I’ve cast on two new ones… to have something to work on during the drive home … it’s going to take us 4 days … just 3 days of actual driving, we’ll stay two nights at the VA apartment.
We did enjoy dinner out, we’d found this place in South Portland that has a great bar and is always filled with locals. We end up chatting with them the whole time we’re there.

Finn of course is always happy to cuddle up when we get back too!

Hat #49 is done. This is the variation of William’s Chemo hat that Stephanie came up with and that I use a LOT. I always say it’s a variation when I post the link but that didn’t keep someone from being pissed off.
I know it doesn’t look like the original pattern … but as I say, you can follow the pattern EXCEPT in the body section, just repeat rows 1 and 2.
William’s Chemo hat found free from the Knots of Love site at this link.
And here is the latest one!
The next beanie has already been started … I’m making good progress on these … and YES the Vikings WON!
There’s even a bit of yarn left over after knitting 2 beanies from this skein and it will be used in a blanket section for Warm up America! How great is that?!

But walking by the cemetery on my way to and from the library reminds me of why I enjoy finding out more about our families. Keith’s grandfather’s brother and his wife are buried here and we’d never have known that without my research.

Today was laundry day for me … there’s machines in the basement but Keith’s been telling me I shouldn’t go down there. He’s been using them but it was time for me to get some done so I went to a nearby laundromat.

Brings back memories of our first year married.
On the weekend, my job was to go get all the laundry done and he’d stay with the boys and clean the house. I loved the time alone with my book and he liked not having to sit around for a few hours doing nothing!
So while I was waiting for him to get home from pickleball so I could go do the laundry today … I worked on my blanket. I think I’m going to be short a skein of yarn because my starting chain was longer than usual and therefore the blanket is wider. Not a big problem, I already ordered more so I’ll finish this skein and the next and then set it aside until I get home.

After doing the laundry … I sat and knit and Hat #48 is done. That number sounds impressive until you know that that’s the number knit this year … not just this fall.
Pattern is Baker Street beanie and is free and found on the Knots of Love site at this link.
This is the second one I’ve made from this pattern and I’m liking it for chemo patients, I’ll be making more of them.
]]>One of the things we sat and talked about was next year’s sew-in and the project we work on. Over the years, we’ve chosen different projects to focus on. This year was RWB quilts for veterans although we always include other ones too.
For our next Maine sew-in, we will be focusing on Sharon Inspired HeartString quilts. Years ago, Sharon introduced us to her “planned” HeartStrings quilts and we fell in love with them. They always turn out beautiful. I can’t wait to get started on one.

This was one of Sharon’s I tied last month at the sew-in.

And this was the first one I made …. I love it and every other one I’ve made through the years!

If you’d like to join in, you can find instructions for the quilt on my website at this link.

I wish we had a nice place like this at home. Got to love a cozy bar!

When we got back … Keith went for a nice walk.

And Finn and I went to work finishing up Hat #47 for the year.
This is a new pattern for me but I’ll definitely be trying it again. Pattern is Baker Street Beanie and it’s found free at this link thanks to Knots of Love!
]]>Good work birthday girl!

Keith went off to Pickle this morning … he had found an indoor facility that he was able to join for the month and it’s been working out great for him.
Finn and I snuggled up and got to work.

Hat #46 is done! Pattern is Waffle Hat and it’s free and found on Ravelry at this link.
This afternoon we got started on another one … and someone else joined us for a nap … all cuddled up under his quilt.

And this evening … we had dinner at a local bar in the area his great grandparents lived. So great to be in this area where his family lived.

And at home … my little boy added another year! Hoping we get to have a birthday dinner with him and Rae when we get home in November.
Happy Birthday Chris!

Luckily Kathleen is a local and knew a number of possible places to walk to for lunch and the Thai place we chose wasn’t crowded at all.
Check out her fall placemats for donation!
After a nice lunch … I had an even nicer dinner!
Yep, that’s Lobster Roll #3 but we’ve been here for 2 whole weeks so I am pacing myself!
