An all-Africa event to commemorate African slave trade and colonialism shall take place in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on July 7, 2027.
The event, that shall be held under the umbrella of writer David Gian Maillu’s The Centre for African Aesthetics, is a clarion call to the Blackrace to fill in the staggering void of having no annual Commemoration of the atrocities of the African Slave Trade and Colonialism.
Maillu made the announcement at Mathemboni in Makueni County on August 29, 2026 during a brainstorming meeting that brought together academics, students, journalists, critics and civil society organisations.

“In my capacity as an author and President of African Spirituality, using the registered NGO, Centre for African Aesthetics (CAA) in which I am the founder, I hereby stand to organize and lead a movement to stage the first commemoration globally,” Maillu, who says he has written a book titled Scrambling for African Blood for the commemoration, announced. “My past contribution to the African Slave Trade course is highly expressed in my various publications. I am the author of “Songs of slaves” in the KA: The Holy Book of Neter.”

Maillu said he has in his private engagements written three yet-to-be published novels on the African Slave Trade which, if made into films, could aptly bring out emotional atrocities of the African Slave Trade.
He said the publications are titled Negrota, Fort Jesus and Scrambling for African Blood.
“Metaphorically speaking, this meeting is called at Mathemboni (the shrine) to find out how to go about creating the birth of that historic and permanent Anniversary for Africa and beyond.”

Cheating or sexual relationships outside a primary relationship doesn’t just happen accidentally or by mistake; it is planned and executed by willing partners. Behavioural scientists stress that infidelity involves a series of conscious choices and plans such as deliberately seeking validation and shifting or crossing boundaries.RELATED: How Technology Is Changing the Kenyan Sports-Fan Experience
2). Cheating is always an active, selfish choice
3). Unmet emotional needs and the desire for novelty contribute heavily to the development of an affair
4). Affairs usually begin with small, seemingly harmless actions, such as seeking a little extra attention outside the marriage
5). Casual workplace interactions or shared projects can transition into deeper, more intimate connections if boundaries are not maintained
6). Ordinary interactions can easily lead to unintended consequences when the people involved fail to set or respect boundaries

8). An affair builds on a series of small, unchecked decisions and unmet needs
9). Partners without collaborative goals become vulnerable to finding that connection with others outside their primary union
10). People often seek companionship, validation and emotional support outside their primary relationship when those needs are lacking at home
11). Many wayward partners do not express their unhappiness or unmet needs to their spouses before an affair, creating a situation where they seek comfort elsewhere instead of working on the marriage

Fatma Samoura, who served as Secretary General of FIFA from 2016 to 2023, has joined the Advisory Board of African Collaborations Group (ACG), a project origination and collaboration platform focused on the industrialisation of sport in Africa through the origination of bankable sport and entertainment district ecosystems.
Recognised as one of the most distinguished sport administrators of her generation, Samoura brings more than three decades of international leadership experience spanning sport, development, humanitarian affairs and global governance.
RELATED: How Technology Is Changing the Kenyan Sports-Fan Experience
Fatma Samoura was the first woman and the first non-European to hold the position of Secretary-General in FIFA’s history. During her tenure, she oversaw FIFA’s global administration across its major operational and institutional functions, including the delivery of two FIFA World Cups and two FIFA Women’s World Cups. She also played a leading role in strengthening FIFA’s governance, member association services and international development programmes.
Before joining FIFA, Samoura spent more than 21 years with the United Nations, holding senior leadership positions in humanitarian and development operations, including with the World Food Programme (WFP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Her UN career took her across Africa, Central and South America and Asia, giving her extensive experience working with governments, international institutions and development partners.

She has served as a Senate Member of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) since February 2022.
Her appointment strengthens the ACG Advisory Board with exceptional expertise in global sport governance, institutional leadership, international development, federation relations and the delivery of major sporting events — capabilities directly relevant to originating and structuring large-scale sport and entertainment district projects across the African continent.
RELATED: Why Maize is Kenya’s most important agricultural and dietary crop
“Fatma Samoura is one of the most distinguished sport administrators of her generation. Her unique experience at the intersection of global governing bodies, national federations, governments and international institutions is precisely the calibre of expertise ACG needs as we originate a new generation of bankable sport and entertainment district ecosystems across the African continent. Her presence on our Advisory Board is a genuine strategic asset,” said Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, Founder and Executive Chairman of ACG.
The ACG Advisory Board provides strategic guidance as ACG originates and structures large-scale sport and entertainment district projects across the continent, aligning governments, development finance institutions (DFIs), investors, sport bodies and infrastructure partners to support the development of financially sustainable, mixed-use district ecosystems.
RELATED: Why Environmental Enrichment Matters in Urban Homes
Africa’s sport economy is projected to reach $20 billion by 2035, yet the continent continues to lack the integrated district ecosystems required to support large-scale development. ACG addresses this gap by originating bankable sport and entertainment district projects, moving beyond single-venue development models towards mixed-use, revenue-generating and financially sustainable district ecosystems.
Through its collaborative model, ACG convenes governments, PPP authorities and regulators, development finance institutions, private investors, developers, designers and engineers, legal and transaction advisors, operators, sport federations and leagues, event promoters, media and broadcast partners, academic institutions and host communities, creating structured pathways from concept to feasibility, bankability and delivery.
