]]>So how is chocolate good for you?
The cocoa contains 2 ingredients, flavonoids and polyphenols, which help the bacteria in your gut. There’s a lot of talk about how maintaining good gut bacteria helps us in lots of ways, for example

supercharging your gut bacteria may be able to prevent diseases like the common cold.
a good mix of bacteria could help to reduce allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema, type 1 diabetes and the bowel disease Crohn’s.
it may actually affect our mood and
looks like it may influence our weight (in a good way !)
Cocoa also produces a chemical in your body which expands your arteries – how often do we hear about clogged up arteries! Yuk.

So which type of chocolate is best for me?
Which type of chocolate do you prefer?
I lurve milk chocolate -sweet and smooth and creamy. Unfortunately, like most things in life, the things we love to eat are often not the best for us and the same is true of milk chocolate, which has more sugar (and fats) than dark chocolate. Apparently milk chocolate has THE addictive 50:50 calorie ratio i.e. 50% of it’s calories come from sugar and 50% from fats. So if you ever wondered why you can’t put a bar of chocolate down, now you know!
So ladies, its over to the dark side when it comes to the health benefits of chocolate, and the higher the cocoa content the better.

I like to offer a step out of this busy fast paced life we all live in. A time for relaxation and chat in an inviting environment.
Each of my visitor groups is welcomed and treated as an individual from initial enquiry to their chocolate activity. The whole journey is handled personally by me, with thought and planning to try and make the activity feel very personal to the group. One size fits all definitely doesn’t apply to Cheshire Chocolate Studio.

Chocolate doesn’t need mucking out
Chocolate activities don’t require me to stand outside in the freezing cold or rain
Chocolate activities are clean (well pretty clean!)
Chocolate doesn’t cost me a fortune to feed, shoe or pay for medical attention
I can put the chocolate in a cupboard and ignore it when I’m not using it
Chocolate doesn’t mis behave when it feels like it (tho my ponies were VERY well behaved!)
Chocolate doesn’t require too much cleaning up after it
Chocolate doesn’t have to be cleaned for hours before guests arrive
Chocolate doesn’t moult it’s own weight in hair in late spring
I thoroughly enjoy owning and (most of the time) caring for the horses and 3 ponies I now own, but I’m sure it’s going to be a lot easier looking after my chocolate!

]]>That was a very steep learning curve, however I started just at the time Facebook, WordPress etc were getting going. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the children and the parents and was complemented numerous times on my interaction with the children/ how good I was with the children.
Move on 7 years and my kids are now teenagers and my daughter has well and truly grown out of the tiny ponies I used in the pony party business. I was mucking out 5 ponies all year round whilst visitors preferred to come when it was Sunny! I just decided I’d had enough of mucking out ‘extra’s’ to my competition horses and so 3 of the ponies were found lovely homes where they’d be cherished and loved.
I was then itching to get something else going – I’ve looked at LOTS of opportunities and for one reason or another they weren’t quite right. Then a friend shared HER friend’s post on Facebook which was advertising her chocolate workshops – it was honestly one of those lightbulb moments for me – I knew all the ‘back office’ ‘stuff’ – it was almost identical to the pony parties, just the ‘product’ was different. AND it’s not so sensitive to the weather AND it attracts both adults AND children – so for me it broadened my customer base and my season – Plus it’s not a bad product to work with!
That was mid Feb 2017 – by the end of Feb I had a party booking and it was all systems go! My new business had started whether I liked it or not and the rollercoaster started – deciding a business name, creating a website, deciding on branding and colours, researching all about chocolate (tricky!), buying equipment and my first 10KG of chocolate and testing out chocolate creations to offer to my customers.
Cheshire Chocolate Studio now offers kids and adult chocolate parties, chocolate workshops for adults and kids (in the school holidays), hen parties suitable for all the family (!) and fabulous school workshops and corporate events, all accompanied by my unique brand of warmth, chat and interaction.
