパール全土の学校も休校が続いている。BCMLスタッフも現在は図書館を閉鎖しているため自宅に留まっている。

この機を有効に使うべく、図書館長（イソワリ氏）にこれまでの活動のレポートの作成を依頼している。

ヒマラヤ・サブレプロジェクトの状況

3月に入り、観光客の減少と共にヒマラヤ・サブレや新商品のマドレーヌも売り上げが減少。パティシエのラチャナさんはロックダウンにより、トレッキングガイドの仕事がなくなり、お菓子の製作もストップしてしまったため、ポカラ市内では生活できないということで4日間かり西北部の山岳地帯の田舎に一旦帰省。

関係者一同、コロナが終息し観光客が戻り次第製作と販売を再開したいと考えています。

Renewal the WEB Site

The main purpose of this ”RENEWAL” is to replace the tools used to make the website compatible with Japanese and English.
We’re ready to post a new blog post!
We’ve made some progress in expanding and updating the content and creating the “under construction” pages too.

Please check back for the latest information as we will be actively expanding the content and posting new blog posts from now on! (I’ll be adding more information on the period when I couldn’t post the article.)
